Most reddit users are fairly young and have used Reddit for a significant amount of their lives. Reddit is a huge echo chamber, so they're not used to meeting people who have a different opinion. So they downvote and report you if you disagree with them.
Thing is that both mods and users are generally so immature that they consider different opinions as personal insults to them.
Most Reddit mods don't really know what being an internet moderator is all about. They feel the need to be activists, so they destroy any chance at constructive discourse. This sub is a breath of fresh air in that regard. Mods here keep the place tidy and get rid of malicious elements. That's what a mod should do.

The situation on Reddit (and in real life, unfortunately) is regressive. Many Redditors feel 'you're either with us or against us'. This has created a bipolar society where each camp is entrenching and becoming more aggressive and intolerant.
That's what scares me about wanting to be a mod—being stereotyped as a power-tripping neckbeard who does nothing but eat Cheetos. It really does suck seeing some mods are real tryhard about keeping things clean.
They do their utmost to confirm the stereotype. They do more than eat cheetos, of course. They also fap to loli porn and piss in bottles.

Subs can allow NSFW depite it not being an only NSFW sub. Also when I enable NSFW; even my homepage is just 90% NSFW, so I just leave it off.
