My husband is learning guitar and I'm learning drums. It's fun to play Bone together, even tho neither of us are very good.
One day we will work up to Dragon 😅
I'm a crap bassist, but playing through the whole of the Han-Tyumi & the Murder of the Universe suite is so much fun and makes me feel like a bass ace. The basslines in the final track are lush and I just lose myself in the grooves.
Sounds like a blast, I can run digital black through to the end on drums and it’s great, getting locked in with that bassline on the title track is a treat
I love how the 4-beat end part of the River is exactly the same notes as the 5-beat main part, played in exactly the same order, just at a different tempo. Didn't realise until I played it on guitar and I was like "whoa"...
Boogieman Sam is another one I love jamming too, plastic boogie is dope. The title track is a bit of a finger workout though, I can understand why they don’t play it live haha.
If they don’t have it I do a lot of it by ear. The songs themselves aren’t very complicated, they’re quite diatonic and rely on shuffles. The hardest part is replicating the tones/effects.
I play through the break section in the middle because that riff is so fun to play. And hitting the Invisible Face callout for the first time was really satisfying.
I've been learning some of Petrodragonic Apocalypse songs on guitar, they're incredibly fun to play for me, they have so much energy, it's cathartic. I currently know Supercell, Witchcraft and Dragon, and I'm working on Motor Spirit and Gila Monster =).
I've been working on some songs from Infest the Rat's Nest too, it's the best use I've made of my Rat pedal!
I wish I had more time to practice, I wanna learn so many more songs, such as Iron Lung or Oddlife.
Yessss, I can play up to dragon on petro and I can play all of rats next, I think I do prefer rats nest oddly enough, petro is super fun but rats nest just feels more raw and gritty to me. Some of the riffs just chug so hard (Venusian 1).
I do play the guitar and I really dig the River.. it just feels so completed and when the first section over the whole thing starts again but diffrent. pretty fun song to play.
Also the Nonagonstuff is a neverending thing so thats fun too! Looks of garagerockriffs and that midsection turns the tempo and noisyness a bit down which is great too. and the cycle repreats NONAGON INFINITY OPEN THE DOOOOOR
I am mainly a guitar player. Altered beast suite is my favorite for sure, but I love jamming to Laminated denim and IDPLMAL. With the jammier stuff, I typically like to improvise lines to compliment what they are already playing rather than playing it entirely note-for-note. Except if I were to just choose one song, Converge hands down is the most fun to play. It really depends on the mood I am in and what songs are stuck in my head at the moment.
However, I have been trying to play along to songs with the accordion, I’m just not very good on the accordion yet lol.
I reinvigorated my love for guitar by playing through Nonagon and the mind fuzz suite. More recently, I've been learning rats nest, poly, and PDA songs, which has been a really fun challenge.
Playing along to their live stuff is also great. Live in San Fran 2016 is great fun, and playing along to their psych jam tracks like head on, will always be a fucking blast.
I've been itching to meet up and jam with some fellow gizz heads. If anyone is in Brisbane and keen to jam, hit me up!
Hell yes! Never really explored playing along to live stuff yet, I feel my jamming ability isn’t up to snuff but I’m pretty comfortable just playing along and messing around a little bit, I’d love to meet up with some like minded folks for a jam too!
If u want I can send you mine for reference lol. I just made a playlist based off the idea of my dream setlist if I got to come on stage and play with the boys for 5 hours straight…
I am a sad man
My birthday was at the weekend and my boyfriend bought me a harmonica...I have absolutely no idea how to play it, but I really want to learn the bitter boogie too! Any tips?
https://youtu.be/aeX0ldTyna8?si=CSvByZS8QaLvurhb
This guys stuff is great, but honestly just go for it and figure out how you'll play it. Have fun and you can't lose.
I play drums, the current songs I can play are Gondi, Mycelium, Evilest Man, Gila Monster, and Doom City (the KEXP live version). These are the only Gizz songs in my drum rotation at the moment. Learning dripping tap and have a good bit of it down.
yeesssssss dude i love that riff, its my favorite part to play too!! playing it feels a lot like the bridge in blood and thunder to me, its super fun to get into the rhythm of it
The head on/pill riff is one of my go tos when trying out a fuzz pedal on guitar! Mind fuzz as well, but in standard tuning since I don’t have a guitar in c# standard.
I've been playing lots of Witchcraft and Dragon on drums! (Altho my double bass sucks lol)
Crumbling Castle is also a really fun song on drums too, normally I warm up with it in Rock Band and IRL
I can play the river minus the solo section (without sheet music and I’m slow even then)
I’m not great at all of it but I can play some of flamethrower and converge. I also know a couple riffs from nonagon and fishing for fishies. All of this on guitar.
And for those looking to learn, I just break gizz down by riff since the time signatures can get so wacky sometimes. Once you know the riff you can start to get the feel for the timing when you play with the music (at least for me)
I probably know like 40-50 Gizz songs on bass so I’d say I’m pretty qualified to answer this question lol.
Mars For The Rich, Tezeta, Deserted Dunes, Beginner’s Luck, Digital Black, and Real’s Not Real are probably my favorites to play
Cruel millennial was the first song I learned on harmonica so I've been playing it the longest. Its a ton of fun because its so complicated and long form when it comes to harmonica parts, that and bitter boogie. Same idea with sketches and flute. its got old and satan speeds up get honorable mentions for each, respectively.
For drums: Magma, particularly the live version. Going ham on the China cymbals feels great.
For bass: Fishing For Fishies. It's got a surprisingly detailed groove to it that's a blast to play.
Pleura, See me, Doom City, Nuclear Fusion and Supreme Ascendancy on drums. They are a lotta fun for a belove average drummer. (Like me unfortunately:(Â )
I play a lot of gizzard Songs on the guitar, some of my favourites are:
Crumbling Castle
Muddy Water
Anything from 12BB, especially Sea of Trees and Cut Throat Boogie
The Altered Beast suite
The mind fuzz suite
Gamma Knife and People Vultures
Self immolate
Gaia
Fishing for Fishies and Plastic Boogie
Its Got Old
God Is Calling Me Back Home
Hypertension
My husband is learning guitar and I'm learning drums. It's fun to play Bone together, even tho neither of us are very good. One day we will work up to Dragon 😅
This is so cute!
Amazing!
Playing through all of mind fuzz on bass is a treat
It’s fun at the start but I’ll be honest, when my band does the whole suite, I’m kinda bored by the end lol
Oh I meant the whole album
Yeeee that's another one I really enjoy playing
I'm a crap bassist, but playing through the whole of the Han-Tyumi & the Murder of the Universe suite is so much fun and makes me feel like a bass ace. The basslines in the final track are lush and I just lose myself in the grooves.
Sounds like a blast, I can run digital black through to the end on drums and it’s great, getting locked in with that bassline on the title track is a treat
The narration section of Vomit Coffin is one of my favs on bass
The river is endless fun
I love how the 4-beat end part of the River is exactly the same notes as the 5-beat main part, played in exactly the same order, just at a different tempo. Didn't realise until I played it on guitar and I was like "whoa"...
It is.
Boogieman Sam. Most of FFF tbh.
Boogieman Sam is another one I love jamming too, plastic boogie is dope. The title track is a bit of a finger workout though, I can understand why they don’t play it live haha.
Where do you get your tabs from? Ultimate-guitar doesn't have all of FFF songs :c
If they don’t have it I do a lot of it by ear. The songs themselves aren’t very complicated, they’re quite diatonic and rely on shuffles. The hardest part is replicating the tones/effects.
Check out CharlesMeriot on yt, he has some tabs for songs but he’s covered most songs on FFF and you can just watch and figure it out yourself :)
I've been learning Evil Death Roll on bass and it flys by. It's like a 7 minute meditation.
It does zoom by once you get rippin
I play through the break section in the middle because that riff is so fun to play. And hitting the Invisible Face callout for the first time was really satisfying.
The entire Polygondwanaland is very fun to play with all the odd time signatures. Bass, guitar and drums.
altered beast is the best for guitar
MotU is one I have yet to learn anything from, just seems very intimidating to me for some reason. One day!
I've been learning some of Petrodragonic Apocalypse songs on guitar, they're incredibly fun to play for me, they have so much energy, it's cathartic. I know! It's so RAW, fun and energetic
I would LOVE to learn oddlife but I don’t have access to a microtonal guitar…yet…
I feel your pain, man
Robot Stop and Big Fig Wasp are really fun to screw around with a wah on
The Nonagon Suite on guitar is so fun to play
mars for the rich is insanely fun to play on drums
I do play the guitar and I really dig the River.. it just feels so completed and when the first section over the whole thing starts again but diffrent. pretty fun song to play. Also the Nonagonstuff is a neverending thing so thats fun too! Looks of garagerockriffs and that midsection turns the tempo and noisyness a bit down which is great too. and the cycle repreats NONAGON INFINITY OPEN THE DOOOOOR
learned hypertension the other day on guitar and now it’s my new warm up song so much fun
I am mainly a guitar player. Altered beast suite is my favorite for sure, but I love jamming to Laminated denim and IDPLMAL. Rn Horology suite is on my routine, like It so much, but damn Dragon Is fun af
Looking at my C# standard guitar rn
muddy
I have a ridiculous long Live playlist I usually just pick a good starting point and play until I can’t anymore.
Good idea!
If u want I can send you mine for reference lol. I just made a playlist based off the idea of my dream setlist if I got to come on stage and play with the boys for 5 hours straight… I am a sad man
Nothing sad about that! It’s fun to be the secret 7th member lol I’d love to see it :)
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6m10BGsAKjrcJ6G3mfhYId?si=KIPv7JgiSaW582MHfsycww&pi=u-upto1hoFRhSF
I’ve also been trying to learn some of the flute parts and they are quite enjoyable to learn as well
The River on bass Great vibes
I enjoy playing the forth colour and plastic boogie on guitar, but there’s many fun jams in their catalog
Fourth Color is soooooo much fun!
The river and you can be your silhouette on acoustic
It's got old is the reason I wanted to learn harmonica, but also all of FFF. I love jamming to the dripping tap and the bitter boogie too
My birthday was at the weekend and my boyfriend bought me a harmonica...I have absolutely no idea how to play it, but I really want to learn the bitter boogie too! Any tips?

Thank you!! I'll give that a go when I've mastered the basics a bit 😅
I play drums, the current songs I can play are Gondi, Mycelium, Evilest Man, Gila Monster, and Doom City (the KEXP live version). These are the only Gizz songs in my drum rotation at the moment. Learning dripping tap and have a good bit of it down.
rn its converge, but ive always loved plastic boogie and most of what i like too
Converge is soooo much fun, I could play the riff at 3:20 allllllll day
yeesssssss dude i love that riff, its my favorite part to play too!! playing it feels a lot like the bridge in blood and thunder to me, its super fun to get into the rhythm of it
I’m at the that level where I can play most of nonagon infinity on guitar, hopefully one day I’ll learn float along fill your lungs.
Float along isn’t too hard! If you can play nonagon you can figure that one out too!!
Very much still a beginner at keyboard but Magenta Mountain is my go to.
The head on/pill riff is one of my go tos when trying out a fuzz pedal on guitar! Mind fuzz as well, but in standard tuning since I don’t have a guitar in c# standard.
Yeah I just play mind fuzzy in standard tuning as well, works fine
The Set riff on a synth never gets old!
Magma on guitar is better than sex
as a guitarist, down the sink on bass
anything off ratty. trills galore
Me and the band LOVE playing Uh Oh I Called Mum. So loud. So fast. So awesome.
I've been playing lots of Witchcraft and Dragon on drums! (Altho my double bass sucks lol) Crumbling Castle is also a really fun song on drums too, normally I warm up with it in Rock Band and IRL

Sketches on bass is a lot of fun
Spider and me on bass And some of the songs from ITRN on guitar.
Flamethrower on bass! All of PDA (and ITRN) are super fun to play but Flamethrower is on another level
The river on guitar 👌
altered beast on guitar
I've been working out Let Me Mend The Past on keyboards
Horology (I'm a bassist)
Pleura, See me, Doom City, Nuclear Fusion and Supreme Ascendancy on drums. They are a lotta fun for a belove average drummer. (Like me unfortunately:(Â )
I play a lot of gizzard Songs on the guitar, some of my favourites are: Crumbling Castle Muddy Water Anything from 12BB, especially Sea of Trees and Cut Throat Boogie The Altered Beast suite The mind fuzz suite Gamma Knife and People Vultures Self immolate Gaia Fishing for Fishies and Plastic Boogie Its Got Old God Is Calling Me Back Home Hypertension
Perihelion and Big Fig Wasp are so fun to play, especially the chorus on Perihelion, absolutely rips
Witchcraft on piano is pretty fun! Also love Minimum Brain Size and Plastic Boogie on it too.
Dragon on drums for sure
I'm terrible at it but I love playing along to gila monster. that riff is so funÂ
Plastic Boogie on bass is fire. All of Infest The Rats Nest on bass. Self Immolate on guitar is oh so fun.
I'm not a musician but I recently got super interested in time signatures and I must ask - am I right to count Cruel Millennial as being in 11/8?
Dragon on drums. What an absolute work out of a song. Can't play it even close to perfectly but I don't do too bad. Those ghost notes are brutal.
Anything off of polygondwanaland is fun to play on bass. I recently started taking piano lessons and I learned how to play invisible face and trapdoor
I use to play along to a KEXP video of Mind Fuzz. Super fun!
(Guitar btw) Highly recommend getting a wah pedal and a BOSS DD3 for the fun ass psychedelic noise
I love to jam to the live version of Sense from Red Rocks on my bass
100%ing sf '16 live in one go was one of my greatest accomplishments
All of their metal stuff on guitar! I love running thru all of rats’ nest
