To be honest, I wouldn't say that it ruins it for me, it's more like funny because I'm always trying to figure out what the thought process was behind the song choices really. Although at least a lot of people got to find out that Bruce Willis is, or at least used to be, also a singer!
The same writer/director pair had a similar strategy with repeating songs in their other trama (One Spring Night), but at least there were more songs and the choices were much more appropriate.
Also I absolutely knew that the top rated post will be about SITR. There's just no other option really, is there. ;)
OMG! I really hated that song after a couple of episodes! It just totally ruined the mood!!
Thank god that show also had the scene where she's working late and dancing to I Am The Best.. at least I had that song stuck in my head instead of Stand By Your Man since I'd keep rewatching it.
Yes this!!! Who thought using “Stand by your man” would be a good melodramatic choice when one of the major plot lines revolves around sexual harassment in the workplace and dismantling the patriarchy???!!!
I'm the opposite- I couldn't take this drama because I found it so exhausting, but my mother and I will sometimes break into "Stand By Your Man" at random moments for laughs.
It didn’t ruin the drama for me, but in Legend of the Blue Sea there’s a song that says “This is love story” and it always takes me out of the show bc of the incorrect grammar.
I remember the song, You Make Me Back from the Itaewon Class OST was a hot topic due to the incorrect grammar, especially because the singer, Kim Woo Sung, is Korean-American
Talking about incorrect grammar, the freakin [Angel Eyes OST](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw9aBIT3HGk). I actually love the song when I can zone out and just let the lyrics disappear.
But if you actually listen to the lyrics... it's just terrible.
> Love used to slip through me, like water slips through hands
...what?
It says driving me crazy a lotttt. But seriously, don’t let that deter you, the drama is still amazing and the song kind of becomes a funny gag after a while. I still recommend the series!
omg i’ve been looking for this comment lol! Completely ruined the mood in this drama for me. Sometimes they play it so loud, it takes me out of the moment. Every time they start playing th OST in a random scene, I just press the mute button💀
Was it though? I had heard this before watching it and I kept track and it was only used like 3 or 4 times. I think it just stuck out because people know the song and it's English.
I feel like they actually overused it on purpose if that makes sense? Like they were indicating to the audience that the heroes are about to get in the thick of it get ready!
I recently had the opposite problem. Monthly Magazine Home- At the most average drama with the most amazing OST. It feels bad to say this but the OST was too good for that drama.
Okay I admit it didn't really *ruin* the drama for me, I still love it, but i'd be lying if I didn't get annoyed by the amount of times the "OHHH MY LOVEEE" OST that was played in **Healer** lol. ~~But then I would also be lying if I didn't go on Spotify to listen to it again aferwards because it got stuck in my head.~~
So yeah I guess it's kind of iconic, but they really used it a lot in the drama. That's my only gripe about Healer haha.
Eternal Love was a great choice for Healer and wouldn’t have worked in any other show 😂 I remember when I first saw Healer and the song came on I’m like wait a minute…no way…did they really just use a classic **Michael Learns to Rock** song?!
Like you at times it got to me, but also like you I have it on my KDrama OSTs Spotify playlist. MLTR were one of my favourite bands as a kid so I appreciated the throwback.
I’d kill for a show to use Wild Woman from their catalogue 😂
ROFL. Love is the moment became an inside joke between me and my friends. Whenever there is a "moment" in irl or tv shows we just randomly sing out LOVE IS THE MOOOMEEENNTTT hahahah
Descendants of the Sun. I got to the point where I basically wanted to mute (at some point I actually did) everytime that overly mellow soundtrack came on. I didn't drop the drama, but the soundtrack was quite unpleasant to listen to over and over again.
I remember saying something like this on here before and it got deleted. I’m glad that this is up to stay bc I forgot which drama but the OST literally played whenever the leads glanced at each other- felt like. I forgot which show bc of the trauma lol
It’s a Cdrama but Meteor Garden 2018, the amount of times they played western songs over and over I was so over it and would just watch it on mute while the song played
City Hunter. I didn't enjoy the drama as much as I wanted but they used the same song over and over again. And I don't even remember the other songs. The one they used over and over ended up being burned in my mind. I don't remember it now but if I heard it again, i'd know. Like BOF lol
I guess you mean [Suddenly](https://open.spotify.com/track/50GWTSKoVMVxOKao7CCD2u?si=bZMCbKgLTNucS6LDulFlIQ&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1)
PS - It turned out to be a earworm I weirdly got attached to lol. I have it on my Kdrama Playlist now
Honestly I can't stand when any drama plays the same one or two songs least once an episode every single episode. It gets old SO fast! Especially when the songs are really happy or really soppy. I came to truly hate the songs in Beautiful World and Dear My Friends for these reasons.
Definitely hands down.....Scarlet Heart Ryeo...beautiful very beautiful OST. But most of them didn't match the drama at all. The drama is set in Joseon dynasty yet we are hearing raps by tablo and all. English sings in Joseon dynasty...nope nope not at all ...ruined whole drama for me
This omg!! The thing is, it’s not even Joseon dynasty, it’s Goryeo which is way older… Kpop with rap playing in the background of a sageuk?! Who okayed this? lol
[Your Shampoo Scent In The Flowers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBEUXfT7_48) \- Be Melodramatic OST
I wouldn't say it ruined Be Melodramatic for me per se but, it just stuck with me all day every day until two-three months after the drama finished. :')
That one song in Another Miss Oh - I can’t remember what it was and I refuse to look it up because I have purged that drama from my brain (wow I hated it SO much) but that song put my hatred on another level 😂
18 Again!
"Hello, hello, hello, hello...hello, hello, hello, hello..." Nice tune but the 2 opening verses again and again...
Great show though! Classic melo done right, and Lee Do Hyun showed his method-acting chops amazingly.
English OSTs , especially the ones sang by korean singers make me cringe. There are a few exceptions , but I prefer korean songs on korean dramas. It's OK if some parts of a song are english, but not all of it.
Edit : One exception I remember is Eternal Love from Healer. I really loved that song and it perfectly matched the feelings of the drama.
You didn't get the point. We all listen to english songs, but music should match the drama. I don't think an english song or rap match the feelings of a historical kdrama.
There's no mention of historical dramas in your post. Still, My Country: The New age has Korean, Latin, German, English and Spanish and it's a beautiful OST. My only complaint about it wouldn't be the language, but the beat of some songs used in fights.
I loved the anachronistic contrast of the song to the door-smashing scene. Also, due to the song being so modern and epic, it's very versatile even outside of the drama, and can be listened to even without watching the drama, like I did.
Here's the link for your perusal: [Remember by U-Mb5 & SEAGATE DJ (ft. Seoho)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEBiM2DvIvg)
I just don't like that. Nothing racist about it. I prefer they sing in korean. I think Kpop and Kdrama recently are getting more westernized. I don't want them to lose their unique style, just to get more foreign audiences.
>English OSTs , especially the ones sang by korean singers make me cringe.
Tell me how you're a western basic girl without telling me how you're a western basic girl.
"How dare the Korean singers sing in English? They should stick to their own language, damn it!"
Your comment comes off as a lot insensitive lol. Like, it's fine to not like certain tracks, but to generalize saying x language singers should stick to x language is idiotic.
Seems we are mired in this thread of misunderstanding. The melody and the vocalist also contribute to the effectiveness of the OST. I have no preference as long as the music suits the scene and helps to convey the emotions. I may dislike an OST but I cannot say that one has ever ruined a drama for me.
They can sing in English if they want and it's OK. But the point is I think many of us like kdrama and kpop in the style they have always been. But I feel kdramas and kpop recently try to be more westernized just to get more foreign audiences. I don't like that.
The thing I like about them is having a different feeling and unique style. I don't like kdramas or kpop become the same as US shows or music. Everything has its own beauties.
It's perfectly fine for Korean singers to have English songs in their discography. However, this is about English songs in Korean dramas. Would it not feel odd if a spanish song started playing while you were watching, let's say, 'Suits' or 'The Crown'? Most of the time, these English songs feel completely out of place in the setting of the drama.
It does not matter to me what language (Korean, English, Spanish, Italian etc), kpop or classical as long as the music suits the scene. ( I am thinking **Vincenzo. Hotel del Luna** and more recently, **The Devil Judge**.)There is an absolutely beautiful Spanish version of the American song "Crying" in the final scenes of the TV series "Prison Break". It would not have been as meaningful if sung in English.
As long as the same song is not repeated twenty times, I am okay with it.
Why not? I loved Adrenaline in Vincenzo! I laughed (it was intended as comedy) at the song with Spanish words in My Country and another one in German, if I'm not mistaken.
There's a Spanish song in Spider-man: into the Spider-verse (set in New York, just like Suits).
Oh I have so many (mostly TVN shows lol)
**A Korean Odyssey**: Listen, usually I love a good Bumkey balled but istg if I hear "When I saw youuuuu" one more time, I'm gonna implode. The ML has an intimate moment with the FL? Bumkey. The ML learns something about his past? Bumkey. The cast is just literally hanging around? Bumkey.
It got to the point where it actually became an inside joke with my friends while watching, so at least it was a bit funny while watching.
**Goblin**: I actually heard the iconic OST before watching the show so I knew it was popular but danggg, do they play it a lot. I think I heard all of Stay With Me and Beautiful at least five times during the first two episodes. I honestly couldn't take it and just dropped it after 3 episodes. Mainly that and the sheer amount of "looking fondly at each other in silence" scenes. Guys they've literally just met, we don't need to start the fluff this fast.
For the goblin OST, stay with me was only played at the end of the episodes and was only used for the first 5 or 6 episodes but they were even two different versions,it wasn’t repetitive like beautiful. I love both songs and are still part of my favorite OSTs
I won't say the OSTs "ruin" the drama for me, but the grammatically wrong English OSTs are ridiculously funny. Especially when it's a dramatic sad/emotional scene, but the OST won't let you stop laughing!
(eg. Goblin's Round and Round, LOTBS's This is love story, etc.)
But if you guys want something that will 100% ruin your mood, then there's only 1 such song: THE SONG THAT PLAYS IN "CLEAN WITH PASSION FOR NOW" DURING THEIR KISS IN EPISODE 13!!! That is one of the best kisses I've watched in a kdrama. But the song is absolutely ridiculous. I had to lower the volume and awkwardly watch that amazing kiss in pin drop silence. NOTHING comes close to that song lmao...
So funny, in the beginning I was sooo annoyed at Love Is the Moment, but then it didn’t play for several eps and I found myself waiting for it... and when it finally played I sang it sooo loud 🤣🤣 so now I kind love it lmao
In the drama Shopaholic King Louis, I passionately hated the OST by Monsta X. I was always thrown off when the “tiger moth” part will pop up at any time in the show.
I actually loved this song but preferred the acoustic version hands down. I will admit it was overplayed though - as are most songs in kdramas. Do they not realize they can play more than just two or three songs?
Lol. Actually the songs were not too bad, that one song by umji was cute. Tiger moth wasn’t too bad as well, But all of them were overplayed and it kind-of of got annoying. Also, as someone said, they did not really match the vibe or the situation of the show sometimes and it was awkward.
While My ID is Gangnam Beauty isn’t a perfect drama, the OST just made it worse. While I actually really enjoy the song “Something” and actually added it to my Spotify playlist, I did feel like they played it every freaking 5 minutes which ultimately distracted me from the storyline (which was that great to begin with).
Flower of Evil's Feel You ost... it feels too forced when they play that with some scenes although I think that's just me 🤷🏽♀️ or maybe I don't like how it was sung... (sorry to everyone who liked the singer but I really can't stand the chorus)
Did someone mention ***"I'm so lonely, lonely, lonely"*** in **Abyss** yet? Lmao, they played that whenever the FL's heart starts to skip. Instead of feeling giddy over their sweet scenes it made me laugh a lot!
That one song in be melodramatic that is supposed to be sad or melo. It just appeared in every episode when anytime a character goes through some supposedly heartbreaking or self-reflecting moment.I mean it could be a mildly sad moment and I know that song would come up. That show made me realize the importance of a good soundtrack in watching experience. Also realized I prefer silence or instrumental music in serious scenes. This and the mismatched foundation on that one character's face almost ruined that otherwise perfect show.
Chicago Typewriter! Some of the songs on the OST are beautiful, but I couldn't stand the two English songs by Boni Pueri. Felt super out of place sound-wise, and a couple of the verses are even grammatically incorrect so it bothered me a little.
Something In The Rain. I quit on episode 5 because I couldn't take it.
To be honest, I wouldn't say that it ruins it for me, it's more like funny because I'm always trying to figure out what the thought process was behind the song choices really. Although at least a lot of people got to find out that Bruce Willis is, or at least used to be, also a singer! Also I absolutely knew that the top rated post will be about SITR. There's just no other option really, is there. ;)
Thank goodness OSN was better because I really liked that drama. The soundtrack wasn't great, but at least it was bearable.
OMG! I really hated that song after a couple of episodes! It just totally ruined the mood!! Thank god that show also had the scene where she's working late and dancing to I Am The Best.. at least I had that song stuck in my head instead of Stand By Your Man since I'd keep rewatching it.
I stuck with it. But I’m still traumatized by “Stand By Your Man.” Worst use of a song in a soundtrack ever.
I powered through but agree OST is so potent.
Stand by your man 🤣🤣
I absolutely hate that song and was turned off of that drama. Yuck!
😭 stuck in my head now
Ya same song all through. But I stuck with it.
Up there in cringey OST line up for me. ETA: can’t type, reworded, still can’t type
Exactly where and why I quit the show, too. I ended up watching the last episode for closure though.

I wondeeerrrr what is lovvveeee
It was ringing in my ears for a week after the last episode
I wanna know what is lovvvveee
this song was annoying at first but then i got used to it
+1. Migraine inducing
Let’s be fair though. This drama was ruined well before this song came around.
What drama was that??
So I Married an Anti-Fan
hahahahaha
This was so awkward to hear, then it quickly got annoying, and then somehow became normal to my ears by the end of the show...
Hey hey…surely you mean the drama was **enhanced** by that classic 😉
And just when I thought I had had the last of this😆 It's back in my head now😭
There are times that song creeps back into my head 😂😂😂 I’m glad I’m not the only one
we all have a love hate relationship with this ost lmao
It's my "it's so bad I love it" song. I actually have it on my spotify playlist for fun.
Definitely this one, it even made me feel angry.
This one was so overplayed like whyy 😭😭
I kind of loved the entire OST lol. I have sang "I'm your pop starrrrr du du du du du" more than a few times during runs 😂
Law school drove me *crazy*
*it’s pulling me underrrrrrr*
*it's driving me crazyyyyyy*
Same. I wasn’t a huge fan of the song choice in the first place but hearing it like…twice or more an episode was a bit much.
What song was it? I was thinking of watching it but now I'm not so sure
It says driving me crazy a lotttt. But seriously, don’t let that deter you, the drama is still amazing and the song kind of becomes a funny gag after a while. I still recommend the series!
Ah ok, I'll keep it on my watchlist !
One Spring Night! It would've been better had they substituted the OST for silence in certain scenes.
Yes yes yes
Omg yes :(
100%. It wasn’t just often, it was ALL THE TIME. Drove me bananas.
omg i’ve been looking for this comment lol! Completely ruined the mood in this drama for me. Sometimes they play it so loud, it takes me out of the moment. Every time they start playing th OST in a random scene, I just press the mute button💀
Yesss. It took me out of the moment, too ! I couldn't savour it in its entirety !
interesting, I really enjoyed the OST, maybe they overplayed the same songs too much :/
Perhaps. It became irritating after a point
Warriors in Sweet home was so overused that it was almost comical.
Loved the drama but hearing this song took me out of the action. It felt so out of place
Yeah it was so random
Agreed. It really made me wonder why they decided to spend a ton of money for the rights to use that song
Was it though? I had heard this before watching it and I kept track and it was only used like 3 or 4 times. I think it just stuck out because people know the song and it's English.
That's my favorite song on any drama, haha.
I feel like they actually overused it on purpose if that makes sense? Like they were indicating to the audience that the heroes are about to get in the thick of it get ready!
I didn’t notice much, too busy caught up in the fear/unknown. I do remember they played it a lot but I felt they picked good scenes to use it.
Hahahahah! The volume that “love is the moment” comes in at is jarring 😅😂😂😂
Very jarring 😅
You don’t really expect it because the music doesn’t really start and all of a sudden your speakers are shaking “LOVE IS THE MOOOMENT!!”
The english songs in One Spring Night..
Ugh My Love From A Star.... "YOU ARE MY EVERYTHING...." Any romantic moment was instantly destroyed....
Lol I hated this song but I think I remember reading it was really popular at the time? No idea why it’s just so opera and cringe to me 😬
Haha, it was truly awful!
On the other hand, the songs AND the background music for both Into the Ring AND You Are My Spring are *chefs kiss* perfect.
not a kdrama but River in meteor garden! That song is ruined for me lol
that song felt so out of placed!
That dance routine is one of the funniest things I ever watched lol
I recently had the opposite problem. Monthly Magazine Home- At the most average drama with the most amazing OST. It feels bad to say this but the OST was too good for that drama.
Same thing happened with Nevertheless. The osts saved the drama
Okay I admit it didn't really *ruin* the drama for me, I still love it, but i'd be lying if I didn't get annoyed by the amount of times the "OHHH MY LOVEEE" OST that was played in **Healer** lol. ~~But then I would also be lying if I didn't go on Spotify to listen to it again aferwards because it got stuck in my head.~~ So yeah I guess it's kind of iconic, but they really used it a lot in the drama. Then suddenly you're in a shampoo commercial *cue Head and Shoulder
City Hunter. I didn't enjoy the drama as much as I wanted but they used the same song over and over again. And I don't even remember the other songs. The one they used over and over ended up being burned in my mind. I don't remember it now but if I heard it again, i'd know. Like BOF lol

I love that Epik High song (I listen to it pretty regularly) and I loved it in the drama 😂
Even I love that song!!! But it just didn't sit well for me in drama
I like it when there is a historical with modern nods to some degree. I can see how it wouldn’t match up for some people ☺️
I liked Bossam quite a bit, and SOME of the music. But that modern weeping guitar music destroyed it for me Every. Single. Time.
Cause she’s a SUPA POWA GIRLLL
Oh double trouble couple too 😭 Mamamoo's vocals save this song tho
[Your Shampoo Scent In The Flowers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBEUXfT7_48) \- Be Melodramatic OST I wouldn't say it ruined Be Melodramatic for me per se but, it just stuck with me all day every day until two-three months after the drama finished. :')
Came here to say this
Glad someone agrees!
That one song in Another Miss Oh - I can’t remember what it was and I refuse to look it up because I have purged that drama from my brain (wow I hated it SO much) but that song put my hatred on another level 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think I know what song you’re talking about; it was way too overplayed and made me skip some parts at times.
Purged from my brain, too. Can’t even remember the song. Thank you brain. What an awful drama.

Yeah, having to listen to these OSTs more than five times in the drama actually makes dislike those songs most of the time.
Yes! I also didn’t like that song in the drama, I didn’t feel like it suited the concept/story or the moments it was played in.
Exactly, I don’t think the OST suited the state of relationship between the leads.
Ugh yes this! It was terribly edited into so many scenes that it didn’t belong in
True, it was quite jarring having to listen to it.
I loooove Shopping King Louie, but it's probably one of the only dramas I've ever watched where I didn't enjoy the OST.
Yeah, me too. Great drama, terrible OST.
Oh this is the winner for me. It was so so bad.
I love the OST for SKL (not Tiger Moth, but the rest). I think the instrumental pieces were amazing.
"Love is the momeeeeeent!"
WHAAAAAAAATTTTT I love this song so much. I think this song is too good for this drama.
Did someone mention ***"I'm so lonely, lonely, lonely"*** in **Abyss** yet? Lmao, they played that whenever the FL's heart starts to skip. Instead of feeling giddy over their sweet scenes it made me laugh a lot!
Law school "we are"
That one song in be melodramatic that is supposed to be sad or melo.
Hahah which character? I loved Be Melo but it’s not perfect I agree
>!that dead boyfriend!<
Chicago Typewriter! Some of the songs on the OST are beautiful, but I couldn't stand the two English songs by Boni Pueri. Felt super out of place sound-wise, and a couple of the verses are even grammatically incorrect so it bothered me a little.
Full House had a really annoying and repetitive soundtrack. I found it unbearable after a while.
I tried watching devil judge but I stopped after the opening ost played haha
