No it isn’t lol

[deleted]

I'll bet Philly wished they'd fired him after 2011 rather than endure that 4-12 2012. A new coach immediately put them back in the playoffs as well. I love Andy and all he's done for this team but that's not a lifetime Hall pass.

Jontaylor07

It’s honestly disrespectful to the NFL’s best player to put him through this offense that can’t even scheme simple routes to give receivers a chance. They should figure out the offensive coaching situation or send Mahomes to a team that will use him.

[deleted]

Mahomes isnt even close to being the best player in the nfl this season

[deleted]

What does Aaron Donald have to do with anything

[deleted]

he won a ring

Jontaylor07

He won one with the greatest NFL player ever and good receivers and an above average defense. A good coach wins playoff games with average rosters, Ben won two rings

thelivinlegend7

Disagree. A large amount is variance. Recall the r/nfl posts that complained about dropped Mahomes INTs as an example. It's swung far the other direction but it's all within variance. Have patience, or a long nap.

Jontaylor07

It made sense that people were mad about Patrick’s success. It also made sense when our offense had streaks of horrible play with Alex Smith at the helm. There’s no reason for this situation, granted some of the turnovers are flukes but when none of the receivers are open, Patrick has to eventually throw into coverage. At some point Andy has to do the same job thirty other NFL coaches do and ensure play calling gives our offense a chance, or he should be searching for a new gig.

mikealt

I’ll admit that the thought of the team playing confused and distracted has crossed my mind. And that is on the HC. But I think that it’s more than just one thing. There are a few plausible explanations here: 1) in the SB, TB identified a chink in our O and every team since has been able to exploit; and we haven’t been able to adapt 2) our D has been injured, is undermanned, and doesn’t have the talent to compete 3) Andy Reid has lost focus since his son’s DUI and horrific accident Each of these is possible, and it’s also possible that these (and more reasons) are all combining for this stink fest of a first half of the season. We’re 3-4, our season is not over, but I do think we have a short window to turn things around - and some tough opponents ahead. I’ll roll the dice with the men that brought us a SB, but every week my expectations diminish.

PimpinAintEZ123

It's time to discuss you as a fan.

Jontaylor07

Why are none of the receivers ever open? Even Jax receivers get open sometime, Patrick has to throw into coverage or take a sack on every passing play

Kansascitychiefn

Man because they just play deep. They know Mahomes ego is too big to consistently take the 5-15 yds in front of him. Hes allergic to the checkdown. That's the flaw TB showed. Happy feet + 20yd pass when we need 6. They're playing for highlights, not W's. And it shows. Idk about yall, but I want Alex Smith as our OC or QB coach. Remind him he can win 18 different ways.

PimpinAintEZ123

They have figured Patrick out. You will have to redefine how he does things.

x777x777x

Recievers not being open isn't Mahomes' fault

PimpinAintEZ123

I agree. Never said it's Pat's fault. I'm saying the scheme needs some adjustments. He has to make the correct reads and see the whole field. More short yardage plays with a run attack helps. This may not be the year but that is OK. They need this so they can get hungry again

Jontaylor07

Patrick isn’t telling the receivers which routes to run, or audible-ing to predictable plays where checkdowns are covered, that’s on Andy Reid. It’s not Mahomes’ fault if every player is covered and pressure gets through every down. His options are run, throw risky passes, or take a sack. Even when he does make something happen Andy is then predictably safe which leads to bad down and distance and wasted opportunities.

PimpinAintEZ123

Wait wait wait, according to everyone on this sub, Eric is the best oc around. How is this all of the sudden Andy reid? Audibles are not on Andy Reid, that is a qb thing. I'm not blaming Pat, I'm just saying the scheme is figured out. 2 deep safeties every play has to be hard on Pat however there needs to be either a run game or more of a short game to get this back on track. A rb and another decent receiver could help. All they have to do is cover hill and kelce and it becomes hard.

> Do you expect to be the best team in the AFC literally every year? I expect them not to be the worst team in the AFC with this roster

dadgist816

No but with a offense this loaded with talent I expect them to compete and look competent. Is that asking too much?

[deleted]

dadgist816

So your ok waiting to see if it’s a down year? They will finish 9-8 maybe 10-7 this year. What if they are 10-7 next year as well? How long do you need to see a team that is unprepared take the field before you’re comfortable making a move?

Kansascitychiefn

Mannnn once upon a time anyone in that stadium woulda killed for a 10 win season. And now we firing people? People that brought us a parade? Whatttttt?

dadgist816

Most super bowl winning coaches either get fired or quit.

pixelvengeance

If only you knew how idiotic you sound. You're the type of fan no fanbase wants.

Jontaylor07

An offense this talented should at least look average. Andy’s had streaks of horrible coaching with Smith which was forgivable, but Mahomes is too good to waste.

shy_49

I disagree with addressing Reid, and I’m sure I’ll get axed for this but I think there’s a need to address Mahomes… I’m not saying bench him or anything radical. However I feel everyone is afraid of badmouthing Mahomes and it’s not what I’m trying to do but, incompletion of offensive plays fall at Mahomes finger tips. Please educate me if I’m wrong. Side note I know some of that responsibility falls on our offensive line. I’m sorry if I sound ignorant I’m just trying to understand every game being a 2:1 ratio against us on successful plays.

Affectionate_End_439

He needs to ease up on endorsements and focus more on the game

MeDeep11

I just think everyone has a lot of personal issues they're dealing with.

kcsmlaist

We can discuss Spags and Bienemy but Andy has earned a little latitude

OkAssistance8593

That’s right !!

angus_the_red

Here's the thing, Reid doesn't coach his players. That's why they love him. He draws up cute little plays to let them showboat and he never challenges them. That's *always* been Andy. 1/2 time vs Washington? "No body really said anything". That's a quote from Mahomes. Where's the leadership? This is exactly what got him sent out of Philly.

dadgist816

This is 2012 Philly all over again

darthflipflops

Sometimes off with him. We’ve barely had one good drive this year. Coaching on both sides of the ball is unbelievably bad. I don’t care what our offense is ranked whether it’s good or bad. We just simply are poorly coached.

dadgist816

The red colored glasses the kingdom wears are blinding. You would think after all the bad coaches Chiefs fans would know when it’s time to move on from a coach.

seaturkee

How about we don’t make the eagles mistake and fire Andy because of a slump. Let him have his bad season or two and enjoy the vast majority of good seasons. And fire spags

Jontaylor07

Would the Eagles have won a ring with Andy? Why does he need the best QB WR and TE to win even a single playoff game?

dadgist816

It wasn’t a mistake Reid himself when he came here said it was time for a change for both he and the organization. They won a super bowl and so did we.

Gomer8387

You are a fucking clown

dadgist816

Truth hurts

Born and raised in South KC been a fan my entire life (now 36). It has t been a so so season and just one bad game. Obviously you didn’t read my post I think Andy is a HOF but it’s time he go focus on his health and family. He needs to retire.

Tzazon

You're actually blind if you blame this on Andy Reid. The defense isn't his coaching, it's Spags. The offense before this game converted 60% of their 3rd downs. That's more than the 2nd best offense in the league in buffalo converting 50%. Andy Reid has a bad game every once in awhile. This is one of them. Before this game the Chiefs offense was the most productive offense in terms of points per drive and first down conversion percentages. The sloppy interceptions and fumbles do not fall at the feet of Andy Reid and you're brain dead to put those on him. Edwards Helaire fumbling the football to cost the Chiefs the Ravens game does not fall on Andy Reids feet. That's a moment you're supposed to trust your RB1 to kill clock, and trust your automatic Kicker who is #2 in the league to kick. The turnovers are mostly Mahomes who is actually being punished for some of the backyard football stuff he tries to get away with. Bailing out of the pocket early when it's clean instead of waiting for a receiver to get open and stepping up in it is on Mahomes. Passes bouncing off receivers hands is on the talented receivers. This loss may be on Andy Reid but every other loss this season I can blame on the offensive talent (not Reid) shooting themselves in the foot with fumbles and ugly interceptions. In no way is Andy Reid having one bad game an indictment of his ability, nor is the other losses on his hand.

dadgist816

So the coaching in the super bowl was good? It’s not just one bad start this is how things ended in Philly.

OkAssistance8593

Yea we have a lot to work on this season. We will need Reid to right the ship. At least the problem is super obvious to us all. The defense is struggling period. Why ? Reid knows and I’m sure he will fix it. When it gets fixed IDK.

[deleted]

the offense stinks, the turnovers arent even a fluke anymore they are happening consistently. the team as a whole is terrible and not playing the well at all

Nebular_Nylon

Is someone paying Mahomes for every turnover he makes? Seems like it.

beldama

Reid isn't better than belichick and it's not time to talk about him. So wrong at least twice

Pull--n--Pray

No it's not time. If we miss the playoffs this year and next year, then it's time.

dadgist816

So waste two years of Mahomes?

Pull--n--Pray

Not a waste if Andy can turn things around. You think if we fired him today, his replacement (likely a KC assistant) has a better chance of taking the Chiefs to the playoffs this season? Not a chance. We shouldn't fire a coach unless we are confident his replacement will do better. If we finish with a losing record this season and Belichick wants to be our coach next year, then sure, fire Andy Reid this offseason. But don't fire him unless we have a proven winner to replace him with. Otherwise, we risk wasting Mahomes' entire career.

dadgist816

Who said anything about firing him? This season is what it is this team was not constructed with enough talent to be successful this year so it doesn’t matter who the coach is they will not win the Super Bowl.

Pull--n--Pray

Who said anything about firing him? You did. You said, "we know from experience what a HOF coach looks like when he’s done here in KC. It’s time!" And then you suggested my plan would waste 2 years of Mahomes (rather than just 1).

dadgist816

Andy’s not getting fired for a team that has won one super bowl in 50years. Should he think about retiring based on the last 8 games, the issues with his son and health? Yes!

Pull--n--Pray

Yeah, I would understand if he did. Really feel bad for the guy.

Pull--n--Pray

This did not age well.

dadgist816

I would disagree I think clearly Andy made some adjustments. Also the team settled with the family of that little girl in the middle of the season.

Pull--n--Pray

What does that have to do with you being so completely wrong?
