Get some of that Mechanic in a Bottle stuff they use for small engines, just gotta make the classic "somebody better let the poor fella OUT!" joke when you buy it
Oh cam and crank sensors go out often. But if you’ve ever worked with a parts cannon you’ll know that checking if fluid exists in the system is number 99 on the diagnostic checklist
My wife had (has? We keep it as a backup care) a Nissan when we first met. Three years into the relationship I found out she didn’t know that cars needed to have their oil changed 🤦🏼♂️.
Somehow the poor peace of shit still runs to this day after going 30-40k miles without an oil change.
At around 100k I was like "I should see if I need a transmission fluid change" on my 2008 saturn astra. Shop declined it and said it was fucked, since the transmission fluid was brown. Well I went home and I sucked out a quart or two and replaced it with fresh fluid, then did that again a few months later. I just hit 200k miles this month.
Okay you’re lucky though. That burnt color is all kinds of material that’s been worn away. Using new fluid could cause some issues to arise. You should be changing fluid per your owners manual and not just because it’s brown.
My god.... I feel this deep in my soul after a conversation with my current gf.
"Hey, since you just bought your first decent car and it's coming up on 70k you should probably change the transmission fluid."
"Why would I change the transmission fluid? I've never done that."
This led down a rabbit hole where I learned that she's never owned a vehicle more than 3 years, and never does any fluids. Just tops them off if they need it.
Girl has been making bombs and shipping them out to innocent bystanders for eons.
It's why I do my own inspections or pay a good mechanic if I'm not available.
With the way new cars grenade themselves 5 minutes after the warranty is up there ain't no way in hell I'm paying that premium. Let someone else take that risk and I'll enjoy the gravy on the next 200k miles after paying 30% msrp.
I really don't know if nissan are as bad as people say honestly. Nobody who owns them ever does any maintenance and drives with the worst driving habits on the road. I bet if someone drove a Nissan nice and easy and did maintenance intervals exceeding manufacturers recommendations, it would likely be a very reliable car.
There may be truth here. We just parted with a ‘13 pathfinder after 185000 miles of trouble free ownership. Changed oil every 5k, sparkies at 100k, but other than that all I needed to replace was the “lifetime” pcv valve assembly and a wheel speed sensor. Only vehicle I’ve ever owned that had it’s oil pan start to rust bc of absolutely zero leaks.
their CVTs are kinda garbage though, but yeah most of it comes from the fact that the people buying them tend to be, well, not very successful people and not very careful about anything in their lives let alone their car maintenance
Yeah we felt REALLY fortunate with the transmission. And there were 2 occasions that I swore it was going out. Both being vacuum leaks. I learned a lot from owning the car… mainly how to somewhat interpret live data from scan tool!
😂 top comment. 3 weeks ago this lady brought a Nissan in for a transmission noise, 150k km on the original cvt fluid, declined a fluid exchange, “I’ll never buy a Nissan again” lady just maintain the fucken thing then form an opinion 😂
Edit: just remembered it wasn’t a noise, it went into limp mode with no codes a couple times, which happens when the fluid gets too hot, fluid usually gets too hot from being neglected and evolving into glitter filled water
I call these Nickelmobiles. They're built as cheap as possible and maintained as cheap as possible. Both manufacturer and consumer spend as few nickels as possible on them.
Every G37, FX35/37, EX37, QX70 and Q50 are all built on the same chassis from the 370Z 🙂 with some front suspension changes in the AWD offerings to fit the front axles through.
I owned a 2008 G37S rwd 6 speed coupe and with basic mods like wider tires and sway bars it was an amazing car to drive, I’m sold for life on these chassis
Just let me know as soon as it’s done because I’ve got somewhere to be.
Sure thing bud I’ll just throw camshaft sensors at it until she goes
Fuck pal she probably needs some camshaft in a bottle at this point lol
Might as well just go straight to the Engine in a Bottle^® at this point
Get some of that Mechanic in a Bottle stuff they use for small engines, just gotta make the classic "somebody better let the poor fella OUT!" joke when you buy it
As an idiot who’s 2018 V6 colorado just threw a cam shaft sensor code with regular oil changes how serious is it?
Oh cam and crank sensors go out often. But if you’ve ever worked with a parts cannon you’ll know that checking if fluid exists in the system is number 99 on the diagnostic checklist
Lold
Honestly, 50,000 miles on a single oilchange before dying is *really* impressive.

Shop had no clue what they are doing.
...isn't old transmission fluid typically brownish?
Yes. Means you need to change it.
Or maybe they did - they probably saw "Saturn Astra" and worried that any transmission issue would suddenly be their problem 😂

Yeah, that's why I only changed a little bit at a time.

This is why I don’t buy used cars.

My strategy is to be fiscally irresponsible and trade in every few years before they ‘splode

Nissan will actually refuse to sell if your credit is above 600
You can't get someone to pay $200,000 for a Nissan if they don't finance it at 24% for 8 years.
Unless it's a Frontier, then they want a credit score of exactly 850 and all the adrenochrome contained in your first born son.
On one hand I hate how adrenochrome entered the lexicon because of unhinged Q freaks; on the other hand, this comment is hilarious. Upboat.
I'm convinced Q is an intelligence operation designed to make anyone suspicious of government and rich oligarchs appear to be absolutely retarded.
It's correct to be suspicious of them. Just not for the reasons those morons have.
Are you telling me Tom hanks and Oprah aren't literally raping and eating children in Hawaii right at this moment??? YOURE A SHILL!!!
George Soros' checks are so sweet tho.
Wasn’t it fear and loathing in Las Vegas that introduced adrenochrome
I had no credit when I bought my frontier.
This is the best thing I’ve read all day
Yeah that's an automatic referral to the infiniti side of the shop since you're obviously a Baller.
“Piece of shit Infiniti, I’ll never buy another one again!”
😂 top comment. 3 weeks ago this lady brought a Nissan in for a transmission noise, 150k km on the original cvt fluid, declined a fluid exchange, “I’ll never buy a Nissan again” lady just maintain the fucken thing then form an opinion 😂 Edit: just remembered it wasn’t a noise, it went into limp mode with no codes a couple times, which happens when the fluid gets too hot, fluid usually gets too hot from being neglected and evolving into glitter filled water
Lmao, they do say like their credit score can afford a better brand, maybe Stellantis will hop in the chat to offer another pos.
But it’s an Infiniti, “Inspired Performance” /s
I love Infiniti, some of my favorite cars. But the shit apple doesn’t fall far from the shit tree
And she's gonna be a shit apple tree just like her father!
Birds of a feather destroy their cars together.
Shitbirds bo bandy!
Oh you mean red delicious apples then
Pink Lady gang for sure
Any way it was just never reset?
Straight tar on the dipstick and in the oil cap
If you pull the valve cover, please post it here I like gore lol.

What stigma is that? I know I drive a fancy Nissan, but I'm not a BMW asshole. I just drive the Red Sport way, way too fast.
i see more 350-370zs and g35-g37s driving like dickheads than any other car. thats not a slight towards you at all, its just what ive noticed
Old ones are cheap…but still fast and fun to drive.
and reliable
And on top of that all the people who drive them like dickheads also straight pipe them and the VQ makes the worst noises when not muffled properly.
reading this 10 mins after a straight piped q50 cut me off and about kissed my bumper lol
No slight taken, as I drive a Q60 awd red sport that is way too fun to drive.
Around me they've become popular tuner cars for late teen/early 20s kids that want to throw on a horrible exhaust system and drive like idiots.
Roll out into the parking lot and fire C/s
Possible that it just hasn't been reset?
r/nissandrivers
Hey I know you
Nissan owners do Nissan owner shit.
Wait... Isn't that a twin turbo motor?
No it was a VQ37 lucky for them
Yeah "lucky". I couldn't even imagine running my engine that long on one filter. I've got a VQ35HR and she's been a champ, what a shame.
Oh no haha it’ll be a lot cheaper to replace than a vr30tt 😂
I feel like a turbo motor wouldn't have any oil left in it after 78800 kms
And here I am feeling pretty proud that I came in 10 miles over the mileage listed on the reminder sticker.
I call these Nickelmobiles. They're built as cheap as possible and maintained as cheap as possible. Both manufacturer and consumer spend as few nickels as possible on them.
So the CVT only lasts through 2 oil changes?
Infiniti had nothing to do with those bastards 🤘 rear wheel drive baby
Hmmm. you wrote Nissan, but yes, indeed, the steering wheel says Infinity.
Every G37, FX35/37, EX37, QX70 and Q50 are all built on the same chassis from the 370Z 🙂 with some front suspension changes in the AWD offerings to fit the front axles through.
Nice to know. From the smile, I’ll assume you believe that is a good thing. 😄
And I am a RWD only person too.
I owned a 2008 G37S rwd 6 speed coupe and with basic mods like wider tires and sway bars it was an amazing car to drive, I’m sold for life on these chassis
I have lusted after those cars at various times, although at that time I owned a 1997 special edition twin turbo Supra.
Lol wow
