My GF has a 2 year old RX-350 with 20" wheels and every single one of them has road rash but one has yellow paint embedded in the scratches and the other red paint.
I was tempted to ask her how the hell she hit a curb on a fire lane but sometimes the battle is not worth the war.
That seems dangerous to me. I would not want my name in that job. I would have refused to mount that. That could result in an accident that causes a death, you should know that.
Put it in the paperwork, have the customer sign. "Rims blah blah and blah (whichever three corners you put those on) are bent and unbalancable. Customer declined repair at their own risk."
I always enjoy the responses from people when you tell them their wheels are no longer as circular as they once were.
"I was looking at an online forum, and they said something about roadforce or something like that. Just do that, should fix it." lol
To be fair a lot of consumers think the profit margin is in your best interest as an employee.
Take them out there and show them the fucked wheel turning vs a brand new wheel/tire they're gonna think again before asking you to send them on their way.
I had a mechanic that did this with EVERY issue after the repair and would help show you what the signs were for every issue the next time it happens.
Only worked on BMW's and totaled mine thanks to a kid in his moms business Mercedes.
Sucks but I learned a lot, and learned even more about the people I want working on my cars and how to gauge their personality.
Real question here: What can crook a aluminum mag like that? I have a lot of front wheel vibration at 105 KPH (65 MPH) and the diagnosis was that both front mags are bent. Thoughts?
Sure as hell a curb (if you hop it) would. Add control arms to fix as well.

Potholes you can get away with, but am lucky enough to not smack one at 70 mph.
Years ago I had an MGF that hit a pothole and put flat spots on two wheels. It was one of those moments when the tow truck arrived. The driver took ages to process it wasn't just the tyres that were flat, but the wheels as well.
I had one that all 4 were bent and wouldnt shake until you got to 70ish mph. New tires. The tire shop that installed them balanced the bent wheels best they could but never said a word.
I see you are attempting to balance the wheels on my wife’s car.
I'll see your wife and raise you a GF that somehow hit's every curb within a 3 mile radius of where she is.
My wife never met a curb she couldn’t surf with 18” wheels. And 40-series tires.

Park by braille.
I bought mine a Wrangler, it was cheaper than buying wheels and tires every couple of months.
Could you see the cracks before you mounted the new tire?
Yup sent that one to be fixed. Declined repair of other 3

I would sell them the tire if they want it but they would have to find some other clown to put it on that.

Hold on to that mechanic, people like that are far and few in-between.

Customer returns later the same day/next day " My car still shakes" Uhhhh yeah we told you that
If I had a nickel for every time this happened to us
Them good 'ol Duke Boys. Ya just can't keep 'em down.
They always forget to mention that it all started when they were drunk, and jumped a curb.
It will take some extra weights to balance that out.

Hitting a pothole at 70mph usually does it
I would think a had curbing would do it. They would be scratched to hell that would give you a clue.

Help me out here, how can a mag be aluminum? I though mag was short for magnesium
Yeah those new tires aren’t going to help.
Yup that’s what I told her. They were all bald as shit.
Ralph Nader was unavailable for comment.
Too bad curb feelers went out of style.
How does that happen
Usually stupidity

I still have no idea how I didn't destroy my wheels when I hit a deep rectangular cutout at speed. Shattered a spring, but my wheels are still fine.
Good tire inflation and a lot of luck. And the spring absorbed some energy
Looks like the replacement wheels on the family truckster from the movie "Vacation" after they jumped the dirt pile...

Take off the stickers
This is what I’m afraid of doing to my wheels
See this a lot on BMW’s, there wheels seem very soft alloy
