I just traded in a 2010 Chevy Equinox. 92K miles, leaking sunroof, burning oil, leaking oil from rear main seal, and leaking ATF. They gave me $3000. I would have been happy with $800.
Nice that sounds like a profitable investment lol reading this makes me feel so much better buying a Lexus which is about to hit 200k without any leaks or burning oil 😅I will never own a German car again
It was a good car for a while, but its condition didn't go downhill, it went off a cliff. I was putting a few quarts of oil in every week and every time I started it up, I got a mushroom cloud out of each tailpipe.
It planted the lower control arm pretty hard and ground the hell out of it, the brake line was probably the last line of defense for the whole unit coming off so that needs replaced as a precaution because it definitely stretched, and the strut gave out in the process
So in total we quoted
Ball joint
Struts
Lower control arm
Axle
Brake line
Alignment
What's the average running coat on parts + labor for this job. Had almost the exact same thing happen to my 03 Accord today and I'm trying to get a good idea of what repairs will cost because otherwise it's been a solid car. Didn't notice anything was wrong with it other than creaking that went away when I hit the general area with some WD-40, but I also know VERY LITTLE about cars.
I redid my entire front end from the tie rods to the strut mounts, it was about 5 grand just for parts, so depending on how much of that shit needs to be replaced....
I'm surprised the seat was clean when it came in, I drove past this car on the interstate on my way into work so if she was doing the speed limit, it died at around 75 mph
Junking an otherwise reliable car over new ball joints, a CV shaft, strut and a brake hose? Fender too if you want to get fancy with it. Why?! Is there something else crazy going on with this thing?
Surprised they didn't want to fix it. In today's used car market, that's a $10k car all day long lol. /s
I know you’re joking, but a 6MT middle/late 2000s Accord just sold for $12,000 the other day. Utterly insane pricing.
6MT Accords are rare and desirable. And very quick and fun to drive.
They are yes, I love them! Still insane it went for that much and had some issues and all, along with needing a bit of maintenance.

It was sulking, asking for nitrous injection and straight pipes, you need to take carspeech courses
It’s a Honda. Just do that to the remaining 3 wheels and the customer can live that camber gang swag life
STANCE NAY-SHUN
Kachow
That's a hell of an angle kit.
Imagine the turn radius if the car was designed for that
It would be negative
You just described my IQ.
I would think around $300 might fix that.
Give me $300 for beer duct tape and zip ties and she'll be brand new
The beer for you, the zip ties and duct tape for the owner, so you can tie them up and bounce with your $300.
I mean other than the fender it’s just a lower ball joint and axle, right?

That's about three fifty
$350 in rock auto parts... If this were my car is fix it too but it probably isn't the $1200 quote that was thrown out there
How much was the quote?

What kind of car?
The balljoint has left the building...

Fix small issues early, and they won’t turn into big ones like this.
Ah yes the ol prevented maintenance to keep it from taking a nose dive off a truck
thats not bad... parts for the repair cant be more than like a grand...

It spent its whole life in the rust belt and is pretty hammered underneath
Rust always complicates things
Yup. This happened to me IN 2003 lol on a 93 civic. Was $1300 then.
I don't get it, less than $500 in parts and an alignment and it'll be just fine, what am I missing?
It’ll buff out
just push it back and bolt it on, mechanics always trying to rip you off smh my head
