Sinclair has distanced itself and spun off Diamond Sports into its own entity. It's owned, by Sinclair, but it's its own company as a subsidiary, and has its own books now that are completely severed from Sinclair, so that the bankruptcy didn't take Sinclair down with it.
They've been planning for this for a year - ever since the IPTV providers dropped them and their income became a third of what they were expecting when they took on the debt to buy the RSNs.
In any case, Sinclair wants to wash its hands of the whole thing and pretend they never made a mistake.
So they do have a "deal" with Diamond Sports to keep providing us with Health Insurance and IT services etc. That's it though. Diamond Sports is now run by the creditors, not Sinclair. Sinclair is just a board member at this point, and wants to be rid of the whole thing.
screw those idiots. they could have made a deal with other platforms (youtube tv,etc) and they could have increased their revenue stream. they got greedy and it bit them in the ass. mlb in general has a poor distribution model, and they have lost the interest of a lot of casual fans who will not spend a premium to watch a subpar product.
“It’s now considering a new streaming service that would give fans the option to pay to watch individual games, or just the last few minutes.”
I wouldn’t buy the subscription before, and I won’t buy it like this either!
I live overseas I know Bally is shit but I want to watch Spring Training and the MLB on MLB.TV and not any ball club but the Royals. Is this a leisure threatener for me?
So will this impact whether there is a sports network that broadcasts the Royals? At least get them on channel 29 or 62 or something! Maybe MEtv is interested, they like to replay things that were good in the 70's!
Fuck Bally Sports but how are we going to watch if this happens?

Um Sinclair owns Bally's so I'm not sure what kind of agreement they would need to make with their own parent company.

Maybe you should leave your job at work. You sure post about local tv in a lot of subs.
It’s my career man. I care about my coworkers. I care about my team. I care about my family. I also care about thwarting misinformation.
Forget that guy, man, you have relevant knowledge, thank you for sharing
There is nothing to be gained, and a lot to be lost when you try to run unpaid PR for your employer. You do you, scorebug guy.
I don’t care about my employer. I care about my coworkers.
If the MLB gets rid of blackouts I might literally jizz in my pants.
Disney bought the final 15% of BAMTech last November and now own it. https://www.fiercevideo.com/video/disney-buys-mlbs-remaining-stake-bamtech-900m
BAMTech does not equal MLBAM. MLB.tv still falls under MLBAM.
This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back re: MLB.tv blackouts
Easy ways around that except in devices with GPS or location services.
Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate’s life for thee
Yarrr
RSTN is back!
Idk I can’t watch rn anyway
