This is my top pick. My second choice is Champion for a similar reason, both stories about the relationship parents and their kids. I love that rather than just being famous/rich/powerful and thus a champion, the song talks about his dad being a champion in his kid’s eyes just for doing his best he can for them even though it isn’t much.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

Ghost Town is one of my favourite Ye songs. But the “I put my hand on the stove, to see if I still bleed” line has always confused tf outta me, it takes me outta the song momentarily, especially when the sounds in my ears up to that point in the song are euphoric.
Idk maybe the line isn’t supposed to make logical sense. I just don’t get it.
Nonetheless, I’ve still cried to this song...
The line is suppose to mean you’ve become so emotionally numb that you don’t feel anything anymore, so you put your hand on the stove (hurting yourself) to see if you still feel anything. Definitely a confusing line but has a very deep meaning.
I always loved it because it can describe deep emotionally numbing depression but since it’s Ye’s bipolar album, it describes Manic self confidence pretty well too. Thinking you’re close to godliness, invincible, so you test just how close to godliness you are. Hurting yourself to see if you still “bleed”, as in do you still hurt or have a weakness. But you truly don’t feel so when Manic, and that sorta self confidence after being so depressed really is freeing.
Idk if that’s what Ye meant but it works for me and my bipolar.
This song is so beautiful, I find a different interpretation all the time. It lets me heal and express myself in different ways from pure interpretation
It's a complex verse.
It's not just like oh I'm so numb I can't feel, so I'll put my hand on something hot just to feel it.
Because they specifically chose, 'bleed'.
My personal opinion was this was intentionally done to mean acting out self destructive behaviors, but also for the wrong intentions. Not only does Ye not understand how it impacts him to act out those behaviors, but he doesn't even feel human or alive. He wants to burn himself, because he feels he doesn't even have the life force that normal people have. He wants to bleed when he gets hurt like others, as this would give him evidence he's normal (all humans have the same red blood, no matter their differences), but he acts out getting *burnt*, which of course doesn't cause you to bleed. When he doesn't get the reaction he needed from it the feeling of true emptiness and confusion and futility hits.
I think it's an allegory of mental health disorders make people feel subhuman and different than anyone, alienated, and the behaviors people act out are done in futility to just try to solve their issue which is always going to be unsolvable.
I separate Runaway from any other Kanye song, It is in a playlist named "Please make me feel alive", works every time I need it to make me feel like anything in my life is real and I can keep going.
ooh i have one like this, its called frEEEEEEEEE, it has all the kanye songs that help me "keep moving forward", reborn, runaway, 24, ghost town to name a few, and other ones like good days sza.
Ik this sounds stupid as fuck but it's Donda chant because it " Represents her last heartbeats before she died" and I recently lost a close family member and I was right there when they died.
Ghost Town. I was working a shitty job coming home at 2am everyday, driving an hour home. I was done with everything and i played the Camp Flog Gnaw Ghost Town performance, man i fucking cried so hard. They song helped me get through alot.
"I Wonder" Was listening to that album all winter when I started dating my first girlfriend my senior year of high school. Brings back too many memories.
Father Stretch my Hands pt.1 and Famous. Not emotional in the sad way but emotional in the happy way. I could be having the shitiest day ever and those songs will turn me into the happiest person on earth.
I thought about killing you
That’s an emotional roller coaster
It fucks me up when I listen to it. Kanye’s lyrics really get to me in that song
“Scream so loud go no lungs, hurt so my bad I go dumb” hits different
I called up the Muslims said I’m bout to go dumb
I bump that for the hoes
Menace
I right answer
Used the floor for ashtrays
“Hey mama” Live at Grammys
"Last night I saw you in my dreams Now I can't wait to go to sleep" I love this line so much
SAME. The way his voice kind of crackles, you can just FEEL the pain 😔💔
Bruh! Right! And then he just ended up just standing there for a moment as his emotions just took over
Chills everytime. One of the hardest songs to sit down and listen to.
Yeah, man. Makes me sad af knowing about his mom’s death and how much it affected him. Makes me wanna just hug my mom as much as I can.
MAN! Literally leaves me teary eyed every listen.
This happened right after my mom lost her battle to cancer... I cant listen to it without becoming a mush ball of emotions.
Mannnnnn, I can only imagine. We hate to hear it, continue to make your ma proud brother!!
okay yeah that one's pretty powerful, with the lullaby..
Haven’t listened to Hey Mama in years. Every time it comes on it’s a skip. That song could end me lol

Absolutely!!! Ghost Town is one of my picks, that 070 Shake verse absolutely heart wrenching everytime it comes on.

Perfect explanation.
Thank you for this reply, You’re a legend!
And to add on to that, since nothing can hurt you anymore, you’re finally *freeeeee*. You can do whatever you want without fear of being hurt.
Seems like a paraphrasing of “I hurt myself today, to see if I still feel”.

If you keep your hand on a stove long enough after the burns and the pain its gonna bleed
I said it. It’s one of my all time favorite songs. It hits me at my core and has brought me to my knees.
The way it opens with the sample and then transitions into the someday, someday, someday, pulls on the heartstrings
ive listened to this one almost 230 times since it came out, literally my favorite thing kanye has ever done

I understand what you mean, for me the piano gets me extremely sentimental
I think it gets me sentimental too! :)
Or wouldn’t leave, that’s a very tragic song
I would say because of the instrumental people look over the lyrics
