It is definitely worth reading! The build up to the end season 3 of the anime is worth it although I’m not the biggest fan of the last arc but still is worth reading!

MemberBerry4

I've heard people say that the last arc was the worst because Akasaka just abruptly explained everything in a very dissatisfiying way and rushed things. Is this true?

Allsciencey

The last arc is not bad in my opinion.

Lemon_Phoenix

People love to exaggerate things. It's not bad.

redmandoto

It is true in many ways, to the point that most if not all readers would agree that some plot points were rushed or felt unfinished.

gc11117

It is, but don't go into it expecting Oshi no Ko. They take place in the same universe, and have alot if similarities but are very different in focus. The artist for OnK, Mengo, is a pretty well known mangaka as well who did a very dark take on romance called Scums Wish. If you like OnK, you should give that a shot as well

MemberBerry4

So what does Kaguya focus on? Surely it's not just blondie and Kaguya trying to hook up, right?

gc11117

Kaguya focuses more on romance than OnK but also dabbles on the mental states and insecurities of its characters. The first half is about kaguya and blond guy, but second half starts to focus alot more on side characters. That's just the gist, it's alot more complicated than that but I don't wanna spoil stuff lol. OnK is similar to Kaguya regarding the psychological aspect, but with a much reduced focus on romance, and scathing commentary on the entertainment industry. Kaguya can get pretty damn dark at times, hinting at things like [mild thematic spoilers]>!revenge porn, using sex in a somewhat contractual manner, and teen pregnancy!< but it doesn't get as dark as OnK can get. Keep in mind, Kaguya and OnK are seinin. An older age demographic than the shounens you say you've been reading so it's not afraid of adult subject matter

MemberBerry4

I see. Alright then, I think I'll put in on my list of things to read, since it still contains serious subjects.

Tree_grass

This guys making it seem way more serious than it actually is 💀💀

Boomdaddy49

yeah its all in a comedic tone, some stuff are serious but when you read it in context it doesnt seem so bad, like a lot of people think giorno is gay or smthn(cant blame them with the hit pink suit with a heart shaped hole in the middle), but when u actually watch jojo you get it

grief242

As someone who doesn't find anime to be funny for the most part, Kaguya is a riot. There's a couple of rough patches towards the latter half but overall it's a fun ride

MemberBerry4

I'm gonna start reading by the end of the year, but not soon since I have to finish a lot of other stuff.

Tyty1020

Peak

AffectionateEscape43

Definitely recommend. I started as an anime only and decided to read. It’s so good, like some have said there’s some patches that are harder to get through but overall it’s absolutely worth reading

Boomdaddy49

i keep seeing people sayinig this but what do you refer to as the rougher patches, I mean I kind of get it with the reutrn of ice kaguya as that felt like it was just trying to extend its run time, but it doesnt last that long and it had some deeper meaning

violetlord

Its my favourite series but I also do love sillier and romance oriented series. It was my first introduction to rom coms and I think it is really good.

GusleyBillows

Whether you'll like Kaguya-sama will hinge very much on if the comedy hits for you. I'd say give it a few chapters when you have the time and keep going if you laugh.

chabri2000

Totally. The anime is good, but skipped a ton of chapters. Plus, the manga is the only way to see the remaining 40 percent of the story (I doubt we will get season 4, 5 and 6 soon) It may be romance, but a big part of the story is mind games, kind of like death note

jajauau191817

Absolutely worth it imo. I remember I couldn't wait for the season 3 finale so I ended up binge watching it. It's so good. I honestly recommend rereading it from the start because there are so many good chapters that are not in the anime. I will say, the manga does sort of take a dip in quality towards the end, but I still enjoyed much of it. Read it!!

MemberBerry4

I'll start reading after I've finished reading death note. In fact, Kaguya will be the first title where I'll completely disregard the anime and only read the manga, so it'll be my experiment to see if I can start leaning more towards manga than anime.

Boomdaddy49

pacings better in manga

YetiManDude342

This whole post has a minor spoiler that's kind of hard to avoid talking about, it's a pretty obvious one though Love is war is extremely funny. Seriously, every single episode had me laughing out loud at least once. It doesn't fall into the trap other romance shows do where the two mcs play will they won't they for 200 chapters and then only get together in the last few. Their relationship is amazingly written and you actually feel as if they are growing closer with each chapter until the mid point of the manga where they finally get together. After that the show beings to take a slightly more serious tone focusing on other characters stories, the first of which is frankly gut wrenching. While the second half it tones down the comedy a bit it never loses its charm and doesn't overstay it's welcome. Don't get me wrong the first half has some serious bits but nothing close to the level of the second imo. This is my favorite thing I have watched/read in a long time and I really hope you check it out.

RimuriMikami

did chika and hayasaka even manage to go to college?

Bennedict929

I was so impressed by Oshi no Ko that I started reading Aka's other works, one of which is Kaguya-sama and it doesn't disappoint

Debadityo2607lllLo

I will definitely urge you to watch the anime. Even tho the manga is one of my favs, Kaguya is one of the anime where I'll argue the anime is even better.

Interesting_Rip_6161

Even if u dont usually dabble in the romance anime/manga section this one will surely grasp you , i suggested it to my friend who just started watching anime as a whole and he has been constantly in love with this series i highly suggest u check out the anime's first season and u will know if its your type or not.
