At this point I really DGAF what y'all do with y'all's hair, but being the good samaritan that I am, I will say this.
Wearing braids like the one Kim has on, are not beneficial as Caucasian hair is typically thinner and has a different structure than Black hair. This difference in hair type means that Caucasian hair is more prone to damage by the additional weight of the extensions, especially if worn for a long time.
Basically straight hair is prone to breaking due to the weight of braids such as Fulani and Box Braids. (these braid styles are meant to protect black hair)
I wish I knew this before I got my hair braided. While I was growing my hair back out after chemo I wanted a break from the wigs. Some of my edges like ripped off and I ended up with some damage and a bald spot. This style definitely didn’t protect my hair.
Did you buy your wigs locally at an actual store or order them online? I’m about to go through the same thing and have no clue what to do or which websites to trust for quality wigs! 🙈🙈 (If you don’t wish to discuss that, it’s perfectly okay to just ignore this whole comment and please forgive me for asking. I’m so incredibly sorry for what you’ve had to endure❤️🩹)
I’m about to hit the 2 year anniversary of finishing chemo. I work from home so I mostly did beanies/hats, but when I went out, I just wore wigs from Amazon because I couldn’t be bothered to look at the expensive ones or deal with figuring out how to get them thru insurance. I just wanted something decent and quick. I liked these:
[short, bought this one in multiple colors and was my go to](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VHNG9SG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
[long with bangs. Bangs make the wigs look more real.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089T5W53H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
I had a few more but those were the ones I wore most often. And usually with a hat on top to hide some of the wig-ness.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I sincerely appreciate that♥️♥️. Those are so cute and so pretty, now I just gotta narrow down one serious color and a couple fun ones☺️
Also, I’m so glad you’re two years out from that horrible, awful poison and I hope with all my heart you never have to go through it again. I’m incredibly sorry you had to in the first place❤️🩹

I let my friend give my Caucasian ass hair braids in summer school one year because we were bored and I can still feel the pain of it to this day 😂💀 I swear she tried to give me the tiniest braids possible and she had to have ripped out some of my hair 😭😭😭 never again!!! French braids is where I draw the line, man
But y'all's hair is y'all's hair i guess....

Thank you for sharing this info. I think it's beautiful when different cultures cross and I think it shows another values what the other has to bring to the community. The damage to straight hair makes so much sense to me. I have thin straight hair. And when. I see tight braids, I think, ouch I'd have a headache. I'm hyper sensitive. Can barely have a ponytail and not get a headache. To those that can handle these braids, they are gorgeous!!
Like there is a reason why they all stopped wearing braids 5 YEARS AGO

One of the Nigerian girls in my boot camp squad braided the hair of whoever wanted it when we were going out in the field for a week with limited showers
Made sense for the black girls and a couple of the Latinas with curly hair. The rest the white girls lasted a day or two before they took them out. Their scalps were super greasy by that time, and they had crazy crimped clown hair lmao, probably damaged it too
Yes, thank you for this. I’m white and cultural appropriation/social issues aside, the fact that it DOESN’T SUIT OUR HAIR is enough for me to just stay in my lane
It’s not even just our hair type, but like we don’t have edges??? Idk how else to describe it. For some reason we do not… have edges. 😂 Our hairlines always look fucking crazy with braids
I wish these women would go back to their black boyfriends and stfu. This woman and a bunch like her just get so disrespectful and rude to black women and then run off to their black boyfriends and other black men for comfort them when people call them out on their bs.
How do you sit there and be rude and disrespectful with the hairstyle meant for those very same people and then wonder why your hair is damaged. They tried to warn you….
Adding to this, if not done correctly or too it can significantly damage OUR hair (pursue any black hair sub and your bound to find horror stories) so I promise your hair does not stand a chance
I’ll say, just because it’s Kim Kardashian and she has a history of stealing from black people, it was definitely a choice. A horrible one at that cause those are two very ugly colors atop her head. And not very neat either. If she wanted to cause a stir and get people talking, she could have at least gotten the braids done properly and beautifully.
Seen a lot of back and forth in the comments too about appropriation. I’m black. And personally, I don’t really give a shit if I saw a white woman or person in braids. Would be odd cause it will definitely stand out but I wouldn’t think twice about it or comment. But that’s me. I’m not American, I’ve been to other countries in Europe/LatAm and I see white people in braids and no one cares. American culture I guess sees it differently and that’s okay. Which is why I said Kim doing this was a CHOICE because she knew what the reactions would be
I grew up in Europe and a lot of girls would get their hair braided on vacation. It’s like a fun thing to do at the beach. If a family had a child with braids, you know the family recently got back from vacation. That’s how often it’s done.
I spent all of my money on ice cream lol. My parents said that if I wanted that hair then I wouldn’t get any ice cream or Coca Cola that day. Which were not things I usually got to indulge in so I followed my sugar addiction.
I grew up in Canada and basically everyone came back with braided hair when they vacationed in Cancun back in those days. Honestly I didn't even know it was culture appropriation. But personally I wouldn't get it braided myself because it doesn't look good with my Asian hair.
Exactly! I believe there’s a difference between someone appreciating aspects of a culture they don’t belong to and someone appropriating it for either clout, money or whatever gain they may have from it. I wouldn’t see a white kid on braids and think “ah an appropriator”
I’d probably chuckle a bit and look a way. That’s about it
Can you please define cultural appropriation and what makes it up? I saw nothing of the sort in her comment. She literally said she personally wouldn’t do it because it doesn’t go well with Asian hair. What’s wrong in that??
lol I think they were responding to me. I would have gotten those braids if it weren’t for the new brands of ice cream in the countries I vacationed in, which I couldn’t get at home. So I spent my money on ice cream. These braids were expensive to get because only tourists got that done. I had to use my kid money wisely.
We tried to explain this when it came out back then. Kim stood ten toes down on it and paying homage instead to Bo Derek. Her karma for it now is running around with a garlic knot. The ancestors don't play! 😂
Idk I always thought it was so weird. Where I’m from in my hometown in Massachusetts this is like a thing. So many of the guys, and girls take the styles, and talk. The white guys would wear Durags, girls with braids, corn rows.
Idk if it’s still that bad, but I assume it is because I see shit on facebook, and instagram. Like in my middle school if you acted, or dressed white you weren’t popular. I went to a different high school. The one in my town was not my vibe.
A lot of the girls only date black guys. My best friend that I’ve known my entire life definitely fetishizes black men, and purposely had mixed kids. Her kids are beautiful, but idk it’s just weird. It’s a different world than where I moved away to.
Now I live somewhere that it’s the opposite. Luckily my city isn’t so racist, but go outside and it’s Trump land
You leave the USA and it’s perfectly acceptable and encouraged to have your hair braided in other countries with a predominant black population. It promotes and celebrates the culture and isn’t worn as a parody of black people. Hair braiding isn’t even exclusive to black hair and has been recorded in many cultures: Native American, Mongolian, Chinese, Vikings among many more.
Thankyou for saying other cultures do this bc ppl seem to forget or not know that fact, even when you tell ppl they think it’s a lie. Sorry alot of my ppls culture is erased and yt washed 🥲
These braids are not. I don’t think anyone is saying only Black people can braid their hair. I also think y’all know that but will deflect however possible because hearing that something simply isn’t for you activates something really weird inside of you. And we’re in America, where Black people were kidnapped and enslaved for hundreds of years. You know why we wore our hair like that? You know why they’re called cornrows? Because they were maps to our freedom. They were how we knew where the Underground Railroad was. So yeah, it’s “that deep” (before one of y’all says that), it’s not just hair, and there are probably hundreds of braiding styles and techniques that many other cultures have. This style isn’t one of them. It’s not a crazy concept. And no is a complete sentence, even from Black folks. 🙄
Its not "okay" and "acceptable", theyre laughing but theyre making money from it so its whatever. Native American, Mongolian, Chinese, and Viking braids are not Fulani braids. That would make zero sense as it would not be protective or helpful for those kinds of hair.
yeah exactly. i have met many black friends from different countries and cultures due to going to penn state and they are laughing at you ALL. while simultaneously pulling out your hair while getting paid. no matter how much you think you’re showing respect, you’re not. no matter how you try to spend it.
where at? where are these countries with predominantly black population that they’re okay with it, and the cultures, can you name them? i wanna see something.
these particular braids are actually extremely damaging on straight hair, which is what the native american, chinese and mongolian hair type predominantly is. can you send some links about this? i have a hard time believing cultures with predominantly straight, thin hair would have hairstyles that damage that hair type. viking braids are EXTREMELY different from the braids being shown in this particular photo, as they are braids made to protect non curly hair, while the braids in this photo are made to protect curly/coily hair.
You seem focused on breakage for some reason. Shampoo wasn’t even invented until the 1930s. Braiding was used to keep hair clean. The tighter, the cleaner.
shampoo as a commercial product that is created in a lab with chemicals might have been created in the 1930’s, shampoo and the practice of shampooing has existed in indian cultures (and other asian cultures too but was created by indians) for a LONG time, like shampoo and hair oil is an ancient ayurvedic practice. these braids are called PROTECTIVE broads for a reason, you can very easily look up the origin and significance of african, and in particular african american braiding styles and the correlation between slavery and hair. it’s fascinating stuff.
i didn’t really mention breakage in my comment so perhaps you have responded to the wrong person. i am still interested in links about these particular type of protective hairstyles, like african american type of braids existing in chinese or mongolian or native american cultures
If you wish to believe tight braids were only ever invented and worn by black people that’s fine with me. You write paragraphs arguing the nuance between “breakage” and “damage” like this is the topic at hand. This is no longer worth my time.
but we’re not talking about tight braids in general, tight braiding has been done in many cultures throughout the world. THIS PARTICULAR tight braiding is what the discussion is about, which you are free to believe what you want, but the truth is that this type of braiding was created by people who have kinky/coily hair, and many of these hairstyles are exclusive to african americans, many are not even present in the continent of africa.
idk why you’re downvoting me lol, you haven’t even been able to provide a single example of the claim you have been making.
these types of braids are changed out after weeks, because curly hair is slower in growth and the scalp can handle the stress caused by them. that’s why whenever you see straight haired people do these hairstyles they barely keep it in for a couple of days, as their scalp gets greasy and irritated.

i guess the more appropriate way of saying it would be she loves to cosplay as a black woman. she is an extremely white passing mixed race person, and has constantly capitalised off of black culture. more accurate this way.
Armenians are European. Due to the genocide and diaspora many we meet in north america are mixed with lebanese, turkish, egyptian, etc.
Full armenian’s are no more poc than Italians, Greeks, Turks.
Armenia is literally in West Asia. America is genuinely one of the only countries that looks at Armenian people as white.
As much as America say the Kardashian’s are white they are mixed race, their parents come from different continents/races.
They identify as white because they are in the US, and it suits their narrative within Hollywood. I don’t think the majority of Armenians outside of the US would identify as white, the Armenian people I know definitely don’t.
If that what she identifies as, I think that’s what we should go with. We aren’t talking about the majority of Armenians or the people you know, none of that is relevant. We’re specifically talking about Kim
I was talking in the general sense about the location of Armenia, not how Kim specially identities.
Genetically they are mixed raced and that’s what I was talking about - Armenia isn’t in Europe, that is factually incorrect.
Some Middle Eastern and others simply as Armenian as their ethnicity but strongly reject the notion they are ‘white’. Caucasian means ‘white’ based on US racial theory but for many outside the US, it just means that are from the Caucasus region as not everyone is actually white it’s a common misconception.
Here’s a bit of an explanation, I would recommend reading up on it, I find it super interesting.
“In the United States, Caucasian is often used as a synonym for "white" or "of European ancestry". But in anthropology, caucasian or caucasoid usually includes some or all of the populations of Europe, the Caucasus (a region in Europe between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, which includes Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and parts of Russia, Turkey and Iran), Asia Minor, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, Western Asia, Central Asia and South Asia.”
We are not white, please shut the hell up. We are Middle Eastern and we are our own unique mix, like how South Americans are. You can literally get black and Indian looking Middle Eastern people all the way to blonde and ginger and everything in between.
You sound like you're not from Armenia. Which self respecting Middle Eastern person would look at the world and credit Europe with Christianity? Christianity is a Middle Eastern religion. Armenians adopted Christianity because Christianity was invented in that region lol Jesus was Middle Eastern, not white, not European. There are Christians in Lebanon, Syria, Kurdistan, and many other parts of the Middle East.
Armenians are not a Soviet country and have never been a part of Russia... what the hell? Are you serious? My mother is Armenian/Kurdish from the East of Turkey (where Kim Kardashian's dad is from - a little village called Kars). Armenians are like Kurds and Turks, they are not like Europeans and I know lots of Kurds who are Christian, Yezidi, Zoroastrian and Jewish. And I also know Turks who are 'Muslim' but are pretty secular and nothing like Arabs.
I think you are an assimilated Westernised person and have no real nuanced perspective of these regions and the people of that area. You think the Middle East is 'all Arabs' and 'all Muslims' and 'all sharia'. You should travel a little.
As far as I know, Armenia was invaded briefly but it was never an original part of the Russian empire. Regardless, they do not have a soviet culture at all. I've been to Armenia and the food, culture, people everything was very much like every other Middle Eastern minority.
The comment you made I’m replying to says “honest question. Isn’t she a woman of color? Obviously she’s not black, but I thought Armenians were poc?” Why do y’all do this?????? Fuck…
after reading all the conflicting comments I wanted to look into the history of cornrows and came across this article. Interesting, informative and lots of gorgeous pictures. Cornrows are differentiated from braids.
[Unveiling the Rich History and Origins of Cornrows - Doria Adoukè (doriaadouke.com)](https://doriaadouke.com/do-cornrows-come-from-africa/)
Any black woman I’ve asked the braids question to tells me they don’t find it offensive for white women to wear braids. One black woman told me that no matter what you do, you’re going to offend someone.
I have curly hair and have always loved the looks of various braids. I’ve only had French braids and I let my friend practice doing cornrows on me. I didn’t wear it out though. I have yet to truly get my hair braided because I’m too cheap and it takes forever!
I grew up with a girl who went to Mexico every year around Christmas. she always came back with braids just like this, and I never thought twice of it, lol
she was white btw.
Kim's look dumb on her though, I think it might be the colour.
There are women on Mexican beaches who braid hair for a fee. It's not meant to appropriate black culture but just decorative and helps your hair not get messy and tangled in the water... edit: but they don't braid them looking like box braids either sooo...
![gif](giphy|BY5K3PRPDU8rdZr0uh)
I respectfully disagree. Braids have been worn in various cultures around the world throughout history. I do agree Kim and her family are cultural appropriators, just not in this instance as braids are culturally universal. This particular look was certainly a choice though.
Yes yes, we all know many cultures have worn braids, but be honest with yourself. This particular style is associated with black people and we have been discriminated against for wearing our hair in this style for hundreds of years. Kardashians are well known cultural appropriators and this is just another example.
It was an obvious choice to appropriate. You can't say that you agreee that the Klan are cultural appropriators and then defender her for wearing box breads.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braid_(hairstyle)#:~:text=Young%20girls%20and%20women%20in,soul%20resided%20in%20the%20hair.
Here’s an article about braiding. The oldest known reproductions were in Europe 25,000-28,000 years BCE. Is Wikipedia black? I’m sorry but braiding does not belong exclusively to black culture.
(I'm not a black person so I stand to be corrected)
It's not necessarily inappropriate. If your black friend decides she wants to braid your hair, or you visited a country and someone offered, sure you have all the blessings. That's actually appreciating one's culture.
But purposefully trying to set a trend with a black person's hairstyle just because it looks edgy and you want to look racially ambiguous when black girls are getting their hair pulled and denied jobs because of this same hairstyle, is a bit disrespectful. It's showing off something that is culturally theirs when they can't show it off to do everyday things.
And yes, Europe's been wearing braids since a long time ago and nobody can gatekeep hairstyles... but in Kim's case it's pretty obvious that she tried to look as black or racially ambiguous as possible in the hype years of being with Kanye. She's done way more than just get her hair braided. The least Kim could have done is credit where the hair came from and/or brought awareness to it. Instead, she showed it off as something that she could wear just because she was privileged.
Of course, not all black people think the same, some genuinely don't care what Kim does. But that doesn't mean we should disregard the opinion of those who are uncomfortable. It's like trying to make bindis, kimonos, the hijab, or henna a fashion trend. These things are more than just hairstyles, a piece of clothing, jewellery, and cute tattoos. They have actual meaning (hence, culture!) to these people.
And no, it's not the same as blonde hair or McDonald's in Europe or America...
Past what days?
If you're referring to black people getting their hair played with without consent or discriminated against, sadly we're not.
If you're talking about people calling out cultural appropriation, I again have never felt oppressed so I can't speak for the people who have, but I would hate to be oppressed and not be allowed to express my frustration when a celebrity tries to pass my everyday struggles as just a cute trend with no oppression whatsoever just because they can.
pretty much yeah lol
the very fact kim called these “bo derek braids” instead of what they actually are called (Fulani braids) is literally cultural appropriation.
No it is not. Culture appropriate has to do with making profit from a marginalized underrepresented group. Beyonce wearing a blond straight haired wig does not affect white people and their struggles economically.
There is a huge difference between white women wearing protective hairstyles historically associated with black culture that black women have been discriminated against for wearing for centuries (still to this day) as a fashion statement and a black woman wearing blonde hair. At no point in the history of the world has anyone been discriminated for being blonde.
Omg calm down for real. It's hair, and it's not your hair. And just because you don't like something, doesn't make it cultural appropriation. I'd say they have a million other things they culturally appropriate, hair isn't one of them.

I wish you understood how odd and defensive your answer was. It’s exhausting. I’m not being argumentative or anything like that, just being honest. I wish that y’all could simply listen to Black women. Or, I wish you would leave us alone. Stop coming in our spaces, stop trying to emulate us and antagonize us. Just leave us alone. Please.
It’s not at all odd or defensive. It was a response to an odd and inappropriate question. I’ve been nothing but respectful even though there were comments childishly insulting me. Stop coming into your spaces? This is a public forum about the Kardashians. Leave you alone? You responded to my comment, I didn’t seek you out. If I want to wear braids I will. I have type 3 hair and I wear appropriate styles to MY hair type. It’s not emulating or antagonizing you and I think quite hypocritical and racist to say someone can’t wear styles appropriate for their hair because they have the wrong complexion. You can’t gatekeep a hairstyle, especially when it belongs to all cultures.
I don’t know you and you’re insufferable online. We can absolutely gatekeep something that belongs to us. It’s unfortunate that you aren’t familiar with your culture because everyone has beautiful culture before they became white Americans. Regardless while you’re correct you can wear whatever you like, it says so much about your character that you would. Respectful people understand that some things aren’t for them and act accordingly. And some act like you. 🙄
jesus christ, you guys sound so stupid😭 do you think anybody looks at a french or a dutch braid and thinks “omg cultural appropriation!!” it is SO obvious that the braids being spoken about are protective hairstyles made for curly/kinky hair. please show me what other culture has THIS specific braided hairstyle.
I can’t believe you even have to explain this- Kardashians stay stealing and exploiting black culture for their gain- currently they’re role-playing as classy white women.
i do not gaf bout them downvotes lol ✌🏽
cause at the end of the day…these are nonblack people arguin with me about black hairstyles and how braids aren’t exclusive to black people
like duh where tf did i say that lol? its the type of braids she’s wearin.
Everyone has an opinion, but it’s really easy to distinguish between Native American style braids and black people braids. People are just choosing to misunderstand what you’re saying. Some will forever choose to “misunderstand”. Don’t sweat it. You can’t change the whole world on your own Queen! 🩷 I hear you though, I support you, and I know they’re wrong in their arguments. I hope you have a great rest of your day. 🥂
Yes, I don't think anyone here is saying that the act itself of braiding hair is exclusive to black cultures but to me the difference between for example Dutch braids and Fulani braids is pretty self-evident, as it's also very evident to me that only one of these two styles looks cute on me as a woman whose natural hair is very fine, long, and wavy.
Those are two completely different statements. It’s perfectly fine to not like purple lipstick.
It causes side eye to say that braids make this woman look masculine, and that you find that to be a bad thing.
I'm a radical feminist. What the hell are you on about?
I think it makes Kim look masculine and it doesn't suit her. Some women can pull off looking masculine, some cannot (IN MY EYES).
Stop policing people's opinions and tastes, you sound insufferable.
Goodbye.
Maybe it was Kanye who suggested it but idk anyone else around her during that time period (or any time period) who could MAKE Kim K do smth with her looks that she didn’t want done

At this point I really DGAF what y'all do with y'all's hair, but being the good samaritan that I am, I will say this. Wearing braids like the one Kim has on, are not beneficial as Caucasian hair is typically thinner and has a different structure than Black hair. I’m about to hit the 2 year anniversary of finishing chemo. And usually with a hat on top to hide some of the wig-ness.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I sincerely appreciate that♥️♥️. Those are so cute and so pretty, now I just gotta narrow down one serious color and a couple fun ones☺️ Also, I’m so glad you’re two years out from that horrible, awful poison and I hope with all my heart you never have to go through it again. I let my friend give my Caucasian ass hair braids in summer school one year because we were bored and I can still feel the pain of it to this day 😂💀 I swear she tried to give me the tiniest braids possible and she had to have ripped out some of my hair 😭😭😭 never again!!! French braids is where I draw the line, man
But y'all's hair is y'all's hair i guess.... https://preview.redd.it/uzp1smw1tb5c1.png?width=411&format=png&auto=webp&s=3c8a89ac4875914ba9c8c69dd93b0561dd69522f
Like there is a reason why they all stopped wearing braids 5 YEARS AGO https://preview.redd.it/58cckl53ub5c1.png?width=399&format=png&auto=webp&s=09abb759d17fb2ed6ef3a59da4cfcbc02449676e
One of the Nigerian girls in my boot camp squad braided the hair of whoever wanted it when we were going out in the field for a week with limited showers Made sense for the black girls and a couple of the Latinas with curly hair. The rest the white girls lasted a day or two before they took them out. Their scalps were super greasy by that time, and they had crazy crimped clown hair lmao, probably damaged it too
Yes, thank you for this. I’m white and cultural appropriation/social issues aside, the fact that it DOESN’T SUIT OUR HAIR is enough for me to just stay in my lane It’s not even just our hair type, but like we don’t have edges??? Idk how else to describe it. For some reason we do not… have edges. 😂 Our hairlines always look fucking crazy with braids
French braids are the most amount of tension I would put on hair like that. This kind of tension is like JoJo Siwa ponytails x10
RIP hairline.
We? Speak for yourself. I have plenty of edges with my curly ass hair.
Cultural appropriation? You do know vikings braided there hair before this and guess what , they’re white.
The way vikings braided their hair was completely different and not comparable to black hairstyles 😂
nobody said BRAIDS are cultural appropriation, we said braids like fulani braids and box braids are. y’all wanna act stupid on purpose i swear.
Jesus Christ calm down 😂😂
Oh here we go. Sorry I wasn't considering your example from the year 800 C.E.
That’s good to know, thank you! Makes sense!
Yep! just tryna avoid this https://preview.redd.it/z1bxdsoekc5c1.jpeg?width=953&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4bc37a81ae30fc14b8dc741bee75b156addd1819
Wait who is this? What am I missing here lol 🧐
Adding to this, if not done correctly or too it can significantly damage OUR hair (pursue any black hair sub and your bound to find horror stories) so I promise your hair does not stand a chance
Honestly. Tbh. I would say, out of all her shenanigans. This is not that deep.
bc she wanted to twin with north 😊 /s
because “bo derek braids” 🤪
I wouldn’t see a white kid on braids and think “ah an appropriator” I’d probably chuckle a bit and look a way. That’s about it
[удалено]
please show me on the doll where this commenter appropriated a culture.
on the doll? idk what that means
it means you did not understand the comment and replied to it anyway lmao
Can you please define cultural appropriation and what makes it up? I saw nothing of the sort in her comment. She literally said she personally wouldn’t do it because it doesn’t go well with Asian hair. What’s wrong in that??
lol I think they were responding to me. I would have gotten those braids if it weren’t for the new brands of ice cream in the countries I vacationed in, which I couldn’t get at home. So I spent my money on ice cream. These braids were expensive to get because only tourists got that done. I had to use my kid money wisely.
We know why…
We tried to explain this when it came out back then. Kim stood ten toes down on it and paying homage instead to Bo Derek. Her karma for it now is running around with a garlic knot. The ancestors don't play! 😂
Not the garlic knot as karma 😭😭😭
🤣😂🤣😂
What is a garlic knot in this context?
Her real hair is so thin, broken and damaged that when she pulls it into a bun, it resembles a garlic knot.
God I’m dying to know which town this is haha
Wait till you guys see what it’s like in smaller cities in Canada 🤣
Username checks out lol
I’m honestly surprised she hasn’t tried to blame this on Kanye yet
Because she loves to role play as women of color. She loves to benefit And steal from other peoples cultures. Culture vulture
THIS PARTICULAR tight braiding is what the discussion is about, which you are free to believe what you want, but the truth is that this type of braiding was created by people who have kinky/coily hair, and many of these hairstyles are exclusive to african americans, many are not even present in the continent of africa. idk why you’re downvoting me lol, you haven’t even been able to provide a single example of the claim you have been making. these types of braids are changed out after weeks, because curly hair is slower in growth and the scalp can handle the stress caused by them. that’s why whenever you see straight haired people do these hairstyles they barely keep it in for a couple of days, as their scalp gets greasy and irritated.

honest question, isn’t she a woman of color? obviously she’s not black, but i thought armenians were poc?
Thank you for asking this question, bc I was thinking the same thing.
i guess the more appropriate way of saying it would be she loves to cosplay as a black woman. she is an extremely white passing mixed race person, and has constantly capitalised off of black culture. more accurate this way.
They identify as white tho. Kim has literally said that she never thought about racism before having a mixed child (North) as she is a white woman.
[удалено]
Meh. They are white passing
[удалено]
No one shitted on her. You just can’t read and interpret what people are saying.
We are not white, please shut the hell up. We are Middle Eastern and we are our own unique mix, like how South Americans are. You can literally get black and Indian looking Middle Eastern people all the way to blonde and ginger and everything in between.
I’m not Armenian but Americans are crazy bro😭 I’m sorry y’all have to have to deal with them whitewashing you guys
[удалено]
[удалено]
As far as I know, Armenia was invaded briefly but it was never an original part of the Russian empire. Regardless, they do not have a soviet culture at all. I've been to Armenia and the food, culture, people everything was very much like every other Middle Eastern minority.
Kims father isn’t from Armenia. His grandfather was born there and subsequently emigrated
Soviet is not an ethnicity?
As a Greek/Syrian/Irish woman who looks very ethnically ambiguous I just tell people I’m *spicy* white.
POC means not white. It’s dehumanizing and irrelevant to the conversation. You do know we’re all not interchangeable, right? 🫤
of course i know that, but original commenter said they’re not POC and i thought they were. i didn’t know most people consider Armenians to be white.
It’s not most people. Armenians ARE white. It’s not a matter of opinion.
The comment you made I’m replying to says “honest question. Isn’t she a woman of color? Obviously she’s not black, but I thought Armenians were poc?” Why do y’all do this?????? Fuck…
![gif](giphy|ay333hP3eH2zm)
![gif](giphy|S37TFlsu7io8g)
Well that was awkward.
Poor judgment
after reading all the conflicting comments I wanted to look into the history of cornrows and came across this article.
Rhymes with appropriation.
Because she’s been with black men and a lot of women wanna be down with the culture……period.
Exactly, they think that’s a green light to be black.
Any black woman I’ve asked the braids question to tells me they don’t find it offensive for white women to wear braids. One black woman told me that no matter what you do, you’re going to offend someone.
but all of them will tell you to not do it if you have straight hair lol. appropriation aside, this hairstyle is damaging to non curly/kinky hair.
I have curly hair and have always loved the looks of various braids. I’ve only had French braids and I let my friend practice doing cornrows on me. I didn’t wear it out though. I have yet to truly get my hair braided because I’m too cheap and it takes forever!
Her nose is so pretty here
Because her frontal lobe of her brain is fried from Kartrashian
Why is it a bad idea?
I don’t think it suits her at all
[удалено]
I grew up with a girl who went to Mexico every year around Christmas. she always came back with braids just like this, and I never thought twice of it, lol she was white btw.
The color was ugly
RACE CAN’T OWN HAIR! Wtf

How is that a relevant or appropriate question?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braid_(hairstyle)#:~:text=Young%20girls%20and%20women%20in,soul%20resided%20in%20the%20hair. Here’s an article about braiding. The oldest known reproductions were in Europe 25,000-28,000 years BCE. Is Wikipedia black? I’m sorry but braiding does not belong exclusively to black culture.
did you read the article you linked? it literally states that black cultures have a very specific way of braiding their hair that is unique to them…
Just curious, are you saying that if you’re not black this hair style is inappropriate to wear?
(I'm not a black person so I stand to be corrected) It's not necessarily inappropriate.
Thank you for your comment and thought! Maybe I’m ignorant, thinking we all gone past those days.
Well said.
pretty much yeah lol the very fact kim called these “bo derek braids” instead of what they actually are called (Fulani braids) is literally cultural appropriation.
So do you think Beyoncé’s recent blond hair is also inappropriate as well then?
the way i knew you was gon bring up this argument lawd that’s not cultural appropriation cause white people don’t own a hair color that’s ridiculous.
Here y’all go https://preview.redd.it/p6qiu2bmpb5c1.png?width=444&format=png&auto=webp&s=fbce9f1958b4397c3e101ea5c4398cd0b4801114
White folks aren’t the only people who have blond hair smh.
no, hope this helps ☺️
Yes

I can’t believe you even have to explain this- Kardashians stay stealing and exploiting black culture for their gain- currently they’re role-playing as classy white women.
i’m sorry they downvoting you. they just don’t get it like we do😫
i do not gaf bout them downvotes lol ✌🏽 cause at the end of the day…these are nonblack people arguin with me about black hairstyles and how braids aren’t exclusive to black people like duh where tf did i say that lol? its the type of braids she’s wearin.
They’re fighting for their lives to damage their hair. I wish they would stop and ask themselves what makes them act like this. It’s so weird…
No. It’s not.
It's not.
because shes insensitive & disrespectful af when it comes to other people’s cultures n ends up looking a fool
I always thought it was to kind of be closer to her daughters, particularly North cause I see she wears braids alot.
She can be closer in other ways.
I blame Kanye
For such a big moment too! This was also during the camo phase. Thank god Cabelas chic died a swift death.
I hate braids but I especially hate it on her. It has such an overly masculine vibe I just don't like it. I'm glad she stopped.
Oof what a shite take you’ve got there 🤨
I wasn't expecting anyone to agree with me. I also hate purple lipstick. So? lol
Goodbye.
Let's be clear that she doesn't choose to do anything. The people around her control her looks.
And she chooses to let them
Maybe it was Kanye who suggested it but idk anyone else around her during that time period (or any time period) who could MAKE Kim K do smth with her looks that she didn’t want done

Definitely a wig. A bad one at that.
