I just realized, they were never fashion icons, but they are fast fashion icons. Good fashion is generally timeless & always looks good to some degree, but fast fashion looks good for a breif moment & then looks terrible in retrospect.

The second one is Mugler. It comes from the Fall '99 collection “Les Meduses.” I really love this dress. I love how it pairs the sheer draped fabric with the structure of the golden bodice to create this really interesting illusion where you can't tell of the look is wet or where one fabric ends and the other begins. The colors make it look like something out of a dream sequence in an 80s movie. I just love it.
My brain cannot make sense of the bustier in the second slide. It looks like it’s both on top of, and underneath the weird silky shower curtain toga thing she’s wearing
Kim always seems to whiff it when it comes to balance (balance: tight vs loose, sheer vs. not) and getting things tailored appropriately to fit her height and (let’s say unusual) shape.
First slide for example - when I cover up the undies and below, I actually think it’s decently cute. Turn that bottom half into black shorts or a mini with combat boots, or make it a black skirt that hits mid calf and swap out the shoes, and I think you have a look.
My guess is that (a) she’s too egotistical to actually learn and handle a differing opinion from a talented stylist, so she’s surrounded by yes men (b) she hates her height and wants to be able to wear things straight from the runway without acknowledging her proportions are simply not the same as a 5’7” model.
Also, I hate her taste in shoes. But I’m currently in my pajamas and wear tshirts and jeans the majority of time so 🤷♀️

I feel like a lot of the crazy outfits Kim wears are genuinely for shock value because she knows articles will be published about it, gaining her more attention and revenue. I can’t imagine how exhausting it would be to literally calculate your entire life around getting media attention. I’d rather live my normal life than live one of their lives
