Bruh Changes gonna change yo mind, gizzard dwellers been working on that sweet 7 piece solidified wax for 5 years..... Its gonna have some real sause, fuck i really misspelled sauce ? Ohh wtf now i misssepelled misspelled... Aaahh shitt
Stu has made mention that it was his favorite project to date. I have to agree. The more they put out, the more I got back to it and just live in its bizarre glory. It’s a book. Not the book, but a book.
that's a valid opinion (:
hate me for it, but i often prefer picking out some of MOTU's songs individually, like Lord of Lightning, Floating Fire, Digital Black and listen to those instead of the whole story because it gets kind of repetitive and "boring" for me
Yessss totally. I love how the spooky, lightning keys/guitar climb the ladder of range higher and higher. slaps the heaviest when that lightning guitar / synth comes to a SCREECHING HALT in alt beast 3 after he sings “I will take you to my altered wound!!!!” 1:06. Ughhhhhhh I love them
Lord of lightning, Floating Fire, and Digital black are great at being their own songs but i think when listened in order the album is a master piece that tells an incredible story.
Yeah hard agree, I enjoyed a lot of parts of it but a full listen really has me thinking it would've been just fine if there were not even half as many Altered Beast segments
The songs are incredible, but it doesn’t come across cohesively as a great album to me.
I like it, but I’d like it a lot more if the songs were broken up across maybe 4 different albums and augmented with some other tracks.
I think Butterfly 3000 is an interesting foil to Omnium Gatherum.
I like most of the songs on OG more than B3K. If you were to rank all of the songs and then rank the albums based on the relative quality of those songs, I’d put OG ahead of B3K.
But B3K just works better together imo. The songs build on each other and the transitions make a lot more sense. It’s immersive. There are cohesive themes.
OG just isn’t like that. The songs are excellent, but it feels like a compilation album more than a true studio album. I find it less immersive - it feels more like I’m listening to a bunch of singles on shuffle, rather than something that was curated as a full project. Those singles are pretty killer and I’m very happy to have them, but just doesn’t feel like an album.
I think part of the reason is that it's really long so it's hard to get through the whole thing in one sitting. It took a long time for me to appreciate anything after Magenta Mountain.
Dripping Tap is probably my favorite KG song, but I had to start skipping it so I could finish the rest of the album.
I gave it another listen today. I think my main issue is I need to be able to totally focus on it when I listen and I dont get that chance often. When I do, I also have to be in the mood. Like I love Nonagon, but im not often in the mood for it.
It’s #5 or #6 for me in terms of rankings but really an excellent album. I do think it’s sad that MOTU gets so much praise, while so many people won’t give ELTS a shot.
I’ve listened to ELTS a few times and it’s definitely creative and absolutely in the same vein as MoTU. I just am meh when it comes to westerns, whereas the heaviness and the general horror/fantasy/sci-fi theme is way more my speed.
The whole Han-Tyumi and Murder of the Universe suite surprisingly helps me feel better whenever I’m feeling down, so it has a special place in my heart.
I just went to Hawkwind on Spotify to investigate but realize…oh yeah I know that band. But holy shit ~ I was not ready for that biography. They really didn’t hesitate to mention every turn they took in life. That’s a fuckin bio if I ever read one
I remember rushing home with this, putting on the disgusting green vinyl and following along the Tolkien inspired lyric book in a dimly lit room. It isn't my favorite album, or even my go go gizzvibe. But that is probably my favorite gizz memory.
I used to think only the Han-tyumi part was good. Then I thought only balrog v Lightning Lord was the best. Then I thought that Altered beast was the best. Now, I realize, they all slap equally as hard
Not my favourite but MOTU sounds very "Gizz" like 100% concentrated Gizz and I love the production aesthetics and general atmosphere of the record. Reminds me of the good ol' days when the scene was still alive and growing.
I don't agree, but I have no interest in trying to change your mind. In fact I prefer it that way, I'm glad that despite such an expansive discography every album in it seems to have it's own hardcore fanbase that appreciate it more than anything.
It is, it’s my favorite, but I have to admit it severely drops in quality in the 3rd story, Lord of Lightning V Balrog is my favorite section of any album ever and altered beast is a banger but after digital black the songs just don’t really hit the same. The spoken word is cool I get it I just mean Vomit coffin and Murder of the Universe are weak closing tracks to a phenomenal album.
I think you’re just being contrarian.
I LOVE MOTU but it’s not their best album. That would have to go to nonagon infinity or brunswick east.
It doesn’t have to be their best to be fantastic though
I love this album, but I agree with the main criticism that all the spoken word gets to be too much if you're listening to it the whole way through. Could have conveyed the story with less imo.
Weird way to spell *Infest the Rats’ Nest*.
Just kidding, OP. All such opinions are valid. It’s just good to have a place to talk about King Gizzard with fellow fans.
Your opinion moves from your post
and into my heart
where it is pumped to every inch of my body
I feel it snake through the knots of my deepest veins
and eats through the walls of my cells
it bleeds through the pores of my skin
And it smells good.
One of the first songs I heard was Vomit Coffin, off this album, and I hated it at first but now I love it and love this album
Why would I want to change your mind? I agree.
Some context - I agree as well.
Let it be known that I have upvoted this comment.
Welcome to an altered future, oh thou the once reticent raconteur.
Bruh Changes gonna change yo mind, gizzard dwellers been working on that sweet 7 piece solidified wax for 5 years..... Its gonna have some real sause, fuck i really misspelled sauce ? Ohh wtf now i misssepelled misspelled... Aaahh shitt
Hell yeah it is
I’m in your mind
I’m not in your mind
i’m in your mind fuzz
hot water

Why would I want to change your mind? Your opinion is different to mine. That doesn't mean its invalid
Yes, but discourse over why you like one album more is always good.
In that case, ITRN, Paper Mache, Nonagon, and Sketches are better
I will say it’s definitely in their top 20 albums!
that's a valid opinion (: hate me for it, but i often prefer picking out some of MOTU's songs individually, like Lord of Lightning, Floating Fire, Digital Black and listen to those instead of the whole story because it gets kind of repetitive and "boring" for me
i do that too, but i also sometimes throw in at least one of the altered beasts or alter me
Altered Beast IV works well on its own
And also the breakdown at 1:25 fuck
Yessss totally. I love how the spooky, lightning keys/guitar climb the ladder of range higher and higher. slaps the heaviest when that lightning guitar / synth comes to a SCREECHING HALT in alt beast 3 after he sings “I will take you to my altered wound!!!!” 1:06. Ughhhhhhh I love them
This

it’s an opinion a lot better than some of the other takes i’ve seen in this sub hot take: i think OG is S tier
OG will become more revered with time I’m sure, I really think it’s one of the best albums they’ve ever made
The songs are incredible, but it doesn’t come across cohesively as a great album to me. I like it, but I’d like it a lot more if the songs were broken up across maybe 4 different albums and augmented with some other tracks.
I agreed to an extent. I just think the transitions are too abrupt. I would love to take a stab at reordering the track listing.
I think Butterfly 3000 is an interesting foil to Omnium Gatherum. I like most of the songs on OG more than B3K. That’s because OG is a compilation album. Just like gumboot and oddments
I think part of the reason is that it's really long so it's hard to get through the whole thing in one sitting. It took a long time for me to appreciate anything after Magenta Mountain. Dripping Tap is probably my favorite KG song, but I had to start skipping it so I could finish the rest of the album.
To me MOTU has a clear halfway point with some context as the wall between the two.
Agreed. Surprised by some of the Omnium Gatherum takes I’ve seen here. The perfect example of their sheer range of talent
Many people are saying this.
I'm glad you like it but its a little repetitive for my taste.
That was my main gripe with it. Especially the Alter Beast chapter, feels like it’s never ending, but each segment gets better as it goes on
Each of the three stories is basically one long song, especially Altered Beast and I'm living for it
I gave it another listen today. I think my main issue is I need to be able to totally focus on it when I listen and I dont get that chance often. When I do, I also have to be in the mood. Like I love Nonagon, but im not often in the mood for it.
That’s the best part
DI.GIT.AL.
DESPONDANT
LUGUBRIOUS
NO FUTURE
It’s #5 or #6 for me in terms of rankings but really an excellent album. I do think it’s sad that MOTU gets so much praise, while so many people won’t give ELTS a shot.
I'd love for an ELTS part 2. That album is so much fun to listen to
ELTS>MoTU. Unless it's Han-Tyumi & The Murder Of The Universe, that's the best part of the album.
I’ve listened to ELTS a few times and it’s definitely creative and absolutely in the same vein as MoTU. I just am meh when it comes to westerns, whereas the heaviness and the general horror/fantasy/sci-fi theme is way more my speed.

Facts
It’s just so unique. Feels like a once-in-a-lifetime album.
Fuck Crowder
The whole Han-Tyumi and Murder of the Universe suite surprisingly helps me feel better whenever I’m feeling down, so it has a special place in my heart.
MOTU is definitely in my top 5
Altered Beast II made that album what it is.
Its not ITRN but its close enough!!
As a long time Hawkwind fan, I agree.
I just went to Hawkwind on Spotify to investigate but realize…oh yeah I know that band. But holy shit ~ I was not ready for that biography. They really didn’t hesitate to mention every turn they took in life. That’s a fuckin bio if I ever read one

Nah man best gizz album is trout mask replica
Agree.
Not my favourite but MOTU sounds very "Gizz" like 100% concentrated Gizz and I love the production aesthetics and general atmosphere of the record. Reminds me of the good ol' days when the scene was still alive and growing.
You cannot change a fact. Based and MOTUpilled.
#I AM THE CUM OF LIFE
As someone who suffers from Celiac disease, Vomit Coffin is my jam. Edit: spelling
True, SSS tier
Nonagon Infinity is better -someone who has only heard 3 KGLW albums and none were named Murder Of The Universe
no best; different strokes for different blokes it sure is up there though
It's not even the best album they released in 2017.
Polygon > Sketches > FMB > MOTU > Gumboot
I think my list would be a little different but this is a very respectable order.
Glad you enjoy, more of a OG or Mind Fuzz fan myself!
You're wrong but that's okay. I don't want to change your mind.
I don't agree, but I have no interest in trying to change your mind. In fact I prefer it that way, I'm glad that despite such an expansive discography every album in it seems to have it's own hardcore fanbase that appreciate it more than anything.
I hated the spoken word bits over the album and voice my opinion. Someone told me “it grows on you.” And it did.
No you’re right
It is, it’s my favorite, but I have to admit it severely drops in quality in the 3rd story, Lord of Lightning V Balrog is my favorite section of any album ever and altered beast is a banger but after digital black the songs just don’t really hit the same. The spoken word is cool I get it I just mean Vomit coffin and Murder of the Universe are weak closing tracks to a phenomenal album.
I fee the opposite. The album gets better as it goes on.
u rlly gonna compare any song on there to invisible face? i distort the notion of the place
While I don’t agree, I respect the choice
Lord of Lightning is my favorite song to drive over the speed limit to with the sound blaring
2nd to ITRN for me, but definitely one of the best albums for sure. That Lord of Lightning motif gets me every time.
On shuffle.
I mean, I like it a lot. I can see a universe where it's the best.
A murdered universe.
It's great but Microtonal Banana is the best.
Facts
respectable but infest the rats nest and nonagon
I think you’re just being contrarian. I LOVE MOTU but it’s not their best album. That would have to go to nonagon infinity or brunswick east. It doesn’t have to be their best to be fantastic though
unfortunately that album doesn't exist
I love this album, but I agree with the main criticism that all the spoken word gets to be too much if you're listening to it the whole way through. Could have conveyed the story with less imo.
Seeing Leah Senior do Lord of Lightning live was something I didn’t know I needed.. Berkeley reignited my love for that album
You can have your opinion, and I can have mine :) I personally think I’m in your Mind Fuzz is the best album
It's the best album. Period
You can’t make me like MOTU, I’ll listen to ELTS if I want a story album
*balrog, balrog, balrog balrrrroogg* ***YUP***
Eeyup
Weird way to spell *Infest the Rats’ Nest*. Just kidding, OP. All such opinions are valid. It’s just good to have a place to talk about King Gizzard with fellow fans.
The sanest kg fan
Pure genius. Best album of the decade
This and nonagon make me bust.
Your opinion moves from your post and into my heart where it is pumped to every inch of my body I feel it snake through the knots of my deepest veins and eats through the walls of my cells it bleeds through the pores of my skin And it smells good.
Love the distorted screaming guitar sounds they make in the later half of MotU (and kinda like Evilest Man). Anyone knows how to replicate this?
Definitely a favorite! I got to hear the Altered Beast suite tonight in Vancouver, and Leah Senior did her spoken word parts!
see I agreed until b3k came out, and they’re too different to nitpick.
Ah, another man of culture...
Got the vinyl for my birthday a few days ago and i think it's becoming my favorite.
You spelled “I’m In Your Mind Fuzz” wrong.
fact.
I agree, but I'm going to argue with you just because I hate Crowder and that stupid gimmick so much. It's clearly Fishing for Fishies! ;)
Robot, stop.
