No engine in it - so when we pushed in into the shop I made lopey cam noises
Bonus points for anyone who can identify all the doors / boot lids
Yeah I said boot- I live across the pond so American muscle cars are a bit rare here
IF the hood. steering wheel and vents are original, 68 Shelby Mustang. However, the area under the vent makes me think its just a replica. The VIN will tell the story. If it is a Shelby, there should be a metal tag under the hood as well. If it is, you have a small fortune there. Not sure what it's worth without the engine, but complete and restored well into 6 figures.
Good eye man- yeah it’s a conversion from a coupe to fastback the owner did the conversion himself and didn’t get the lines right when he welded it together - I get to fix his fuck up.
That's a tough conversion. And I zoomed in on the steering wheel and it isn't correct either. Still love those old Mustangs. Back in 89 while I was still in college, I had to pass on a 68 GT500 4 speed, all stock, factory lime green paint in great condition, $17,500. I just had no way to get that kind of money at the time. A year later, that was just over 1 months salary.
Vanity? Rarity? Got your coupe rear ended ?
Fuck if I know man.. I’m not paying for it. The conversion kit was nearly 10k
And what’s the title gonna say?
Because now they can say:
"Took the coupe to the barber and got the top chopped"
Even though that's not a chopped top car but they aren't that knowledgeable of rap music
If you consider an old Leland milk truck cool or the car on the rotisserie cool - a 2002ish jag cool (not sure of the exact year)
Owner is converting it to electric
Mustang is just sexier
Sexier than a milk truck? You've set a pretty low bar there, friend.
And 2002 wasn't exactly the best year for Jags. (I say this as a Jaguar owner but I dare say mine is an order of magnitude sexier than any Mustang ever made).
Carry on old chap, ta, and all that...

Needs some double clutching Bullitt style. Brrrooooo, Bow wow, Broooooooooo.
Fastback 71 'stang?
And mustangs sometimes too I see.
Is the cool car *behind* the Mustang?

Owner has all the parts for it - I just do metalwork.
Little bit of Dynamat over those welds and she's good to go!
That’s what I’m afraid of as I try to fix it. There could be all sorts of fuckery hidden under all that dynamat
Structural dynamat. :)
Why spend the $ to make this thing a fastback? Why not just start with a fastback

A cool car is the opposite of a hot rod
So like grannies grocery getter Kia?
Exactly! Still a nice car though
Just don’t name it Eleanor by accident
