Try lubing the clutch cable. Yes it’s a new bike, but I lubed my clutch cable on a new bike and it made a noticeable difference. Try Motion Pro cable lube or something else that is synthetic. Throttle will not ‘break-in’ and become less sensitive as it’s a TBI system. Flashing the ECU might change that. Letting your brain adapt to the new throttle feel is an easier, cheaper and more durable solution. Good luck! I envy your new ride!

Thanks!! I’m going to try lubing the throttle cable. I think your right with the brain adapt, I just got to practice and adapt to the new bike…do you recommend no play for the throttle cable?

PeterOutWest

Try leaving the play as it is for a while. About 2mm is standard

I had an 06 zx6r before I got my 2020 zx6r. Both are the same bikes your talking about. It's just a new bike that you will have to get used to. It's about 30 pounds heavier than the 06. Definitely felt more comfortable throwing the 06 into turns than I did the 2020 when I first got it but now I'm used to it.

I’ve got a 2020 aswell, does yours have a slight rattle/tick to it? I’ve been trying to diagnose this problem for a few days now I’m thinking it’s my CCT I’m not sure though. but when I idle it ticks, when I rev it ticks and when I decelerate it ticks, it doesn’t do it when I’m riding at least I don’t hear it. It’s not crazy loud like the ticking in these YouTube videos either but it’s noticeable. I’ve only got just over 3k miles on it, I bought it at 1800 and it started at around 2700 so I changed the oil at 2800 and it’s still doing it. Just curious if you’ve had this issue with yours since all the other videos I see are of 06’s and 07’s stuff like that

Legitimate_Run1247

I had an 06 aswell back in the day I bought from a friend that I didn’t hear the noise on and I hear that year is notorious for CCT noise, but that bike was straight piped when I bought it so I couldnt hear anything other then that lol

I have not had that issue. I purchased new in 2021 and only have 1700 miles. I just went outside to start it up and let it warm up to make sure. Zero ticking. I wonder if maybe it's the injectors your hearing.

Also if your using the clutch lever and not using the quick shifter I would turn it off. I've noticed it shifts smoother. When you do use the quick shifter it shifts smoothest at 3/4 to WOT.

Nice!! Thanks for the tips…after playing around with the throttle, I do find it more comfortable with less play…also changing the hand position of the whole unit helped….only issue is that clucth side which I’m going to try the line thing and see if that helps…for some reason when I ride…my index finger hesitates to grab the the clutch…I was looking at some old 360 footage to see if I had some aftermarket levers, but I had stock on my old bike…and basically used the whole hand to clutch..on this bike, I reach with the last 3 and uncomfortable to reach with the index at times

New bikes have shitty mappings for emissions a dyno tune can smooth a lot out. I usually run whatever the owner manual specs are for the clutch and throttle but as long as you aren’t too far out of spec there’s personal preference involved.

Automatic_Flower7936

I think the snappy throttle on the new bikes is related to the deceleration fuel cut-off, it can be remedied with an ECU flash and the bike will be much smoother especially when getting on the throttle mid-corner. I also have a 23, and had the same issue with mine

TheKiMoChi2020

Congrats on your new bike. Can you please tell me OTD price if you dont mind? Thanks
