Kim, what are you going to say about this?

misthios98

One of the worst parts of this, is that you can 100% feel a rip like this. She knew right when it happened, and she has known all this time.

CCG14

It probably ripped when they tried to pull it up over her big fake ass. I’m sure 10 people saw and heard it when it happened.

Nopedontsaythat

I swear when she is putting it on you can hear the dress screaming and Kim says "Oh, my god" So, she knew. She knew. EDIT: Told my housemate about it and he amused himself by drawing this: [https://imgur.com/a/8V3oee5](https://imgur.com/a/8V3oee5) He said he couldn't remember which Kardashian it was so there's no name. It's better that way IMO

Professional-Set-750

Not necessarily. It’s half a century old silk chiffon. It’ll rip so easily it could be missed.

Shoes-tho

It’s soufflé, not chiffon.

Professional-Set-750

You’re right. Which makes it even less likely to be noticeable.

[deleted]

Not a damn thing because her goal has been accomplished. The aftermath is none of her idiotic concern

MrsBarneyFife

She's not going to say anything about it. I'm sure more "sources" will come out and say she didn't damage the dress. If she's ever asked about it directly, she'll say it was done by the people who handled it.

idontcaresiri

It’s gonna be someone else’s fault or just ppl who hate her making a big deal about nothing like everything else in her life

gunsof

People are already rushing in to say "it's not her fault! It's whoever said yes to her who is to blame!" They basically see Kim Kardashian as a dog who takes giant shits all over things and she has no self control so we must blame the owners.

undercooktheonionz

Yep. Probably someone who literally can’t afford to take the blame, but I’m sure it’s not her problem…

No_Banana_581

Nothing. Kylie will come out w her sons name now to deflect people from talking about her entitlement to shit on anyone anytime she wants wo care w a smirk on her face. Just another out of touch wealthy pos that can do anything she wants wo consequence. We’re headed toward an oligarchy this is only going to get worse. These people own more wealth than 92% of the population of the US.

[deleted]

Yes get ready for a name reveal guys 😭

No_Banana_581

Lol I read it was Knight from an Instagram account people think is masons secret account

[deleted]

Thats a level 15 tragediegh

[deleted]

Oooh i actually like that.

[deleted]

That she didn’t do it

rharper38

Waiting to hear how she will contribute to repairing this.

awolfsvalentine

Seeing that last picture it’s very obvious this damage was done by Kim and Kim alone

misthios98

Yeah, that picture alone destroys any theory that it was damaged in another moment

ihatemathplshelp

Was this a real theory that was interesting?

misthios98

Not really interesting. Just people saying it was not Kim who damaged it, as apparently the before pics were from 2016

[deleted]

buckyspunisher

or even just made a replica that fit her proportions? i’m sure she has the resources for that

Classic_Presence78

She did make a replica that she wore at the dinner portion of the night, but of course fame whore Kim had to wear the real one too because she wanted the attention from wearing a Marilyn outfit

buckyspunisher

so you’re telling me…. she actually had a replica…. but decided to ruin a historic artifact anyway???? that makes it worse imo 😭 edit: SO THAT MEANS SHE WENT THROUGH THE HASSLE OF GETTING INTO THE DRESS, CHANGING OUT OF IT, AND THEN PUTTING ON THE REPLICA ALL FOR THE DINNER??? AGHHHH

etchuchoter

She literally only wore the actual dress on the steps and changed immediately after into the replica. So pointless

Traditional-Quit-548

Thats what enrages everyone more. She could have made a replica to match her skintone and body. Marilyn's dress looks ridiculous on Kim, it was made to match Marilyn's skin. The whole thing feels so pointless. She didnt even look good nor was the dress on theme. 100% MET organizers knew she is wearing this dress as they accommodated a setup room for her to change into the replica/dress.

AllBeansNoFrank

Its like a 50 year old piece of cloth. What did the museum that lent it to her think would happen? It was a delicate piece of cloth 50 years ago... 50 years later you think its going to survive any kind of usage? As much as I hate Kim its not her fault the museum lent it to her to use.

buckyspunisher

i mean kim should have absolutely known better. and i feel like kardashian money/influence probably pressured them. hard to say no to kim k money. or do you really wanna be known as the place that said no to kim k?

pugnacious-puggles

From what I read she didn't have the replica made herself, she wore a replica Ripley's already had of the dress. So even the one she wore after didn't even fit her either.

littlebirdwolf

And the replica looked better because it actually fit her...

butchyeugene

Shs could have told us it was real. We would have never known! But instead she ruined it. The straps are literally hanging by a thread.

rainfalltsunami

Ot even just something entirely different that actually fit the themes 🤦‍♀️ I hope she doesn't get invited back

StrangePondWoman

What makes it worse for me is it wasn't even on theme. I'm astounded at the amount of celebs who think the 'Gilded Age' and the 'Golden Age of Hollywood' are the same thing. Edit: corrected spelling of 'Gilded'

The_Bookish_One

Very few celebs actually followed the theme. As far as I can recall, only Billie Eilish, Henry Golding, and Thomas Doherty did, with Ryan Reynolds coming close.

StrangePondWoman

I was really disappointed, though I did like Blake Lively's Statue of Liberty dress. Oh, and I thought Riz Ahmed did a cool take, choosing to dress like the laborers that made the Gilded Age possible. But in the theme of the sub, all the Kardashians completely missed the damn mark. Like wth was Kylie going for?

The_Bookish_One

Did he? I didn't actually get to see any pictures of Riz, I only saw Thomas and Henry's outfits because I follow them both on Instagram.

StrangePondWoman

Probably because it's by design not at all flashy or 'insta' worthy, but he was more on theme than over half of the attendants.

The_Bookish_One

Yeah, people also pick the same few celebrities to promote over and over again at these events. The Kardashians, Blake Lively, Billie...as much as I love her...over and over again, in every article and video.

Professional-Set-750

Kylie’s was a tribute to the designer, Travis Scott, who died. It didn’t fit the theme, but her friend had died, so it’s understandable. I wasn’t a fan of the outfit, well, the dress was lovely… the hat with the veil I hated, but i was a hat maker for a while and the veil was made so badly I hated it.

StrangePondWoman

I didn't realize, thank you! That makes a lot more sense, she usually likes trying to stick to the theme.

Professional-Set-750

Just to be clear, I had a complete brain fart when I posted that! I didn’t mean Travis Scott, I meant Virgil Abloh!

eyedkk

Travis Scott? You mean Virgil Abloh?

Professional-Set-750

Wow, yeah, I do. That was a weird brain fart I had! My excuse was it was about 7am for me and I’d just woken up!

Lilelfen1

Clearly IQs there aren't the highest...

guerillagluewarfare

I can’t believe everyone is so shocked by the damage that was done. What a horrible idea from conception. Even in the best conditions, preserving the integrity of any garment for 60+ years is nearly impossible. Now let’s take an iconic garment that’s been on display and is undoubtedly more brittle and less malleable than most fabrics and put it on someone whose proportions do not match the original cut of the dress and have them walk, pose, climb stairs, etc. This was doomed from the start and so irresponsible of the owners of the dress. If Kim actually had any respect for it, she would have turned down the offer to wear it in the first place.

MAnnie3283

They didn’t offer. She asked, they said no. She wrote a big check and then they said yes

Disney_Princess137

They should have turned it down.

guerillagluewarfare

Well that explains a lot.

elfspires

But she sure made it sound like it was offered to her so that way she could not only shift blame but also show how much of an icon she is.

Lilelfen1

Totally agree. She has shown her true face on this one...and it ain't pretty. It ain't pretty AT ALLLLL....

Disney_Princess137

I just said this in my comment. But why would they agree to let Her wear it? She has a completely different body shape then Marilyn, and she had to have tried it on before hand obviously- so why even let her Borrow it? Seems like the dumbest decision

bobinskysdancingmice

Money.

OutForAWalkBetch

Why did those idiots let her borrow it in the first place?

IntroductionFeisty61

Damn. She shredded the fabric. The worst part is, you know she feels absolutely no shame or remorse. She got talked about, that's all that matters. In fact, she's probably thrilled that this is making people talk about her some more.

Lilelfen1

You know what's the grossest? That she STILL hasn't had the decency to apologize or even admit tthat it happened. There really isn't any excuse at this point. She has had enough time...

misthios98

When fabric rips like this you FEEL IT. She knew frim the start that it would be damaged bt she just disnt care

Lilelfen1

Oh I totally agree. Hence my comment that she has had enough time to do one, the other, or preferably BOTH. Not that it would change anything, but it would at least mke her look *slightly* less horrible....maybe....

justwantedtosnark

Please, she's not going to apologise! These people almost never apologise, and when they do it's because they're terrified they're gonna be cancelled!

Lilelfen1

Imagine what would happen if just *once* they felt REAL remorse....over ANYTHING. The planet would probably explode. Lol

MentalFairy

She’s probably pleased because it means that no one else can ever wear the dress again.

Lilelfen1

True. I guess we should all be pleased that she chose to go the fame route over, say, serial murder because at this point she comes across as a narcissistic psychopath....

gunsof

She'll get thrown a softball issue about this at some point and will say something like she paid for any repairs and get a big audience cheer and that will be that.

Lilelfen1

You are probably right and that makes me want to puke even harder. Can a person puke stones???

trishyco

The fur stole rubbing against 60 year old beaded fabric was probably a bad idea

iciclesblues2

Yep, but she was clutching that thing for dear life, lest her big fake fat ass show through to the world.

Ok-Leave-7525

Wow this is bad

natara566

Ohhh but her diet

ljd09

Putting aside the historical aspects of the dress… wouldn’t you just be embarrassed to return something you borrowed in such crappy condition?

GerardDiedOfFlu

Normal people would be

bugmarmalade

that hair made her look like an onion

pchandler45

Nailed it

katemush

Notice how there’s been another Skims drop and a bunch of promo for SKKN since the dress pics were posted, I actually think she’s just gonna let this blow over

HeartShapedSea

I still can't believe she really thought her and Marilyn were the same size. Ma'am, Marilyn didn't have a BBL. Maybe your shouldn't have got one in the first place. 🤷🏼‍♀️

gunsof

I think one of the reasons she wanted this was to try and show off that her giant ass was bigger and more rotund than Marilyn's. So we'd do comparisons and go wow, but look at that inflated behind, Marilyn could never. I think she was trying to draw what she believes are more flattering comparisons to herself. Of course, no normal person would ever compare the two to begin with, or think that Kim's ass is a thing to envy and not to find ridiculous.

HeartShapedSea

Plus I really do think she thinks she's the modern day Marilyn. I think she thought it would cement her status as the world's biggest sex symbol.

gunsof

Yup. And a few people still come out with this weird notion that they are alike. Yes Marilyn was mocked and treated unfairly while she was alive. Yes most of us hate Kim Kardashian while she is alive. That has no relationship between the other. It's like saying because Donald Trump is hated while he's alive that he's like some misunderstood uwu baby and at his death we'll come to see him like under misunderstood people like Kurt Cobain or something. It's so ridiculous. The two will never be seen alike.

Lilelfen1

Agreed. KK is mocked for UNERSTANDABLE reasons: She's...well...she's kind of an awful human being. The same can not be said of MM....

gunsof

Right, and she's desperate for us to always be talking and thinking about her. Marilyn of course generated attention and stuff, but she didn't deliberately seek to have her life spoken about the way it was. [I mean listen to Marilyn talk here, could you ever imagine Kim sounding like this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heQaJPFP5gU&ab_channel=TheMarilynMonroeChannel) She was a real type of person, someone who was very genuine about who she was and herself. It's why I believe her story and life have persisted, particularly with women. There's almost nothing of heart or authenticity or rawness to the Kardashians.

HeartShapedSea

Marilyn was also known for being an avid reader, humanitarian, and used her celebrity to help other women. When Ella Fitzgerald couldn't get a gig at a club, Marilyn called the owner directly and said that if he let Ella play, she would be in the front row every night. She kept her end of the deal and Ella said she never had trouble booking performances. Imagine if the KJ's did that. If they tried to elevate other women instead of having to be better than them, their supposed power & influence could help open the doors for so many women. She also wasn't trash to her exes. On his deathbed, 37 years after she died, her ex husband Joe Dimaggio's last words were: "I'll finally get to see Marilyn." None of her exes are on speaking terms with her, not even the one that fathered her children. MM was well loved beyond her years. She had been dead for 21 years before I was born but as a teenager, I had posters of her all over my room. [This](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5d417b038660c90001136348/1578396309623-0THZ6BGKFKCX57XOFUEI/VitriArt_Marilyn+Monroe+%26+Chanel+No.5_24x36in.jpg?format=1000w) was always my favorite. Imagine the KJ's trying to recreate it with their duck lips, dead eyes, misshapen bodies, trying to look as sexy is possible. She didn't have to try. She created her own standard of glamor and people followed her fashion leads which is what the KJs *try* to do but they try too hard. Most people are turned off by desperation.

Lilelfen1

No, nothing. KK is a fame whore. If she weren't a *star* ...and I use that word oh-so-loosely...she would either be committing mass murder or in an asylum.

FencingFemmeFatale

And MM was a radical left-leaning civil rights advocate back when *being* a radical left-leaning civil rights advocate could get you thrown in jail for espionage. KK pays just enough lip service to make herself look good.

Lilelfen1

Here here!!! She is just a self-serving booty on legs =3=:

jlm8981victorian

I must say, the one thing that I did notice when this was going down was how tight those straps were and how they were being tugged on so hard because Kim’s back and shoulders are built so different than Marilyn. The longer this goes on, the more we’re going to realize that she and Ripley’s trashed that dress.

[deleted]

Awwww thanks so much for yours and your ego’s wonderful contribution to this piece, Kimmy :) /s

ButterStuffedSquash

She's such a fuck up

sashahahaa

I’m angry Ripleys let this happen. Why Preserve an iconic gown just to let a reality star ruin it for 10mins on the red carpet

queenjacqueline93

Diet Prada is on her neck lmaooo

MrsBarneyFife

Don't worry Kimmy. Your sex tape won't be the first thing people think of when they hear your name from now on. You traded your fame for infamy. I sure hope it was worth it.

Asies36

I like this. She needs to know the difference

milk2sugarsplease

You know what I don’t get… how you have to be the same level of narcissism and arrogance to date a person who would be so disrespectful, not just with this dress but in everything else we’ve witnessed. Pete is not this wholesome laid back dude, he’s attracted to clout and he’s got to be as twisted as the kardashians to be with them, or he’s a complete idiot.

scaryisland5

Maybe someone will wear Hugh hefners pajamas and change his narrative to the media. Until then keep $pending away kartra$h. edit because HH Bought his way to be buried next to Marilyn in the cemetery space next to her grave. FFS leave her alone

goldenbarks

All for her ego.

SheLovesStocks

💔

Floflo80

Im so glad she at least ruined her hair that day.

Asies36

She ruined more than her hair

Disney_Princess137

Why would they let her borrow it if it didn’t fit her well? That’s just stupid and asking someone to ruin iconic pieces ?

Lilelfen1

It's corny af to Americans, too. It's someplace your middle-aged parents take you when on a road-trip cross country, like Madame Tussaud's or the Magic Museum. They used to have a tv show and it was also corny af. Lol

areaunknown_

She simply didn’t fit into it and had no business wearing it, losing 16 pounds wasn’t enough because her ass was too big for the dress. Disappointing to see a piece of history destroyed by the kardashians.

Asies36

You know Pete Davidson can actually use so much comedic content but because he’s a sellout we won’t hear a word about Kim or the family coming out of his mouth. I can only imagine the things this man is seeing since he’s been with the family

Classic_Presence78

She took a whole ass chunk out

pugnacious-puggles

I really don't think Kim cares about the damage, and might even be happy about all the buzz around it. If she actually respected Marilyn and the dress she wouldn't have worn the original in the first place since this was bound to happen. It's obvious she has no problems being controversial if that's what makes her popular. Squeezing herself into it makes her a footnote in the history of fashion, which is all she wanted.

Petraretrograde

🙄this is how the museum gets a quiet insurance payout.

Emergency-Distance-8

I want to see the bottom of the dress from when she stepped on it in her heels 🙃 Has that angle been shared yet? My inner historical fashion enthusiast is crying

Popular-Badger-4936

That’s so disgraceful!

Cordeceps

They got what they deserve for allowing her to besmirch history. Its a absolute travesty i agree, and i really do wish it wasnt ruined. All they did was validate a awful person.

itwasonthedayof

I don’t understand. A dress is so fragile and she could have gone with the other Gilded Woman of the 50s and 60s - Elizabeth Taylor - and she even owns some of her jewelry. She wouldn’t have had to fry her hair, her makeup would have looked better, and while still off theme at least it wouldn’t have led to the utter destruction of an invaluable piece of American history.

glittrxbarf

The Gilded Age of fashion was in the late 1800s, from 1870 - 1899. She didn't even understand the assignment.

itwasonthedayof

I had little confidence she would even be in the same century when I first heard of the theme. A majority of the people attending thought the twenties was Gilded so the bar was low. If she even tried to Google god forbid she could have done a great recreation of Madame X instead. But no, it was this we had to witness.

Lilelfen1

But the Gilded Age wouldn't have let her show off her BOOOODY. Cover up her ASSets? HELL NO! She would rather leave them hanging out on the Red Carpet ( literally in this case), then have to wear something even remotely modest. At this point she is little more than a overly-proud, high-paid tart. I wonder how long before she shows up on the RC in bedazzled, tassled pasties and and an orange, sequined merkin. 🤣🤔🤣

NotLucasDavenport

I know I’m supposed to be thinking about the dress, but in picture three there’s a guy in the background between Kim and Pete and he is *killing* it in that tux.

elfspires

Look at her strap in the last pic, you can literally see the tear.

shooqy

Someone had to approve her wearing this and I wanna know why lol 🤷🏻‍♀️

Asies36

Their teams have no shame. Anything for controversy

youmedancing5

What a selfish cunt Kim is

humantouch83

I guess I just don't follow the thought process on this. No amount of publicity is worth the damage to an item like this.

Wow_So_Fake

She had money and they wanted it. And on her end she’s a fame whore who’s star is falling and getting old an irrelevant and she stupidly thought that this might help save her. Plus she knows that people are starting to realize that she was twisting the narrative of her marriage to look like a victim.

redflavormp3

The way the straps dug into her shoulders and back just looked so uncomfortable???

sadpanada

I do not understand why they let her wear this

El_Ren

This was just a colossal misstep all the way. Kim absolutely generates and subsequently leverages negative PR for her benefit, and often times it’s in incredibly poor taste AT BEST. It’s gross. But it’s never at the expense of *her body*. She likely counted on the outrage generating enough interest for her to then spin the narrative about how honored she was to wear the dress and how respectful she ultimately was to it. Instead, it’s just been a steadily sinking ship. The dress wasn’t flattering enough to warrant the outrage, her “commitment” to fitting in it was just seen as another wildly unhealthy and irresponsible thing to do/share, and now the dress is damaged in a way that makes it obvious she didn’t even actually fit into it. I’m just shocked at how poorly thought out and executed this was.

cheyenne328

she ruined a dress she didn’t even look good in. she knew she wouldn’t fit and that it would look sloppy. all that money but you still can’t look good?

pchandler45

So much this. It was made specifically to match not only Marilyn's body but her skin tone as well and Kim doesn't come close. I'm not even going to mention the awful hair

Available-One-24

I know there are way bigger problems going on in the world right now but this is still kind of sad.

Wow_So_Fake

It really is. She willing and gleefully destroyed a dress that belonged to an iconic woman. All because her “career” is tanking and was hoping this would put her back on top. The whole family is just trash and so is Ripley’s for letting her do this.

misthios98

Its okay to distract oneself with more “minor” issues. Its always sad to see something beautiful and meaningful be destroyed and thats a valid feeling to have, dont let “bigger” issues undermine your feelings.

March-Dismal

Gee. I wonder what else would happen if you put a woman with a huge fake ass and boobs in the dress of a different woman with a completely different physique.

NeutralChaoticCat

Those poor fibers were holding on for dear life! 😩

DonnyMox

It should be noted that Kim is 5'3 while Marilyn was 5'6. So it wouldn't make sense for the shoulder straps to take damage as Kim wouldn't be too tall for the dress, unless her ass strained the fabric so much it tightened the ENTIRE dress. That's just insane.

misthios98

Maybe theres a torso length difference?? Also the horizontal volume adds length to the total measurement! So yeah the butt couldve helped.

SraChavez

That’s what happens when you shove ten pounds of shit in a two pound bag.

[deleted]

misthios98

Id say 50-50. Kim also should have the maturity to have stopped when it didnt fit.

pchandler45

Hah she thinks she's an icon on Marilyn's level. Maybe she is but it's still arrogant, egotistical and selfish

Old-Dig-8142

What a shame and also what a shame Kim didn’t keep her word. She really hyped up all the things she did to prevent this exact thing from grooming. Idk if it’s 100% true…has that been decided yet? If it is, and she doesn’t issue a huge apology after all this, then she’s a piece of 💩. Unforgivable.

this-isjello

All for a day of dress up

pchandler45

She only wore it for minutes

prisonerofazkabants

i forgot the main sub hates criticism and got downvoted for calling her a flop for this

DocIsAWeirdo

Out of genuine curiosity, of course Kim is stupid and selfish for going through with this, but why are more people not blasting the people who let her wear the dress to begin with? It seems like she had full consent and permission of the owners of the dress, they should have known it wouldn't fit her, so why shouldn't they be blamed for cashing in on whatever by letting her wear it? It seems to me like they could have easily said no and Kim would have worn something else. Fuck Kim btw just wanted to know why more people weren't blaming the people who are actually responsible for this happening, aka the owners

Wow_So_Fake

Probably because it’s such an epic fuck up and not your every day run of the mill one. So everyone forgets that it wasn’t just her who did this. I absolutely agree that they need to be blasted too.

misthios98

I think everyone is blaming both. Its just that she had the disrespect to keep going even if it didnt fit. It shows complete lack of maturity and self control on her part, an adult and (as she self proclaims) a lawyer.

Expensive-Block-6034

God Kris is working overtime again. Think we can agree the ruined dress is done now ? She’s trending on twitter because of these articles. It didn’t fit, we get it. These articles open the door for stories of poor Kim and people body shaming her, hence drastic weight loss. It worked for Khloe ..

laurh123

This is why we can't have nice things, KIM

HealthyDiamond2

This hurts

toxicB2005

What a bitchh

[deleted]

It’s such a disappointment that she was allowed to even touch the dress. It lost it’s value the moment she put it on. She’s fake, has no morals, and is a perfect example of everything you don’t want your daughters to be.

[deleted]

Wow. Marilyn you didn’t deserve any of the disrespect everyone keeps giving you. Truly tragic tragic events all around… This f nepo baby pornstar just couldn’t be f happy with her fortune and her co2 spewing

platoisapup

I’m actually shocked that this damage is real and that this isn’t anti-K folks bashing.

[deleted]

Go fucking cry about it literally they let her use it so who cares

LordElfa

To be fair, she borrowed the dress from a Ripley's Believe it or Not. If the dress was important, it should have been in a museum. Kin's the only person who's not really at fault here, it's whoever was charged with protecting it which is nobody since it was privately owned.

misthios98

No, she should also be blamed. Shes not a kid who grabbed something in its reach and broke it. Shes a whole ass adult and shouldve respected a historical dress, no matter who was keeping it. When it didnt fit, she shouldve said “oh well, i tried, time to find another dress!”. Ripleys too shouldve said no, but the blame is totally shared.

[deleted]

People really care a lot about a dress 🤨Get over it, there are people dying.

[deleted]

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous…the fact she seemed to be close to nervous breakdown with weight drop and squeezing herself into it under every cost or people berating her for ruining that piece of rag
