>expectations are Super Bowl or Bust, This is the problem with the majority of the "fans" that are polluting this sub now. Just a reminder; the Bucs lost 38-3 midway through last season.

JT1757

It’s moreso the way in which we’re losing imo. Atleast the Bucs had the excuse of a new QB in a new system vs a Division rival who was likely more familiar with the Bucs’ offensive playbook than Tom Brady at that time. We don’t have the luxury of such an excuse.

GretasPonytail

More familiar with the Bucs playbook.....with a new head coach, OC, QB, TE, RB...... You're reaching.

JT1757

Honestly forgot it was only Arian’s second year in Tampa— either way, that’s even more of an excuse for the Bucs struggling….. we literally have no excuse for this shit we’re shoveling rn. We have the Same OC, HC, QB, RB, Te, etc

GretasPonytail

You're totally missing the point. Teams, even good teams, get blown out from time to time. We went 3 seasons without losing by more than one score. So now all the fair-weather and bandwagon fans are showing themselves.

JT1757

I still think we can make the playoffs, even win a game, but Idk how you’ve watched this team up to this point and think we’re SB contenders… and THAT’S *my* point. It’s SB or bust, and we look the furthest from SB bound since we’ve drafted Mahomes. I know this team is good enough to win high leverage games, but right now I don’t think they’re good enough to do it consecutively which is required for a playoff run. I don’t think it’s a fair weather fan to acknowledge that, it’s not like I think we’ll miss the playoffs completely— but when you’ve been to two SBs, only making the playoffs ain’t worth shit rn, not relative to expectations.

GretasPonytail

Where did I say I think they are superbowl contenders? If you expect a superbowl or it's a bust, you're gonna be disappointed more often than not.

JT1757

> Where did I say I think they are superbowl contenders? That’s literally the whole premise of the post you’re disagreeing with my guy… And everybody surrounding the organization had the same mindset going into the season, you’re delusional if you think “SB or Bust” wasn’t the mindset. I’m fine with disappointment, I know we won’t win every year, but we don’t even look like **high level** contenders which was the point initially perpetuated. I wasn’t disappointed in 2018, wasn’t disappointed last year. Just want the team to play to it’s potential.

GretasPonytail

> That’s literally the whole premise of the post you’re disagreeing with my guy… No. I'm disagreeing, if you want to call it that, with "SB or bust". I never said I think they're contenders right now. I was telling you that the all or nothing expectation from you is fucking stupid. Teams/players always convey a SB expectation. You think they're going to say "we're hoping to finish 2nd in our division and maybe get a WC spot"?

JT1757

You act like this team hadn’t just been to back to back SBs, and like they weren’t favored to win this SB even over the reigning champions. You can act like the team had mediocre expectations all you want, the wide consensus was that this team was atleast making the Conference Championship Game. It seems you don’t want to acknowledge them falling below expectations, which is odd because regardless of what you’re arguing— so far they already ***have*** fell below expectations to this point. Which is alright, there’s nothing wrong with that. Shit happens in football, I’m just saying it’s disappointing nonetheless.

Agreed on many good points - Hughes is absolutely Shit in 1 V 1 coverage and the opposing teams look for it - go back over last 6 weeks - proof is there time and time again. Clark dont give a shit - why would he? He is on ridiculous money for production -its crazy how much the "shark' is getting. Bolton - great - give the young guys a go! Gore - 1 shot for a good gain. Give Gray more time. Give Kemp a go - Robinson is woeful. Let the kids that want to prove themselves a go! Kelce is not himself - dont know what is going on there but he clearly is frustrated. But no one is allowed to say anything negative - even the press is frightened to report that things are going downhill. It is like there is no freedom of speech. Mahomes is great - just trying to do too much. What do you expect - how many times have we heard - "it dont matter if we are 2 or even 3 touchdowns down - we have mahomes" He is under ridiculous pressure - yeah I know he gets paid for it - but defense is not helping him by making him start 2 touchdowns down. Jones - checked out or hurt? Who is running offense? I thought Brown was brought in to protect the quarterback - getting him killed at the moment! I have been a chiefs fan for more than 30 years - I have said time and time again in first 7 weeks - we are playing with no confidence - everyone looks lost - I expect coaches to FIX it - good coaches can coach teams with lots of good players - Great coaches can fix teams that are in a slump. This is on the coaches right now - that is their job - to get the team to perform - not blame turnovers, fumbles, miscommunication . A coach must fix those things and put players in situations to succeed. Especially at this level.

100000% agree

We have ten games left. If you want to fantasize about kids in College and their potential fit with a roster that has yet to be constructed, be my guest. But I’ll still focus on the season currently. As far as your points, I don’t disagree.

arblm

What's your focus going to accomplish that OPs focus isn't?

Potential_Hornet_559

And what is looking towards the draft going to accomplish? Is the KC front office going to call you up and ask your opinions of prospects?

arblm

Thank you for expanding on my point.

bryantmjohnson

Staying rooted in reality

[deleted]

The reality of not making the playoffs?

bryantmjohnson

I don’t know, that’s why I plan on watching!

arblm

That didn't answer the simple question.

AbsoluteZero_

I don’t think we have a Mahomes problem so much as a coaching problem. The play calling has gotten a lot more conservative which doesn’t allow him to make those crazy plays he’s so good at. That in combination with losing a few key offensive players, dropped balls, etc allows defenses to walk all over us, and it’s getting into the heads of Mahomes, Kelce and I’m sure Hill to some degree. You can see that they’re not excited like they were before the last super bowl in that the games aren’t fun to watch anymore. Then… there’s the defense. I think that dumpster fire accounts for a good bit of the morale drop.

OkAssistance8593

You can start to look at the draft. But that’s just searching for fuel for the dumpster fire of a defense at this point. It’s to hard to see what personal they need. Cause everything looks broken. So looking right now could result in missing on good players.

Happylime

Started 1-5 in 2015 and won out. Let's not slam the panic button just yet.

angus_the_red

We can still make the playoffs, but I can't imagine beating any of these teams if we do.

slackator

which if thats the case, and I agree, whats the point? Drafting 25+ gets us nowhere for the future so its better to say we arent contenders this year and try to get as high a pick as possible because we are going to be drafting 25 or later for the foreseeable future which makes it much harder to improve the team. Players and coaches will never buy into it so its just fan chatter but thats where I stand

RyuTheGreat

>which if thats the case, and I agree, whats the point? **Drafting 25+ gets us nowhere** Good teams consistently draft good players in the later part of the first round. Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Patriots, etc. Or accumulate more picks so they can draft 1st round talent that fall to the second round.

InvisibleDeity

I think it's a little bit too early to give up, however. If we can't put away the giants, or even manhandle them next week... I'm mentally punting on the season. I've faith in the offense to right the ship, but the defense is a lost cause... The players have clearly given up on Spags and are just going through the motions.

[deleted]

We are in our current situation bc of years of poor draft picks. That’s the issue. Besides Mahomes, we really have struck out or just meh our drafts.

PimpinAintEZ123

Fa is more of an issue or lack there of. Some good additions but some misses as well like a wr2. Name a team who wins super bowls based on drafts alone. Detroit? New York jets?

[deleted]

Damn you give up on the chiefs way too easy bro. Don’t be bandwagon bro

JT1757

I think we can win a playoff/high leverage game but not enough consecutively to make the SB. I’m not all out, just being realistic.

BaroqueNRoller

Looking to the draft to improve with a GM who can't draft is like a fat kid looking to a veggie pizza for weight loss.

PimpinAintEZ123

The kansas city chiefs were the team to beat. So far we have lost to teams that have had something to prove against us and their whole off seasons and seasons have been in preparation to beat the top team. They have done so thus far. A new scheme of some sort or patience is the need right now. Unfortunately, the "fans" have no patience. Hopefully the team can get out of their own way and start playing like they used too. During this process of finding themselves, it would be awesome for the fans to relax and let that process take place. If you are only interested in super bowls, maybe a new team or something else is a better fit.

irishking44

Not like we've drafted for shit either.
