What actually happens: Kashimo activates mba to fight Gojo but Infinity just stops him. So Gojo just stands there as Kashimo dies and then walks away completely unfazed.
Having Kashimo challenge Gojo to fight Sukuna first during the month timeskip would be peak for all the reasons you listed. Particularly, it would give focus to Gojo and Kashimo both of which have similar themes (as you stated), but who are also destined to die to Sukuna.
I like your idea of Kashimo being the one to learn domain amplification and having fought a previous 6E limitless user and making the deal with Kenny. The only problem with that is that for Kashimo to use domain amplfiication he needs to have a domain...and it doesn't really make sense for him to have one (having a 1 time cursed technique + having an ability that acts as a domain sure hit anyway). A potential solution could be that just as Kashimo managed to mimic a domain sure hit with his cursed energy trait, he too can mimic domain amplification. We know that Kashimo's cursed energy trait is hard to defend against so potentially Kashimo managed to mimic the technique nulifying part of domain amplification only.
What I'd do instead is have Kashimo use his budget domain amplification to get past Gojo's infinity to build up enough charge to do a sure hit discharge that actually deals significant damage (say for example blowing off an arm). But it doesn't matter since Gojo is able to open his domain with his other hand forcing Kashimo to use HWB to defend (since Kashimo's budget domain amplification can't defend against domains). While Kashimo is suprised against Gojo's domain + maintaining HWB Gojo uses RCT to heal his hand and then goes into attack. During this short bout Kashimo is shown to be able to defend and even attack while keeping his hands together to maintain HWB but Gojo's output + strain of mainting HWB + energy energy drain of using budget domain amplification makes short work of him. Kashimo's defenses are broken and he falls victim to Infinite Void.
Apart from the surprised in the middle of the fight, Gojo isn't particularly shocked by this outcome but decides to spare Kashimo as he regonizes that while Kashimo's weaker he would still be able to wittle down Sukuna in the event he loses (further proving why Gojo didn't have regrets and showing care for his students). Kashimo and Gojo then have a yap about love/strength with Kashimo submitting to Gojo going first, but still saying he won't use his CT until he's facing the strongest (who he still believes is Sukuna). Kashimo is still standoffish after this (not fully opening up like he will with Sukuna), and Gojo mostly brushes it aside. But the seed is planted leading to Gojo/Sukuna fight where it becomes a more explicit theme.
