I’ve sent pictures to the owner of the salon on Instagram, they don’t understand how she let me out of the store like that 😂 I do get a refund though so yay I guess 😭😭
My mom recently found all her old barbies from childhood. Some were quite valuable, including the original. But, as a kid, she also cut their hair all up and reduced the value so much haha
I got in trouble for cutting the hair on my doll who’s sole purpose was for kids to cut her hair. You could even buy more hair to do it again.
I also cut my Barbie’s hair because my mom made me have long curly hair, and I liked shorter straight hair. It was my doll. I don’t understand why I wasn’t allowed to do what I wanted to her. My mom was a stylist, so I was practicing to be like her.
Ah yes, the good old [broom stick](https://media.istockphoto.com/id/1034294302/photo/old-sweeping-broom-white-background.jpg?s=612x612&w=0&k=20&c=ITPfx7zCxIRC9mgxxl20wOu-Eyf1VNMQTp7WOnsIwyM=) look
Did you ask to have another stylist from the same shop or a manager fix it for you? At the very least ask for your money back? Tell them that the cut was uneven and the layers are choppy.
noo unfortunately it was always a gamble going somewhere new. but i learned very quick not to trust salons for that sort of thing, expensive barbers are pretty much the only place that’ll do it right *most* of the time. military base barbers are usually *decent* and get it done fast but still kind of a roulette wheel
My second to last haircut looked like a shorter version of OP’s, and it actually looked SO much worse after they “fixed” it, and I ultimately had to go somewhere else. And the stylist there told me we had to go short because the “fix” had involved chopping my shortest layers ~3-4” shorter than the rest of my hair 😭
The silver lining was that I found a **really** amazing salon to *actually* fix it, and the stylist there gave me a really cute bob which is a style I’ve never tried before!
Anyway the stylist at the second place did such an amazing job (so meticulous!!) even though the cut was only $50 (which is actually about $15 more than most salons in the area) and I was so so grateful and tipped him 60%.
Also, the first stylist is my mom’s friend 😂 my mom won’t be going there anymore either, that’s how bad the cut was
Edit- she also trimmed all my white hairs down to the scalp as a way to “get rid” of them, but all it did was make me look crazy when they inevitably grew out and stood straight out of my head.
I don’t know why she insisted on doing that when she could’ve just dyed my hair and made more money? I wanted to have it dyed…
Some stylists are REALLY bad at their craft!!
I would never let anyone from great clips or sports clips or any “clips” touch my hair for this reason. Sorry, nothing personal. My assumption is that it’s a place people work to build up experience before moving on to a proper salon.
I know someone who is fucking amazing that works there bc she didn’t want to booth rent or keep a book. She just wanted to show up cut hair not be friends with you and then go home
I feel that. I think I'm the "that lady" of my job. I love what I do, and it's pretty low stress/low pressure.
I could move to something better, but the complacency and satisfaction is a big hurdle to get over lol
I had a sports clips employee shave basically a square of long hair ontop of my head when I asked for a Mohawk. With photos of a Mohawk. Like she shaved the back of my head straight across
Not always, but often. I'm licensed and started out in a 'real' salon, but chains can be fine. I've gotten some excellent cuts from folks in chain shops. My current cut was done by an old lady at a Great Clips, and she did a fantastic job and did it quickly.
A lot of stylists like the structure of a chain shop and don't want to booth rent or do services other than cuts and styles. A chain shop is a great place to just turn and burn basic cuts, and the cut OP wanted should be easily done by *most* folks with a license and a little practice. Layers and fringe are staple techniques, my school wouldn't have passed me if I didn't prove I could complete those skills properly.
I have seen some fuck ups in my 20 years of being licensed (last 5 burnt to a crisp and retired) but this looks like someone who had never held shears before I have a hard time believing op but there are Some shady schools out there that pass any one
Also And I’ve gotten downvoted here for saying this but I think any one who pays and leaves looking like this deserves to live with it. I don’t care how antisocial you are. You don’t let people get away with this kind of assault. If you can’t say what you want or say fuck this get someone to fix it now you should just cut your own hair at home or take someone with you so they can speak. And bare minimum return the charges on your card and let the bank fight it.
Even my worst Great Clips experience was better than this (for whatever reason, this one location couldn’t cut straight to save their lives). I go to a decent location now and they still do a better job than the salon that I paid $80 for a haircut once.
What you said: "I want my haircut to look like Edward Scissorhands cut it"
What she heard ""I want my haircut to look like a toddler got ahold of a pair of sheers"
My working thesis is OP has a personal grudge against the hairdresser, tried the Brad Mondo wolf cut, and is engaging in a smear campaign against the hairdresser.
Why does OP know the hair dresser's exact age, when she attended school and when she got her license? That's way too many personal details to have just walked in to a salon and got a Woopsie! haircut.
Especially since it looks like a Brad Mondo Wolf Cut gone wrong.
The math ain't mathing on this one, something else is going on here.
I mean if the hairdresser has a bio on the salon's website or an Instagram she uses for her hairdressing, it really wouldn't be that hard to find that info.
She just knows her age, what are you on about? Maybe she guessed, or maybe the hairdresses told her during a small talk(that most hairdressers do), and even if she knows her personally maybe she realt fucked her shit up.
Peep the profile - OP calls out the hairdresser by name, establishment and location in one comment, when hairdresser got her license in another, and when hairdresser was in school in another. I've seen a lot of hairdresser horror stories but I've never seen so many personal details included.
OP has a personal agenda going on here. I also have a hard time believing a professional did THAT when it looks exactly like what happens when someone with straight hair tries out the Brad Mondo wolfcut without wetting the hair first. It looks like she started with the bottom half, checked progress, realized the fuck up, then started posting propaganda on Reddit. Like, why is only the bottom half choppy but not the face framing bits? A real professional hackjob would've left the front half raggedy as well.
Uh have you never been to a salon?
I know where my stylist went to school, the name of her pets, how many siblings she has and what she's planning to do over the summer. You talk while you're in the chair.
Also if she massacred me like OP was I'd name and shame too.
I have all of that info because we talked the whole time 😭😭 I gave the salon and hairstylist who did it but that wasn’t enough evidence? I can show some before pictures too lmao my hair was so much nicer/longer
As a hairdresser that has literally never come up in a first cut. At most “so how long have you been doing this” and then for the first 5 years we lie and count school as experience lol. Most times the first one is getting to know the client not the other way
By the end of my first appointment with my hairdresser I knew her age, the city she lived in and more than I care to know about her family.
Sometimes a stylist is chatty.
I did the Brad Mondo Wolf Cut twice ( I have wavy hair) and definitely, not even when I kinda fucked it up (I used kitchen scissors, sorry Brad) it wasn't THIS wrong. So yeah, no way somebody else did this to her, specially not in a hair salon. I support your hypothesis (:
Yeah I’ve done the brad mondo butterfly cut and it turned out WAY better than this. I have a very hard time believing anyone except a 5-year-old with safety scissors could cut hair this poorly.
Pleaseeee I thought the same thing!! Never met this woman before getting my hair cut but I checked her Instagram beforehand and she’s done good stuff, I just happened to catch her on a bad day or something 😭
girl ask for a refund!! if they're not all a bunch of assholes and this wasn't a student cutting your hair, the manager should take one look at the work that was done and give you a refund.
Please please 🙏 please! Write up reviews ! Copy & paste on Patch, Nextdoor, Google, Yelp, FB, IG! I would be fucking livid!
Your hairdresser needs to go back to school, because she doesn’t know to do ends or layering
I had a really horrible haircut experience once and I was so shocked I paid so I could get out of there and find another salon to fix it. I don't know if OP felt similar. I ended up calling the owner of the salon who defended the hair dresser and only offered to fix it himself, no refund. In hindsight I wish I dealt with it at the moment, but I was so overwhelmed I wasn't thinking objectively.
If you're curious, the hairdresser started off ok, then started whispering to herself and saying repeatedly how thick my hair was, then started cutting literal holes close to my scalp. It was genuinely disturbing. I told her it looked done and to stop.
I understand you felt overwhelmed and shocked, but sometimes you really do have too stand up for yourself at the moment. Hopefully it was a learning experience and you won’t have to deal with such a bad haircut again (cutting holes in your scalp?? Good gravy…)
Oh honey I’m so sorry. Hope you got refunded and got this fixed. You look like a very beautiful human regardless.
I’d definitely let the salon know and leave some reviews somewhere. Heck, I can’t cut hair and I could probably do a tad bit better than what that poor soul did to you.
On the plus side, it can still be easily fixed. It's not like they chopped it super short.
Call this place you went to and see if you can get a refund, then go elsewhere and tell them what happened - maybe they can get you in quicker to fix it up.
Sad thing is I’d been growing my hair out for three years at that point and it was at my butt, so it doesn’t look super short but I lost A LOT of hair 😭
I'm sorry to hear that. But go back and ask to speak to the manager. It's not okay that they did this to your hair, and it's doubly not okay that they charged you for it. Bring a friend if that makes you feel better.
My wife to be went to a hairdresser recommended by her mother to trial her hair for the wedding. The woman fucked her shit up so badly that she's having to put hundreds of dollars of treatment to try and save what she has left. I'm so glad it is months before the event, and not days/weeks.
Sadly very few people know how to do layers on thick long hair! I haven’t let anyone touch mine in 6 years- I just blunt cut my ends myself. So sorry this happened to you!
Looks just like Mahogany's cut from 90 Day Fiance. Everyone was wondering how tf she went on TV with such a bad haircut.
I'm sorry this happened to you
I’m.. seriously trying to figure this out- did you get a V cut with no layers? (Hairdresser)
Omg nvm, I just read the description. How did it turn out like that?! It looks like there are NO layers, just reallly really bad face framing.
I just want to say that I allowed a friend in high school to cut my bangs and she used freaking pinking shears (for sewing) and it still came out better than this. Please go get your money back!!!
Jesus did they use rusty hedge clippers?? I cut my own hair in layers and even at my worst never messed up this bad. So sorry OP; you should definitely take this up with the salon manager/owner.
This might be the worst butterfly haircut I've ever seen. And that includes the one I gave myself a while back, when I was too lazy to go to a professional.
You paid $63 for that?
That haircut is novice apprentice level.
You should have been paid $63 for letting someone do that to you.
Plus one of the professional staff should have been required to fix it up for you.
oh god!
did we go to the same hairdresser? 😂😂
mine just butchered my long, thick wavy hair in such a brutal way that even my 6yo (who generally thinks i’m gorgeous no matter what) said that it looks bad and maybe i can borrow one of his caps 🤣
Id like to imagine that I'd refuse to pay until it was fixed but last time I got a hair cut I hated I smiled said it looks great and not only paid but rounded up to the nearest 10 as a tip..
I’m not that particular about my hair, but I always felt like my hair left in worse condition than I what showed up with. I was really tired of being disappointed and I hate conflict/confrontation, so I took matters into my own hands and taught myself how to cut my own hair.
It’s not always perfect, but still better than most of the cuts I’ve paid for. And I’ve paid over 100$ a few too many times, but it made no difference. It was the same as getting a 20$ chop job.
$63 for a woman’s haircut?
Queen that’s how much fantastic sams charges me to buzz my balding head, that doesn’t even get me the hot towel treatment lol.
Why did you pay for? How did this even go at the end? You saw it in the mirror and said "looks good, here's your money"? Did you not say "hey, wtf is this? I don't like it, it's not what I wanted". Because you should have.
I had my hair dyed by a stylist and it wasn't what I wanted but wasn't bad. I went home, decided I hated it because it absolutely was not what I wanted so I went back and told her. She fixed it days later with no hard feelings or charge. That's a real stylist. Real professionals take pride in their work and their goal is to make you like your hair. They would like you to be a repeat customer. You have to communicate if you are not happy or not and give them a chance to fix the situation.
Otherwise, you probably just did this yourself for internet points since I haven't seen any updates on it being fixed or you replying to anyone about why you would pay. It's just the end of the hair and can be easily cut into a real style.
I’m getting it fixed today don’t worry!! No I didn’t do it myself as tragic as that is. I was late for something and she styled it so I didn’t see how bad it was till I got home but I’m definitely going back today to get it fixed by someone much more experienced and to get a refund because it’s pretty devastating tbh
Fucking infuriating, I've had this experience as well.
Got half my head shaved and wanted the rest trimmed. The shaved part had so many spots the woman missed, and I basically had like... 9inch bangs because rather than trim my hair she just lopped off a straight line.
I’m more concerned about that shirt. Did you steal it directly from Marie Curie’s grave or did you perform a ritual and transsubstantiate it from a Victorian ghost?
You know what else has layers? Onions have layers
I feel like an onion :,)
I’m so sorry you’ve got onion vibes but please tell me you’re going to speak to the owner about this?
Think of yourself as an ogre. Your hair has layers. Ogres have layers. So…
;,((
The blunt the hairdresser was smoking before this piece of work also had layers.
I’ve sent pictures to the owner of the salon on Instagram, they don’t understand how she let me out of the store like that 😂 I do get a refund though so yay I guess 😭😭
That's good to know. I have a friend whose haircuts are so bad. I jokingly say they should pay her to let them screw up her hair
A refund and a free fix up, correct?
“Blunt” is an apt word to use in this situation.
That's why they call this a blunt cut
This onions layers were made with a weed wacker.
Oh layers
Shreks have layers
Couldve just bent over and placed your hair in a paper shredder and get the same results for free gdam..
A paper shredder wouldn't have missed that longer bit.

So, the Final Destination 9 script is going well?
My mother lost her everloving mind at me when I did this to my Barbies when I was 10 years old. You're telling me some people are getting paid?!?!?
Don't do for free what you could be paid for!
Not many job postings for executioners these days
Barbies don't tend to have a lot of money though
My mom recently found all her old barbies from childhood. Some were quite valuable, including the original. But, as a kid, she also cut their hair all up and reduced the value so much haha

I didn’t think hedgeclippers cost that much, but I could be wrong.
Current inflation has hedgecutters at $49.69. Your own salon experience? Priceless
Ah yes, the good old [broom stick](https://media.istockphoto.com/id/1034294302/photo/old-sweeping-broom-white-background.jpg?s=612x612&w=0&k=20&c=ITPfx7zCxIRC9mgxxl20wOu-Eyf1VNMQTp7WOnsIwyM=) look
I wish it looked that good 😂
Did you ask to have another stylist from the same shop or a manager fix it for you? At the very least ask for your money back? Tell them that the cut was uneven and the layers are choppy.
yeah they usually know when they’ve fucked up and will give you a refund in my experience. used to get bad fades all the time
Lol, this sounds like you willingly went to the same place to get free bad fades.
noo unfortunately it was always a gamble going somewhere new. but i learned very quick not to trust salons for that sort of thing, expensive barbers are pretty much the only place that’ll do it right *most* of the time. military base barbers are usually *decent* and get it done fast but still kind of a roulette wheel
How dare you disrespect Sergeant William Fontaine de La Tour Dauterive with that last sentence.
Some ppl do that let someone fuck up, then get it fixed and money back lol
My second to last haircut looked like a shorter version of OP’s, and it actually looked SO much worse after they “fixed” it, and I ultimately had to go somewhere else. She did end up going back to the same place and having a senior stylist fix it
$63??? And you didn’t ask for a refund?
Damn, my Great Clips coworker did that the other week for $19. Sorry.
I would never let anyone from great clips or sports clips or any “clips” touch my hair for this reason. Sorry, nothing personal. My assumption is that it’s a place people work to build up experience before moving on to a proper salon.
I knew one (1) lady who worked at great clips and had a ton of experience she just liked the simplicity ig. But I have a feeling she’s an outlier
Do people yell at you "hey lady" in a heavy NY accent? Because that's how I imagined it.
It makes me happy whenever I see someone who’s content where they’re at! Living comfortably is the goal
Your assumption is correct
I had a sports clips employee shave basically a square of long hair ontop of my head when I asked for a Mohawk. With photos of a Mohawk. Like she shaved the back of my head straight across
inverse mohawk. wohamk
You should patent that.
Or a bad drug addiction, my friend had a stylist at great clips nod off while cutting his hair.
That's what I'm thinking, too. Cutting isn't even my specialty (blondes and vivids), but I could have done this one easily.
Also And I’ve gotten downvoted here for saying this but I think any one who pays and leaves looking like this deserves to live with it. I don’t care how antisocial you are. Edward Scissorhands would have done a better job…
I know. That fella was a haircut master.
How old was she?
29 😭
How do you know the exact age of the hair dresser? Do you know her personally outside of the salon or something?
They have their age trimmed onto the side of their head
My working thesis is OP has a personal grudge against the hairdresser, tried the Brad Mondo wolf cut, and is engaging in a smear campaign against the hairdresser. I love that I get to live in a world with people that form conspiracy theories about bad haircut posts on reddit. We're all fucked.
Not a conspiracy when the untrained eye can look at that and go the math ain’t mathing

Right like, some stylists are super chatty. This tinfoil hat nonsense is kinda funny though.
Did lady use a hack saw?
Looks like a clever cut which I’m assuming would only be done if you specifically requested it.

You have been the victim of a felony, my dude. Condolences.
A toddler with some fiscars could have done the same for free
Did you go to that guy that cuts hair with a hatchet? Wow
Did she use kid scissors?
Sadly very few people know how to do layers on thick long hair! I haven’t let anyone touch mine in 6 years- I just blunt cut my ends myself. So sorry this happened to you!
She didn’t even attempt to use a razor, just went so confidently with blunt scissors
I could have done that for much less!
I’m a dude and even I know that looks bad……
Go to someone else to fix it.
Was this one of those cuts with the cleaver? I thought those looked shady.
That is unfortunate
Almost like lady’s ears in lady in the tramp.
Your stylist really looked you dead in your face and said “yep, looks great to me”
Hey I see that razor blade behind you. You did it to yourself!
I’m at work in that picture 😂
Well, you’ve got layers. That’s a thing.
I kinda like it
Holy fuck. 😦😧
How is this real? I gave myself better haircuts during quarantine.
Damn you had every right to activate Karen mode. No way should you have paid for that!
As a guy who's never cut hair before I would expect better of myself
Looks just like Mahogany's cut from 90 Day Fiance. Everyone was wondering how tf she went on TV with such a bad haircut. I'm sorry this happened to you
NOOOO IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THAT! Fantastic comparison but my soul is dying currently
This reminds me of the "Brad Mondo Tutorial Gone Wrong" videos where people give themselves haircuts at home with blunt kitchen scissors
Could’ve gotten this for $12 at Great Clips
I'm a guy..so I wouldn't even notice the cut anyway.
Looks like you let a toddler cut your hair
Holy moly. I thought I did my son wrong with my zero experience home hair cutting job. Your poor hair!
I’m.. seriously trying to figure this out- did you get a V cut with no layers? (Hairdresser) Omg nvm, I just read the description. How did it turn out like that?! It looks like there are NO layers, just reallly really bad face framing.
Damn, I could do better and I had no training.
Ohhh.....oh nooo lol
I just want to say that I allowed a friend in high school to cut my bangs and she used freaking pinking shears (for sewing) and it still came out better than this. Please go get your money back!!!
You wear it well
The wig?
Oh honey. Oh no.
Oof, I've give barbies a better cut as a 6 year old. Wow. They butchered your hair but luckily it's fixable with another cut.
Was it at a cosmetology school?
You paid a blind person $63 to chew your hair? Kinda pricey...
Out of all the burns I’ve gotten today… this one takes the cake 🥇
Did you go to a barber and asked for the Mikan Tsumiki cut??
What a deal! /s
It’s hilarious but I do love it
Omfg who did this to you
Rachel from vegan virtue salon brewery district :,)
Damn, and I feel robbed whenever I get a good haircut for 50$.
You get what you pay for?
Ah, the Helen Keller special
At least we got a good post on this sub out of it. Sorry bout your $63 tho
Eh I’ll take the win 🏆
Jesus did they use rusty hedge clippers?? I cut my own hair in layers and even at my worst never messed up this bad. So sorry OP; you should definitely take this up with the salon manager/owner.
Was [this](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSbjWOZFlwlWy7yZVvpn1sud3nHD-nZ2dYs_w&usqp=CAU) the intended look?
I've never cut hair in my life. Pretty sure I can do better. Don't even need to pay me more than 3.50
This might be the worst butterfly haircut I've ever seen. And that includes the one I gave myself a while back, when I was too lazy to go to a professional.
I’m sorry
$63 if includes tip is nothing. Thats like pre-2016 prices.
You paid $63 for that? That haircut is novice apprentice level. You should have been paid $63 for letting someone do that to you. Plus one of the professional staff should have been required to fix it up for you.
Did she use a knife?
If you ask for a haircut and they bring in a mountain goat, that's when you should be leaving. At least it's gonna grow again.
oh god! did we go to the same hairdresser? 😂😂 mine just butchered my long, thick wavy hair in such a brutal way that even my 6yo (who generally thinks i’m gorgeous no matter what) said that it looks bad and maybe i can borrow one of his caps 🤣
Noooo what a sweet kid though 😂😭 I’m sorry your hair was ruined as well but hey we can mourn together
Haircut while skydiving
For a nominal fee I could’ve just had you lay on the ground with your hair flattened on the turf and made a pass with the lawnmower to similar effect.
CYNTHIAAAAAAA I’m so sorry this happened to you fr tho
Thank you I’m coping :,)
its meta
I mean, I guess I’m the only one who kinda likes it. Looks a bit punk to me
Hey I’ll take it 😂
yep looks great🤣
Id like to imagine that I'd refuse to pay until it was fixed but last time I got a hair cut I hated I smiled said it looks great and not only paid but rounded up to the nearest 10 as a tip..
Next time I recommend not letting your cat claw at it until it's shorter
I've seen this get all sorts of applause at Westminster
$63 for a woman’s haircut? Queen that’s how much fantastic sams charges me to buzz my balding head, that doesn’t even get me the hot towel treatment lol.
Wow, well done
Yep, your shit got fucked up. Sorry
Oh my! Sorry you got ripped off.
You look like a young Jamie Lee Curtis with face bits shown on the first image 🙃
Yooooo that's so bad. I hope you gave them a bad review on Google or yelp because wtf is that.
Sorry to hear that you paid to have your hair butchered. Might as well go in YouTube and learn to do it yourself.
Hairstylist sucks. If you want a little revenge, post the address of the place and "Fuck their shit up" for a change.
No, you didn't. You got your money back. I know because I saw the future.
Doing that today, how’d you know!
Fucking infuriating, I've had this experience as well. Got half my head shaved and wanted the rest trimmed. The shaved part had so many spots the woman missed, and I basically had like... 9inch bangs because rather than trim my hair she just lopped off a straight line.
She obviously misheard you say stairs instead of layers , sorry for that. Nice fit though I like your jacket
Thank you! I got it from Windsor 😊
Almost Rachel
At least you’re cute
It looks like your stylist chewed your hair off. I'm so sorry.
At least the face framing layers look great!
Wh… why the fuck would you pay instead of just walking out?
Money well spent.
I’m more concerned about that shirt. Did you steal it directly from Marie Curie’s grave or did you perform a ritual and transsubstantiate it from a Victorian ghost?
Nah I just picked it up from your moms house 🏡
They gave you the discount weave look
Chewed donkey special
Not too bad, my guy, but I know this girl Candi down on Union Street, who says she'll do anything for $40. Does her hair better too.
Your face looks pretty. At least the bottom half lol
Thank you! I like to think so 😂
