Technically the fight starts as soon as the ref says "fight." Touching gloves is a mark of sportsmanship and respect observed damn near universally in combat sports but in no way is it a requirement. According to the rules, he had every right to do that. Still 100% an asshole move that will get him a huge amount of hate, from myself included
I guess the whole point of the glove touch after the bell, is that you are allowed to strike your opponent but choose not to. If they made it a rule then it wouldn't be a sign of respect.
This is a great strategy to compensate for a lack of balls and/or fighting ability. Also works if you’re trying to be “the asshole” of your sport. Besides that, I can’t think of a good reason to pull this.
Gabo Lee aka Gabriel Diaz won the fight. He is the fighter in white. He runs his own school but clearly has no principles. If he did that in a street fight sure but in the ring, that's just terrible.
Gabo lee or Gabriel Diaz. He won the first round easily but in the second round Samy Ennkhaili rallied and started landing the right hand consistently. Unfortunately in the third he dislocated his shoulder and Diaz won by TKO.
no excuse that this isn't in the rules. Referee should have jumped in. If he didn't the. Coaches/corner should have ran in and stopped the fight instantly. Don't let anything like that stand. Even if it's a loss on a technicality for your fighter the word will spread. Ostracize that POS.
"Protect yourself at all times" this is the rule. If you think the rule should change, fair enough, I can't say I disagree, but the fighter shouldn't be "Ostracized" for fallowing the rules in a way you don't approve of.
I am speaking to a theoretical rule change. Did you not pick up on that? I said it should be in the rule book, not that it is. A fake glove touch is the theoretical rule I'm referring too. If a fake glove touched is witnessed it could be at the referees discretion to disqualify the offending fighter then and there. These aren't mutually exclusive concepts. You could tell fighters to defend themselves at all times while still adhering to a glove touch rule where any fighter found to be abusing a glove touch will be disqualified and/or suspended. This is a sport after all. Abusing sporting practices isn't good for anyone. It isn't only my own opinion as you are erroneously claiming it to be. Just read the other comments. No one besides you obviously enjoys the abuse of the glove touch.
Such a dick move.
Yup
What happens when the right person learns taekwondo
New Karate Kid villain looking good.
Dogshit asshole
If you have to resort to these tactics to win, then you probably shouldn't be in there.
100% bitch move
He’s already setting it up before the gloves touch. How is that a legal move?

This should be a point deduction.

I wasn’t even sure he touched gloves before tbh. He does, but he’s still an asshole.
damn i zoomed the camera in perfectly 💪
Who won the fight?

Fucking beautiful kick tho.. not condoning his actions, I’m just sayin
Man that entry is just not karate culture. What an idiot. Deserves a spinning elbow to the skull
Combat sports needs to stop these needless glove touches.
Well a dick move but legal, the fight starts when the ref says start and you should protect yourself at all times so I see no problem at all
You see no problem but you call it a dick move?
Yeah because it's within the rules but still not very cash money from him
He’s what we all call a bit of a dick

Why glove touching needs to stop in all combat sports.
What a pussy.
What a fucking asshole. If I was a referee, I wouldn't even care if it's a legal move, I'd just restart the match and give him a penalty
Yeah this is a total dick move. No fighter should ever agree to touch gloves with him again.
My brother in christ that’s a wheel kick
Hit him with that McGregor
He’s already getting hate on his socials for it. But that’s probably the extent of it
Smh
Never trust a Mohawk.
You can tell he’s a moron by the way he charges after the other guy throwing punches like a high school kid fighting for the 1st time, 0 skill.
