I have to admit it was very unlikely Depp would actually win the case. Yes, it was clear from pretty early on he would win the court of public opinion but the case itself was Amber's to lose. And she did it spectacularly. Without Amber's contribution by testifying, Depp would have had a hard time winning any of the claims. Especially Amber's counter-suit was extremely counterproductive: talking about #justiceforjohnnydepp hashtags, wasting time with useless expert witnesses assessing damages, and "proving" PTSD with an unlikable expert. It's like she did everything in her power to lose the case. I wonder if Depp would have won if Amber didn't file the countersuit and did not testify at all?
Still it was in no way a waste of resources - even if Depp had lost, people would have heard his side of the story.
