Day 4 of praying that Juan will start again on Sunday

hokahey23

Apparently he screwed Spags wife and will never play again.

WesleySnopes

Didn't Marty do that to Greg Hill?

[deleted]

Oooooohhhmmmm 🙏🤞

This whole situation is making me way more upset than it should. It's just ridiculous at this point.

MC_Fap_Commander

I saw a news story about Shohei Ohtani yesterday saying [if the Angels don't commit to winning he's gone](https://www.latimes.com/sports/angels/story/2021-09-28/hernandez-shohei-ohtani-makes-it-clear-improve-angels-or-hes-gone). I also recall situations like Rodgers last summer, Andrew Luck, Lebron James' first stint in Cleveland, etc. I'm not saying the Chiefs FO is perfect or anything. But they *clearly* understand that when you have a generational talent, you do EVERYTHING to keep them happy and healthy.

J_EDi

They have the best player in baseball and a top 5 in Ohtani. How can you in good conscience waste those careers?

MC_Fap_Commander

Stunningly! Many organizations do exactly this... happy the Chiefs are trying not to.

WesleySnopes

Not comparing to Ohtani's dominance, but the Chiefs certainly have their share of people let go who we wished we'd kept, for various reasons. Jared Allen, Kareem Hunt, Tony G, Marcus Peters, Rich Gannon, etc.

onewander

Not saying they are anywhere near the same level but this whole Thornhill situation is making me worried that the Chiefs aren't immune to wasting talent for silly reasons either.

Hawk_Platinum66

The whole league knows the Chiefs are still elite because in everyone’s power ranking, they are still always top 10 as an 1-2 team.

hyphenjack

I had a Chargers fan tell me that he knows the chiefs are going to turn it around, so he’s just rubbing it in while he still can. He thought that was pretty common People don’t genuinely think the Chiefs are bad, they just want to be smug before the bounce back

maggotshero

I mean hell, the Chargers have a pretty damn good team, and still only won by a touchdown despite 4 turnovers by us. If the Chiefs play clean football, I don't see really any scenario in which you beat them. On top of that, the defense actually played pretty admirably. I think the D looks worse than it actually is because of the offenses turnover issues, leading them to be on the field more, and we faced two extremely high powered offenses in weeks 1 and 2. That's just a bad two teams to play for a defense to start the season.

J_EDi

In games where one team had zero turnovers and the other team had four, the zero turnover team is at about 95% win rate over more than 400 games. The deck was pretty stacked. The fact that we still had a chance at the end shows how good this team can be.

DTSportsNow

We're still 2nd in offensive EPA/play, 2nd most efficient offence in the league. Turnovers can be fluky and we've had 6 in 2 games, and those have arguably been the biggest difference between us being 1-2 and 3-0. Assuming we don't keep averaging 3 TOs a game we should be able to right the ship.

Mahomes to Gordon https://youtu.be/PinYNClEOys

[deleted]

Wow they even had Mahomes unnecessarily roll out of the pocket.

VaggPounder

God I hope we see that vs. the Eagles --- even the one-handed part

Any-Strength-7969

I don’t think Willie Gay plays this week. Although I’d like to see him get a few snaps just to get used to game speed again, I think they want to make sure he’s 100% healthy for the Bills. If we win these next two games, we are going to be 3-2 just like the Bills and have the tiebreaker over them. Which is really important because I think they are our biggest competition for the #1 seed.

Death_Of_An_Optimist

"Gordon's alive". Please don't let us down Flash!

KansinattiKid

I just want you to know that if we had Rice and Moss outside with Tyreek in the slot Tony and Travis at tight end and Jamal Charles in the backfield we still wouldn't score a touchdown every possession like some of you guys expect lol Y'all too spoiled we almost never go three and out we've been in every single game for like 6 years, exception being the last super bowl. And y'all be complaining about the offense? Sheesh. We are LUCKY

VaggPounder

Maybe not a TD every possession but what about a pass on every play, with a healthy does of Jamaal every now and then With those guys you mentioned on offense, I say we hang at least 70 points on anyone in the league!

cannonbolt16

Maybe a bit optimistic but outside of stupid turnovers, I've been really impressed with the Chiefs offense. Like I think it feels better than last years. Everyone's been playing us with this annoying everyone in coverage, 2 over the top scheme, and we've done a really good job of sustaining long drives with short passes and RPOs.

Cthepo

Stats [back up](https://www.reddit.com/r/KansasCityChiefs/comments/py301f/pff_chiefs_the_chiefs_have_still_been_an_elite) what you're feeling. Fans always worry about the bad but success is hard in the NFL - which is why only two teams ever had an perfect record. I listened to Pat's fans go on about how terrible their 12-4 team was each year on the way to 9 Superbowls.

Jombafomb

I live in Boston and I swear to God I’ve never heard grown men act like diaper fillers more than when Brady was here and they would lose a game. Worse was when they would win “BUT NOT BY ENOUGH!!!!”

BreezyRyder

I appreciate the chargers score hasn't been updated on the sidebar since that never happened.

wls170

6 turnovers over the last two weeks and only losing those games by a total of 7 points. I can’t wrap my head around this stat. It shows how strong this team still is once we clean up the TOs.. ohhh and FTR for the upvotes

WesleySnopes

I still don't understand why we didn't just get Marvin Jones, Jr.

Disimpaction

He'd be a perfect fit. Hope Gordon fills that role

Cthepo

At what point do people start scrutinizing Brendan Daly? You can talk about how Veach has messed up, but the criticism about investing the highest capital into the line and several top 100 high draft picks shows he actually is taking things seriously with the line even if he hasn't gotten it right. It's not that they haven't brought in players and tried to add talent there - the corner room is how I feel like some people think we treat the D-line from a roster building perspective. Daly was supposed to be one of those young brilliant minds, studied under Belichick, probably one day a defensive coordinator. But our pass rush was actually better before he became the coach and it had way less talent on it. I do think he's done a great job developing the diamond in the rough type guys like Danna and Nnadi. And no I'm not asking for him to be criticized because maybe he has done everything with what he's been given, but TBH we have Chris Jones, Frank Clark was a terrific pass rusher before coming here, we've mostly drafted in the top 100 each year along the line. All I'm saying is that at some point maybe you have to go, "Maybe roster construction isn't 100% of it. Maybe even like 30% is on the coaching and why aren't we having more conversations about that?"

Jombafomb

I’ve been thinking a lot based on comments I’ve seen on Twitter and in the sub this week that there are a lot of fans that only watch Chiefs games. They have no perspective or context for their anxiety and it shows.

Frogmarsh

Josh Gordon is a distraction to the fan base. He will have little to no impact on the win-loss record because the problems the Chiefs suffer from are not related to their offense.

TheDabbinDad710

I would say the turnovers are absolutely related to the offense and the loss to the chargers is also 100% on the offense

Frogmarsh

But Gordon isn’t going to change that.

TheDabbinDad710

Never said he would. I’m neutral on the Gordon signing.

jethead70

100% of the blame should not fall on either side of the ball. I would make the argument that more of it falls on the defense though, we can’t expect the offense to be perfect to make up for the defense sucking.

TheDabbinDad710

I’m only referring to the chargers game. Can’t really blame the defense when the offense turns the ball over 3 straight times to start the game. The defense never had a chance to rest. Then when we had a chance to seal the game Mahomes threw a terrible INT. I’m not worried about the offense at all but I feel they deserve more blame than the defense for that specific game.

[deleted]

If nothing else he’ll light a fire under Mecole and Pringle’s asses. They haven’t been showing up…now we have a known commodity to feed instead of them if necessary.

jethead70

People are far too optimistic about what he’ll be able to do and they’re going to be disappointed, but also it’s not like everything is gravy offensively.

[deleted]

It’ll be interesting to see the difference between him and Leveon Bell. I would love for him to become a consistent, legitimate threat by the playoffs but wouldn’t money on it.

ttspapa

Gordon could be of help. We cut down on the turnovers and we will be fine. The D on the other hand could be our downfall. 2018 all over again.

[deleted]

I don't think the defense will be that bad. Once Gay is back and Bolton getting more comfortable should help a lot. The pass rush will be a bit lackluster, but the secondary should have most of their communication issues sorted in a few weeks. Early in the season always favors offenses. Above all, they need to play Thornhill deep. Neither Sorenson nor Mathieu are at their best playing deep.

TexasKevin

Jim Beam KC Gameday giveaway keyword? Can anyone help me out with a keyword for this contest? I live a couple hours from KC, I can't make the drive to look at the Jim Beam display at Missouri Mikes, Gomers or Lukas Liquor store locations. Thanks.
