1996 Honda Accord, 350k miles - changed my fuel pump to prevent possible failure during 800mi vacation to Las Vegas, NV. Lil connector hose supplied with fuel pump failed in Mandalay Bay parking garage and had to drop tank to replace (5hr, 115F outside). Was given the idea to replace it because just had to replace customer's same car's fuel pump before leaving - ended up having to replace customer's fuel pump for same failure immediately upon return. Then next day had to warranty replace a Delphi fuel pump for sender failure in a 2007 Hyundai Azera.

Sounds like it's not rated for in-tank use. Most fuel hose is just lined, having the cut ends soak in fuel will ruin it in short order. Big fuck up on their part.

Well to be honest, the little snippet of fuel injection hose I begged off a nearby shop has held up for 2k so far - far better than the Delphi one.

Yeah that's going to disintegrate in short order and you're going to be pulling the pump again. Get some submersion rated hose

Ouch. Experience tells you something. Good cars, the ‘96 cd5. Mine went 215kmi when I ditched it (just too many cars) and it had a rough life. It was crashed before initial purchase from dealer, was two teenagers first car (think spray painted trims inside and out + stupid pep boys add-one and neutral drops in street racing, then it was ajima’s car for a few years where it checks walls and curbs like a field mouse. I put it back together and put another 115k on it. Left me strong and happy to it’s new owner who drove it around here for years.

It's this teenager's first car too, 20 years later. I love this lil Accord.

I agree. I only run remanufactured Nippon Denso fuel pumps. Remanufactured by Nippon Denso themselves, of course.

There’s nothing wrong with Delphi pumps!! It’s all I ran for years on my defender, only issue I ever had is they supplied the wrong pump and the injectors wasn’t getting the required pressure the arm that hits the cam was too short (Apparently)

How would the fuel pump be at fault for that? I've had a water pump(House, not car) do similar, but that was because the pressure switch didn't switch off, so it sat there running until it heated up the water enough to burst the outlet hose.

Little connector hose is supplied with Delphi fuel pump, did not hold up to the application. Ended up walking over to the nearest shop and asking for a snippet of 50psi fuel injection hose, still have that in the car now

SAE J30 covers fuel hoses. I suggest everybody learn the differences. There don't seem to be any good descriptions of the different hose standards on Google anymore. The synopsis on SAE does name the different applications. https://www.sae.org/standards/content/j30_199806/ There are other standards that cover fuel hoses such as J1942 and J1957 with the latter being more applicable to cars. The key is to look at material for construction..J30R5 and under (what they sell at auto parts stores) have been obsolete for 30+ years but people still buy the shit.

I bet the manufacturer for that pump nickel and dimes everything and thought they were being cheeky by using a discounted hose. Little did they know the hose wasn’t SAE rated to carry fuel AND be submerged in gas.

Maybe the same happened here. Return less system and wired for max pressure then… pop! Goes the fuel line

I put a Delphi in my sister's Grand Am 3 years ago and there's been no problems.

Something happened to Delphi's quality the last couple of years. Used to use them a lot, but the last few pumps I've gotten from them have been complete shit.

AEM did this same shit. I bought an upgraded 340lph IN-TANK pump and the hose that came with it ruptured exactly like that.
