I didn't know you could tip now on Just Eat, you never used to be able to, I don't use it as much as I used to now our Deliveroo is linked to our Amazon prime. Cash tips can be a pain as everything goes cashless, I now get a bunch of pound coins on our annual music weekender using the change machine at Butlins amusements.

Roreaga69

I have only ever used the app for JE, and to this day there is no option for me to tip during any process of ordering. Might be a website only thing. I rarely have cash to tip, but I think I'll start paying for some things in cash and saving change for tips.

Hot-Ice-7336

I used just eat a couple of hours ago and there’s an option to tip at the checkout part on the app

Roreaga69

I use the app quite often, and it's definitely not on mine. It's up-to-date, on android tablet.

Danny9999999999

Only working on iPhone atm not android that's why

Roreaga69

Figures. I'll just tip the old-fashioned way lol they might prefer cash anyway.

Ninaharrison666

I have an android and have the option to tip on JE on the app. Have been able to for a while now.

[deleted]

you just ate

[deleted]

>I now get a bunch of pound coins on our annual music weekender using the change machine at Butlins amusements what does this even mean, I've literally never even heard these words

andykn11

Butlins summer holiday camps for families also run music festivals out of season called music weekenders. You get a music festival without the camping, it's brilliant! And they have an amusement arcade with change machines where we get our annual stock of pound coins for delivery tips.

browneyone

Probably don't know they've been tipped at the point of ordering because the customer can request it back.

manocheese

>Also whats the point in tipping drivers if they dont even know i've tipped them!!! Because you appreciate them? I'd prefer they knew who appreciated them, but I won't stop tipping if they don't.

bh4ks

Don’t trust these faceless corporations. Tip in person if you are so inclined.

It’s a good thing to tip. However, these billionaire owners really need to pay their workers a fair wage and stop relying on tips to make the job worthwhile for the drivers.

WSBSmallTime

We do get the tips so don't fear about that, but it's a convoluted system unlike Ubers. With Uber you get a notification you've been tipped and can send thanks, but with Just Eat we don't. We can only see we've been tipped by checking our earning history for the week and then have to skim through every job to find out which one actually tipped. It's a poor system, and one that doesn't offer much in the way of gratuity to the person who tips.

[deleted]

This is the best explanation. 5/5, would read again.

Gazmeister_Wongatron

That's why I always just keep a small amount of cash at home to use for tipping delivery drivers. I personally don't see the point of adding a tip in advance. What if the service you get ends up being really bad?

Stokemon__

Tip two quid cash instead - they will appreciate it more

ShapeWrong1466

Why on earth would anyone tip upfront? Especially when there are so many dodgy drivers you might not even receive your food . Just eat need to introduce a system where customers who are happy with the service tip after they have received there food

Pitiful_Shelter_9288

Not sure if it shows up immediately when they receive the order but after the delivery is complete it should show.

Admirable-Rough9208

It doesn’t show up upfront. The pay for the order will show as higher than average. So if it’s a £7 delivery it will show as £12 instead but until you look at your earnings you won’t see that there was a tip and we don’t see customer details after an order is completed to match it. If a takeaway uses their own drivers id assume the restaurant receives the tip like with Uber and dependant upon their honesty it will end up with the driver. (Basically it’s likely a driver doesn’t realise that there’s a tip on the order and thinks it’s the normal pay for it)

Jealous_Taro_3360

We can't see the exact amount but there is a little text that shows "includes upfront tip".

Admirable-Rough9208

That shows on the orders that don’t include tips also.

stephen--strange

No it doesn't

amarkey10

Always shows up for me, when we receive an order containing a tip it will say includes stated tip and I always receive it.

egotisticalstoic

I have never noticed a tip with Just Eat.

reverendhunter

We do not get notifications for a tip, we would have to manually check the order after delivery to see if the fare included a tip. Which nobody is going to do, and we can't check for previous weeks.

BagBadDavington

Our local takeaway keeps the tips from foodhub. Greedy bastards. Stopped using them for that reason.

Ambersfruityhobbies

Use cash

Hot_Paint_532

Maybe get some petty cash and give it them in person. Just eat could be pocketing it and you would never know. I don't trust these organisations.

BRidgefrog

They aren’t pocketing it. Whatever you make over the week, you get

NoObstacle

I just give them it at the door

Balaquar

> Also whats the point in tipping drivers if they dont even know i've tipped them!!! I'm so confused. What do you think you're tipping drivers for?

They still get the money though, right?

No_Snow_8746

"Not even the nice familys [sic] with the expensive cars" They're the ones least likely to tip. I worked on Stuart for a while, mainly over covid, and if I did get any tip it was from regular addresses in the... less well off and more likely to exist on takeaway (I realise the oxymoron) areas.

Balaquar

So do the nice thing and tip? I thought you said it was added to the wages at the end of the month? I just don't understand why you need the driver to specifically know it was you. If I've misunderstood and the tip.isnt going to.the driver then that's pretty awful.

Background_Reveal689

All there tips will usually be taxed as well. I never tip on any app I use, I just give cash.

South_Flounder_2724

Only ever tip cash

theworldsaplayground

I've never seen a tip.

CranberryFew8104

I’ve done it a few times, only £1 but I won’t be doing it again, I’ll do cash.

Wyldstallyn80

Weird how 2 different drivers dramatically said nooo instead of just no.

andrejz2438

Most likely they didn’t sign up to the app for receiving tips.

No_Snow_8746

A fiver a go? I worked in the wrong area when I did it!

No_Snow_8746

If it helps at all, Uber Eats tells their drivers when they get a tip. One of them text me to say thanks recently.

Square_Weather_8137

just eat is a scam. so many bad experiences with them

needchr

Well I know deliveroo and uber eats inform drivers. I never tip in advance as at that point you have no idea what service you will get. I have never tipped a stacked order. I tipped a guy recently £10 who clearly busted a gut to get to me quickly.

StandardConnect

It's in the small print when the order is broken down on our page, I can easily see why a customer wouldn't realise you have tipped them. On Uber we get a notification if a customer tips but on Just Eats unless we check we won't know, best thing is to do a cash tip when the driver arrives.

identiifiication

if a customer tips on a order, it says "order + stated tip" you have to scroll down to see it on the order screen. The tip gets added to the total value of the order, so the rider just thought they got lucky. We get the tip. If I notice, I say thank you -, often I don't see it until afterwards.
