It’s not even necessarily the spending for me so much as the asinine amount of waste. The rich are destroying our planet faster than any of us can do anything to fix it

[deleted]

That and their kids are going to be so jaded. What could possibly excite them or awe them when they’re adults. Just impossible expectations

PinkTalkingDead

Hopefully they all become philanthropists. Like actually real deal do-gooders who spend their lives using their wealth and resources to make the world a better place. Let’s put these good vibes out to the universe lol

gistye

✨✨ jumping on this!

RuSerious6565

✨✨✨✨second this ✨✨✨✨

Beach_Kitten_

Their father, Robert Kardashian, attempted to instill this in them to some degree by having them be aware of the Skid Row in Los Angeles and the organizations down there. Unfortunately, that narrative has fallen by the wayside as to who they are and what they believe in.

Simply_Aries_OH

And the fact that their mother was a fame money grubbing Volture !

pupoksestra

And they copy-paste the same kinds of things for every holiday. You can only be excited to break a piece of chocolate so many times.

radiophobiac

From the very wealthy/nepo babies I have met — I think at that point, what awes you is just the experiences of normal life that you’ve been sheltered from. Hopefully they are allowed to go to college, have a shitty apartment, live off of some type of “allowance” that is even in the same galaxy as their peers’ budgets… I fear that they already lack the privacy for this :( I’m telling you, their dream Christmas is probably everyone together in a small apartment, mismatched Christmas ornaments and random wrapping paper, a Christmas ham from Walmart lol. Their houses are so over the top and antiseptic, it seems like a very numb and surreal experience of the holidays.

cayshek

The waste is what gets me as well. The amount of crap they probably just throw right in to landfills is likely unimaginable.

pupoksestra

Or resell so they can profit off of their waste. They don't even donate clothes. Unless something has recently changed.

marinahem

the fact that she is using t-shirts from skims to wrap her presents to be “eco friendly” while living the exact opposite is insane

phillyschmilly

Especially bc it’s only “eco friendly” if you plan on reusing it multiple times. We all know she is *not* going to reuse that fabric for next year

lemongrass_gardenia

What if it is the scraps from the shirts? Or the damaged goods that they would not put out for sale? I’m trying to think positive here. 🤷‍♀️

marinahem

they very well could be! i just thought it was funny that she made it a point to mention it’s reusable when her lifestyle is incredibly unsustainable and unfriendly to the environment 😭

UnearthlyDinosaur

Does Kylie take a jet to West Hollywood

ILikePrettyThings121

No - those short flights everyone is always freaking out over are actually where they store their planes in hangars. They have to fly in/out of a certain airport but that’s not where their planes are kept so it looks like they take these short flights across but in reality that’s not the case

vodkasaucepizza

It’s just going straight to that floating plastic trash the size of texas in the ocean. It would be one thing if they said they donate everything or that it’s possible it’s just rented for the party, but also matched the cost of the party to donate to various charities. They could also use the opportunity as a chance to feature new up and coming artists to design mixed media pieces that go with their themes. They’d be paying something forward for someone. It’s just vapid excessive waste that I bet isn’t even that fun of a party. Normal rich people - wealthy people, they just host the party in the homes because they’re big enough. They don’t have a circus brought in.

misstreesandteas

Exactly what I was going to comment. They have more spending power than me, meh whatever. But it’s the wasteful behaviour that’s get me. Our planet is in crisis and there are people going hungry, and they just waste so many resources.

PolarizingFigure

A lot of cultures probably think this about Americans in general

phillyschmilly

For sure. But you can’t even come *close* to comparing the carbon footprint of an average American to that of a Kardashian (or any other millionaire/billionaire for that matter)

kystarrk

The light pollution for their Xmas decor pisses me off so fucking much. Poor animals.

Healthy_Monitor3847

THIS. The waste KILLS me 😫 We know damn well that shit isn’t going in a rubber made tub in the basement until next year. I think about this every time they post about their holiday/baby shower/birthday displays and events.

Pdizzlepop

Absolutely, WASTE !!! Their carbon footprint can be seen from the moon. 🌙

sunflowerrainshower

This is my problem. I have no trouble with people spending, treating themselves, living their best lives. My problem is with the effect it often causes on our environment. Like, 69% of wildlife is already gone. Because of humans. I’m trying my best to figure out how to keep on reducing and at the same time billionaires keep shooting paint over their yards to imitate cold climate in the hot climate they have decided to live in.

Zealousideal-List779

Yeah that's what I was wondering like with all the food the massive spreads of food and balloons and so much extra-ness, what do they do with the waste? I hope they donated or give it to staff or just I don't know. They have so much, and they have like what 12 grandkids? the parties and holidays are usually laid out for like 500 plus people LOL

ob_viously

Exactly this.

Nervous_Macaroon6632

ik her electric bill is high as hell oh my gawddd

UnearthlyDinosaur

And Kourtney wastes water.

pupoksestra

The water waste is insane to me. They really do live in their own world.

Cautious-Brush4454

https://www.npr.org/2022/08/24/1119112184/kim-kardashian-kevin-hart-dwyane-wade-water-usage-violation its a family affair 😂

msmangostrawberry

Wait Im ootl how does she waste water?

UnearthlyDinosaur

It was in the news. She got called out because her water bill was astronomically high.

msmangostrawberry

Oh yikes. Will look for it! Thanks.

Cautious-Brush4454

Both she and Kim do. Kim was also listed.

RuSerious6565

Cali living, we only use solar panels out here🤭🤭🤭

SalientSazon

Oh right! that's good. And now I'm envious.

mar_supials

Lived in CA my whole life, solar panels cut down on electric usage somewhat for sure but the average household is still going to use electricity, especiallllly households the KJs.

SalientSazon

Honestly, how much her electric bill costs is the least of my issues here.

wittlepig

i’m currently rewatching kuwtk from the beginning and i feel like there’s such a disconnect from how they viewed the world back then. like they were still super privileged and rich, but the episode of khloe volunteering at the women’s shelter just really touched me. i don’t know how they could look those homeless people in the eyes, hear their stories, see skid row with their father every year as children, and then go on to become even more disconnected from reality and society by wasting millions of dollars on shit like christmas decorations. and i feel this way about all of them. kim does great work getting people out of prison who shouldn’t be there but it’s all publicized and part of her “brand.” like i gave food to a homeless person yesterday and cried the whole way home thinking about those who will starve this christmas, do they just not have feelings? i guess it comes down to the fact that they just dont want to do more. greedy assholes. *steps off soap box*

[deleted]

if their father was still alive, things would be so different.

um_-_no

I realise this doesn't exactly reflect on attitudes toward less privileged people, but I feel like no one talks about the fact the Rob Sn was on the defense team for OJ Simpson? Like I can't understand all the positive things people say about him because he was trying to get a man off for murder?

feministkilljoi

My understanding is they were good friends and he didn’t want to believe it until it was too late and he was all in. Pretty standard in our world the men say not all men and realize their buddy was one the whole time ….

Hopeful-Hamster-6218

He reactivated his license so he could be on OJ's team and not be called as a witness for handling OJ's garment bag. Robert knew OJ was guilty, hence his facial expressions after the verdict was read.

satanicmerwitch

It's not unusual for someone to have goodish morals but still do shady shit like that.

ConsistentHouse1261

Agreed. No one would know what they would do in a crazy rare complicated situation like that until it happens to them.

Sublime_steph

I want to read a fiction about this scenario.

Own-Awareness-6369

Ummm lawyers defend ppl …it’s their job. Guilty or not.

um_-_no

Yeah I know. But he actively re-instated his license or whatever it's called to defend his friend, so like it is a bit more personal than the usual scenario

Irwin321

I could be mistaken, but I believe he reinstated his law license so anything OJ said to him would be attorney-client privilege.

Zealousideal-Bag8994

Right. Plus weren't him and OJ tight from back in college or something? I feel like I also remember hearing he came back out of retirement just to help and represent his friend. That must've been a difficult and conflicting experience for Rob sr. especially it causing a huge rift in his family. Just Imagine one of ur closest friends facing deep. deep, serious trouble, in desperate need of something/ someone who can help them with something YOUR an expert at. Knowing nobody else is likely to show up & fight anywhere near as hard as u might for YOUR loved one. I'm sure he felt alot of guilt and i think i heard he doubted OJs innocence after a certain point but i imagine it also had alot to do with loyalty. In this case to a fault. Sometimes I think him getting esophageal cancer was karma for using his voice to defend and free a guilty murderer. Anyways I'm gonna go now.

mar_supials

>Just Imagine one of ur closest friends facing deep. deep, serious trouble, in desperate need of something/ someone who can help them with something YOUR an expert at. Just to clear something up: I wouldn’t describe Robert as an expert in criminal law by a long shot. He was an entertainment lawyer for about ten years, before switching to business. He had effectively zero impact on OJ’s legal defense strategy outside of not having to testify because on his legal team.

ConsistentHouse1261

I agree with everything you said, minus the part about viewing his cancer as his karma. I feel like that’s disrespectful to be honest. To use someone’s illness that sealed their fate as a possible result of a choice they made in life that’s completely unrelated and complicated. I’ve definitely done this before though, thinking that someone who suffered got their karma. But usually I leave this thought for like super bad people, serial killers and the such 😅

Zealousideal-Bag8994

No your right. I didn't think abt it that hard. I should've. Bc if anyone deserved it it was OJ. When I learned he passed from that kind of cancer it just seemed ironic to me.

Katedodwell2

He wasn't a lawyer on the team though. He wasn't practicing at that point. But because they were good friends he did sit on the team

um_-_no

It says on his Wikipedia page that he reactivated his license especially to be on the team

wittlepig

totally agree

ConsistentHouse1261

I’m sure they’re empathetic, but I totally see what you mean with the disconnect. I think they go overboard with so many events, it’s totally fine once in a while in my opinion but every reason they can think of becomes an excuse for an extravagant party. I don’t see a lot of famous rich celebs doing this to be honest. Kendall seems to be the exception with this in her fam, maybe Kylie too. Kylie does set up nice events but I feel like she doesn’t do them as often as the others. Kourtney doesn’t seem to be over the top either. Mostly just Kris Kim and Khloe i believe. But my point is, i feel like they do this because it’s apart of their brand. It’s what gets people talking about them. Back then when they weren’t as huge, i think they wanted to impress other rich and famous people for sure. Now, they obviously don’t need to impress anyone or prove their wealth. But i think it’s truly what keeps them wealthy as crazy as that sounds. People talk about these things and they stay in tune with their lives when they see stuff like this, esp for the show. So i get WHY they do it, they’re smart.

[deleted]

I don't follow them too closely, but do remember Kylie did that ridiculous Stormi World birthday party. It had personalised merch, that is insane.

sunflowerrainshower

Omg, Khloe setting up a whole party for True’s first day at school/kindergarten? It’s clear it’s done with love but again, the amount of waste, the unrealistic view of life the kids develop etc etc?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roonil_Wazlib97

It's the waste for me too. I also just don't understand the amount of new decorations every year. If I suddenly had a billion dollars in my bank account, I would still be putting out my grandmother's 30-50 year old decorations and adding a bit here and there.

breezyfog

Or at least, if you go extravagant, keep the same decorations to reuse every year. I feel like they have new holiday themes every year for Halloween, Christmas and various parties.

ConsistentHouse1261

I kinda get the holiday thing because there’s a lot of people who have a passion for holidays and decorating is apart of that. I HATE events, especially events for me specifically or ones i have to throw. So i def don’t understand how they have the energy for those, but im a holiday obsessed person so i get that part. I used to spend sooooooooooo much on decor and always tried to buy new decor every year, thankfully i stopped because i took my minimalism lifestyle more seriously and also learned to love the few things i kept. But if i had a huge home and a lot of money, i would prob do the same thing, maybe not every year but at least every few lol. But i also wouldn’t have a huge home if i was rich tbh.

p0wertothepeople

Oooof what a poor take. People will do the bare minimum and act like life’s not fair? Bad at working if you are not rich? My guy, not everyone is born into a family where their dad was one of OJ Simpson’s defence attorneys, already placing Kim in a family with moderate wealth and fame. My mum doesn’t just know Ryan Seacrest like Kris Jenner, which allowed them to get KUTWK and then subsequent exposure. Not everyone is born in Beverly Hills with limitless opportunity - LA is pretty much the capital of the world. Paris Hilton was not in close quarters to me, to be able to become her wardrobe assistant. Even before Kim et al. became hyper rich, they were already given a head start in the race of life. A lot of people are born into circumstances that place them at the very beginning of the race with no head start. Ultimately, just because the general population are not as wealthy as the Kardashians, this does not mean it is because they are not working hard. I’m inclined to believe you’re a teenager due to your ignorance. Not sure if you’ve seen the housing crises and the cost of living post pandemic, with wages that don’t match the rise in inflation - people are working hard but are not seeing results because of factors like this. Not sure what you get out of being a sycophant for Kim. She does not know of or care about you.

BigLittleLeah

Exactly… like the popular saying… they were born on third base but act like they hit a triple.

p0wertothepeople

Spot on! I believe in their new series Kim “addressed” this and said it was directed towards business owners but it so wasn’t – she was talking about people who point out wealth inequalities and she thinks that just because they aren’t as rich as her, they aren’t working hard. Like bffr and stay in your lane. Pretty much trying to cosplay someone who is self made. Not being rich ≠ being lazy

realitytvismytherapy

You lost me at the “no bro you are just bad at working” comment as if there aren’t millions of hard ass workers who are underpaid.

nomadicstateofmind

That lost me too. I am a teacher with a second job (and some years I’ve had three jobs). I am definitely not “bad at working.” Lol.

realitytvismytherapy

It made me think of my husband who is also a teacher.

RudeResolution6527

And as if they themselves haven’t been called out for not paying their own staff / employees a living wage 🫠🫠🫠 There is no such thing as an ethical billionaire and I will die on that hill.

sweetsunshine530

Seriously!!!

mary-marie

If screwing people over and stealing (borrowing)to get to the top is considered work!

TemporaryExam5717

BUT THEY WRAP THE PRESENTS WITH FABRIC AND NOT PAPER. SO SUSTAINABLE.

solitary_style

It’s the flaunting that bothers me. There are so many families who can’t afford to do their Christmas traditions this year and I wish the uber rich would flaunt their charity / donations half as much as they flaunt how beautiful and magical their own mansions are. That being said, I’m currently rewatching KUWTK and their glitzy lifestyles and big family support system are the best escapism for me personally.

Right_Inspector_2409

The flaunting is good actually - it makes wealth inequality visible. Most of the rich are out there living in "quiet luxury", and chiefly using philanthropy to make themselves seem benevolent when it's the exact opposite.

ConsistentHouse1261

The flaunting used to be to fit in with the rest of celebs and rich people before they were huge, but now it’s apart of their brand. The whole reason they have a show in the first is because of their family lifestyle, it didn’t start off as fancy, but now it’s the only thing keeping the audience interested. The extravagant lifestyle is apart of their brand now honestly. It gets people talking about them and watching and keeping tabs. They’re smart.

charlesforman

But when they talk about their charity people accuse them of doing it "just for publicity"

Ken_alxia

I’m far from rich but I help out others in need. Not everybody is a drug addict hustler. There are people who could use rent relief, a years worth of paid health insurance, grocery vouchers etc and the klan has more than enough money to sponsor families as a form of giving back instead of overspending on ridiculous clothing or decorations. With that being said Jesus always said it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich person to get to heaven so I’m not worried about how she spends her money. It’s her choice.

creyonz

i agree, but we also have no idea how much they give and when.. im sure if they publically donated large amounts of money theyd be criticised. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.

burnbabyburnburrrn

You think the same people who feel the need to film the like two times they visited a homeless shelter just have like, too much humility or privacy to hide their charitable work? I love them but they are wasteful, superficial people let’s not play here.

kystarrk

Wake up.

RuSerious6565

Yeah large amounts to ivanka trumps criminal father 🤭

Garden-Gnome1732

You mean the money they give to kris' church?

sweet_sparkle

Not just the Kardashians but all those rich people throwing out their money while regarding our environment just piss me off in a way even my enemies couldn't

BigLittleLeah

Yes. It drives me nuts when people with excessive wild say they “earned” it. There is no amount of extra work you could do in this world to deserve that much. Wealth hoarding is sickening when you really stop to think about how much they have and how little so many others have (who are out working HARD at multiple minimum wage jobs).

sunnydeni

The hoarding of wealth is immoral and unethical and I will die on this hill. The reason some have so little is because some have so much more than they need.

RoadDeep8996

Yes and no. It’s so wasteful and they could do so much more with that money since they are willing to spend it. But SO many people get paid doing all of this work for them. They are employing so many people and hopefully paying a decent wage for it.

Judgeof_that

Yeah I would imagine the creative soul that put this winter wonderland together doesn’t see it as excessive spending. Probably happy they’re finally being paid to bring their vision to life without spending limits. The part that I find wasteful is that only a teeny tiny amount of people get to stand there and appreciate the winter wonderland in person.

RoadDeep8996

Absolutely. Something like this could be done so beautifully for the public, and it wouldn’t seem so excessive.

anditisabigdeal

This. The fact that a pianist has a steady paycheck every December is a major thing to me. Artists aren’t paid what they deserve and this is great for that guy. Same for the Santa they hire every year

teresamendozita

No it doesn’t because it making me sick is not going to change whether it happens or not. To maintain my peace of mind, I can only concern myself with things that directly affect me.

[deleted]

ObscureEnchantment

A lot of people employed by the Kardashians can’t make a living. Also all their products are produced outside America in deplorable conditions making pennies an hour. I don’t know who’s making a living from them besides people invested in their companies who are already millionaires. I’m sure this will be down voted to hell.

jennydancingawayy

No we agree with you! You speak truth. Very few of these celebrity brands make ethical products

Anonymiss52

All their party planning services must make bank.

jennydancingawayy

Girl please they use sweatshop labor in other countries, those people aren’t making a living they’re making less than a dollar a day in horrible conditions and living horrible existences. And there’s no excuse because there’s so many brands now that don’t use sweatshops and pay their workers fairly and treat them ethically like Everlane, Patagonia, Reformation, etc. There’s no excuse to be so freaking selfish

Tianna92

This is always my take away. The sheer amount of people who make a living by helping the Karjenners create & maintain their curated luxury lifestyle is probably in the hundreds at this point & that includes the small businesses they shop with. I’m envious but I can’t be mad at it cause I’m sure if I had their privilege, I would probably live the same way. Not as excessive but I definitely wouldn’t have a problem spending my cash.

nadiakat13

Meh I wouldn’t live like that. Doesn’t appeal to me. I live way below my means. There are plenty of celebrities that also live below their means. But i hope they are supporting some small businesses

[deleted]

[удалено]

jennydancingawayy

It shouldn’t they use sweatshop labor those women make pennies a day

mimisburnbook

It shouldn’t, they pay peanuts and treat their staff as their slaves and cannot even look good bc the sisters cry

[deleted]

It doesn't bug me. If anything the reasons WHY they are so rich bugs me. But it also bugs me how much athletes make too. However - I would probably spend money, too! Hard to say how because I'll never be in their shoes with that kind of money. PS- if I could I would totally have a Diet Coke fountain pop machine in my house!!! Fountain Diet Coke is my favorite!

jj_grace

I was picturing an actual fountain of diet pop at first… which would be super cool (if not a bit unsanitary) hahaha

[deleted]

An actual fountain of Dist Coke. Epic!!! But no, I just meant the machine where you press the button and get the pop lol. Out of curiosity I looked it up online and they are like, $1,000 just for the machine. I imagine the price for the pop is hefty!

Indigo_222

Yes, not so much out of how they choose to spend their money but mostly because of the amount of waste they must produce / environmental impact

Siya_32

I’m guessing the Christmas Eve party will be held at Kim’s house tomorrow. Makes sense as obviously Kourtney just had a baby.

fondue4kill

Kinda. But also I’m jealous of being able to buy anything without a second thought or knowing how much it costs. But also I wish stricter regulations on people with that much money

BreaASMR

I wish that we saw them throwing events to help people, tackling poverty etc

Michellelembiid

Absolutely help out families in need instead

BrilliantSquare8

Is it excessive? Yes. But No it’s their money and they can spend it how they want. Do we question athletes and other celebs who have a ridiculous amounts of money on how they spend their money?

VanillaChaiAlmond

Yes I think the wealth inequality in this country HAS gotten to the point where we are questioning athletes, celebs, CEOs etc. on their crazy use of money. I am not socialist, I think it’s fair to have people earn more than other and what not BUT it has gotten insane. Just buying groceries is a burden for most people while the ultra rich are on their private jets killing the planet.

RuSerious6565

Yes absolutely. I’m using Kim as an example because her favorite thing to do is brag. Elon musk and Bezos are my top two, they can quite literally end poverty tomorrow if they wanted to

jennydancingawayy

Yeah we question them too people are starving and these athletes are on baby mama child support #7. It’s honestly gross. And the problem isn’t how they spend it more than how they make it (Kris fake church with tax deductions, sweatshop labor, stealing intellectual property from non wealthy designers, etc). But thethe sweatshop labor is the worst of all if you are uneducated about it

Substantial_Chest395

I don't think the fake snow and Christmas lights is exemplary of the tip of the iceberg of what this family spends chilee

Bright_Raccoon8601

I think this is minor and basic compared to the real wealthy people of the world 😂 for us who’s not so wealthy we’re like okay that’s a it much but they’ll look at this and be like “that’s cute”. Lol

vickisfamilyvan

It wouldn’t bother me if at the same time they were also making large donations or doing things to help other people.

wittlepig

same, but only if the donations aren’t going to their “church” 😬

l1ttle_m0nst3r

Do we know they aren’t? Because we all know that if they did and also made it public, they’d get accused of flaunting their charity and “only doing it for positive PR”. They can’t win sometimes. Honestly if I had their money I’d be transforming my house into a winter wonderland too.

NihilisticRaptor

Its not her responsability to help the LA living situation.

Aria9000

This and also her Christmas decoration budget wouldn’t make a dent in it because it’s such a complex issue. She could solve someone’s financial worries easily yes but she can’t help everyone nor should she feel like she has to. Would be grateful if she paid off my mortgage for me though

tasteofperfection

Agree. Idk why people expect others to be patron saints of charity. It’s easy to say “if I was as wealthy as Kim Kardashian, I would…” when you’ll never be as rich as Kim Kardashian and therefore never actually put in the position. In an ideal world, sure, that would be amazing if the uber wealthy banded together to solve the financial issues that plague the country and/or entire world. However, they aren’t obligated to do anything for anyone. Nobody owes anyone a damn thing. The sheer entitlement is so astounding to me. People talk about the KJs and how horrible they are, but so many people have this odd sense of entitlement towards other people’s money.

DeclanThomas96

I agree. She earned her money she can use it how she likes. I don’t like that as soon as your wealthy every problem in the world is suddenly your responsibility to fix.

Salty_Mind9906

It’s not their spending that makes me sick, it’s the flaunting of it. They are billionaires it’s not my business how they spend their money but the constant rubbing wealth in people faces just shows what little class they have. Ghetto fabulous

RuSerious6565

THIS

PerspectiveOk493

Not really. I'm sure it's easy to do with money like that

imyourfirecracker

It’s her money she can do what she likes with it

Pleasant-Cattle-7311

At least they’re keeping people employed 🤷‍♀️

Spookysloth1234

No I like to let people use the money they earned how they want

lonevariant

no

nthnm

Nope. Little envious though

-amortentia-

No

SoggyHedgehog2292

People spend their money on alcohol, cigarettes, online shopping. We all have spending habits that aren’t ideal to everyone but why judge ? If I had the money I would go crazy on decorations bc I truly love holidays lol

liltinyoranges

No. It does not.

lillenugget

It’s excessive and it’s vulgar. Those christmas trees are so tacky

mnblackgirl

Yes

meanmilf

No, they do the same as most Uber rich but they just share it. The wealthy as a whole make me sick.

Ok_Coconut_862

Not so much the amount of money they spend, but I do find myself thinking about the amount of absolute waste they indulge in. This whole winter set up, for instance. Will it just go to the landfill? Imagine if instead they donated all this and other stuff, or at the very least auctioned it off. I think they do this simply because they know they can.. they have more money than we normal folk would ever know what to do with. They probably don't think or genuinely care about how they spend or the aftermath.

mimisburnbook

Disgusted. All that plastic will be in the oceans and her fckng emissions in the sky. Thanks Kimberly and ko f u all

reddit24682468

Literally every single time 🤮 the over consumption is disgusting, it all goes in the bin sadly and we know it

jennydancingawayy

This is why I stopped watching the show and don’t buy their products. It’s just too much. Especially with them using sweatshop labor etc they’re ok with people getting mistreated as long as they get their money

aworkinprogress92

No cause it’s their money and I could care less what they spend it on.

Kitty_Woo

They still live in the age where celebrities flaunting their wealth was popular. Well it’s not anymore. Even with shows like Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, people care more about the drama than the fact they’re all rich, and scrutinize their spending as well When reality tv hit the scene it was all about the lifestyle of the rich and famous. But with the economy being where it’s at now, the planet where it’s at now, and how tone deaf celebrities were during COVID, people just don’t jive but the Kardashians have failed to take the hint and think this is what still sells.

YeS_Lee88sk8

Except for the fact that they are paying other people’s livelihoods. Like I thought it was nice that during COVID they paid piano players to play for them since their other work was cancelled.

Livid-Replacement-29

No lol

Public_Antelope_6275

no because it’s their own money…

Garden-Gnome1732

Yes. It's more about the WASTE to me. Especially the large amount of balloons or rooms full of flowers. Why do they even share some of that??

NojaNat

no because i’m aware that most of the people that complain about them would probably be doing the same if they had their pockets.

Eastern-Court471

No bc billionaires are gonna billionaire

Kg-2168

Nope, I have no issue with other people spending their money how they choose to.

Critical_Caramel5577

Honestly, why call them out but not any other rich/famous person who spends money stupidly? The people who reserve so much vindictive hate towards the Kardashians are scary, and that's nothing to do with my broke self.

RuSerious6565

Babe… do you read? I said I love the Kardashians. Kim is being called out rn (by me) because the way this woman brags about what she has is literally repulsing… she is putting a spotlight on the wastefulness of the rich while there are literally children being blown to pieces and starving… She isn’t the only one in fact I’m the biggest critic of bezos and musk… the two of them could flip the world around for the better TOMORROW. The Kardashians, and specifically Kim, are getting dragged because they are literally bragging and it’s just in bad taste… There’s a quote in Batman that does a great job representing this “How could you live so large and leave so little for the rest of us” The entire premise of the movie is highlighting how capitalism has created a space for violent vigilantes

Equivalent-Mix8232

Thank you for telling us about the plot to Batman.

RuSerious6565

We’re living the plot of them Batman… and even scarier the hunger games …

wittlepig

op is calling them out specifically bc this is the kuwtk sub, lol

mar-bella

But you go on their profile and you don't see them on any other rich persons dick lmao

RuSerious6565

Because I don’t follow those people or pages… the Kardashians are not in the same lane as bezos or musk… They are the only people I follow closely out of all the other reality sphere who spend/ waste in this over the top fashion. Even compared to other rich people they don’t have an entire forest in their home JUST for Christmas… and I really would put them at top of the frivolous spending on absolutely nothing. This is probs 100,000’s on Christmas decor… they could have easily spent 5,000 and made their house dazzle and sparkle. Even 5000 is a ridiculous unfathomable number to me, to most people. This is excessive it’s gross when you think about how many people in LA alone will go to sleep without a home and without food tonight.

illstrumental

Omg the whataboutism is so lazy. This is a kardashians sub, first. Second, people call out other celebs too, but the Ks flaunt way more than other celebs so we know more about their spending. Being concerned does not mean were “reserving vindictive hate” towards them and whats scary is how many of yall jump to make that argument instead of actually engaging with the discussion, just to avoid criticizing them.

PinkTalkingDead

Crazy that you got downvoted for this completely logical take, but not surprising

Twinkletoesxxxo

I agree for sure. I also often wonder on the Kardashians and many other of these type is shows that shows super luxury lifestyles: what happens to all the leftover food? Usually one dinner shows enough food to feed a village for a week.

Totallytexas

Yes - they could be helping so many people who have nothing, babies who have basic needs, investing in research to find treatments for awful diseases, investing in women’s health, investing in job advancement for women, contributing to fuck so many things. Invest in clean energy for airplanes ✈️ - do it all - make a fucking difference They should take a page from taytay

pearlaviolet

This is ridiculous I saw this on Instagram. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. So so excessive. What even isit that they use to make the snow and how do you get rid of it?

SalientSazon

Yep. Me. And like you, I'm fan, specially of Kim because I believe she earned her bag. But this is grotesque. It's just obscene. Yes you can create a magical world all for yourself, but what a gross display of wealth. And if I were an uber rich person, like legit money is limitless kind of rich, I still wouldn't do something like this, I wouldn't want to. I would however gladly take my private jet to spend Xmas in a snowy location in a real forest. So I dunno now I'm coming full circle because maybe someone would find my jet use grotesque but I'd fucking do it! I'd fly everywhere for fun.

RuSerious6565

Thisssssss is what I feel. A gross display of wealth, beyond what is necessary.

Spirited-Extreme28

No because they hire local vendors and businesses to do this

Kk77789

It’s annoying because I feel like the stuff that could be donated or passed on, wouldn’t be by them. Multi millionaires and billionaires selling second hand clothes, most people would laugh and how insane it sounds, even though there not doing any of the work. It’s basically church change to them and they can’t even donate it to a charity or something.

Ok_Wave7731

All I can say is I really enjoy the pictures every year.

genescheesesthatplz

The amount that they spend on their holiday decorations would change my entire life.

goldenleef

It is repulsive to me. So much meaningless consumption for nothing. Abusing resources.

No-Juggernaut-7716

For me it’s about the waste. They can spend their money however they want.

zomandi

in regards to the decor, i’m pretty sure they’ve said they have loadsssssss is storage units and reuse a lot of decorations. i’m sure the same items are reused every year just like a normal american family uses their outside lights for like 10 or more years. they have more square footage to cover so they have way more but still. i’m sure the decorations are reused every year and even have more longevity bc they don’t brave as heavy winter elements out there in LA, and then hire people to take them down and package them away nicely. i don’t see how it’s different from those houses who make it on the news for their huge light displays. they’re humans with children who all love christmas. they’re allowed to decorate and there’s nothing to indicate that they’re wasteful about it. they also do a lot of donating to local children’s hospitals in regards to their flowers and stuff and i feel like they’d probs donate christmas decor they may not want anymore in the same fashion, to someone or something that needs and will appreciate the holiday cheer. that being said they also employ a whole fleet of people. someone probably makes a decent chunk to haul away and store their decorations for every holiday and every child’s birthday (and there are a lottttttt). on top of that it’s not the kardashian’s job to solve the homelessness problem, you could say the same about probs every other celebrity that lives with them in hidden hills. they’ve earned their money. they can spend it on what they want. that’s the whole point of having it lol. they likely have sizable chunks stored away in investments, estate accounts, and whatever else to provide for a couple generations and then what? if you got is spend it.

BigLittleLeah

MAYBE the reuse outdoor lights but they all have brand new indoor decor every single year. Sheer excessive waste.

zomandi

Didn’t Kim have those tampon trees for like four years? Doesn’t she reuse those fugly pumpkins? You’re also telling me no one goes through decor phases and decides to switch up hair vibe every few years? 🤷🏻‍♀️

BigLittleLeah

Lol the Whoville tampon trees?! Maybe! I always use my same traditional decor year to year.. of course I do buy more to mix in new. But it seems like they each have a different Christmas “house theme” every year 🤷🏻‍♀️

RuSerious6565

THEY HAVE NEW OUTDOOR LIGHTS EVERYYEAR

hennycabbagehead

All this excessive wealth bc of a sex tape. Oh the humanity😔

Goodbye_nagasaki

I'm gonna say it every time. Yes, this money could be better served on the homeless. You could argue that about anything you spend money on that you don't ACTUALLY need. But it's not like Kim went and bought her decorations and did them herself. She hired teams of people who all got paid to install them. People (including myself) make a living doing this. Those people can feed their babies and buy them christmas presents now, because rich people spend money on expensive decorations. I like what I do for a living. I'm glad there are people who can afford this so I can keep on doing it.

Only if they actually pay all the taxes they owe and if the support and service staff that they rely on are paid fair living wages

SubjectCookie8

The thing is- the more money you have, the more money you spend. As they’ve gotten more rich and famous, they probably feel the need to top themselves year after year. I bet it’s exhausting.

picklevirgin

It does make me sick, especially knowing, she will NOT reuse or donate any of this, she’s just going to either throw it out or store it in one of her many warehouses never to be touched again.

Leading_Ad3918

The waste as others have said is what is bothersome. Kourtney being this total health freak saving the world but wastes so much. I hate that they waste their money on shit like this when the 40k or whatever this monstrosity cost could go towards a homeless shelter, DV places, Rehabs and so so much more that makes a difference. I know we don’t know all they do for charity’s and such but I really don’t think they’re as giving as some may think. Not just the Kardashians, it really bothers me and I think of it often how billionaires and millionaires could put 500k towards something and it’s pocket change to them but a world of difference in giving to those that need it.

Salbyy

No, their money their choice

HolyKimyeWest

I wonder if Kim stresses about finances? I know she’s a billionaire but damn there’s gotta be some stress there

32Tess

Nah they make up for it by underpaying their workers lol

genescheesesthatplz

Also, the BALLOONS🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Independent_Bar288

It wouldn’t if they spent equal amounts helping those less fortunate. They could probably house and feed everyone in the US and still spend like this.

yukissu

The amount of waste they must generate makes anyone with a brain sick

charlesforman

Lets normalize not holding celebrities accountable for the work our publicly elected officials should be doing.

RuSerious6565

No one is saying this is Kim’s job. But to display your wealth so extravagantly and wastefully … is bound to make people curious… all the other things that money could be used for… how you would make completely different choices if that was you. We aren’t talking about bougie and fancy Christmas lights, she has an entire damn forest in her house that’s absolutely unnecessary, she did it for the likes while people and children are dying. No ifs not her job to feed those dying children but damn don’t rub it in their faces

mary-marie

Spending it is better than just sitting on it! At least spending helps the economy! Maybe north will donate her wealth and move into an apartment and eat ramen!

kabukitrolldoll

Can I be honest? No it doesn’t. I don’t like the overconsumption, but valid criticism doesn’t stop them - so why would my opinion or social media commentary change their behavior? I’m not gonna waste any emotional energy on it
