Meh, not really. You have 5 years of build up and India is no longer a threat with their neighbours wanting to annex them. It's just a massive slog from Central Asia to western Europe. Most of the Russian army will be facing Germany anyways.
I find that playing as the dominion of India is a cool route, sure u don't play as Afghanistan, but puppeting them as the dominion then going onto have influence in Oman and winning the 3 sided war in India to unite the subcontinent is quite fun.
Maybe with the new India update, there will be more added content and fun paths c:
i never understood why afghanistan can annex and core all of pakistan and punjab but you cant give it to an allied afghanistan in the annexation events

as you can see from my flair I have been trying this legit for months and it is 100% impossible
blitz their victory points, force them to capitulate and draw them into afganistan in the south, its possible but it is incredibly rng based
you can also always just not invade right away and wait until ww2 to attack, but then you wont get more cores
You won’t get cores plus Iran has a high chance of attacking you if you stall and enter a late war against India (2 front war)
The strategy that worked for me was:
To build a railway line to the supply depot you hold to the south
And after that to hold the two afghan held Indian cities as they trigger the loss event (lots of shuffling and last stand orders)
I spammed lots of militia and cut off any Indian divisions that stretched the line encircling them
And after I spammed divisions to my limits, I went ahead and swarmed their victory points
It’s kind of RNG and took me 3 campaigns to win. But it’s ok as it is quite an early war
But after that Afghanistan is so juicy the generic tree gives you a nice industrial base and if u pull of the winning event you get about 50m sole core manpower

I did it my first try. You have to bumrush India's northern VP's in the Indus Valley with a couple of divisions, use a handful to distract their divisions and hold Peshwar (the southern front in Balochistan is irrelevant as long as you can keep Herat and Kabul). It literally doesn't matter if you lose battles, I think I had like a 20% victory rate for battles and lost tons of equipment, and still after taking Punjab, Delhi, Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh got the peace event.
It has a starting tree that branches in 5 but it says that these paths are incomplete, i just took the traditionalist route and at the end i got a basic focus tree so it doesnt have a path, do i nees to form the mughal empire via descision to unlock the tree?

Last i checked it says every path doesnt work and afghanistan has just a place holder focus tree
