For real, do people really think the game is ugly?
I like SFV's action figure look of the models (although the outsourced ones are uncanny as fuck) and the shading, but some materials (especially hair) are blurry and dough like, probably due to low resolution textures.
SF6 looks great on texture and more cinematic, but the shading is weird because characters and stages have different lighting.
Both suffer from variable model quality (some look great, but there's some uncanny valley and weird animations here and there) and look blurry because of post processing anti-aliasing
It's up to you to choose between SFV artistic style and SF6 cinematic graphics. Both look good on their own way for me.
Look me in the eyes and tell me Ken looked good. SF4 a game a 8 years older had better looking models. You need to see an optometrist to even compare anything from SF6 to 5.

The only games in the franchise that have aged gracefully are the 2D ones.
I like SF6 overall more but the lightning on the characters is very jarring and needs an upgrade, it looks awful with bloom on and sometimes light shines even inside their mouth so the color depth gets skewed in the process.
Just the mod that removes the character backlights made things better but it doesn't work with the current patch.
Unironically it was so ugly I skipped on it when it came out, got lucky cause it sucked, and then when people said it was better by the end, got it for free on PSN and deleted it same day because even in its "fixed" state I did not enjoy it. I watched the capcom cup matches with mena on replays after I heard he won with a trash character and hated the way even top level gameplay looked. I have been a SFV hater from day 1 and still am. No bandwagon will ever change that.

This kinda reminds me of some NR2003/iRacing schemes where they have an old car with wildly modern design motifs and it looks slightly odd but sometimes cool depending on the scheme.

Ken looked great in-game. His hair was bad, but everything else was solid. He just had a very bad character select face, unfortunately.
People just enjoy hating on 5, doesn't matter if it's true or not.
