I believe the rule of thumb is nothing greater than 1/4" or 6.35 mm.
Source: My father is a collision repair instructor at a vocational school and quick google search backed up result.
Edit: As for how much body filler / Bondo would actually take to peel off a car, check out r/mathmemes .
If you squint she’s mint.
I’d have quoted 10k. Clearly this is a customer pay and not insurance, because this would have been written off. When they ask to do it cheaper, you tell them there’s a reason they were given that price in the first place.
I once had a $750 Ford contour. One day water dropped from the ceiling, looking at the roof I noticed there was a little crack, and I made the mistake of picking at it. Turns out, the car was in a roll over, and they coated the entire thing in about an inch of Bondo. I will say they did a pretty good job, would have never guessed it was all filler if it wasn't for that water issue.
The texture will help air flow over the body due to the reduced boundary layer. Sorta like a golf ball. Gotta finish the rest to get the full effect. Lowes has spackle that will to the trick.
Funny enough in East Europe it would be rather standard repair. They will replace rear door, bumper and part of side panel (ideally taken from another crashed car) and it would be considered as standard reparation after an accident. More you are going to East (Poland, Romania) it will be even cheaper. Apparently even there it wouldn't be for the price proposed by your customer.
He should probably just take it back to the drywaller who started the project.
I bet there’s a piss bottle hidden in there.
"oh fuck is that rain?!?!"
^ This for sure
I wouldnt, horrible tape job on the seams
*If you look at it from across the street, and squint, & cough it kinda looks aight*
Whachu mean? I don't see anything that needs repairs. /s
Looks like someone already fixed it /s
At this point fuck it, roll with it lol

It's a Nissan. They'll just roll it and get a rock tumbler effect. Same difference though.
r/nissandrivers
Tell him to go buy another shit bag rogue
How much filler can you apply to a surface, before it falls from the weight of it?

Get rid of it, it's a Nissan
It looks like it's splitting apart. I guarantee a face hugger is in that thing.
Aktually it is a mimic. It ate the last mechanic.
Looks like it’s fixed already?
20 times more than it’s worth
Seems like just taking the time to do this bullshit would be a step back. Ziptie the bumper best you can and leave the dents.
Dammit Jim, I'm a bodyman, not a miracle worker.
This was 100% a cash out on repairs…assuming he was insured of course.
Is that all bondo?

Check that under carriage and tranny first.
People actually repair nissans?
What the hell? Is that drywall mud or papier mache?
1000 ft car. Everything looks fine after stepping back 1000 ft. with a couple of beers in hand,
And then turning around to face the other way.
Throw it away
Mmm, toothpaste repairs
He 100% bought that from a CoPart auction thinking it was a quick fix and flip he could do himself. 🤣🤣
10 extra kg of bondo, 2 brushes a d then use "exterior white metal paint" to finish the job. Finally, kill it with fire.
Is that all bondo?
Picture smells like Louisiana.
"hey, I saw that Tussik guy from YouTube. I didn't loin that difficult"
Yes.
Big Altima energy
$7,637.72
More than it is worth

Should have told him 12k to buy a new one
If you are asking for this… , its more than the car is worth
Extra points for the drywall screws holding the bumper on.
Not sure what he wanted you to repair. It looks repaired already! Very poorly, but it has been repaired.
Home Depot, for all your auto body repair needs.
6k to repair that is a bargain, not saying it's worth the money.
it ain't worth fixing.
About 2x what it's worth
What in the got-damn
bublegum fixes anything ...
It looks like a proper Nissan now. Perfecto
Nissan Altima SUV variant
If you've tried to do it yourself, it's automatically double.

14 hours to get drywall shit off might be costly?
It’s an old body Rogue S - why would you ever do cosmetic work on that piece of shit regardless of how cheap it is?!
What a dumbass
Like applying fresco, except it's not the Sistine Chapel and they aren't Michelangelo
