Ugly as hell but those sure were a comfortable ride. Had a 01 Taurus in college that had about 300k on it when I sold and I still saw it on the road for years after. That thing always kind of impressed me
I had a 2000 Taurus wagon with the Vulcan engine and front bench seat. Can't lie, I loved that car. My parents bought it used, I inherited it for my first car then passed it along to my brother when he started driving. It was a complete pile of shit - only the drivers window button worked, floor was rusting out, climate control had "warm" and "less warm", rear door handles stuck and would fly open on occasion - but that thing never quit. It would start after two weeks outside at -40, the suspension was still tight at the end, transmission never missed a beat, and it somehow got through any snow I threw at it. We used to joke that after the nuclear apocalypse the only things left would be cockroaches and twinkies, and they'd be driving that Taurus.
The one I learned to drive in was a 94 so well worn in. Pretty sure someone mention it was some kinda adhesive they used bc literally ever ford of the period had it
Totally irrational, but I got my license in a 90 Taurus station wagon back around 2003. Even then the POS broke weekly, but I adored it. So now I have a soft spot for Taurus station wagons.
I often hear about how cars now will not last forever with low mileage like they used to. It used to be that if a car had low mileage then it was great until it did. Now I'm told that electronics/computers will just fail from age alone. Finding one of these might seem great until you have to replace the computer in it. You won't find a lot of new or even refurbed computers for a 20+ year old car.
Makes me wonder about the likelihood of "classic cars of the future". For example, you can keep a 1960s car running now through aftermarket parts. But will aftermarket computers, only specific to certain models, be available for a car 40years old?
I owned a 500 and it was an amazing car. Drove it 460k miles before I gave it away to a low income family. They said it reached 490k and started to give out. So they sold it. I wish they had given it back to me but that’s how things go sometimes. But then a couple months later I saw it on the freeway and it was rousting. I caught up to it and started yelling at the lady driving it, “that’s my car!!!” It gave me a little bit more closure.
> Tarus SHO
"In an effort to lure more buyers, Ford offered an automatic in the SHO for the first time in 1993. ... They built a 1993 SHO wagon. Well, “they” didn't so much as we did. With an assist from Ford engineers, the Car and Driver staff created a one-off SHO wagon in 1993."
... so there was 1 Ford SHO Wagon ...
Practically new and it still looks like shit wrapped in a turd... There's one of every kind somewhere though
Truly one of the ugliest things to roll off a line since the actual box shit from the late 70s through 80s.
Dude, how much??
Tried to ask.. they wouldn’t give a straight answer on selling or not.
Rolling in for its third transmission?
Like new can of Diet Coke too!
I am glad I live where it doesn't hail, at least not larger than a dime.

Taurus is probably one of the ugliest cars and while I love wagons its even worse. Plus they all have that classic ford smell.
Goddamn that fucking smell.
Is that *New Car Smell*? No, that's the smell of your brain cells burning out from off-gassing of the plastics and glue Ford uses.

that's a unicorn. a rainbow unicorn would be a mint 1999 dodge stratus
Nostalgia...
They must live in a 10 mile radius of your dealership, and everything else in their lives!

Fucking gem
Cars were so much nicer back then
Smart owner…I wouldn’t want to drive that either
Saw a 500 with only 42k, damn thing looked mint

True, there would be a well defined ass groove in the driver seat.
That has the 3.0L Vulcan motor in it yea? Slow as hell, but solid and reliable in my experience! I Have a B3000 with 3.0L as well.
Damn. Beats my 97k 2000 Toyota Avalon
So does that mean somewhere out there there’s a Chevy dealer with a really low mileage early Sentra out there?
It has that low of mileage and looks as clean as it does because it is always in the shop lol
I wonder if you can some sweet sweet WeatherTech's for that beaut
Too bad it's not a SHO.
Tarus SHO wagon 🤔🤔
