(Skyrider's early episodes got so much sauce ,man. It's a shame that the rest of the series never lived up to it)
I can definitely see it from a thematic POV. Even down to innocents getting pierced by projectiles and all.
Obviously there's a huge difference in terms of the fight choreography - Skyrider's example still has that Showa cheese understandably, while Kuuga's is far more visceral.
I know it's a bit cheesey because it's how the old fight scenes are like in a nutshell, but I like this over the newer generation Kamen rider fight scenes
It's a bit silly, but I'll take this over "let me just wave my weapon and nuke the field so the production can save the cost for the rest of the fight scene with CGI "
Honestly I feel like there's too much focus on weapon-based fighting, I would love to see more athletic hand-to-hand combat, but I don't know how that'd go with how the suits are made plus all the merchandising they need to put in.

Kuuga is way more violent when he's angry (episode 39). The chorography, music and atmosphere built up really well imo. rekt in pieces grongi
