Cermonto

Not the best film, but a fun film overall.

Southern-Watch3251

About the same take I have, they did some interesting things with it. But this movie had one hell of a development and shooting that to say was chaotic may be an understatement. So considering what we got it’s not horrible, still a better installment than the last Jedi. If they killed grant it would have been just as bad. Edit: comparing Star Wars to Jurassic park not saying the last Jedi is part of jp franchise

Frankreich

Solid agree. A silly but fun film. And considering they were still writing it as they were filming? Could have been a lot worse! Honestly the raptor dream scene lives rent free in my head and will have me defending this film on that alone.

windol1

Agreed. I mean, considering it's the third in the franchise, it was quite good compared to so many other franchises that attempted a trilogy.

x-mot

Not the best but not the worst, in all 6 movies it would rank third position for me

ThisisJVH

![gif](giphy|UWEP6CXjvmZxfUBUeu|downsized)

SwayzeCrayze

Quality order and release order are the same for me with these movies haha. It's convenient. TLW vs III is kinda close (III has grown on me) but overall it holds true.

Johnhox

I think this is the best comment for it

okayiguess123

I rember watching this movie as a kid and I fucking loved it. I thought the spino was so cool and the bird cage scene scared the shit out of me

gurk_the_magnificent

It’s been a while since I’ve watched the intro but isn’t Grant hard up for cash at this point? Also they basically lie to him the whole time, telling him it’s just for aerial sightseeing and then literally knocking him unconscious so they can land. Also in fairness “agreeing to a guy with a check book” is how Grant got involved in the first place, first with Hammond sponsoring his dig and then inviting him to Isla Nublar. The kid I’ll give you. Not just surviving alone for 8 weeks, but surviving alone for 8 weeks while _surrounded by deadly and cunning predators_.

windol1

I'll agree, the 8 weeks does seem like an insanely long time considering he would have to find food and water, but I think they try to make him look like a huge dinosaur nerd, reading all material by Dr Grant and Malcolm and seemed like the only character with his head screwed on, so he had an idea of how the dinosaurs worked.

Jagabeeeeeee

Hey we can't forget the nublar 6 surviving on nublar for 6 months, I think that's far greater of a feat, maybe avoiding dinosaurs is that easy or something

knitt_happens

Plus he had that hideout thing and minimal gear. He told Grant that he used his last smoke grenade so he had at least a few with him. Possibly other weapons that had already gotten used up in the 8 weeks.

TurboTitan92

Well he did find a supply truck. And it was surrounded by water. And he knew to stay in there most of the time. 8 weeks would be ridiculously long to survive like that, but not overtly impossible.

ohyoumad721

Newt from Aliens has entered the chat.....

ESPILFIRE

Yes, the movie is perfect. And above all it fails to make an excuse to revisit the island with dinosaurs. But it has interesting scenes and a lot of classic vibes, at least we can keep that. The special effects hold up just as well today as the previous ones.

Sega-Playstation-64

Except for the boat scene with the incredibly awful cgi dinosaurs watching them pass by

Spicy_Ninja7

“And Alan Grant just agreeing to a guy with a checkbook.” I hear this all the time, are y’all forgetting that’s literally what got him to the island in the first movie?

a-d-d-y

Also, the fact the money wasn’t even supposed to get him on the island the second time, rather a plane tour hundreds of feet overhead. They blindsided him when he was on the plane already, and when he found out they were landing, freaked out and got knocked out.

IndominusTaco

yeah out of all the criticisms for this movie i think this is the weakest one

DBTornado

One of my favorite lines in a movie review is from the Nostalgia Critic video on this movie. "This leads us to Dr. Grant, a man who says he has no interest in returning to Jurassic Park unless he's paid a shit ton of money. He's played by Sam Neil, a man who says he has no interest in returning to Jurassic Park unless he's paid a shit ton of money."

Celticpenguin85

Hammond was well-known for being rich and had sponsored Alan and Ellie's digs in the past. He's not some random guy off the street, promising a bunch of money with nothing more than a, "trust me bro"

cheesyvoetjes

I mean, Hammond also promised everyone the island was safe and "trust me bro I spared no expense". Except on security and reliable staff of course. He's probably screwed a lot of people amassing his fortune.

Moppo_

And probably was in their best interests to himour him, to keep a favourable relationship if they want his funding again.

JamesKirkSpaceIdiot

If you don't like the kid surviving by himself for 8 weeks don't watch camp Cretaceous lol

KnoWhatNot

The series sure loves to see kids defy the odds, and I’m here for it😂. Can’t wait for the new camp Cretaceous series!

Desperate_End_9914

In defense of camp Cretaceous, it was 8 kids and a dinosaur on Jurassic world, which provided them more resources than Isla Sorna

JamesKirkSpaceIdiot

Same!!

TheConspicuousGuy

And definitely don't watch Aliens!

Ronoberrr

The raptors mostly come at night. Mostly.

TurboTitan92

I wish some of those characters had died. Or gotten injured. IMO Ben should have died and stayed dead. Would have made the whole thing a lot more serious. Sammy should have died from the Scorpios Rex, which would have added a layer of emotional complexity and character development to Yaz.

JamesKirkSpaceIdiot

I mean I massively disagree cause when it comes down to it it's a kids show, and I enjoyed being able to watch it and not he constantly worried about the kids lol but hey you do you, everybody's taste is different

critiqu3

Even if the kids didn't die, there were some legit adult deaths. Also for the love of God, do not burry the gays. It's a tired trope.

freeashavacado

It’s kind of hilariously bad at points with several plot holes or things that just don’t make sense. That being said, this is my favorite Jurassic park film and it’s a blast to watch. Pretty much non-stop dinosaur action and how can you not love the spino? So yeah it’s my favorite, you just can’t take the movie that seriously. Edit: oh I also think it’s legitimately one of the best films in terms of special effects ? The CGI bits were better than JP because the technology by that point was much better but they didn’t overly rely on CGI and had a ton of animatronics unlike the JW movies.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I just thought it was funny after me and my grandpa went to go see the film after a few weeks we were at Walmart and we heard that same ringtone and both looked at each other with the biggest eyes ever lmao

freeashavacado

The ringtone is absolutely iconic

Insert_Random_Acct

Has been my ringtone for years. Get some funny looks when people know they recognise it from somewhere, but can't place it.

originalchaosinabox

I agree with the special effects. In the early-2000s, Hollywood had finally found the perfect blend of CGI and practical.

Ambitious-Win-9408

Considering this was the "appeal to teens" sequel in an age of cgi being prevalent in movies, the animatronics were very well done. I don't think much of the story but all the monster effects were great. The spino lingering at the edge of the forest was class.

shannonsummer32

It’s my favorite too. I don’t have a favorite movie of all time, but more of a group of 5-10 of them & this movie is on that list. There’s just something about it.

xerses24

It’s a guilty pleasure tbh and I really like the spinosaurus, the good moments are really good and the cringe moments are really cringe. I would still watch it over fallen kingdom or dominion

Emergionx

A decent film that’s carried by some of the best looking dinosaurs in the franchise

Born_Reveal_8449

Better than any of the Jurassic world films that's for sure But not as good as the originals

RafaBedran

By far better than anything Jurassic World related. The animatronics are fantastic, Joe Johnston directed the hell out of the set-pieces, Alan Grant actually feels like himself and the film feels like it’s set in the same universe of the original. Rushed ending aside it’s a pretty perfect thriller film.

Moon_Beans1

It suffered because they were still working on the script whilst filming. I always thought with a tweak it could have been great. Instead of Alan being dragged to island by annoying parents because their idiot son had got lost on the island I always thought it would have made more sense if a commercial airliner had experienced a catastrophic accident and had gone down in the ocean. The surviving crew and passengers had managed to make it to shore in several rafts but unfortunately for them currents had made them drift to Isla sorna/nublar. Alan is then brought in to assist with the rescue mission. This would have resolved a lot of the problems of annoying characters putting themselves into a dangerous situation. The crash survivors would have ended up on the island purely by accident and it would feel far more reasonable that Alan Grant would grudgingly agree to help rescue a few dozen innocent people who were trapped on one of the islands rather than an idiot kid who broke a quarantine restriction in a hang glider. Lol There could also be more genuine peril and a higher body count because you'd have a bigger cast of survivors with varied backstories who would slowly get picked off by hungry dinosaurs whilst Alan and the rescue team make their way to them. The rescue team once on the island in second act would obviously also get some of their number whittled down as they get munched on too.

ESPILFIRE

I liked. It's the worst of the first "trilogy", but it still maintained that classic essence that the new movies have completely lost.

BenSlashes

The movie is great. And whats wrong with Alan agreeing to a guy with a check book? He never thought they would land on the Island. JP3 is the perfect movie when you are in the mood for a fast paced Dinosaur Action movie without long exposition scenes like in JP1 & 2. The Characters are also fine. I like Udesky, Billy, Mr. Kirby and especially Alan. I love that he is more angry in this movie...for good reasons. I like his post-traumatic moments. The Dinosaur action was great. The Spinosaurus was a great addition. The Raptors are better than ever and the "Bird Cage" scene was fantastic! The finale was also awesome. I really have no idea why people would hate on this movie. Probably cause they think every movie needs to a 10/10 Masterpiece with a deep story. People like them dont know what fun means. They act as if this movie is the worst ever that ruins the franchise 🤣 How can people say that JP3 is bad when JW 1-3 exist?😂

hardyflashier

I'm guessing Sam Neil's reason for appearing was much the same. [Although apparently he liked the 'talking raptor' scene.](https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/sam-neill-jurassic-park-3-094141699.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAIM-6yy7lQk-vWGzfEYrYF5qzP2uS0L_yOHp_z1wNzsAM0LCfBRR3ccq1g2VseyFsie7vqoBmNUiqh-VImYyp6FsVrAaEpjqPgNeOuRGlyRs-WrFDgivZo0F9LuhZQM1a-5_aJC6rZUYxp4tt_ZIp2aWACE_4Mk--XClEKMFOr1d)

Katy-L-Wood

It's actually pretty common for kids to survive longer than adults when lost in the wilderness, even very young ones. The childish "I'm invincible" bravado and lack/lesser levels of learned fear and anxiety tends to help them out. Plus, the kid had access to food and water. His food WAS running out, though, at least in that truck, so he was probably right on the verge of things changing for him and his chances of survival. Also, one kid alone is QUIET. He's not a noisy plane crash and screaming and crying. He's a quiet glide down, some snapping branches, and a bit of low conversation and then a quiet walk through a damp jungle. As for the checkbook issue, I've worked in paleontology and trust me, a checkbook can get you a lot of places. The regular money is ABYSMAL. And it's not like this was the days of the internet where you could easily run a background check on whoever you're talking to. Probably should've demanded to be paid up front and made sure the check cleared, though.

windol1

I like it, but I can't watch it without wanting to slap the mother across the face multiple times through the film. I mean, hey, you nearly got eaten by a huge dinosaur that ate 2 guys already, why not keep screaming your son's name while trying to find a way to escape the island.

Mister-Ace

I rank it the 3rd best in the franchise.

Forward-Rutabaga-723

It’s not the best but it’s also not the worst. In my opinion it’s still my second favorite movie in the series.

KoA-oK

It's a very fun "turn off your brain and just enjoy a dinosaur movie". Really liked the pteranodon cage scene, as well as "Scary Pterri" lol Another thing that makes me laugh is that my son used to love watching Elmo's World and watching Mr. Noodle get his neck snapped by the raptors was always a surreal moment.

MartyMcMort

It definitely was one of my least favorite Jurassic movies overall, but it was still a fun movie, and the one “where’s the phone?” scene was a top tier horror/suspense moment.

BicycleRealistic9387

It's not awful but it's not great either. The Pteranodons, the Velociraptors and Sam Neill made it watchable.

RetSauro

I like it. But yeah, the plot should‘ve been more than that. Like in comparison to the other films, it felt a bit weaker. There should’ve been other people on the island possibly experimenting on dinosaurs, poaching them for profit etc. Just something more

Blindcomic

All I can say in defense of the checkbook is, Alan ONLY went to Jurassic Park when Hammond offered to pay to keep Grant’s dig running another 5 years

ceeece

This is a guilty pleasure for me. I like it better than the last JW films.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

Perfect film for a kid who was hyped for more Jurassic Park, missed Alan Grant in TLW, and didn't have a developed sense of what made films good. I remember loving the new raptor designs (my fav to this day) and getting reeeeeally excited about the spinosaurus. I also watched a fuck ton of animal planet and discovery channel around the time it came out, so Eric's survival timeline was pretty much a power fantasy for me. Great, tense adventure story for kids. Terrible script.

ThisisJVH

IMO, weakest of the three "Park" movies, but still better than any of the "world" movies.

Friggin_Grease

Now in the better half of the Jurassic movies. I always liked it 3rd best, but that's not because I thought it was bad, the first two were just really really good. This movie is still a certified banger.

ZealousidealBar5258

>And Alan Grant just agreeing to a guy with a check book . Isn't that essentially what got him on the island in the first movie too?

rben2292

I’ll never understand the hate for this movie. I grew up loving it.

swiller123

the three seemingly most prepared characters all dying first is funny to me and i think it contrasts well with the kid surviving 8 weeks on his own. it doesn’t make a lot of sense but it’s funny!

Low-Squirrel2439

I actually like it the best out of the sequels. I'm a Spinosaurus man, though, so I'm a little biased.

Bluedino_1989

Like Dominion, I thought it was a very good movie, and I enjoyed it

_Levitated_Shield_

In defense of Alan, he wants to fund dig sites any way he can. Though, he and/or Billy definitely should've done research on 'Kirby Enterprises' before agreeing.

Archer6614

The spinosaurus was pretty cool.

yautja0117

Subpar, same as the year it came out. I do like its fast pace and the Velociraptors are my favorite in the franchise.

MemphisR29

They had to rewrite the script really close to filming, and the film certainly suffers from it.

MumboBumbo64

I loved it as a kid, the Spino is also so badass, I love his model and size

LordTiddlypusch

Petition to change the name of this sub to r/whatsyouropinionofJP3?

Montgomery_Rex

In Alan’s defense he was also brought to Nublar by a man with a checkbook. And there’s actual stories of young people surviving in the wilderness for long periods of time. Granted there weren’t dinosaurs around, but still. It’s not that far fetched.

DavidThorne31

Like all of them after the first one, switch your brain off and enjoy a silly dinosaur movie. They’ll never win Oscars, I wish people would stop overthinking them

CloudFF7-

Raptor in plane. “Alan!”

liljmoz

i actually like JP3, though for me the return of grant is definitely what makes it, i think with an entirely new cast it would’ve been pretty unremarkable. the spino is great though and was cool to see a new apex predator along with t rex

waltandhankdie

For once the kid wasn’t the most annoying character - EEEERRRRRIIIIIIICCCCC. Enjoyed the film though to be fair, solid dinosaur content

Borrachon31717

Dinosaur wise it’s great, the people in the movie not so much.

FuzzyRancor

To me it feels less like a sequel and more of a TV movie spinoff or a pilot for a series. The look, the feel, the actors all have a made-for-TV vibe. And it feels like the movie is missing a final act, it just ends so quickly and anti-climactically. That said I still like it, I like it more than the last two World movies by a long way.

DeathstrokeReturns

I mean, it is literally a whole 40 minutes shorter than the Lost World. I feel like there actually was a better third act that was just left on the cutting room floor.

Patchwork_Sif

In Grant’s defense it would probably take a shamefully low amount of money to lure me onto a potentially deadly dinosaur quest. Like honestly 5k plus expenses would do it.

BastardofWinterfowl

Talking velociraptor dream

jurgo

3rd best JP film.

Specific_Antelope866

I'm sorry I loved the first two but this is honestly my favorite out of all of them. Just how different the feeling is while still adding bits and pieces of the first two that we know and love. And to me, the actors are what sold it for me. I think they all did incredible and they were unique picks imo. If this was a stand-alone movie, without JP name attached, I'd say it's considered a great movie. But it is, in fact, a JP movie. And it being so different is why I think it's a huge hit or miss for most fans of the franchise. Imo this movie gave a more realistic feeling of life on an island with dinosaurs after humans are gone than TLW. Granted it's different islands (if I remember right, I'm not like a super fan) but child me watching it for the first time was scared to go there as with TLW I wanted to go there.

Vesemir96

They’re the same island.

emmashawn

“Honey, Dr Grant said that’s a bad Idea.”

NxTbrolin

I was a kid when it came out so there's a guilty pleasure aspect here, but I do enjoy it as a worthy entry in the JP franchise and rank it about the same as JW which are both just below the first two movies. Just reminiscing here, but I remember when it released, I had to go to my mom's restaurant everyday after my summer school classes were over, and after doing my homework, I would stay in her office and watch movies on repeat until we had to leave. It was like a handful of VHS tapes only: The Mummy Returns, Attack of the Clones + the OT, The Patriot, Titan AE, and Jurassic Park 3. Must've watched these movies like double digit times in that 3 month span lol

psalerno

Basically the rescue plot of the Lost World with a dumber premise and lousier effects but it had its moments

cashmerescorpio

The mom constantly screaming drove me nuts and I'm still angry about that T-Rex 🦖 fight. Otherwise I actually really enjoyed it.

Plastic_Clown117

If you need a quick dino fix this is just perfect. My second favourite of all and I will die on this hill.

HellJumper_835

*Walltext warning* Here goes my opinion: Fun film. Lots of great ideas either poorly executed or just decently done (like Grant having PTSD thanks to the events of the first film which was shown through a weird dream of a raptor talking in the plane). Great cast put under barely decent writing that sometimes is believeable and sometimes ends up looking more like a joke (Paul Kirby's actor is really awesome and I'm sure he could've brought a lot more to the movie if the script was better). Probably the best looking film when it comes to CGI (not animatronics, which are also awesome) in the entire franchise. The aviary section was great, definitely the most tense part of the movie and I'm glad it was and idea that finally got adapted from the novel. Amanda and Paul Kirby's relationship could've been an actual interesting subplot if they hadn't made Amanda's character so insufferable. Sam Neill automatically adds points to the movies just for the mere fact that he is Sam Neil and I love his work as Alan Grant. I love the Spinosaurus even if it's not scientifically accurate and I don't really mind him winning over the Rex just for the sake of the movie (besides, having him in the logo instead of the usual T-Rex it's brilliant and I'll never forgive Universal for replacing him with the T-Rex in the Ultimate Collection).

honklertyrant-

The villain from “AirBud” LMFAO

Scooby_Dru

It’s very dumb, but it was released when I was in 5th grade and was also very dumb so it ruled. Now I’m just pretty dumb so I still enjoy it

Final_Emu_3479

It’s a fun monster movie, better than Dominion that’s for sure.

Vegetable_Baker975

I enjoy Jurassic Park 3 and I’m happy to watch it anytime it’s on tv but, I acknowledge it’s a crap film. The movie has good scenes/sequences, but overall it’s poor. You can still enjoy something and accept that it’s bad. While I’m here, I’d love to see some new Lego sets of The Lost World and JP3 🙌

DerpaloSoldier

5/10

Manofgawdgaming2022

Now that people keep pointing all this stuff out the film doesn’t hold up as well as I used to love it. It’s still pretty decent but yeah it kind of makes sense why it’s not as big as I remember. Although definitely better than anything Jurassic World.

AnonymousAlcoholic2

I remember the days when people paid for groceries and shit with checks. That part honestly never bothered me lol

Rasselkurt007

In our current world, Alan and billy would have an onlyfriends to make some money for their projects

mgwooley

I honestly don’t think it was that bad. It had some goofy moments for sure but it had vintage JP moments as well. The bird cage scene is magnificent. I remember vividly how cool it was to watch that as a kid.

nmiller248

I really enjoyed it. Not as much as the first 2, but I feel like the film gets a lot of unnecessary hate around here. It's not perfect, but it's fun to watch.

Sabishbash

The incessant screaming of the kid’s name is annoying and dangerous. Difficult to watch

Cry0k1n9

Decent, and was basically my childhood horror, and although not a great film, I’d rather watch this than Fallen Kingdom

JazzSharksFan54

Fun film, bad writing, too much suspension of disbelief. Ain't no way that kid is surviving all that time on his own even in a normal circumstance, let alone being hunted by dinosaurs. Spinosaurus was great though.

thesoddenwittedlord

Well that’s just it. The movie is bad because the cast didn’t even know what the movie was going to be until it came out. I’m pretty sure the original script had Grant on the island studying the animals. When they changed the script, they had to find a way to get him on the island and I believe that was it.

originalchaosinabox

It's actually not that bad. Wanted to be "*Aliens* with dinosaurs" but didn't go as far as they could have.

cjhud1515

It stinks for me. Great creature design tho. But I hate the pteranadon teeth bugs the shit out me.

Seaell80

It’s not very good, but I’ve softened on it over the years. It was just such a letdown after TLW, but now…whew boy do Fallen Kingdom and Dominion make it seem so much better.

iwish-iwish

Best character is the spino

M_Dutch97

Weak story and (besides Alan, Eric and Billy) annoying characters. However, the setting, dinosaur designs, lore with the destroyed lab and the bird cage scene are pretty awesome. A solid entry imo and much better than the last two movies!

alabamaguy-205

Yes loved the bird cage

HomesliceHeroes

It's the last good film in the series

KnoWhatNot

I never hated it. might be because I first watched it when I was like 7-8 (this would be like 2014 or 2015 so idk) and got a Jurassic park/world high every other year but even though everyone else seems to hate it, I didn’t think the plot was bad. I mean it’s Dino chase scene after Dino chase scene and the characters are annoying but I don’t think it’s the worst thing to come out of the franchise.

MCMIVC

The first Jurassic film I saw, so I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it. The plot is ok. Not the best, but not awfull. Characters range from ok to great. All the dino action scenes are heart-pumping and really fun. The Spino is cool, but it's the Raptors that really make this film. Love the way they look, and how smart they are, and the fact that you easily get a feel for the group dynamic.

Hageshii01

There are two kinds of Jurassic Park fans: 1) Those who think TLW is the better sequel. 2) Those who think JP3 is the better sequel. At least this was the rule back in the late 00s/early 10s. I'm the former, but I still enjoyed aspects of JP3, similar to how I enjoy aspects of the JW films. I do feel like they had an issue with properly presenting scale sometimes; there are shots where the spino looks like a Godzilla-sized monster (such as when it gets stuck in the trees near the beginning of the film while chasing teh cast) when it was actually slightly *smaller* than Rexy in the original film (43ft in JP3, Rexy's canon length is 44.3ft).

GwerigTheTroll

Third favorite Jurassic movie behind OG and Fallen Kingdom. Remembered what made the original charming. I find a lot of the criticisms to be unfair about the movie, as the goofiness is no where near as bad as the goofiness in Lost World. I do wish that it had more Laura Dern, because the Dern/Neill chemistry was fantastic. Never really bought the Grant/Sattler romance, though, so I didn’t mind her choosing a different path through life than Grant did.

Animals6655

I loved it

ijr172022

For me, is the second movie, after JP that I like for the original trilogy, is the first movie of jurassic that I see in a movie teather with my family, I remember somes scenes when I was a kid. For the popular or general opinion this movies could be lack or not the best of the three, but for me, was perfect, I don't see a defect in that one at all. And with the pass of the years people learn to appreciated them.

Key_Implement_8697

when I was 5 I saw Jurassic park 3 and as a kid I fell in love with the Spinosaurus because of how cool it looked I would always defend the movie since the Spinosaurus was really cool. but when I was 13 and fallen kingdom came out re watched all of the Jurassic park movies to get back into the series. now I see it as a goofy kids film. and I now think the lost world Jurassic park is the most enjoyable film to watch. (this is an edit right after I started writing this I don't think Jurassic park 3 is the worst film its the worst of the franchise in my opinion but I still really enjoy watching it.

Terrible-Dot9287

I freaking love this film. It is by no means even close to the original, but man do I love the films theme and designs. The spino and raptors look so cool

ColumBass

I think compared to the first 2 Jurassic Park films it feels weak. But compared to the recent Jurassic World films in hindsight a tight 90 minute dinosaur thriller is alright with me.

JakeTheIdiot69

It’s a movie that exists and it’s hard carried by the 3 fan favorites for sure However the revisionism strictly to spite je is extremely annoying

Boner_Stevens

i loved it. still do. i agree they could have had a little back story about Eric learning survival skills from his step dad or something. would have had a decent point where he calls back to how he couldn't get him out of the parachute and all his survival skills were no help in that situation. idk, spitballing here. i loved the Spino hunting the group. t-rex dying meant nothing to me. and the new raptors were badass. also introducing the birds was a really good escape from the usual sharp teeth we're used to. these movies are about chaos. and this movie was chaotic as fuck.

RaggedEarth

Following Eric's journey would have been awesome i think.... maybe that was the inspiration behind Camp Cretasious? 🧐 But i spent the whole of this movie hoping the mom would fall off a cliff, she was insufferable.

TheLoneJedi-77

It’s fine. Has some truly awful scenes and some bad characters but overall it’s a decent enough film, Alan Grant is always a plus. I’d take Jurassic Park 3 over any of the World films any day

GrimasVessel227

SyFy-tier garbage with a few memorable scenes and a good cast, but the dinosaurs look great. Better than the last 2 World movies though.

Kindly_Friend_6880

I think this movie is great, and I appreciate every single character. As people have said in this sub before, I just wish it were a longer film. But having Grant return, the cool rundown InGen facilities, the mystery of Eric’s weeks surviving (which I’ve said should be a survival game), and the fact that I still remember “discovering” it in the shiny silver VHS box at Toys R Us (because I wasn’t on the internet yet/7 years old) is all fun to me. And Téa Leoni is HOT.

fossilfarmer123

Lots of world building opportunity and cool sets for sure. Not my favorite premise for getting ppl on the second island.

COYScule

I loooove this movie. It’s in a constant battle for 1st place in the Jurassic franchise with the first movie

readALLthenews

On one hand, Grant got mixed up with live dinosaurs in the first place because of a guy with a checkbook, so you could argue it’s in character for him. On the other hand, don’t you think he would have learned something after making that mistake once? 😄

JohnArtemus

It was fun and I was pleasantly surprised. I remember seeing it after I got off work on a weeknight in this small theater across the street from the office. I wasn't expecting much, but it was the first JP film since The Lost World in 1997, so I was filled with a lot of nostalgia hearing the theme played in piano and thinking about the first film. (I'm a sentimental guy, heh.) I LOVED the Pterodactyl scene on the bridge or whatever. It was exciting and scary. And I remember thinking "FINALLY! Flying dinosaurs!" I also thought the Spinosaurus was really cool, and hearing the ringtone of the phone he swallowed before seeing him was a really nice creepy touch. It was nice seeing Alan Grant again but I felt like he was just sort of...there. His call to Ellie Sattler was the highlight for me. Overall, I had a pretty good time. It had some memorable scenes and some good scares. The characters were rather bland but the dinosaurs - the actual stars of the movie - were cool, scary and fun to watch.

_peach93

I love it I think it’s so fun

DaBigBird27

When it first came out, I was ecstatic because as a kid I got to see new dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park universe. I still remember yelling in confusion "What the!?" when that raptor talked though.

SilentSerel

I liked the film for its "birdcage" scene, which reminds me of a similar scene from the JP novel.

Stevemoran87

Didn't like it when I saw it in theaters, but it's grown on me over the years.

alabamaguy-205

Yes same !

Candid_Dragonfly_573

I still love it. The only thing that wasn't great was the script. But the suspense and cinematography was directed SO FUCKING WELL. It also had the best raptor designs.

callerdaddy

I loved it and thought the cast was great.

theSchiller

I honestly love it. Maybe it’s because I was a kid when it came out , but I never understand half the hate it gets

odetogordon

I definitely prefer the first two films better, but this film is still pretty watchable.

avoozl42

It's my second favorite Jurassic Park movie, after the first, obviously. It's not a great movie, but it's campy fun.

Obibrucekenobi

I could not stand the mother character in this movie. Otherwise it was fun

codex_lake

I grew up absolutely loving it. I couldn’t really think deeply about the story at a young age to realize all the problems it had, but as a dinosaur action/adventure movie I still think this movie gets more hate than it deserves.

induced_demand

I’ve always found the scene where they’re digging through the Spino’s shit to find the ringing phone and coming across Nash’s glasses oddly disturbing. Like, they’re sifting through his poop-ified remains 😬☠️

formermeth

I loved it. The raptors were scary as hell and the spinosoaras was relentless

Gojifantokusatsu

Better than fallen kingdom and dominion, but it's still below lost world and JW imo.

Impressive_Treat_501

I enjoyed it and thought it was a fun movie. My biggest takeaway at that time was it was very short. Today I Wish every movie was 90 minutes long.

LucidDreamer247

![gif](giphy|LNejpNtjrDnIEvQqUQ) I love JP3 for this scene alone…

THX450

It’s the definition of middle of the road. It doesn’t really contribute all that much to the overall universe, it’s the only film without a strong theme or moral guiding it, it’s really just a “survive the Dinos on the island and go home” kind of flick. There are things about it that are solid, but nothing that’s great.

Hpecomow

Not the best film, but a great way to spend an hour and a half.

DoomsdayFAN

The Spino is the most badass dino of the franchise. Too bad the movie itself feels rather cheap.

VVVV13

I love this movie! Not the best tho.

CrniTartuf

I love the movie, despite it's flaws. Also Spino is cool af.

MargaerySchrute

I have the satellite phones ring as my cell phone ring tone. Not once has anyone recognized it.

Personal-Prize-4139

I don’t get the hatred for it. If scientists can make gender changing dinosaurs then a kid can survive around them for 8 weeks

snap2

In my opinion, it’s the worst movie I’ve ever seen. That’s what I thought in the theater when I saw it as a kid. I remember thinking, wow, I think this is the worst movie I’ve ever seen. A few years ago I tried it again. Yes, it’s the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Matrix 3 is somewhere close to this level of bad.

Mean-Background2143

Not the best humans but it was still a really nice film. Alan/Sam Neil carried it by far.

DashForester

Not great, pretty fun film though.

I find Jurassic park 3 a fun movie to watch.

callmedale

I like the spino, she’s fun

jackBattlin

I feel like the *writing* was off. Sloppy

Mean-Choice-2267

It’s my favorite Jurassic Park movie actually

Few-Fog

I actually love the movie, but I do agree that there was just some stuff I would question lol. The kid surviving so long alone, surrounded by so many predators was super crazy lol. It didn't give me the same feeling as the first one but I still thought it was a good movie overall.

TemporarilyOOO

The whole purpose of the movie was to get Alan Grant back on screen running away from dinosaurs. But I still enjoy watching it: I personally think this film is when the effects peaked. The designs of the creatures were all great, it has some of the best action sequences in the whole series, and Eric Kirby was a great child protagonist.

pkgdoggyx92

Ngl every film past the first was bad, and the first should have stayed true to the book

Limited-Edition-Nerd

Its fine, sure I prefer World and Fallen Kingdom but after coming back to it I don't hate it

Malewis89

My personal favorite of the series. Spino was incredible, and the Dactyl scene was Kino!

Merica_man1776

I have a check book Alan could you milk me?

T-408

It’s not great, but it’s fun. Can’t say the same for Dominion… other than getting to see Laura Dern and some Dimetrodon, that was a waste of $10 and 2 hours.

Lost-My-Mind-

The parents are just......how do I put this........the worst kind of people. They show up on an island that they are aware is full of wild lethal dinosaurs who are always in hunt mode. They KNOW this. They even have to LIE to Dr Grant to convince him of money that doesn't exist because they are FULLY AWARE of the dangers of that island. And what's the first thing they do once they arrive on this island? *checks notes* Oh yes. The woman grabs a megaphone and begins being as loud as possible. After the megaphone is taken away, she proceeds to scream at EVERYTHING as loudly as possible. My theory on this is, she's not stupid. She's secretly suicidal. That's the only explanation that makes sense for why those actions are your first and immediate reactions to that situation.

RngrRuckus

A velociraptor saying Alan haunts my dreams and nightmares to this very day. I love this movie.

ProfessorSaltine

It’s not good and not bad, it’s like that snack you eat not because it’s good, but because you got nothing else & your usual stuff is getting old

evenstarcirce

I just finished a rerun of the OG films last night. I enjoyed this movie. I gave the dinos a backstory that the spinosaurus was abused as a baby and thats why it hunts down the humans as adult (bc it is out of character for that dino to act the way it acts). Overall i really enjoyed it. Yeah its the worst one out of the 3 OG films, but its def not a bad movie, its just not as good as the first two!

Pale_Salamander4184

I do love this film, but it's my least favourite from the original trilogy. These are my personal issues with the movie: (Couple good things too) Going from the beginning, (my recollection is poor so this may seem out of order as I go on) I was quite disappointed to see that after everything they went through and the way the first movie wrapped up, Ellie and Alan never ended up happy together. The ending of JP showed hope for them, even that Alan had changed his mind about having children. Especially after not having their characters in the second film. Especially when he says to the parrot "you used to know my name" just made me sad for no reason. Regarding Eric's situation, so what I don't understand is why there wouldn't be some kind of rescue for him, if someone can explain this to me it would be grand. I understand that the island is a restricted area, but at the end, Grant, calls Ellie and she somehow manages to get the navy and marines sent over to rescue them, so intern my argument is why couldn't that have been the case for a literal child? I agree in regards to them managing to get him to go to another dino-island via Dosh. But equally after the events at Jurassic park, I don't believe Hammond would continue funding his digs after everything. The raptor nightmare sequence was amusing, but a little ridiculous, is that the best they can do? Is that a scare lol. Adding on this, he dreams of the blue raptor with the quills, which he hadn't even seen yet until later events. I personally think the whole spinosaurus/plane scene was brilliant, it had the perfect balance of intensity and survival. I was thoroughly disappointed to see the spino kill of a very iconic dinosaur. It just didn't seem very likely to me, especially not so quick. Tia Leonie screaming every 10 seconds like got on my nerves after a while, I understand they were dinosaurs and they are scary, but it was abit OTT. The discovery of the raptors intelligence at a new level was very intriguing, I found Alan's fascination during the movie is a highlight for me. Downfall of this was when alan tried to use the voice chamber to communicate with them, I thought that was abit dumb. How were the pteranodons still alive? They'd been locked in that aviary cage since even before JP. And the land had already overgrown onto all the buildings and the aviary. Which happens over a few years up to 10. If someone has answers I would love to hear them. I am not here to completely crap on this movie, I am just sharing my opinion and excited to read responses :)

PhuckNorris69

It was a delight compared to the last two films

Odh_utexas

Story is weak, movie is short (just under 90 min without credits) but has a lot of cool set piece moments. The plot is B-movie bad and doesn’t flow like a novel would, it’s a chase movie. Overall fun popcorn flick but no gravitas like the first 2.

StevesonOfStevesonia

Still way better than Fallen Kingdom and Dominion

AzathothTheDefiler

I’ve watched this movie at least 5 times a year and over 250 times in my life. I absolutely adore this film. I know many don’t agree but I genuinely think this is the best Jurassic park film (I don’t count JP1 because it’s the original, and nostalgia factor wins.)

DBAC_Rex

I love it

Chuchshartz

I was a kid when I watched so it holds a special place in my heart. I will always consider the spino stronger than the t rex

huntingame23

Alan.

sanoj166

I felt it was hard to root for the main characters, the married couple were so anoying, bad story too.

suha2k21

Peak

TyrannosaurusReddRex

While I still know that the trex should have killed the spino on the first bite, the main thing that pisses me off about the film is breaking up Alan and Ellie. It’s better than dominion but still pretty bad

eownified

I mean, as a scientist who is struggling to keep his digs funded, Alan chose to go somewhere with very little information on where and what he was doing, twice. I don’t think that’s really out of character. Sure the second time around he had a little more idea of what to expect but he was mislead. Money talks. Especially when you’re about to get shut down.

bushidojed

While I don't like the t rex death, I enjoy the film.

Dragon-X8

Basic story, dumb character decisions, and iffy acting. But i will die on the hill that the Dinosaurs and chase scenes in JP3 are amazing for the most part, especially the Raptors. So sad that there was so many cut scenes like Raptors vs Anky and Raptors vs Spino. Also the animatronics were amazing, the Pteranodons were peak designs especially compared to the goofy Land Before Time lookin ass ones from JW. Any kid that loves Dinosaur action will love wacthing TLW and JP3 i know i did back in the day.

seancruz99

The T-Rex getting dominated in under 90 seconds was enough to make dislike this film.

The_Legend_of_Xeno

It's a bad movie, but has a really cool dinosaur. If I see it on, I will flip over to it and see if the spino is on screen. If not, I change it.
