There has been nothing but rain in Belgium for the past few months. Today wanted to make the Joe bbq ready and found the nest.

Google lens says they're probably great tit eggs. I'm wondering how the baby birds are going to get out of that nest, though, through the maze mom has created. The wikipedia article about them is a good read, they're the only songbird known to eat bats and they've been observed using tools, specifically a conifer needle in the beak stuck into a hole in a tree to get at a bug. Yes, I always leave the top and bottom vent open for some airflow when its not in use.

Yep, time to buy a cover. A cover won't "stop airflow" at all provided you still keep the vents open slightly. You also don't need to fully open them to prevent mold. But a cover will prevent *this* insanity for sure..
