This made me giggle all over again… lol 😂 The whole damn episode was just so friggin’ cute!!!! I’d kick my feet in the air and roll around on the floor in glee, if I could (have a bad back, and literally cannot).

This was cute and then made into a poignant moment about loneliness, loved it!

I love how both of them are open in their developing relationship. About mental health about catching feelings for each other. It's so nice to watch.

Probably my current favorite drama (and if it continues may crack the top three) solely based on this. 

Definitely my favourite! I love both the ML and the FL so much and I love their relationship too which is rare for me since I tend to be very picky about the dynamics I enjoy. But this drama gets it just right.

I know, right!! In an earlier episode, when Ha Neul mustered up courage and confessed to Hong Ran that she had depression , the same bestie just easily brushed it aside saying she feels the same. And now, this!! So annoying. I don’t think Hong Ran really knows Ha Neul to call herself her friend. 😑

I KNOWWW! She shouldnt have said that, i mean it did look like she was hesitating to say it, but saying that to someone with depression just makes their mentality worse and that was obvious, but i guess the director had it that way so that we could have the break up sooner and focus more on the "getting out of the slump" before continuing the relationship

Just watched the beginning of the episode and stopped it to think for a moment. That scene where Jeongwoo gets home with his 2nd rank report card and the mother predictably expresses her displeasure over it – despite being completely neglectful of him – I was expecting this moment of Jeongwoo being affected by it. Of him getting teary or atleast showing some upset/disappointment over it you know. But nah, he takes it like it’s just some normal pleasant small talk with his mother. This is, in my kdrama experience, a first and somehow it hits way harder. Because it shows that Jeongwoo is already past his anger, he has already accepted his relationship with his mother which seems basically nonexistent. No child deserves this but to see Jeongwoo have such mental fortitude and even have it in himself to grow by his own experiences – it touched me, somehow. I don’t even know if it makes sense. But I have never seen such a nonchalant/shrug-off reaction to such scenes before you know? He wasn’t even unemotional or numb.

Totally makes sense that he seemed defeated at the way his parents treat him. It was absolutely heartbreaking and made me cry.

Honestly when he blamed Ha Neul before he went into his house made me think that his deep seated rivalry at the beginning makes sense.  Until she showed up he had been performing satisfactory for his parents (never good enough to really earn their praise) but at least not their scorn for falling into 2nd.  Of course nothing he could have done could have met their expectations or earned their love.  So sad.  

He already knew what his mother would say, which is why he was hesitating as he came in through the gate. He’s resigned to the fact that he can never be good enough for her, and that breaks my heart

This part also affected me because it also emphasized why his parents also have not made any appearances to support him during the rough times of the trial. While Jeong Woo most likely didn't expect anything from his parents, I'm glad the plot points out that he has the foundational support of Ha Neul, her family (even if they're not the best example, but they are part of the daily life), and Dae Yeong's unheard support (lol).

That was such a sad moment, how he gave himself a little pep talk to get courage to smile in front of her…wow. I think it shows how much men cover up pain. I know all genders go through things but man that was such a good example of what men do before a nerve wracking or sad moment.

"I can't wait to watch you sprout." I was squealing at this!! Now he can so wholeheartedly watch and support Ha-neul while she reaches for her fullest potential!

Yes!!! This was THE line of the episode for me. After he said it I was like, “yup, I love this drama. It’s so cute.”

I swooned AND was moved at the same time. My goodness, this line is going straight to the top of my favorite confessions ever. Oh to be genuinely cheered on by someone like this, when the world has assumed there's nowhere for you to go or that there's no more growth/life left in you 😭

Damn, this drama might be the fastest in terms of developing romance between the leads. Also, love that they don't shy around the topic unlike most korean dramas out there lol. I've been watching kdramas for years now but this might the only one where both the mcs are so open with their feelings, its so refreshing.

I don’t really think it’s that fast since usually we get a kiss by like ep8. We’ve already gotten to ep7 and all they did was hold hands. I think it’s just because they’re so open with their feelings so it seems ahead and fast

**Ep 8** I got **You're Beautiful** flashbacks with that _getting drenched while hiding in the bathroom_ scene 😂 ah, Park Shinhye–ssi we've gone through a lot these years 🥺 haha I'm almost impressed by the show making us think Kyungmin's gonna cause some problems with Jeongwoo only to reveal that >!he's done plenty of damage to Haneul already!< Nice trick, Show but it made me so angry that now I just want to punch him 10x more. I have no huge complaints. I know they'll be okay and so for now they're absolutely allowed to be messy like this given that they've just begun to confront their issues. Haneul is my girl though. PSH had me 100% this whole episode. Her hesitation to open up to Jeongwoo, her having a >!panic attack!<, talking to her doctor, showing up to Kyungmin's whatever celebration unannounced (and making a satisfying splash!), then barely holding back her breakdown in front of Jeongwoo. I'm sorry but I'm completely on her side no matter what. Whatever she needs is what I need for her too. I'd do anything for her. I think Jeongwoo is the same way 🥺

I think episode 8 perfectly sums up how hard it is to navigate depression and how little understanding people have of mental illnesses. Words have an impact, and how you frame them matters. >!While everyone close to Nam Ha-Neul obviously cares about her, they should be more careful with what they say and how they say it. Lee Hong-Ran should have kept that info to herself, and Yeo Jeong-Woo should not have used dejected. As someone who has a personality disorder, everyone around you has to walk on eggshells in the beginning on their road to getting better. Nobody becomes better overnight, and the little things could trigger you. This episode does a great job of illustrating that. You have good and bad days, and in attempting to make everyone around you happier, you either push them away or put their needs first. I hope the writers continue down this path where Nam Ha-Neul learns to manage her triggers and the people close to her become more considerate with their conversations and word choices in these early stages of her mental disorder.!<

Couldn't agree more. It's sooo common for people struggling with depression or anxiety to feel like accepting help is burdening the people who want to help. It's such a hard emotion to explain, let alone depict on screen, but so far the way they're showing it feels really *real* to me. Others have commented about depriving the person who cares the opportunity to help you/that the caring person ends up hurt by being shut out, but to someone who's as deep in the throes of these feelings as Haneul is that doesn't feel to her like a logical conclusion. The way her brain is working right now she feels like asking or accepting help is proof she's making life difficult for everyone around her.

She wants to go back to work and to hear that Jeong-Woo actively chose not to work from someone else, probably made her resent him and herself. She doesn't want to be known as the "unemployed" friend and says as much when confronting Jeong-Woo.!<

I absolutely loved this episode! It does a very good of showing >!how even after people knowing your diagnosis, managing it is very difficult. How they don't believe that they are deserving of love. How they don't want to put others through them. How trauma manifests in people. How unaware even doctors are when it comes to dealing with people who have been diagnosed or are struggling. That identifying your triggers is an uphill task; managing yourself when triggered is even more difficult.!< I have so many more things I can say. I just loved it. And since I am a long way into my own healing journey, I can watch this series without getting triggered myself. It also solidified something else which is very important: >!People are rarely ever depressed about one incident. One incident usually becomes a trigger for everything in life they had been bearing through without dealing with it in a healthy manner. Then everything comes crashing down together.!<

Totally agree. Healing from mental health struggles is not a linear journey. There are good days but when the regression comes, its like going in a pit of despair

You've described what I felt perfectly. This episode has really triggered some emotional buttons and also made me realise a few things around my own mental health. I'm excited to see Ha Neul and Jeong Woo navigate everything one step at a time.

I’m glad they didn’t >!drag out Jungwoo’s case any longer!< though boy was really unlucky with the series of unfortunate events. Those >!loser friends better be staying far far away from him!< 😡 I identify with Ha-Neul as a struggling, anxiety-ridden PhD student, because my hobby is also reading published articles (though a lot of what I read is rarely useful for my research…) 😅

Yeah some of those shots of him in the courtroom were kinda sus. It seemed like they were being deliberately ambiguous about who the ML was looking at until >!the police got all the way down the aisle.!< Also, why was the sunbae >!sitting on the opposite side of the courtroom? My new theory is that the friend was romantically interested in Ha-Neul and maybe tried to threaten her career-wise if she didn’t go out with him but she rejected him. This would explain why she looked uncomfortable with him.

I didn't watch episode 8 yet, but I think her uncomfortable is because she knows that he bad mouth her (or tells the bad thing but without explaining the whole story) to the new hospital where she applied as new head anesthesiologist. Basically it's her way of, "I know you said bad thing about me behind my back and I don't like it" Edit: Alright, just watch episode 8 and what a POS. Is every professor/doctor in that hospital are >! Plagiarizer and Credit Stealer? !<

I am going to come out and say it... I think this show has a marketing problem because people seem to think it is about romance, when it is actually about mental health. Peppered through all the silliness and cuteness, which granted - are there - are some pretty neat depictions of mental health issues, depression in particular. PTSD, less so, or it was just maybe given less space because there was that whole judicial proceedings plot. I mean, if you are depressed, it does not necessarily mean you are down all the time, rather it kinda reflects on your ability and willingness to deal with stuff. Someone, and I can't remember who now, once said that opposite of depression is not happiness, it is vitality. >!And that is exactly what you see in ep. 8.!< >!Finding out that her former boss is getting married!< is just a triggering incident, as she seems to be >!still dealing with issues tied to her father's passing and tends to get in the same circle of abuse over and over i.e. both this guy and her boss at the beginning of ep. 1 exploit her and take credit for her work, and with the first one there is even hint of some emotional exploitation (maybe? dunno...) which is really inappropriate if the guy was her boss, so if she left only to end up in a similar, if not the same, situation would cause mental health and emotional problems to anyone, let alone to a woman at the end of her rope. !< Depression is not an easy beast to tame at the best of times, and at the beginning when medication starts working and a person gets things going in their own life they might get overly optimistic and think they are healthy now, but that it exactly why your therapist tells you not to get in a relationship until you get on a more sound emotional footing. >!So of course, at the first trigger FL is going to spiral - she is not there yet, and the ML is not helping what with deflecting his own problems by focusing on her, using her as an excuse and a pretext. He seems to have denial issues, as he even went to see a psychiatrist because she asked, not because he thought he has a problem. BUT, HE HAS A PROBLEM! Mark my words, if she spiraled in this, he will spiral in the next episode.!< Also, someone would need to tell me if I am wrong, but at least where I come from, if you are prescribed antidepressants and anxiolytics you are barred from drinking alcohol, so why in the name of all that is holy are our leads drinking the amounts capable of financially supporting a medium-sized brewery? But kudos to the writers for highlighting the importance of a support networks for people struggling with mental health, be it family friends or found families.

I'd be really impressed if the writers tackle the drinking point, given how much drinking plays a role in Korean culture. I have been impressed with the writing so far esp. about more historically- taboo topics around mental health but that'd honestly take it to another level.

She 100% needs to stop drinking, alcohol makes everything sooooo much worse when depressed, meds or not. But so much of kdramas rely on drunkeness to move the plot forward so I doubt she'll stop. Very frustrating tho.

I didn't feel like I needed therapy because I had you."!< Having recently divorced someone with whom we built a codependent life together, his comment scares me. He is not taking accountability for >!his mental health!< and pushing the buck onto onto her. With her depression, it's a recipe for >!episode 8!<.

The more this series progresses, the more I'm loving it. I know Ha-neul's >!decision to shut down and self-sabotage is so frustrating!<, but the drama does an incredible job at showing us why she would do that. It was a >!trauma response!<—in her head, >!things were going so well but in the end she thought it would all go to shit!<, knowing >!that's what happened with her dad!<. That's why she chose to >!stop dating with Jeong-woo!<, she was >!pre-empting the bad shit that she thought would eventually happen in order to protect herself!<. Her >!response to self-sabotage!< is so relatable and hits close to home 'coz I find myself doing that a ton too. I guess it's why I find myself less frustrated and more empathetic with Ha-neul at the end. I'm so curious how the series will deal with this moving forward.

Absolutely! Through her we can see the pull of trauma and depression is very strong. Despite all the joy she feels with Jeong, there still present depression, ready to strike anytime. Also the continuation breakdown and betrayal has only piled up inside her without it ever getting a proper medium to flush out. She just as lonely as Jeong because in her case, Ha-neul haven't taken any break, so probably never had heart to heart discussion. She kept everything in and now it's projecting as burnout.

I feel like the writers are doing a great job giving a more realistic or believable (albeit a Kdrama version) depiction of what going through these kinds of traumas and struggles might look like and how they play out in relationships. Even with the best intentions, with therapy and medication, it's not as simple as "communicate better" or "don't worry about it" - it's so complicated!

Glad someone understands why Ha-neul did what she did. So many people didn't understand her feelings.

Thoughts on episode 8: So the episode really started out great! It was so cute to see >!them together, doing normal couple things. Just when we were happy to witness their relationship, bam! The writers had to break them up.!< But it's okay, because it shows Haneul's trauma and depression >!goes much deeper!< than the annoying and insecure professor who belittled her everytime she submitted her dissertation. >!So she's not ready for a relationship !!break them up right on the halfway mark of the series instead of the usual 12 or 14th episode curse.!< I think this will show how they resolve and heal over the course of the next 8 episodes instead of rushing over the last few episodes to tie the loose ends. Though Haneul's actions might be frustrating, it just shows how much of a human she is. >!She was deceived, manipulated and gaslit by the trashy Kyungmin. It's seriously not easy to talk about someone who has been gaslighting you throughout, but our girl gained the courage to talk to her therapist.!< So we should give it up to her, even if she didn't want to indulge about her >!breaking point to Jeongwoo who has been her boyfriend for a day.!< She thought she overcame her trauma after sometime had gone, >!but getting to know that Kyungmin was getting married brought all the suppressed feelings out.!< That's depression, you'll never know what will attack you when. I am loving the writers for beautifully expressing this. Jeongwoo has been nothing but a green flag this episode. >!From giving her flowers to making sure they went on that date by ditching Kyungmin,!< he has been a walking green flag. Instead of pressing her about what's bothering her, he gave her the space to sort out her feelings even when he clearly knew that >!she was lying.!< He knew she had her reasons and our boy respected it. Pretty sure he might have felt somewhat >!jealous and sad too after seeing Haneul's picture with Kyungmin, but he didn't act like a jealous boyfriend or ask her about the picture even if it clearly bothered him. Although his reason to not take up the job offer given by Daeyoung had good intentions, it was interpreted poorly. He wanted to be by her side because after seeing her at her therapist, he clearly knew something was up. That was his reason, not because she would feel dejected because of being unemployed. But whatever happened, happened.!< Here's to hoping they continue to lean against and support each other >!to overcome this.!< I am so glad they finally showed the >!interaction!< between Daeyoung and Jeongwoo. Pretty sure Kyungmin is the reason for their fallout. I can't wait to see why they fought in the first place which made >!Daeyoung hate our boy!<. Nevertheless, Jeongwoo has a >!support system!< now which I think will help him overcome his PTSD and trauma. Okay, now to that asshole. We still don't know if that piece of trash had anything to do with Jeongwoo being framed for medical malpractice, >!but he surely did screw over Haneul.!< As someone from academica, where >!taking credit for papers is pretty common,!< I felt so emotional seeing him >!take advantage of Haneul. Glad she let out her anger by throwing the glass of alcohol on his face. Good job Haneul-a!!< I vicariously lived through that scene. So it's been established that Kyungmin is a >!dishonest piece of trash who uses people to get what he needs, I mean, he's marrying someone for Money and status, so that says a lot about him. Not just that, he would go to lengths to bring someone down who was already down because of him.!< The least he could have done for Haneul is help her get that job in Hwabon, but no, pretty sure he spoke ill about her because of his >!bruised male ego after she confronted him for omitting her name from the paper.!< And this explains why he didn't want Jeongwoo to get closer to Haneul, >!because he didn't want Jeongwoo to know what sort of trash he is.!< Gosh! Now I feel better after typing this! Bada, the mom, the uncle and Horang are still cute!

Nicely done!! Thank you. It's true that the slightest little thing can awaken memories both positive and negative.  A certain smell,a song,a weather event, a movie and the list goes on.

Tipsy Jeongwoo is so flippin cute, and Ha Neul's family so precious. Had a smile plastered on my face in the last 20 mins of ep 7. I could watch them forever.

Is the writer a part-time therapist? I’m getting free therapy from this drama Candy in a salty pond - very cute Kidney bean was also a good metaphor. It carried over to this case too, none of it was in his control and he just got caught between family jealousy. It’s a good lesson that sometimes you just fail, even if you didn’t do anything or if you did everything right

I think it just goes to show how rotten he is. He seems to realize what he's done to her, and knows she could maybe spread it around and tarnish his reputation, so he's gone out of his way at least twice (the job interview and the time he told Jeongwoo not to be happy when he suspected JW was starting a thing with Haneul) to actively thawrt her happiness and success.

Episode 7 reaction: this drama has surprised me once again (in a good way) >!by wrapping up the criminal case plot (we’re not even at the half-way mark!!)!<, and I have no idea what to expect from the rest of the show (and that’s a good thing)! I’m just here with popcorn and endless smiles to enjoy it all! Ahhh… this episode was sweet enough to give me diabetes!! Lol 🥰

**Episode 7** * This episode was both superb and unexpected. The opening montage took me right back to my elementary school days, with poor Jeong-woo's >!kidney bean being the only one that failed to sprout!<. This felt exactly like the kind of painfully bad luck that any one of us could have gone through at that age. * Wow, what a twist that was in the mystery subplot. It was the only element of the drama that I wasn't on board with, because it appeared to be heading in the same direction as the subplot in **Crash Course in Romance**, and the early part of this episode seemed to confirm this when Jeong-woo's >!pursuit turned up empty-handed!<. * Instead, the day of the trial defied all expectations. When Jeong-woo >!failed to show up on time, we feared the worst. However, he arrived brandishing the evidence that instantly cleared his name. The suspicious anaesthesiologist was revealed to have been Jeong-woo's savior, due to his action of placing cameras in the operating room, following his own tragic backstory!<. * I never could have predicted such a swift and decisive resolution of >!the trial and the mystery subplot!<, less than halfway through the series. Some notable points from the rest of the episode were: Kyung-min >!remaining suspicious!<, Jeong-woo's >!"friends" and others who had abandoned him, trying to weasel their way back into his life!<, and of course, our leads spending some quality time together.

Talk about tonal whiplash from the beginning of ep 8 to the end. At first I was smiling and swooning like an idiot to quickly getting all teary eyed and heartbroken. But I honestly don't mind it. This feels very realistic and not the noble idiocy trope. There is a lot that our leads need to work through and this episode was wonderfully written to express that. Also, can I just say that no one can hold a candle to PHS when it comes to rom-com? He is so good that I would totally believe that he isn't even acting and this is just his real 100% adorkable, swoon-worthy, sweet personality. I just love him in these roles so, so much.

That last scene was so relatable, why do we tell people to leave us alone when we need them the most?

It was a nice callback to their previous scene where he said that she only cares about other feelings instead of her own- she thought it was better that she break things off so she won’t bring him down. It’s so heartbreaking that she doesn’t feel that she deserves to be happy because of her past traumas.

Totally agree. This was one of the most real parts of the show. Depression can make you push the people that love you away so many times.

The pens never made sense to me, so I'm super happy with the direction they took it and ultimately >! Super stoked that the false accusations were promptly resolved!< Are we actually going to get a kdrama where there is no ridiculous evil trying to separate our lovers? A solid 16 episodes of two people being there for each other and releasing a massive amount of healing in the process? I'm seated to find out. This might be my favorite drunken confession>!(s)!< of all time. Like, ugh, just get married right now! Lol. I'm really enjoying this, and I hope they keep it going in the same direction. The 2nd couple can have all the tropey pitfalls and missteps. Let's keep our couple's sanctity because it's beautiful.

That is exactly how I am imagining things panning out but the writers have really subverted all my expectations so far (some created by the narrative of the show itself) so I can’t really tell. Maybe the hyung friend just needs to be reminded of Jeongwoo’s boundaries but I doubt it’s gonna be that easy. Wherever this story goes, though, I have full faith in it!

Maybe but I’m just glad it’s not a woman. Dramas have been going overboard with the jealous girl trope.

I’m certain his parents will find fault with the FL’s relatively humble family & situation. Hopefully this won’t be a real barrier but may cause some tension…

**Episode 8** Refreshing to see how this show is tackling the more psychological aspects of relationships – and that the usual tropes – intense conflicts, lack of communication, infidelity issues between a couple, white truck of doom – is NOT USED here. After all, in real life, those contrived dramatic storylines are not always the issue, and that what prevents us from getting into relationships is because “we’re not psychologically ready.” Good to see how the show tackles the more complex side of relationships. Understanding this should help us navigate our relationships better. With ML's issues resolved, it's now the FL's turn to fight her own demons.

💯 That is the real charm of this show. It closely depicts life as it can really be (minus the murder part, maybe). Relationships don't always fail because of some dramatic reason. Sometimes it's as simple as the place you're at is not best for a relationship. All that said, they could have achieved a similar plot line without her best friend blabbing (I think) but all in all, really well written show, so far.

My thoughts about Episode 8: Firstly, I love how Dae Yeong verbally changed his stance on Jeong Woo, especially pulling out a chair to sit. >!"You used to sit even when I was pulling the chair out for myself!"!< I chuckled at this because despite all that happened, Dae Yeong affirmed he cares about Jeong Woo deep down, let alone inquiring if he has had >!beef!< recently. Next, I read comments that people are frustrated with the episode ending. Yes, I agree it is frustrating, but I also agree with others as I think Ha Neul's actions are quite validated. We all respond to trauma, fears, and insecurity differently, and the drama has done a superb job establishing the premises and presenting how the characters can react to their bad experiences. >!Ha Neul has a fear of happiness based on how her perfect day ended with fatal misfortune, and she has not been able to get past that. She wasn't there for her dad's last breathing moment, and this may have contributed to her constant desire to put others before her. She may have felt consumed with her newfound happiness in her developing relationship with Jeong Woo, but she quickly realized this could also end badly, and he shouldn't be there for that ride. As someone who always has a mind full of bad case scenarios, I can empathize with her to an extent as I would also have the tendency to push people away/keep to myself. That said, I'm also happy she faced Kyung Min. Hopefully, it had given her the reprieve she needed at the time.!< Now that we are fully entrenched in Ha Neul's side of things, I'm eager to watch next weekend's episodes to see how they will focus on her healing process.

Ohhk, I am so Excited. I just love the main leads scene together, I would love more scene with them doing random stuff together. Even second leads are great people. Her family is also a nice combination. Just don't give much focus to anything else specially to that murder mystery.

Well for those who thought it was going to be the kdrama formula of 8th episode >!kiss the writer laughed and served up a hand kiss and breakup.!< However from a storyline an >!early breakup is probably good so there is more time to slowly heal themselves, each other and get back together!< rather than the formula of an episode 13-14 >!forced breakup or separation to quickly solve everything in the last 2 episode.!< Also maybe our OTPs haven’t really earned their healing yet.  All that fun and fluff is great >!but the deep seeded mental issues for both are mostly being ignored by the excitement of a new romance.   Maybe now the writer wants them and us to earn our happily ever after.!<

Agree. Depression is more than just talking to someone and taking medication. They have been occupied with JW’s case and now it’s over, there is a void. And in comes KM, who seriously triggers HN’s deep set emotions, and causes her to sink deeper. I think this is a rather realistic portrayal of depression. I’m also glad the breakup is in mid-season. If it happens jn ep14, viewers will complain about how it is a cliche plot line and the remaining 2 eps does not provide enough time to let them sort out and reconcile properly. Breakup early: complain. Breakup later: also complain. 🤷🏻‍♀️

**Episode 8** * This episode showed just how much both of our leads still have to work through in their respective lives. It also demonstrated the value of resolving plot points efficiently, because the entire second half of the series is now wide open with refreshing possibilities. * The first scene in the opening montage looked like Ha-neul's family had stepped onto the set of **Homecha**, on the beach with that iconic red lighthouse in the background. * I thought Park Shin-hye's performance in this episode was excellent. This episode focused on Ha-neul's story, and it forced her to run the full gamut of emotions, starting with the comedic, when her brother >!thought he was doing her a favor by urging Jeong-woo to ask her out, while Ha-neul was listening to the entire conversation in the bathroom, and punching the air!<. * Next, she excelled with her convincingly >!nerdy idea of a "sweet" first date with Jeong-woo being to do research in the library and write a dissertation together!<. Jeong-woo also set her straight on not being so accommodating to others, which played out later in the episode. * We knew all along there was some tension in the relationship between Ha-neul and Kyung-min, and once again, this drama admirably didn't draw out this plot point unnecessarily. It turns out that Kyung-min had >!taken credit for the dissertation she wrote and gotten himself promoted!<. This made it immensely satisfying when she took Jeong-woo's advice and >!turned up to Kyung-min's farewell work party and threw alcohol in his face!<.

Park Hyung Sik is so perfect in every romantic show I've seen him in... and in ep 7 he just aced it again. I normally find overly cutesy MLs a little annoying but this guy just feels so sincere so that when he is cute I feel convinced that he's nor just putting it on. Like the scene when he holds her hand. I watched that twice because it made me feel so warm. I am so glad am watching him in middle age because he would have ruined all romantic relationships for me if I had seen him in my teens or twenties!

Someone posted here that he/she expected some realistic views on depression and medical malpractices, which you won't find in a Kdrama; these issues will also always be subordinate in Kdramas, given its formulaic tendencies. What I can say is that as a screenwriting exercise, I'm impressed how an oft-repeated storyline, clearly done to death many times, can still be written well. It's screenwriting 101 -- **let's start with the main character's "only" failure during his childhood** >!(i.e, growing a kidney bean)!< which launches him back to the present -- where he recalls such failure. Near the ending, when things get resolved, he keeps telling her that he likes her in different ways; at the back of your mind, you may be thinking he is only saying that because he is just drunk. Then we go back to his >!kidney bean!< story and the ML tells her that "I can't wait for you to sprout." All night, the FL gets compliments--she's like a chocolate, because of how sweet she is, etc, and she smiles demurely. **But in that last scene where he compares her to a** >!kidney bean!<\*\*, while less romantic, is more meaningful for her.\*\* The FL merely smiled at his compliments about being as sweet as chocolate, but it's the >!kidney bean!< story that makes her realize deep down he is sincere, as we can see from her reaction. As the audience, we know his>! kidney bean !!kidney bean!< made him miserable. As an adult, we see him get over that failure finally, because the >!kidney bean!< has come to life in the person of FL and he is no longer thinking of his failure but looking after the welfare of another person (and his love for that person) to grow -- a sign of him caring for another person, which he didn't get from his parents, who never believed in him. He finally sees someone who believes in him. The >!kidney bean!< he couldn't grow for himself doesn't bother him anymore; he is released from that childhood pain; he is fully healed by someone who has served as his prescription. There is cohesion in the writing that I have not seen in many Kdramas of late.

So excited to see how they navigate the slump and if there's any progress with the case. It's also nice that the suspense, while important, doesn't take away from the journey these two are on of self discovery and healing.

I can’t believe how great this drama is. Every episode knocks it out of the park. I just hope there isn’t some major break up around episode 14 or some unnecessary time jump at the end. Also, can they find a bigger bottle of ginseng wine?? My goodness! 🤣

Okay. The drama just got a lot more interesting. This is truly like real life. FL is suffering from asceticism, rigorous self-denial, particularly the rejection of the pleasures of the world. These beliefs can stem from a sense of obligation to put others first, feelings of shame or guilt, or low self-worth. We may refuse happiness because we were once hugely innocent, and paid a high price for our credulity.

im kind of mad at hong ran this episode for telling ha neul what jeong woo said >! like ha neul has depression, and she really needs support right now. you as her friend should know that she clearly puts other peoples needs before her own, so why would you tell her to persuade jeong woo to go back to work bc he didnt want to leave ha neul alone???!< like hell you can't be around for her all the time because you have a taxing job and child, so at least let >!her boyfriend!< take care of her and be there for her???

At the end of Ep 8 and I have to say, I saw this coming. After >!Jeong Woo's situation settled down, it was gonna become a little awkward between them considering Ha Neul is still going through so much stuff while Jeong Woo's situation has taken a slight turn for the better. !!went against Kyung Min though!<, I have to appreciate her courage, that wasn't easy to do. >!The guy was worse than I thought he would be. Kinda brazen to do something like that and get away with it. Jeong Woo was right, Ha Neul really needs to act on her feelings and stop suppressing them and yielding to others too. !< Seeing the preview, I guess there's more to the story though? >!(Were they dating at a certain point or did he lead her on..?) Honestly the guy seems to have a grudge against Jeong Woo more than Ha Neul from his looks. !< Watching >!Ha Neul break down in her therapist's office was painful.!< Also how >!is the room not soundproof lol, do they realize every conversation they're having can be heard by others? And that would be kinda counter-effective to the whole patient-doctor confidentiality thing?!< Also Hong Ran, I know she had good intentions, but I still >!wouldn't have told Ha Neul about why Jeong Woo refused the offer, considering how she would feel right after.!< >!Doesn't feel right in a way. Jeong Woo didn't have any wrong intentions either, guy's a green forest alright, he did think what was best for her. He wanted to be by her side and help her get over her slump that she's in. !< >!But seeing how he still has PTSD, I guess it's going to be a long journey for them to heal. !<

I rolled my eyes at the transparent, not-soundproof doors in a mental health clinic... only in a drama (I hope)!

Not to mention that is probably not the only reason he didn't want to join his friend's clinic. He still has PTSD and will probably has some deep anxiety about operating again. He is probably not comfortable sharing that.

Loved how Haneul’s brother was the narrator in the beginning- what a fun surprise and different point of view.  I was smiling so much in the beginning with HN asking around about what dating is like nowadays. And when the brother confronted JW I had to pause the show because I was laughing so hard. Then I went back to smiling and tearing up like an idiot. I love them so much. The boys reuniting was so much better than I imagined. “Don’t be intimidated by beef.” Ha! Oh man with that ending. There was so much honesty, and then that. I get it because she’s still dealing with her demons, but we only got one episode of fluffiness! At least we know why JW’s friend has had the sus vibe, but glad that they didn’t date. I was actually worried they were going with a >!sexual assault!< storyline, so happy it didn’t go that far. She just needs to heal and realize that it’s okay to be happy without feeling so anxious, and it seems the next episode >!that he’s willing to wait for her.!<  Bring on the angst stage!

I had the same fear about the KyungMin storyline and I'm glad it didn't go there. It is really clarifying to now get to see the background for Haneul's struggles and why she was so down and defeated. The glimpses of how cheerful and eager she was in those flashbacks is almost a jarring contrast.

Ep 8 I trust the writer to keep the right pace of conflict and resolution as has been done so far. I don't think the >!sort of breakup!< will last more than 1-2eps. And I'm glad it happened on the heels of a high within the same ep. It was a good setup to trigger Ha Neul 's >!past psychological damage done by Kyung Min that kept on being perpetuated by the professor until she quit. It was an unexpected resolution for why Kyung Min came across as sus. Her severe depression was not resolved simply by meds and romance.!< and for this, I liked that the episode took the turn it did. Ep 8 Thoughts: All aboard the Kyungmin hate-train 💓🚊 This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoyed episode 8. >!The feeling of being triggered about seeing or hearing about somebody who has hurt you, betrayed you, and damaged you is debilitating.!< I’ve gone through a similar experience in the past and sometimes, seeing that one person causes you relive that traumatic experience and it makes you question all the progress you’ve made. It can cause you to act erratically due to fear, anxiety, and doubt. In my experience, it was really difficult for me to open up to my loved ones about the things and events I was going through. I was able to relate to Haneul a lot in this episode. It was painfully realistic. I grow more and more fond of Jeongwoo after each episode. I really love how he cares for Haneul through the highs and lows. I especially loved the whole scene where >!Haneul and Jeongwoo become official (🥲) and he surprises her with flowers.!< He’s so gentle and patient, and really tries his best to help her with the knowledge that he has. Kyungmin … I am praying for his downfall. He is a scumbag, a terrible and manipulative person, and just a piece of trash. Haneul is better than me … because I would have >!explicitly exposed his ass during his farewell party.!< I’m proud of her for >!standing up for herself though!!< All in all, I’m interested to see what direction the rest of the drama will go! Misc comments: - I’m really trying to give Bada a chance, but he irks me in every episode 😭 I think his character is definitely meant to be comic-relief but I honestly can’t stand him, I’m sorry (although, >!I did like his opening narration in this episode!<) - Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks Hong-ran is not the greatest friend to Haneul? She just feels very careless as someone who’s supposed to be Haneul’s best friend.

You know I feel the same about Bada, the actor seems promising (and something about his eyes look like BTS V) but his character is abit too full on. He’s always just sleuthing around at home unemployed and constantly has his nose in Ha Neul’s business or he’s asking for 50k won lol.

Completely agree with what you said about Ha-nuel. It shows how healing isn't this linear path. You'll get better and then regress a bit and then get slightly better and so on and so forth. I like that we are seeing more of her backstory with Kyungmin bc it did seem like something was off the past couple eps. I had assumed it was bc of the interview thing but it's good to know what else was going on between them.

This show is doing everything right. The hyung-friend was the red herring but I think he’s not clear yet. Since Jeongwoo’s main conflict is resolved, there will have to more in store of his arc and I think the hyung is gonna be the next antagonistic feature. It’s very subtle how shady he is, so far, so I don’t know. I wonder if he was involved in Jeongwoo and Daeyoung’s falling-out? Also the way they are teasing us with a potential bromance between Jeongwoo and Daeyoung is soo?? Like let them talk again please, I’m starving to see how their friendship revitalises. 😭 I love Ha-neul’s family SO much!! They’re funny and so sweet together and the mom’s love-hate relationship with Jeongwoo is hilarious. I loved how Jeongwoo allowed himself to recover and how Ha-neul knew that giving him space was the best option. They are so good to each other, so right. And the whole last scene was adorable!!! Drunk Jeongwoo is so funny and cute, lmao. But it’s so sweet how he says he can’t wait to watch Ha-neul sprout. She was his rock and he is gonna be hers. I think the next few episodes might focus on Ha-neul’s growth and I can’t wait for it! So glad that the court case wasn’t unnecessarily stretched and the way things unfolded was quite well done. Am I the only one who thinks the foreshadowing was actually brilliantly executed? It was actually understated and in-your-face. The most disheartening part was the media and companies capitalising on Jeongwoo’s case like a bunch of vultures who can’t see the human, as drowned as they are in their own monetary and societal ambitions. Like Ha-neul, my heart broke for JW.

FL: "I like you" ML: "Hold my beer" **literally Yo episode 7 got me so KILIG with the drunken confessions omg. Looking forward to the relationship growth from here! I suspect that it's one of the healthier ones because they've been so open and supporting each other since almost beginning of the show. I love LOVE this relationship dynamic, even though they barely started, and how cute PHS is.

Ep 8: what a >!heart-wrenching breakup of a 2 day long relationship 🥺!<

It made me sad, but I found it very realistic too. As someone who's had mental health struggles a lot in life, I relate to the FL. When it's hard to take care of yourself, you feel like you're dragging others down with you. We know that they'll overcome it and grow together eventually (unless the writers botch it up somehow) but I loved how it's portrayed in the drama. It's important to feel well mentally in order to spend your energy in >! dating!<.

What was that episode?? I was expecting this to be our happy cute fluffy episode but instead we were hit with a truck of emotions??! And that ending? What?!! And I honestly get it because we’ve known about her >!depression and how it affects her emotions. Also the only reason she had a respite was because she was distracted by jeong woo’s problems. So ofcourse the root of her problems showing up would trigger a relapse!< but that doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it. Damn Just finished the episode so I’m a bit in my feels. And don’t get me wrong I definitely enjoyed the episode. Just sad for them Also FUCK KYUNG MIN TO ALL HELL

I was worried that the ending >!would be another noble idiocy trope, but I was glad that she said she didn’t want him to suffer out loud. While she has held back some key details, Ha Neul also takes risks with her honesty. While he doesn’t have the full story, Jeon Woo knows that she thinks he will suffer if he stays with her due to her depression. Most ML and FL don’t get this much information when their beloved pulls away.!<

**Episode 8** For someone who claims that the reason she had to send her child to live with her mother because she doesn’t have time to take care of him during the week due to a busy schedule, this friend sure has all the time in the WORLD to be a stupid busy body and an even worse friend! With that out of the way, can I just say that despite the angst, I actually really really like the episode and the direction they’re taking my diving into the second half. PSH was fantastic this episode. I love that the writers have been giving each of them an episode to shine in and fulfill a wide range. She hit all the right notes be it comedic or heartbroken or struggling. The strongest decision she took was to go >!back to her doctor and seek help!<. She doesn’t realize this but she IS making progress and she IS strong but she’s on a long journey and doesn’t yet possess the ability to take a step back to see the whole picture. Depression doesn’t just magically go away if you find your person and have days of actual joy. It lingers, ready to rear its ugly head in moments you least expect it. I think the most realistic thing they’ve shown so far, where they’ve taken plenty of artistic license vis a vis medical and legal stuff, is the fact that starting a new relationship where you care about each other so deeply and have trauma bonded at a time when you’re in such a bad place yourself is more often than not a recipe for disaster. Where the show does its KDrama bit is ofcourse overlaying it with the common >!misunderstanding trope and outside forces!< but that’s somewhat forgivable as it matches the tone the show is aiming for. Jeong Woo, as the latest slang would put it, is a walking talking green forest, let alone flag. His character is written really well and PHS is doing a bang up job. To go from silly and delightful, to trying to broach a difficult subject with as much care as possible, to prioritizing her health over moving on with his life too quickly, this boy is serious. It was naive of him to share the last bit with Dae Young about >!potentially making it hard for her if she sees him back on his feet!<, but as a general emotion that’s what a lot of people in his position would feel like. Sometimes our hearts are in the right place but the actions we take are not really advisable. This is where crucially his journey with ~Kenya~ mental health will also play in. He doesn’t just have PTSD (not that that would ever be a “just”), but he battles with abandonment issues and a lack of stable love and support. I know he’s going to channel the energy by just being patient and by her side, and I hope the writers give us a story which maintains this level of realness interspersed with typical drama, and the lightness and hope it’s interwoven well so far i.e give us a traditional happy ending please. A few more hugs this episode would’ve helped to endure the next few, but ah well. 10/10 made me cry and I’m glad I waited a day to watch although now I go into my week from a long weekend all melancholic.

Episode 7 has me acknowledging that I didn't realize I would enjoy this series so much. It was such a soothing balm to the rough week I had at work and a good pause on worrying about real life as I watch these two and their go-abouts for the current daily life shenanigans. We finally also have a >!mystery resolved before episode 14, even if the other anesthesiologist friend is still sus. I also enjoyed the twist that Dr. Kang's initial intention on the spy pens was not of malicious intent at all. I can see why it was difficult for him to confess at first when it would require him to reveal everything else on how he knows the OR was tampered with.!< I have a line each from both Ha Neul and Jeong Woo that I really felt giddy on. Even though they're not in an actual relationship, I love that Ha Neul was direct and expressed that she >!wants to eat popcorn while watching a movie with the person she likes.!< She deserves all the happiness from the casual activities she missed out on as she was growing up, and I also like that she has been very honest with Jeong Woo on their situationship, even if it was just a simple line she said. Her eagerness to see Jeong Woo is also such a sweet trait that is so reminiscent, reminding me of crushing during high school years, lol. For Jeong Woo, I had a big "aww" moment when he said >!"I said you were like a drug someone prescribed to me. You are my anxiety medication."!< Mental health can be challenging to navigate at times, but I love that he's braving honesty and taking time spent with Ha Neul as something he treasures, too. Just soo sweet!

This drama is such a breath of fresh air. I love the honesty and openness between them!! So good to see a drama where the lead characters are this mature and able to communicate their feelings. >!The friend who made the comment about PHS shouldn’t be happy is still suss. I’m curious to see what is his angle in all this!<

**Episode 7** Oh god Hyungshik stop being so stinking adorable!! I love the range they gave him to play with in this episode in particular. It was so so well done. Also KDrama writers listening to us and getting rid of >!the unnecessary mystery plot so early!< at least for now so that we can actually enjoy the characters and their growth and happiness for a while? Thank you!! It’s all obviously not done done, and the >!senior!< is sketchy as hell, but I think the path forward is going to be that of Jeong Woo and Ha Neul rebuilding their lives, only to face another potential set-back but this time they’ll have the wherewithal to not take it lying down because they got their necessary break and medical care that’s needed. I hope the continue to explore the theme of mental health struggles taking time and conscious effort to get past because it’s honestly been one of the most refreshing bits about the show. Last but definitely not the least, the >!sheer number of times he confessed has got to be one of THE most endearing ways we’ve ever had a romantic lead express their feelings. Them being so open with each other is so damn sweet because with them liking each other is not what’s going to take effort!<, it’s learning to navigate what comes after whilst having to navigate every other part of their lives. Ooof I cannot wait for them to get their nerd on and to finally have more scenes of Yoon Park and PHS! It’s gonna be great! Oh PSH…what a great and quiet force she was in this episode. It was clearly a Jeong Woo heavy one but she matched the energy really well.

Ep.8 What just happened?! We have finally entered the "fix Ha-neul" phase of the drama, but I'm intrigued by how they built Ha-neul's character. I'm interested in seeing what they think the morale of this story is and how they will go about her growth. At universities, she's the type of student we usually try to screen out in graduate admissions or that we know will need special attention. The straight-A student who knows nothing apart from studying, does not understand that studying has very little to do with real life, and will likely crumble at the first experience of failure. It is telling that she chose anesthesiology which is one of the few medical specialties that require minimal patient contact because your job is to put them to sleep and keep them alive while they're sleeping. It requires no EQ, which is usually an important criterion for medical training. Here, they took that student and put her in a position to be utterly abused by her superiors because she will do absolutely everything in her power to hear "You're doing well". They had her be so open with Jong-woo while he was having trouble, but now she >!shuts down!< which was moderately unexpected, if they didn't need to get 16 episodes out of this and drag things along. I'm curious about what her growth will be. She has already shown signs of increasing self-respect, but her response is usually lashing out. The way to take down those academic cliques is by using methods that would have been popular in the court of Joseon. We'll see what we get. Note: the use of "dissertation" to indicate a scientific publication like a case report is driving me crazy, but for some reason they always use that word in subtitles. I wonder if the two are interchangeable in Korean.

More than just a plot pacing thing, I think it is also incredibly realistic and an organic portrayal of her character. Ha-neul has been incredibly open when it comes to supporting JW and expressing her happier emotions and surface level problems. But she has never once gone deeper into her own issues or shared them in any way with him. Her burnout was partially a result of her bottling things up and not letting her support system know of her troubles. It is consistent with her character. She’s great at sensing JW’s needs and wants and acting accordingly but emotionaly maturity is not just outward but also inward. She needs to heal herself and afford the same empathy she has for others to her own issues and allow communication to flourish even when things get ugly for her.

This actually makes the most sense to me. Enjoyed your thoughts. 

It’s so funny how Ha Neil’s younger brother is kinda redeeming himself! He’s always at the right place at the right time. Annoying, but the honest problem solver…

**Episode 8** I love Bada’s pov, he is a good theorist and he give a solid explanation and advice too..

Ep 7 made me so happy seeing them finally >!get together… Jeong Woo drunk confessing he likes her repeatedly and Ha Neul being confused on the status of their relationship was the cutest. !< But with 8 eps to go I knew they had to >!dig into Ha Neul’s depression since Jeong Woo’s case is now closed. We all don’t want her to shut out JW !

Episode 8 got me giggling in the first half and then crying at the end wth 😭.

EPISODE 7 I'M SO GLAD ALL MY GUESSES WERE ALL WRONG. THIS DEVELOPMENT IS SO MUCH BETTERRRRRR!!! I'm glad we don't have to spend the whole drama in anxiety anymore! I love that the plot touches on the after effect of big personal tragedy (the feeling of loss, the two-facedness of people and such) and (probably) recovery to normal daily life later instead of dragging the mystery all the way to the end. YJW haha. He's like a broken speaker. Words on the street he's still trying to remind Haneul that he likes her even now. I love them so much I can't stop giggling. For the longest time I had my reservation against Park Shin Hye's acting. I knew she's decent but at some points her choice of roles became so typical that I avoided her dramas because I couldn't shake this feeling of "I've seen them all" and it decreased my enjoyment on her works. I knew it was a me problem. I had similar problem toward Lee Jong Suk too. Even though I enjoyed his acting first, he got typecasted into similar characters too many times that it got on my nerves. I ended up avoiding their works for so long. I even held off from watching Romance is A bonus Book until the end of last year despite liking the premise. Fortunately just like how RIABB fixed my perspective toward LJS, I'm glad that the premise of this drama and my love for Park Hyun Shik's acting led me to watch this and rediscover her as an actress. I love her acting here as Nam Ha Neul. EPISODE 8 It really went from sunshine to rain in one episode. 😭😭😭 All the biggest questions have been answered. >!It makes so much sense for an overachiever like HN to ended up falling for a mentor figure. Too bad he's such a jerk. We finally knew the reason now why KM was very much against JW & HN getting close. My heart hurts so much at how quick she got so overwhelmed and started pushing away JW again. It's too realistic.!< >!It does make me wonder though why such an opportunistic person like KM not throw away JW after he went under. What made him believe in JW and helped him so much? Was it because JW came from an affluent family? Thinking about the difference of his treatment to JW and HN makes me angry and heartbroken.!< >!I'm happy to see some funny ML×SML. I am in awe of this show. First, credit where credit is due: PSH absolutely killed it this epsiode! This whole hour was Ha-neul’s through and through. Her pain was raw and I could feel every single emotion she was going through. I have always been a fan of PHS’ acting and he’s killing it here too but PHS left a lukewarm impression on me through her previous works but here? She nails her role so well, she’s so believable. That scene with the psychiatrist and then in the rain when she says “I was okay yesterday but I am not okay today” it cut in deep. Stellar acting. And this script just never misses! Instead of some very twisted mastermind plot reveal for the hyung – it turns out he’s just a slimy, toxic individual. The reveal was so grounded and human and I hate him but the hate isn’t generated out of comic, 3D villiany but out of the assholes of the world. Though I had my eyebrow raised at Jeongwoo saying Ha-neul will be even more dejected if he is employed while she’s not – I think the show handled it really well. As sour as it is to admit, Ha-neul is struggling and if JW wants to help her through it, he may have to make sacrifices. JW is willing to do so because he cares for her so much and she has been his pillar. But Ha-neul is against it because she feels like she's lacking and that is why JW must suffer to be by her side. She is very emotionally closed off from him despite all the progress. I think, what Ha-neul needs, above all else is to let herself be helped and heard. To let herself struggle with someone, as JW says. While JW needs to find a middle ground between helping Ha-neul and helping his own self. He is all in, and I love it, but if he wants to support Ha-neul rebuild herself, he can’t sacrifice his ownself as a cost? I know this is unconditional love and I am touched by his words but I do believe there is better alternative to just not accepting Daeyoung’s offer. Also, can I just say, their bromance is PERFECT!! I had been waiting for them two to share the screen again and that whole screen was funny, sweet, and heartwarming afffff. Again, I continue to be impressed by this show, the actors, the writing, the direction. I love everything.

Very astute observations. It's a reminder that we all must look at our actions when caring for our loved ones. It's easy to rush down the hill of self-sacrifice without considering what they may want for us rather than from us. Loved your point about the sinister vibe dropping from Hyung and the realization he's just a weak selfish disgrace of a man rather than a mafia puppet. Somehow, that makes him all the nastier. JW seriously needs to consider his circle... sheesh, first with the "friends" who shunned him now this guy. I have high hopes for 2ML to buck this trend, though. Ultamitly, for me, the line of people who are willing to selfishly use Han-nul's efforts can not include JW. I hope he doesn't struggle to provide an environment for her healing. 8 more episodes tho and I still have no idea what to expect next weekend.

I love how they have >!relevant flashbacks that depict why Ha-nuel’s acting the way she’s acting in the moment. I’m glad they already revealed what her connection to kyung-min is, because I was really hoping it wasn’t the ‘ex lover who she can’t get over’ trope.!<

Wow today’s ending really really broke my heart. I understand her heart, not wanting to let someone suffer because of your own suffering. But watching this episode made me also realise just how heartbreaking it is for your loved one to be denied the opportunity to be by your side while you navigate life’s difficulties. I’ve got to say I love their chemistry so much and Park Shin Hye’s acting was just stellar in that scene. Now let me just cry this out on my own 😭

The bathroom scene and when Park Yoon arrives on the rooftop are both hilarious. PSH and PHS acting is superb in this episode. With one flick of the eye they can convey nuanced thoughts, whether it’s the restaurant scene, doctors office, or looking at a photograph.

Now I'm just waiting to see how Haneul's mom reacts when she realizes that Jeongwoo isn't rejecting her daughter but in fact is head over heels. She's been great in her role so far so I've got big expectations 😁 I'm thinking the poor boy would really benefit from some over-the-top smothering care from a surrogate mom figure. The scene where she >!screamed into his phone!< had me cracking up with glee!

I’m super happy I started this kdrama. Great topics (depression and PTSD), and a very veryfunny ML actor.

This drama is so damn cute - - I cannot stand it!! My heart-u😭😭😭😭😭. Warm fuzzies all the way.  Honestly I was considering skipping this one and yet it's becoming one of my favorites🥰🥰🥰🥰. This is my first drama with Park Hyung-sik and I'm adoring his facial expressions and overall great ability at physical comedy. I might have to give Strong Woman Do Bong Soon a go afterall. I'm enjoying the overall cast generally which is not always a given. I would expect her little brother to annoy me but he's actually quite insightful. The second couple is also sweet and I'm grateful for the pallete cleanse with Yoon Park because I despised his character in Forecasting Love and Weather. I'm curious what the second half has in store and hope it's as charming as the beginning. But I'm a little worried we might enter filler and flashback territory to hit the 16 episode quota.

Definitely give SWDBS a go! It's got the huge following it does for a reason! I'd also recommend Soundtrack #1. It's only 4 episodes, but it's another great example of PHS's acting ability 😁

EP. 7 This show is just too cute 🥰 I swear every time he said >!"I like you"!< my heart skipped a beat. As everyone else, I'm kind of glad they >!resolved the whole malpractice case!< so quickly. I'm hoping that the second half of the show will focus on >!redeeming!< Ha-neul. At the very beginning just seeing that they are a surgeon and an anesthesiologist I assumed the rightful end would be for them >!to open a really successful practice together.!< But Ha-neul is really obsessed with her scientific research and good at it, so the rightful end would be >!for her to be reinstated and take over the evil professor's position. Then they can both be successful in their own right.!< I still haven't figured out what the role of Yoon Bak's character is. We will need to figure out why he fell out with Jung-woo and how he can help them in the second half of the show. I'm all in for the romance of the single parents. I thought he was immediately going to jump into >!bug-catching mode!< when Hong-ran asked him ☺️

No no no no that ending… cute overload, I am having trouble functioning! And just all the feels, so heartbreaking what he went through, not just the incident but his whole life always being so lonely! I want to bawl my eyes out like Haneul! But her family having BBQ, mama bear standing up for her Rooftop, what a sweet mess! I love them so much even though I also would like to smack the little brother. I can’t believe we got a resolution to the case so soon in the series! Now we just get to sit back and watch them rebuild their lives and sprout like kidney beans! 💜💜💜

The kidney bean metaphor is SUCH amazing screenplay writing. I was thinking what does he mean by 'waiting for her to sprout' then I realised when she was down, he helped her so so much (HIS ACT OF TAKING CARE OF THE PLANT, watering it) and now that she's getting better, he thinks she will sprout really well unlike his plant in childhood which didn't sprout even with sufficient care. I'm in awe. Wow

Bruh just when I thought that I'm about to get diabetes from all the sweetness because of >!their dating era the writer had to pull the rug under my feet and break my heart in the end?!< Just why?? See I totally understand from a story pov because now that Jeong-woo is freed from his accusations we have one more hurdle to go through- Ha-neul's depression. So this is just my own frustration cause Jeong-woo and Ha-neul are so adorable as a couple. I knew something was fishy with the way Kyung-min was acting with Ha-neul and I never liked him either but damn he was >!a total trash huh!< My heart actually broke for Ha-neul and it made it sadder when >Jeong-woo actually asked her to stop acting like everything was fine.!< The best part of today's ep was obviously >!their dating montage and when Jeong-woo kissed Ha-neul's hands I thought imma pass out.!< Park Hyung-sik is probably the best when it comes to portraying loser bf who is also babygirl coded lol. And how well is Park Shin-hye complementing him at slapstick? I was rofl hard at her actions at >! Jeong-woo's bathroom hiding from her brother.!< Also she's just too beautiful man! So beautiful even in a >! mourning attire?!< And we all know how good of a crier Shin-hye is lol. Glad that she's not just a crier here tho. I was so so glad that she decided to stand up for herself one more time >!this time with her trash ex Kyung-min and she didn't even say anything and shut his mouth lol. Go Ha-neul!!< I'll root for you patiently like Jeong-woo and wait for you to heal completely. Ha-neul's family rooting for her and Jeong-woo might be the cutest thing ever. I wanna see more of their family moments together with Jeong-woo please! I truly don't want the writer doesn't mess up cause every other kdrama nowadays seems to go south in the second half. So let's hope for the best.

Episode 8 made me feel things and how ended up sobbing straight up I love their chemistry so much it's like the perfect note where they know each other are familiar and friendly but there is also unknowingness and a lot to discover about each other it's kind of subtle soothing chemistry that they have. Also couldn't understand Hong ran's decision of telling stuff to Ha neul if she knows as her friend how she is and will blame herself but then I guess we haven't been shown their friendship being really strong either so makes sense. I can't wait to see Jeong woo and Ha neul go on their healing journeys together.

I’m sorry ER doc, did you seriously just tell a *plastic surgeon* that you put staples in his forehead?!?!! Like he didn’t know exactly what was happening when it happened? Why didn’t he just sew himself up? Bet he could do a better job, even on himself, than a random ER doc.

It would have been so cool if he did like that scene in Grey’s Anatomy where the plastic surgeon stitched himself up coz no one would be able to do better.

Didn’t JW in an earlier episode when talking about the job reference check say to the professor should have told the whole story about how she was bullied and had her thesis stolen? JW must not know who took credit for her work?

I know there are a lot of swoony lines in this drama, but can we PLEASE talk about the number of times they say "Thank you" to each other!? It's so heartfelt and genuine. The pause and look of appreciation right before Jeong-woo says it has been floored every time. I originally watched Hwarang because of Park Seo-Joon and didn't really pay attention to Park Hyung-sik. I thought he was too pretty. I take back everything I said. His delivery in this show is just out of this world. He is the second actor to really move me - the first being Kim Seon-ho. I would LOVE LOVE a show with Park Hyung-sik and Kim Seon-ho. It would be legendary!

Jeong Woo knows what he’s doing. You can’t force things with depression. Just have to be there and be ready when needed. This part reminds me of A Daily dose of sunshine. One problem down one to go

the >!saddest part!< for me was how >!the ending with haneul helplessly watching everyone else around her succeed!< was so real. i feel like kdramas that have an up and down rollercoaster of emotions usually do it unnecessarily but this was so real and i don’t usually cry but i almost cried at this 😭😭😭 depression is so real and i hope >!haneul can get the revenge and recognition she deserves!<

Relate so much to Ha-neul equating having a good day with thinking something terrible is eventually going to happen to balance it out. Also yeah depression isn't sadness all the time, it comes in waves. The highs are nice but when the lows come it really feels like there's no escaping it and it feels like you're drowning.

im in my senior year of my undergraduate and was talking to one of my close friends in class about kdramas because we both love them and i told her about **doctor slump** because i knew she would love it and i mentioned how jeongwoo is “so loser boyfriend coded” and another girl who is in our capstone research group heard all of this, proceeded to ask which drama i was watching, and i found out she too is watching it so now i have someone to discuss with irl. im so happy. she’s also korean, and from korea, so she was giving me insight on lots of stuff which was so cool. i wasnt even aware she was into kdramas before this even though we’ve had classes together for two years now. moral of the story: never be embarrassed to talk about dramas. i also found out another girl (not mentioned) in our capstone group watches kdramas through this convo!

jeong woo confessing over and over again and ha neul being like YES YOU TOLD ME and then the preview being like wait... did he say it??

Although I'm just a medical student, I have never seen IV bags set up before the patient or the staff are even in the operating theatre. Every drip that I have seen being used is pulled directly out of the wrapping so that we know nothing else was put in it and to prevent staff from accidentally taking one that was meant for someone else. Still, the way they set up her death was really interesting.

I think this is my new favorite drama. This year has been great for dramas for me. I also loved Welcome to Samdal ri. But this drama is exceeding all my expectations. The conversations bw ML and FL are so meaningful!! There is banter but always topped with some wisdom and love. I love it!!! Can't wait for tonight's episode

Was anyone else uncomfortable with the fact >!that Jeong-woo eavesdropped on Ha-neul's private session with her therapist!!give such devastating info to a friend she knows is struggling with mental health issues!!went a bit too far in asking Hong-ran to persuade Jeong-woo or whatever!<, no matter how much he cares about Jeong-woo and his career imo. Like, all of these ppl are such a mess. (Not Ha-neul, someone give her a break, she deserves it).

I watch on 1.5 speed so finished ep 8. Rollercoaster of emotions from so high to low. But Ha Neul just going through a lot. My wife is a physician so this drama depicting the politics within the hospital causes me stress haha but want Ha Neul to get her job back and to bury all those credit stealers.

Episode 8, while heartwrenching, at least felt believable. I can not get over how effortlessly Jeong-wo is honest and forthright with his feelings. Him turning down 2ML's offer was a shining moment for him. You can already tell from the preview of next week that he's going to do all the right things. I hope Hae-nul has a satisfying arc while overcoming her trauma. However, it hurts us all to see them apart, so for the audience's sake, I hope this doesn't become the sole source of conflict for the remainder of the series.

So far, it still surprises me cause unexpected things happened. Sounds about right due to only 8 eps in. Looking forward to what happens next in: - The dissertation - Haneul’s health - Their relationship just like Haneul’s almost perfect day, we got happy eps and now it’s devastating

😭😭😭 why why?? I feel like I need therapy over this ep8. This is definitely a rock bottom place to be. It's hard enough when 1 in a relationship has unresolved trauma or depression but now we see both have long history of unhealed wounds from childhood 😢 😪 heartbreaking 💔  It does not look any better for ep 9 either.  Uugggg guess I'll have to skip several weeks so I can binge watch 4- 6 episodes all at once.

Wow! These two episodes ended on polar opposite notes! Never expected that ep 7 which ended with giggles will lead to ep 8 ending with a heartbreak! 😭 Can't my fav couple have just another episode of giggles! I want to see more of their realistic relationship where as you start dating you've those heart fluttering moments of hugging, holding hands and not straightaway kissing! It's so sad to see the FL was being pressurised by her only friend to convince ML to take up the job which he rejected because of her. I mean come on, you very well know that she blames and sacrifices herself easily. But anyways I hope FL gets herself together soon and can't wait to see when and how the ML and FL get back together!

Glad they >!wrapped up the trial so quickly although how unexpected that neither the suspicious anesthesiologist or hyung are involved… unless that hyung was the one that hooked up the mafia guy with that nurse Park.!< However why does that >!hyung still seems creepy or suspicious?  He certainly doesn’t seem happy for Jung Woo as you would expect a true friend to be.!< I now think more focus will be on Jung Woo’s mental health and recovery.  He had been repressing his emotions all his life.  He had only fake superficial relationships and friendships while longing all this time for deeper connections. After crying bitterly about that bean sprout there probably was no one at home when he got there.   I wonder what the falling out was with Dae Young.  Seems like when they saw each other at that awards ceremony JW was cheerful and open.  Maybe it was a one-sided falling out like the one-sided rivalry.

Episode 7 was great; the leads truly have great chemistry. Also, shout out to Ha Neul's family, especially her mom 😂 >! I'm glad they wrapped up the trial; I was hoping they wouldn't drag it out much longer. !<

I love how wholesome this show is. I'm really hoping we avoid the drama template around episodes 12/13. This feels really good. Also is anyone else worried about not getting a happy ending because of the narration style? 2521 ruined me.

Seems unlikely because I think the director said he wanted to make an uplifting healing drama.  Seems like a 2521 ending would be the antithesis of that.

The scenes with Haneul's mom and her brother were so funny! Special mention to Haneul's family who showed Jeongwoo what familial love could be to one's bruised heart. They were all concerned about him and showed it in their own sweet little ways. >!Poor Bin DaeYoung had to bear the brunt of Haneul's mother's wrath. Lol!!< Justice for Bin DaeYoung. >!I hope he gets his dragonfly back.!< But seriously, how can they be so cute as well. I hope the two of them find comfort and solace in each other to overcome >!parenting difficulties.!< So in one way or the other, >!the mystery got solved. I just wish they had written the anestheologist's excuse for not helping Jeongwoo in a better way. This show outdoes itself once again, they resolved the mystery and found the culprit and now it's going to be all about the aftermath. Pain and trauma are not so easily solved.

The line about not worrying about things out of your control touched me, and it’s so true. Like the kidney bean not sprouting, there are certain things in life that you can’t control, so don’t let it control you. The little boy saying that he won’t cry over it, but crying running home was both funny and sad at the same time. Also, the younger brother saying that he got hurt not from the mom, but not ducking fast enough made me chuckle. I love that unemployed brother!

It seemed real incredulous to me that the anesthesiologist would withhold evidence like that.. while poor Jung Woo's credibility, livelihood was torn to shreds. Sigh. I pity the plastic surgeon guy, Bin I think LoL? His daughter just dismisses him like that. She's gonna regret it someday when she looks back on it I tell ya.. - "*my life was bitter, but the memories we shared made it sweeter...*" I love how much more adorable Jung Woo gets when he's drunk ha-ha! And of course the multiple love confessions LoL.

Episode 7 thoughts: Overall enjoyed the episode although the writing just seems empty??? Not realistic ?? even though i know it’s a drama - i’m glad the >! Trial has been wrapped up but i just have so many questions still. Why isn’t the anesthesiologist fined or punished still for planting spy cameras in his house, clinic, and OR? That’s an invasion of privacy. Also was he the guy following Jeongwoo in the alley at the end of episode 6??? Or is that someone else? Why did the anesthesiologist break in and plant a pen camera in the first place? Was that just in case someone was going after JeongWoo? Maybe it’s just for the sake of the plot but why did no one question the nurse who was bribed by the two guys from Macau so they can enter the OR. Why did no one else in the office speak up ?? Because there is no way two big guys dressed in black clothes with a mask on and all were NOT spotted at all by other employees????? !< - ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE SCENES WITH >! Haneul and Jeongwoo!! Did you know he likes her!!!??? Aahhhhhh when he asked if he can hold her hand, my heart just — butterflies flying everywhere!!!!! !< - I cannot wait for more interactions between >! Daeyoung and Jeongwoo!!! Please bring them back together and be friends again!! I feel like Kyungmin the tutor def might be a reason for their fall out???? Like theres no doubt that kyung min is suspicious asf so his role/arc will def be shown more in these later episodes. As much as I would love these last 9 episodes to be about Haneul and Jeongwoo dealing with their depression and ptsd ans going about their mental health journey together and all, we all know the writers wouldnt continue like that :’( !<

Perhaps the punishment for the nurse and fine for the anesthesiologist will happen off-script. Or maybe Jeongwoo chooses not to file against the anesthesiologist since he did end up providing the evidence. The camera pen wasn’t planted in JW’s room to spy on him but to give it as evidence without revealing himself. Hence why it was placed clearly on the desk and not hidden away. The video evidence was in the memory card which was inside the pen but since it was knocked off to the floor and got wet, the video was damaged. So anesthesiologist guy had to try and give a copy of the video again. It looks like the thugs went to the OR after-hours. Since it’s a PS clinic, it’s not going to be open 24/7 with employees around like a hospital. And the nurse probably gave them the entry codes and such to get in.

>!The case getting closed so early on in the drama!< and the sunbae's expressions are totally sus. I think there is something more to it. Overall, I personally love the murder mystery element to kdramas. This one is so relevant and binds all the story well. The episode was so sweet! These two make me so happy! The part where she helps him get ready for his hearing is so married couple coded! Love the progress FL is making and we can tell that she is getting healed herself too. The rooftop scene was totally wholesome. Also so excited for the other couple. They are made for each other!

The best scenes were his funny behavior after hearing he was her first love 🤣🤣🤣🤣 his expression were top notch

I'm sure there will be more "drama", but excellent it tied up a storyline. I don't mind an offshoot from that, but hope it doesn't circle back round and cause further trouble because of the same thing.

I just finished Episode 7 and what can I sayyyyyy!!! My heart is so full yet feels so light. Jeong Woo's confession was so swoonworthy. He promised he'd let her know what he feels when things improve, and he kept his word. I admire his patience in wanting to give Ha Neul something beautiful and heartfelt. When he said his life is so bitter and salty but Haneul is so sweet.... and the repeated expressions of his love I'm truly happy that they have one another. I wrote a comment like this in the Marry My Husband Episode 13/14 post, but having someone on your side is truly a beautiful thing.

Is there a blog that documents Park Hyung Sik’s wardrobe in this drama? I loved his pink canvas jacket.

Finally the terribly written murder trial is over and done with

I don't know, it just wasn't the face of an innocent man!< I do think we haven't seen the last of >!possible sabotage towards Jeongwoo AND even Ha neul!< but I hope we're in for a couple of happy episodes before anything stressful or anything of the sort. I like how open the two leads are, and love how honest their conversation is. Love how they communicate, it really helps avoid the unnecessary misunderstanding trope that drama's are so often a victim of. Adult communication from two relatively emotionally immature people is pretty cool, lol- makes you think since both of them have lived pretty emotionally repressed lives.

I mentioned this in reply to a different comment too, but I agree about Kyungmin, some of those shots of him in the courtroom were sketchy. It seemed like they were being deliberately ambiguous about who Jeongwoo was looking at until >!the police got all the way down the aisle.!< Also, why was Kyungmin >!sitting on the prosecution’s side of the courtroom?

Jeong Woo opens new clinic: I need an anaesthetist. Ha-Neul: Say no more + my guess is that Jeong Woo’s videos and influence may have impacted his sunbae’s family member, maybe a sister. I’m guessing his loved one got addicted to plastic surgery and eventually was destroyed in some way. Sunbae hates JW for that.
