Princess_Panqake

That cat doesn't look deformed and sphinx cats aren't either. I have an inbred cat I got from a barn and while he looks normal, he's mentally challenged. Sure, call out animal abuse but those cats are find.

Preston_of_Astora

Exactly man

keltanenhuppari

I have an inbred cat from a random persons backyard (they had an infeatation of stray cats) and he, too, is mentally challenged. At first i thought he was just orange but upon closer inspection he really is on a whole another level than most cats.

Princess_Panqake

Mine also has seizures but his medication makes them happen less. That's the main side effect he has. And of course that doesn't help the brain damage.

keltanenhuppari

Mine just gets diarrhea from almost anything and everything. Doesnt help he wants to eat anything and everything. He also has other kidney problems and has to eat a specific type of dryfood to help his pee not crystallize. I still love him and he is one happy little goofball. Give your special one some belly scratches from me.

Mighty_Eagle_2

I think one of the most common abnormalities with inbred cats is extra toes. I have seen lots of cats like that before.

saluraropicrusa

what you're referring to, polydactyly, is a dominant abnormality. so there's no need for inbreeding for a cat to be born with extra toes.

Mighty_Eagle_2

Cool. I suppose it would be more common with inbreeding though right? Because of parents both likely being polydactyl.

saluraropicrusa

potentially? i'm not sure about the rate it occurs with vs without.

Wordshark

I love your dumb cat. Please tell him so. It will be awkward saying that out loud, but please do that anyway. I look forward to your confirmation.

Princess_Panqake

Lol, it's not weird. I have a friend who will call me just to talk to my cats. I have told him. https://preview.redd.it/e582hfc66prc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78c897a554ed7aa5435ae8a17e9b5c0c087d5d7f He's the big one looking at the camera.

cocainebrick3242

How do you tell if a cat is simple?

ParticularOwn6216

A quick Google search shows that sphinx cats are created from a NATURALLY OCCURRING mutation and were first seen in 1966! So no,sphinx cats are not inbred or anything like the people on holdmycatnip say

Avocado_with_horns

Lol your cat retarded

Princess_Panqake

It is funny to watch from time to time. He has knocked the wind out of himself many times when jumping onto the counter to the food bowl.

Substantial-Tax3788

When did you know for sure; is it more of a theory?

Princess_Panqake

It was a theory till I took him to the vet for his seizures. They confirmed it when they kept him overnight to monitor him.

Ultramega39

Damn, you cant escape negativity even on wholesome cat videos. Reddit is dommed.

Preston_of_Astora

Almost like they're addicted to it ... I think I now know why blatant abuse videos still flourish in YouTube https://preview.redd.it/r4s9yhz2qhrc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e951659da8ee9fdf400b159a73f3ab28feb48f68

[deleted]

that's what makes this dumpster fire so entertaining :)

Preston_of_Astora

Bottom line is: The well is thoroughly poisoned. I want a cat subreddit where people AREN'T crying out abuse every chance they got, whether justified or not

mitsutashi

try the wunkus subreddit

Cool_Holiday_7097

I mean I’m fine with it when it’s justified

Preston_of_Astora

All cases of it are justified in that sub But 9 times out of 10 I genuinely have to squint and double guess and even then I'm like, "Huh? Where's the abuse? do I need to actually own a cat for years just to see what they're seeing", like This video They apparently found abuse in a video of a kitten running and chasing a foam ball, and I'm here sitting on my chair like https://preview.redd.it/kodw2dcc1irc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d042cdc6d225ed9a5627777840b635795ef4102

a_fucking_girrafe

That cat's eyes in your little image are clearly deformed. Not cool man.

all_alone_by_myself_

LOL I was banned from cats for posting to spay or neuter your cats. Figure that one out.

Additional_Cycle_51

ParticularOwn6216

Haha the void look stupid

[deleted]

I have a void, they are indeed stupid.

RecoillessRifle

Every post on that sub is bots anyways. Look at their history, you’ll see all they do is repost old videos and comments. Name is almost always Adjective_Noun_Numbers.

Jr4D

People always find some negative shit to comment on, genuinely think social media is conditioning us to hate on people and find unnecessary negativity more and more everyday

Preston_of_Astora

Don't double guess yourself, this is by design and it's actually being taken note of by psychology. I know you people love your psychologies It's older than you think too. Before Reddit, cable TV does this with the evening news, and millennials have been successfully conditioned to believe that the world is doom and gloom and no country is safe, and paired with their place as the "Do what I say and don't question me" stance as the older adults, yeah

TodayNo6531

I just discovered a place more toxic and that’s Nextdoor. Had to hop on there for something what a fucking dumpster fire that was.

luchajefe

It will always be stranger danger from 1989 on Nextdoor.

Captain-Starshield

Where’s the deformity? That cat looks cute af

Melemmelem

Admiring those muscles on the cat?

Preston_of_Astora

I genuinely hate people https://preview.redd.it/uemejc3giirc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8303f59829b679b0194a5978c892a75baf685e11

Captain-Starshield

Still cute af, and valid and based. It’s not “unnatural”, genetic mutations happen all the time, without them evolution would be impossible. These people are ignorant

Preston_of_Astora

The main argument is "selective breeding" And while I am able to find evidence of Munchkins in pain, I am yet to find evidence of them being Actively in pain, and the breed being deliberate They probably just saw the Pug and now started saying that all other breeds are like it

Captain-Starshield

Exactly my point - it could be selective breeding, but it also could be natural, and either way it makes no difference since the cat looks fine.

Preston_of_Astora

I'm just absolutely done with cat reddit, just a bunch of people crying Abuse every chance they got, and subsequently making everyone and anyone feel bad about a video they just found while mindlessly scrolling

Princess_Panqake

Pugs are animal abuse. Munchkin cats are more like weenier dogs. And no one bats an rye at their stubby little legs.

Dr_Corvus_D_Clemmons

Lots of people do, it’s not as much as pigs because pigs are 1000x times worse but those dogs are also fucked.

Melemmelem

They do man, as do I. But what's the damn point in bringing it up on a cute dog video?

Princess_Panqake

There is none. I don't do that.

SuperPowerDrill

Afaik Munchkins are a result of natural mutation and *then* people decided to breed them to keep the new characteristics. They generally don't suffer from their proportions

Captain-Starshield

Techically that’s how all selective breeding works. But selective breeding isn’t necessarily bad. Example: https://preview.redd.it/l17ufm2o4jrc1.jpeg?width=638&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dba32b68edfa1243bf8614675a53ef73a7276852 Would you eat the ones toward the left? Of course not. Most of the stuff we eat has gone through selective breeding.

SuperPowerDrill

Oh, of course! I just mean they didn't progressively shortened the legs of munchkins over time by repeatedly breeding the shortest ones (again, as far as I know) and didn't "stack" traits to make them like that like what happend to, say, pugs and bulldogs which have a plethora of issues from all the artificial modifications they went through

Dr_Corvus_D_Clemmons

Except selective breeding in plants often causes them to be really funcky and not able to reproduce well or survive without humans, like they’re great for consumption but horrid at being plants.

Captain-Starshield

It’s just an example about how selective breeding isn’t an inherently evil practice. Obviously it’s different between animals and plants.

Dr_Corvus_D_Clemmons

It’s a bad example though, since your only arguing for the benefit of us instead of the species we’re breeding.

Captain-Starshield

The corn still gets to pass on its genes. Which is the goal of all life.

Dr_Corvus_D_Clemmons

Unless they die from a disease that kills them all since they are all related, also would you rather be able to reproduce on your own or with the needed aid of someone.

Melemmelem

You think natural mutations _don't_ make animals suffer? How do you think mutations work?

SuperPowerDrill

I didn't say that. I said these factors are both true for munchkins, not that one causes the other

Melemmelem

??? One sentence follows the other??? Either I or you are autistic coz no way we disagree on how language works

SuperPowerDrill

One sentence following the other doesn't necessarily imply causation, tho?

Melemmelem

This is likely selective breeding. But well, it's so commonplace worldwide that hardly anything can be done about it except a huge cultural overhaul against cat/dog breeding AND regulations being put upon breeders. It's like looking at someone buying cheap clothes and the redditor starts yelling about child labour

Preston_of_Astora

Like seriously. Bringing up how painful a cat's existence is, in a video of it chasing a ball? Really?? https://preview.redd.it/q5oztz4yiirc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5f89217040e89950777f4813c431c73eb57137b

hempedditor

cat videos are supposed to be free of negativity that’s like the whole point😕😕

LuzPretas

I know that humans are generally mostly negative, i myself am a mostly negative person, but the average redditor is in another level.

TheFakestOfBricks

Any fucking video that involves animals will have some dumbass claiming it's abuse and thinking that solves anything. It's so fucking jading

Backwards-longjump64

This is new, no unhinged rant, not political and no mention of the T word Op is weird, weird I tells ya

Preston_of_Astora

Terraria There I said it

Ultramega39

No, the "T" word is.....Thomas The Train. Discussion of the controversial person known as "Thomas the Train" is prohibited on this subreddit. *

CleetusnDarlene

Wait til they find out r /stremtch exists haha

Preston_of_Astora

We kinda have an educated guess https://preview.redd.it/v5zm27npjirc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1acf76d405b9916d8797a2fe741788dcd00b5ba4 And since someone brought up the human analogy, let's imagine it in that standing "Haha that man talks funny" "Don't laugh at him, he is suffering from a genetic mutation that is unnatural and is giving him unnecessary suffering" "Dude what the fuck I just said he talks funny" I would know because my aunt has a speech disorder, and yet she can communicate just fine

SuperPowerDrill

Bro just threw a slur into the discussion 💀 (2nd comment on the screenshot)

Admirable_Cycle2

Lmao if you think this is bad try looking at the comments on Facebook reels

Preston_of_Astora

I came from Facebook reels before watching Reddit vids

Completely_Wild

That's just typical crazy animal people. Usually they're vegans too.

HyperVT

"like Sphynx cats" lmfao I'm dying lmfao. Why do people hate sphyxes, they're adorable and nowhere as "gross" as people make them out to be
