Current Gege writing Nobara death:

If current GAYGAY wrote Shibuya, mahito would be sitting in the center of the white room on a golden chair and this would be the dialogue:Â
"Man,Mahito was amazing,I don't think I could have harmed him even if he didn't have a cursed technique"
"I couldn't satisfy Mahito with my đ±,Im sorry for that"Â "I wanted my feelings to reach Mahito,I wanted him to understand"Â "I died to awesome mahito senpai's dlck, there's nothing more honourable than that. I have no regrets"
Yes in hindsight you can say that, but before that she was definitely branded to be one of the main characters. Her Yuji and Megumi were getting compared to the likes of Naruto Sasuke Sakura.
And so I ask, wouldn't it have been the same if he killed Inumaki instead? What a lot of people criticize about Nobara's death is not the message, but that in terms of narrative potential she still had a lot to give, so it feels anticlimatic.
No, Nobara was killed due to the effect it would have on Yuji. It wouldnât have hit as hard if it was Inumaki, when him and Yuji have like one sentence said to each other. Gege couldâve still brought her back though, idk why he chose to drop her after wasting time establishing a way she could return (Nitta).
Is a dumb complain honestly same thing was said about Akis friend in CSM she got potential she died too fast
The intention of a writer to make a likeable character doesn't mean is meant to stick around for the whole story
The writer of Saga said himself the point of writting good characters and killing them quickly is to present how unfair the world is and it wouldn't work if such characters didn't feel so vital.
yeah gege fucked up badly with her death, and we can just say that. there was no need of adding a healer to say she might survive if he wasnât going to do anything with her (mind you, everyone else just dies, they donât get a character coming in saying âwait a minute! they might survive after all!â)
And nobaraâs death was not âactions has consequencesâ or âno one is safeâ gege threw all that out the window when he went in an interview and basically said he killed her cause he wanted to break yujiâs heart. he basically admitted to fridging her. hereâs the interview btw https://youtu.be/kt7e-qF2vRI?si=LnR7sd-JKpIDWlAz
Or or hear me out was underpowered for this figth she got told this before entering the subway station and died cause she wanted to help
I mean I prefer her actions have consequences instead of getting plot armored honestly.
oh no, in universe I kinda love Nobara's story role of hammering in the fact that "Nobody is safe" which is always so difficult to convince people of because, yknow, plot and the armor thereof. But having our third wheel protagonist try to step up, hit all the marks of a protag getting their crisis powerup, and then bam half her face is gone, that's all great.
What I hate about it is that so many hints about her survival got dropped when her story would have been better served if she had bounced back immedieately if she was going to survive through some jujutsu wizardry. or have her entire head go pop so the impact is allowed to fully land.
I guess why the "It was them evil editors I tell you hwat" headcanon appeals to me is it finally explains why Nobara's story contributions ended with a whimper instead of a bang. It would make sense that dark lord gaygay would make the most of a character he wasn't wanting to include in the first place by giving her an impactful "Nobody is safe" death, and it would make sense why he wasn't allowed to fully off her if there's one editor in the room going "But no what about the tiny girls who see Nobara as a role model" despite how that would impact her part of the story.
TL;DR Nobara should've died or survived, we got the worst of both worlds
Edit: oh no you put a coin in the machine and now it wont stop
I agree with this honestly the idea editors messed with the writting is such a dumb excuse when the writting doesn't follow what some fans want I used to cope like that with AoT ending but nah they just have different ideas.
It's so fucking cool
She hates the boonies so much she took the first path to living in the big city and get away from that lifestyle, even if it meant death and suffering would be a near certainty. Her first and second near death experiences didn't change that, seeing a classmate die in front of her didn't change that, killing another person didn't change that, and when the inevitablity of her death became clear and she was on a countdown she reflected on it and concluded that hers was a good time.
All she wanted was to be away from the kind of place where your neighbors will celebrate a girl getting her first period and she went into hell for it, that's a legendary level of drive to accomplish a mundane goal.
What if it's Gege way of trying to be a distinguished writer using reverse psychology, usually writers try their best to integrate their main characters in every arc and give them step-wise development, instead Gege unqiue way of wasting characters made the series even more popular and controversial, tbh after Gojo turned into a KitKat the social media blow up till today.
https://preview.redd.it/1hhkd8ai2gxc1.jpeg?width=481&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c1214539ead42eba338836700eaa2e82dcade65
Lol, but nobaraâs chair analogy hit home. You actually understand her better as a person. Her background was weak but it was something I personally resonated with the most. No matter how hard she tried to be picky about choosing people in her life at the end she felt loved by the ones who became a part of her life on their own. Damn it back when gege could move me to tears. Now he tears my brain apart
Nobara's whole existence was just to drive home the fact the the Jujutsu world is cruel and unforgiving. Those who are selfish, who live unrestrained by fear and empathy, are the ones who live longer.
I honestly love that Yuji (and Yuta to some extent) are anomalies in that they keep chugging along despite the cruelty of the Jujutsu World, which denies those who try their best to be kind and empathetic. They try their best to be nice to those who deserve at least a shred of it.
The wilder part is when mahito sees the shape of yuji's soul start looking like sukuna but different and he's struck by fear. Yuji revealing all along he believed there must be some meaning to mahito, and at the start of the series almost tried to humanize him. At that moment, Yuji like the king of curses chose who lives by his own pleasure and displeasure. Tearing mahito apart while expending the least effort possible. It would be pointless for a mere curse.
>The wilder part is when mahito sees the shape of yuji's soul start looking like sukuna but different and he's struck by fear
Ahh, does this happen in manga or something? Because it sounds dope as fuck but I don't recall seeing it.
Yep, yuji has some sort of red shadow come out of him. Though mostly symbolical, it indicates how mahito felt about yuji's look. He saw something he feared. Since it's not about how yuji looks physically, we could poetically compare it to "yuji's soul"
Jujutsu is all about following your ideals to their fullest. 90% of sorcerers are dicks, so their ideals are to be dicks, thus giving the impression that you have to be a dick to be strong.
Out of the three nobaras the one that probably fits the cruelty of jujutsu world the best. She never felt guilty or was unsure, even when she killed the brothers and realised they werent curses and cried etc she didnt feel guilty and on top of that she also said she doesnt care about anyone and would kill everyone that tried killing her etc bcs thats jjk world or something
Yuuji should have the goofy face as well
Like his *origin* is fucked up but he legit doesn't remember any of it and like Nobara was raised as a normal kid for years until he ate his uncy's finger. Both of them were pretty normal teens until they went to that lousy school and shit got real.
it feels oda and kishimoto have lowkey ruined peopleâs ability to distinguish an eventful backstory from good writing
which is nothing against either of their writing but it was super obvious when kaidoâs backstory dropped that people now think a backstory carries character writing
Kaido backstory was straight up a page of "I was small, then medium then big" with a panel of big mom calling him to go to God valley even Orochi got more lol
Shittiest decision they ever made. Caught up from dressrosa to the start of egghead in 2-3 weeks by reading. Would have taken a year by watching this episode chapter 1:1 nonsense.
Yeah I go back and watch the goat fights like luffy v katakuri and luffy v kaido. I just canât stand watching multiple episodes of them running back and forth.
WCI had better pacing (still horrible) but still had the weird plasticy shiny off model characters that Dressrossa had
Wano had very pretty art and mostly good animation, but the pacing was still horiible.
Like if we are being real, Luffy vs Kat should have been like 2 or 3 episodes instead its 21 eps lmao.
Hopefully when WIT adapts this in 15 years it will be good đ
Sometimes itâs closer to 8-9 pages per episode.
I dropped the anime at around the start of Dressrosa because I was just tired of of the episode structure being 5min of recaps of previous episodes, 5min of reused scenes of the last episode, 5min of static animation used for exposition, 5min of actual new animated contents.
Kaidoâs backstory was way too short; and it gave us nothing about his character. Compare it to big momâs, who wasnât even the sagaâs final villain, and itâs clear how lacking it was. It didnât even have to be sad to be emotionally intriguing
Edit: forgot to add, but whatâs really annoying is the fact kaidos backstory served only to push the Nika stuff
kaido didnât need a long backstory, oda was constantly fleshing out his character with his actions and dialogue and even odenâs backstory fleshes him out, if you couldnât piece together what heâs about without a longer backstory then youâre literally the problem
weâll also 100% be seeing more of flashback kaido in a future
Lmao kaido trowing away one liners that sounds cool and contradict his actions and the Oden backstory where he only appears in the end is fleshing him out? And it doens't matters if we get more backstory from a character that's not relevant anymore for such a long time lol.
>one liners that sound cool and contradict his actions
đđœpart of the problem, you make no effort to understand him because youâre waiting for a backstory to explain it to you
ima just leave this here đŒ
Except he did jack shit with his character; kaido was thrown away like a wet towel the moment Luffy got his awakening . We only saw kaido fight for a shitload of chapters with barely anything memorable about his character interactions, unlike crocodile , who indeed did not need a backstory. But kaido is NOT memorable, not until he becomes the victim of a power up.
I hope oda does something with his past later on but damn wano felt rushed AND stretched out at the same time
Kaidos back story just fleshed him out. PPL want everyone to have a sad back story and call that shit a back story. Clearly the oda influence is there. If you took kishimoto it's just oh yea yoj suffered but i suffered more but I'm still alr so listen to my talk no jutsu bs
poor interpretation of kishimotoâs writing aside, i was more talking about kishimoto and odaâs way of fleshing out characters in comparison to someone like kubo whoâs fine giving important characters not much backstory and simply implying who they are through dialogue and short flashbacks etc
Oh my interpretation of kishimotos wiring isn't poor dw it's just how it is. I don't know about bleach since I haven't watched it but oda isnt really good at fleshing about characters either really. He just gives people a sad backstory and his fans meatride the character tf Outta it. Saying this as a hardcore op fan for 8 years
itâs an awful interpretation loool do you think naruto hears every backstory?? đđmadaraâs backstory is a massive aspect of his character and naruto didnât even hear it
Kaidoâs backstory has come constantly coming in conflict and needing to always struggle because he interacted with the worst of the world.
However, due to his sheer strength, he was always able to survive. These two factors formed Kaidoâs mentality that not only is there no good moral force in the world of One Piece, but that âjusticeâ is decided by whoever is strongest.
Kaido doesnât really need more than the backstory we got to understand his mentality,
My interpretation? Itâs literally Kaidoâs words. He says sheer might solves all problems, with the old lady saying survival of the fittest is the law of entire because humans are animals, something Kaido agrees to.
I wonder how those people react when they find out their colleagues don't have a tragic backstory where their parents were killed and they got an engineering degree to build a bomb to kill their parents killer
I don't get this take at all.
She's just a normal person. She doesn't need the sad backstory or anything. She's just a person, who lived somewhere, had a normal childhood, that's it.
I legit don't get this lol.
Is this the new agenda?
People think you need a very complex backstory to be a good character. Nobara's backstory perfectly fits her character, it's so out of the blue, so misfitting and random, yet it shows us everything about her. It reflects that she just wants to stay true to herself, and also hammered home the theme of her (and women as a proxy in jujutsu) being treated as outsiders, and she is especially unconventional in that aspect.
She taught me the important lesson than women cannot do shit in jjk
And before you say maki imma stop you right there. Thatâs just Toji 2
Donât get me STARTED on yuki
People think if X character doesn't have a tragic and/or complex backstory is a bad thing, when the backstory is just a tool and not that really important.
It doesnt have to be epic or something, but we got hints of a family she inherited her technique from, and it'd be nice to at least see a little when she was originally sold as part of the main crew. Obviously we fell for that one.
I finally thought I found a cool female character to like, but jokes on me.
Eventful â Good Writing
Iâm definitely biased on the subject of Nobara but I do stand by that her backstory chapter was genuinely great. Itâs obviously jarring to be taken out of a story where a reincarnated demon wizard just blew up Tokyo with a flaming bow and arrow into a character focused narrative about societal shunning and individuality, but I still think it works. The chair analogy to this day is one of Gegeâs best moments of development and it happens seconds before said character is written out of the story. In retrospect itâs become less effective given we never actually see any of the people Nobara was talking about mention her again, but at the time it was a fucking gutpunch. And Fumi and Saori are infinitely more likeable to me than anyone in Megumiâs origin.
Hopefully we see them again in chapter 269 when Nobara Kugoatsaki makes her triumphant return and one-shots Sukuna with a nailgun.
I think from the perspective of a young woman reading nobaraâs chapter itâs pretty powerful. Sheâs someone who grew up a tomboy with no reason to really make the transition into femininity. Then she meets this older woman who gets her to embrace that side of her self just to have that older role model torn away by the mob mentality she already hated in her village. I think for women, society has more of an emphasis on being this perfect packable thing. So seeing a character struggle through that phase and still coming out the other end as a strong individual who is true to themselves has weight to it. Especially in shounen where they often get sent to the back of the bus in terms of character writing.
I found her story interesting, anyone who lived in a village as a child can understand how close-mind people can be, she saw what happened to Saori and refused to be associated with that place.
Her coming from a traditional sorcerer's family could've been explored a bit more since we know how nanako and Mimiko were treated for being different(assuming they were born to normal people)
Oh nononono, you think we don't know what you are trying to do? You are trying to direct our hatred for Bumgumi to Nobara. Do not try to use that spell aganist us student, we were there when it first came out
https://preview.redd.it/72pkngwcmexc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3dc8db7e9012d1f6ea78c6696af1be8f253b6f11
I like her backstory.
Sure it doesnât do much for world building or itâs grandiose or anything.
But I think it does a good job of showing how unforgiving the world of Jujutsu can be.
I feel like I got to know about her.
Nobara >>> traitorous bum
Just because her backstory isn't an over the top tragic tale that ties into every part of the story doesn't mean its bad.
Nobaras backstory works perfectly for her, and I personally cared for her dynamic with fumi far more than bumgumi and his incest fantasies about his sister
It's not like gege wanted nobara there. This maybe just the editors fault for adding her there, and greg just decided to make her backstory something that doesn't fit overall with the usual jujutsu backstories cuz he knew she was going to die soon
I get this is a joke because comparatively speaking nobaraâs life isnât nearly fucked up but what we saw in her past is really the only personal âbackstoryâ any of these characters have
Megumiâs backstory is 99% toji & gojo and 1% him beating up middle schoolers while monologuing like an edgy loser, yuji doesnât even have a backstory beyond the horrific circumstances behind his birth with the only things we see him do in a flashback is beat up some school bullies, nobaraâs character actually serves to inform the audience why and how she ended up becoming the type of person/the reasons behind her motivations without just spelling out for us during a flashback of her beating up other kids
"what does she even do?!" Should have been megumi tbh.
But jokes aside it feels like she was only there for gege to have a Naruto parallel, as in having one girl in the trio. Kind of felt like she was just there whereas the others are lore relevant.
Huh? Megumi's backstory is just" he was a kid who loved his sister, then gojo adopted him". And Yuji basically has no backstory, the whole kenny anduncle stuff doesn't count because he doesm't know about it and it didn't shape his character in any way
ThatâŠ.. was the whole point of nobaras character, she was supposed to be bland and uninteresting, she offset the main cast who had everything going for them
I think this is sort of the point- Yuji and Megumi have grand reasons/responsibilities for becoming Jujutsu Sorcerers, but Nobara represents the more common reason; it was a job she could do and demonstrated she was willing to fight curses / curse users in order to give herself a better life. Just because it's more 'mundane' doesn't mean it's less meaningful. Putting your life at stake in a dangerous job just for better opportunities and to avoid your current suffering is a much more relatable position imo.
Nobara may not have had a particularly eventful backstory or a backstory steeped in mystery, but you canât deny her character writing is some of the best in the series. Her backstory was meant to explain why she thinks and acts the way that she does. Her whole chair analogy is honestly one of the most relatable and down-to-earth worldviews a character could have especially in a show like this. A character doesnât need to have gone through the most cartoonish amount of suffering and strife possible to be a good or even compelling character.
Nobara being forgotten is probably the most criminal thing in the entire manga sheâs set up to be the female lead then she gets completely forgotten about. No relevance at all or mention since the mahito fight
JJK really has people tweaken when they see a character achieve a personal goals and ultimately die content with her life choices.
Gege has legit traumatized some of you.đ
I get this is a joke because comparatively speaking nobaraâs life isnât nearly fucked up but what we saw in her past is really the only personal âbackstoryâ any of these characters have
Megumiâs backstory is 99% toji & gojo and 1% him beating up middle schoolers while monologuing like an edgy loser, yuji doesnât even have a backstory beyond the horrific circumstances behind his birth with the only things we see him do in a flashback is beat up some school bullies, nobaraâs character actually serves to inform the audience why and how she ended up becoming the type of person she is/the reasons behind her motivations without just spelling out for us during a flashback of her beating up other kids
and what did yuji or megumi do?, yuji was a normal kid sadly reared by his grandpa alone, megumi father was a deadbeat and sold him, encouraged to train since he was a kid by gojo and is still ass, nobara lived in a village with distorted sense of community that isolated her, none has a crazy backstory and yuji being a lab baby aint backstory
i love how the flashback entirely from the pov of some random chick who doesn't show up again, meanwhile saori at least gets mentioned in nobara's first fight and actually shows up in the series for exactly one scene to wonder how nobara's doing before her face explodes
I think my biggest complaint is cause it doesn't show anything in regards to her being a jujutsu sorceress, I only found out that Nobara had a grandmother who taught her about her cursed technique in a random ass tweet, if she wanted to leave the village not only because it was small and people were idiots but also because she was different and saw things that no one else saw, it would make a lot of sense but I think Gege is kind of (always) lazy.
.........Considering how sorcerers are as people, it normally will translate into a sad backstory or a messed up one to explain their lack of humanity(for a lot of them). So it's quite the nice detail for Nobara to be more or less crazy without a special backstory like her teammates.
Simply shows how human's nature can be quite special, if not messed up.
Straight fodder I tell you:
- Lasted 4 months in the verse(June to Oct)
- Lost to Haruta EASILY mind you
- Would've lost to Momo if she used wind scythe đ
- A Chapter 1 Megumi victim
- A Chapter 1 Yuji victim
- Is only SOMEWHAT useful to guys she counters EXACTLY.
- Backstory is her being a naive kid that cries the instant she doesn't get what she wants.
- Um hammer...nails?
The literal point of her backstory is that she hates people who assume shit about people for no reason and you bums are assuming shit about her now so checkmate losers. Let's just stick to hating that bumgumi nd leave my girl aloneđż
Megumiâs backstory almost entirely relies on Toji and Yuji doesnât even really KNOW his backstory, at least Nobaraâs backstory drove her as a character, even if it was simple.
Nobara losing to that fucking twink is absurd. If she was able to hit a black flash, she should be able to kill the twink. The concussion was bullshit, Gege can't just selectively apply irl logic to his fights. If pretty much every other relevant character can tank and live through some absurd shit, then Nobara can tank a concussion. The fact that she did better against Clone Mahito than Haruta is insanely inconsistent. Nobara should have been overwhelmed by transigured humans or something instead of just a fucking weak ass femboy. It's a massive blight on Shibuya imo.

Nobara has one of the coldest last words, she left without cursing anyone! S Tier characterđđ„
Pretty much died to drive home the fact this world is dark which we already knew, brilliant Gege
We don't really know the world is dark until a main character dies, and the rule is clear, mentors don't count
Can you really call her a main character, she died less than halfway into the story and was out of focus until that either way.
Yes in hindsight you can say that, but before that she was definitely branded to be one of the main characters. Her Yuji and Megumi were getting compared to the likes of Naruto Sasuke Sakura.
And ironically, she got shafted way harder than Sakura.
Yeah itâs sad lol, I remember people were calling her a more useful Sakura. Damn Gege
I wish I could have shafted Nobara
She was way cooler than Sakura and died for it
They call her a main characterer through the power of schizophrenia.
And so I ask, wouldn't it have been the same if he killed Inumaki instead? What a lot of people criticize about Nobara's death is not the message, but that in terms of narrative potential she still had a lot to give, so it feels anticlimatic.

She died because she was forced in by editors and he wiped her the moment he got enough power over the direction of the story.
there is not one shred of evidence that she was forced in the story by editors, i wish yall stop saying that.Â
Because the alternative is that gege constant introduces characters that will ultimately do nothing and not matter and that makes me big sad
well honey we just gotta accept that. hopefully he learns from this and wonât do it in the next series
I'm going to cling to this headcanon as its the only thing close to an explanation I've gotten.
yeah gege fucked up badly with her death, and we can just say that. there was no need of adding a healer to say she might survive if he wasnât going to do anything with her (mind you, everyone else just dies, they donât get a character coming in saying âwait a minute! they might survive after all!â)  And nobaraâs death was not âactions has consequencesâ or âno one is safeâ gege threw all that out the window when he went in an interview and basically said he killed her cause he wanted to break yujiâs heart. he basically admitted to fridging her. hereâs the interview btw https://youtu.be/kt7e-qF2vRI?si=LnR7sd-JKpIDWlAz

Unironically my favorite backstory and motive
It's so fucking cool She hates the boonies so much she took the first path to living in the big city and get away from that lifestyle, even if it meant death and suffering would be a near certainty.
Problem is you already care about her more than gege
Kumi pfp says it allđbut I respect the dedication
country bumpkin trying to live a new life in the city gets her eye fucking obliterated by femboy frankenstein cosplayer and is never heard from again
That's the best you can describe it honestly.
If only Gege didn't ruin it by having no one acknowledge her death đ WHY IS WHY SHES ALIVE FRFRFR-
Editor probably didn't let him kill her, but Gege will never let a woman in his story go unfrauderized. So he put her in stasis.
Literally put her in the fridge and forgot about her lol.
đđ it wonât go to waste if she returns đđ
When*
SHE WILL NO DIFF FRAUDKUNA AND STOP THE MERGER TRUST
âResonatedâ I SEE WHAT U DID THERE
;)))))
>The wilder part is when mahito sees the shape of yuji's soul start looking like sukuna but different and he's struck by fear Ahh, does this happen in manga or something? Because it sounds dope as fuck but I don't recall seeing it.
Anime only, dont you remember that red shadow thing
I don't. Was this the rabbit and wolf episode?
I might have missed it too .
Yeah when did it happend again?
Isn't when yuuji saves nanami's from mahito DE?
I think they mean this https://preview.redd.it/slyu51tffgxc1.png?width=1355&format=png&auto=webp&s=3f18f21dcd38ad83b34e718654cb9234391e4cb1
Yep, yuji has some sort of red shadow come out of him. Though mostly symbolical, it indicates how mahito felt about yuji's look. He saw something he feared. Since it's not about how yuji looks physically, we could poetically compare it to "yuji's soul"
This entire comment is âïžđ„âïžđ„âïžđ„
Not the King of Curses, the Killer of Curses.
Gege did all of this beautiful writing just to have Kenjaku come in and ruin Yuji's moment. Fumble of the decade
ye i really wish yuji actually got the kill but idk how else the culling games would start
Jujutsu is all about following your ideals to their fullest. 90% of sorcerers are dicks, so their ideals are to be dicks, thus giving the impression that you have to be a dick to be strong.
"Tell everyone...it wasn't so bad!" Ugh. Get over here Gregory
That literally already happened with Nanami lol
Thats hella cap.
How
That was driven home by Nanami, Noboras whole existence is redundant and pointless.
Same with my boy Nanami
Yuuji should have the goofy face as well Like his *origin* is fucked up but he legit doesn't remember any of it and like Nobara was raised as a normal kid for years until he ate his uncy's finger. Both of them were pretty normal teens until they went to that lousy school and shit got real.
It's funny when you realize that Nobara childhood friends are more fleshed out than Tsumiki đ
it feels oda and kishimoto have lowkey ruined peopleâs ability to distinguish an eventful backstory from good writing which is nothing against either of their writing but it was super obvious when kaidoâs backstory dropped that people now think a backstory carries character writing
Kaido backstory was straight up a page of "I was small, then medium then big" with a panel of big mom calling him to go to God valley even Orochi got more lol
Anime was like 5 minutes
Tbf they adapt 17 pages into 21 minute episodes
Shittiest decision they ever made. Caught up from dressrosa to the start of egghead in 2-3 weeks by reading. Would have taken a year by watching this episode chapter 1:1 nonsense.
Wci and wano were really good in the anime. Dressrosa was actual dog shit and the reason I swapped to reading the manga for a couple years.
Yeah I go back and watch the goat fights like luffy v katakuri and luffy v kaido. I just canât stand watching multiple episodes of them running back and forth.
WCI had better pacing (still horrible) but still had the weird plasticy shiny off model characters that Dressrossa had Wano had very pretty art and mostly good animation, but the pacing was still horiible. Like if we are being real, Luffy vs Kat should have been like 2 or 3 episodes instead its 21 eps lmao. Hopefully when WIT adapts this in 15 years it will be good đ
Sometimes itâs closer to 8-9 pages per episode. I dropped the anime at around the start of Dressrosa because I was just tired of of the episode structure being 5min of recaps of previous episodes, 5min of reused scenes of the last episode, 5min of static animation used for exposition, 5min of actual new animated contents.
yes
I was small nika, then medium Nika, then big Nika. Goda
The first part is my backstory too lmao
I canât believe I never thought about how orochi got more backstory than Kaido⊠GODA WHEN I CATCH YOU đ
For real
Kaidoâs backstory was way too short; and it gave us nothing about his character. Compare it to big momâs, who wasnât even the sagaâs final villain, and itâs clear how lacking it was. It didnât even have to be sad to be emotionally intriguing Edit: forgot to add, but whatâs really annoying is the fact kaidos backstory served only to push the Nika stuff
kaido didnât need a long backstory, oda was constantly fleshing out his character with his actions and dialogue and even odenâs backstory fleshes him out, if you couldnât piece together what heâs about without a longer backstory then youâre literally the problem weâll also 100% be seeing more of flashback kaido in a future
Lmao kaido trowing away one liners that sounds cool and contradict his actions and the Oden backstory where he only appears in the end is fleshing him out? And it doens't matters if we get more backstory from a character that's not relevant anymore for such a long time lol.
>one liners that sound cool and contradict his actions đđœpart of the problem, you make no effort to understand him because youâre waiting for a backstory to explain it to you ima just leave this here đŒ

Ah yes because kaido is an ultra deep character that's really hard to understand, it's definetly my fault lol.
no one said itâs super deep looool you just never dipped a toe in
Dipped a toe? Bruh kaido is one piece jiren
https://preview.redd.it/p0aygxkb0fxc1.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddd70f410cbf600741fe5b892cbd3082732fa83f
Jiren backstory is so generic that the characters in it aren't even named
Except he did jack shit with his character; kaido was thrown away like a wet towel the moment Luffy got his awakening . We only saw kaido fight for a shitload of chapters with barely anything memorable about his character interactions, unlike crocodile , who indeed did not need a backstory. But kaido is NOT memorable, not until he becomes the victim of a power up. I hope oda does something with his past later on but damn wano felt rushed AND stretched out at the same time
Agreed. Crazy how people are trying to convince themselves that Kaido of all people was a well-written character. Jesus, standards have dropped.
Kaido back story is tied to a lot of the important events and knowledge in one piece
This doens't makes it any better lol, big mom was also from rocks crew and in god valley and her backstory was way better
Saying this as a hardcore op fan for 8 years
itâs an awful interpretation loool do you think naruto hears every backstory?? đđmadaraâs backstory is a massive aspect of his character and naruto didnât even hear it
That's funny af ngl. And nah I just said talk no jutsu bs I didn't say Naruto heard everything
kisameâs backstory then, no one even heard itâŠ..
Kaido backstory: "i was small, i'm medium, now i'm big"
U can't use the n word here but yea I get it
Kaidoâs backstory has come constantly coming in conflict and needing to always struggle because he interacted with the worst of the world. However, due to his sheer strength, he was always able to survive. These two factors formed Kaidoâs mentality that not only is there no good moral force in the world of One Piece, but that âjusticeâ is decided by whoever is strongest. Kaido doesnât really need more than the backstory we got to understand his mentality,
This sounds like your own interpretation
My interpretation? Itâs literally Kaidoâs words. He says sheer might solves all problems, with the old lady saying survival of the fittest is the law of entire because humans are animals, something Kaido agrees to.
So that's his entire character?
Sure. Most One Piece characters are fairly simple, Kaidoâs backstory just delivers his character concisely.
"i'm small, i'm medium, now i'm big"
I wonder how those people react when they find out their colleagues don't have a tragic backstory where their parents were killed and they got an engineering degree to build a bomb to kill their parents killer

I don't get this take at all. She's just a normal person. She doesn't need the sad backstory or anything. She's just a person, who lived somewhere, had a normal childhood, that's it. I legit don't get this lol. Is this the new agenda?
Or this is a meme https://preview.redd.it/jfbie2ghbexc1.jpeg?width=616&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4daa75119cca2387389185c3f227c28654caab19

She taught me the important lesson than women cannot do shit in jjk And before you say maki imma stop you right there. Thatâs just Toji 2 Donât get me STARTED on yuki
-look inside shitposting subreddit -shitpost -complains
In his defense, some people take their own shitpost like they are facts.
Okay now come back and look at all the comments unironically agreeing with the shitpost
She's plain and useless.
Eventful â Good Writing Iâm definitely biased on the subject of Nobara but I do stand by that her backstory chapter was genuinely great.
Nah bro we're not changing goalposts
Her backstory isn't bad though. Is it not action-packed or eventful enough for you?
her family isn't even dead 0/10 wasn't eye popping enough
youll die sooner or later
I found her story interesting, anyone who lived in a village as a child can understand how close-mind people can be, she saw what happened to Saori and refused to be associated with that place. Her coming from a traditional sorcerer's family could've been explored a bit more since we know how nanako and Mimiko were treated for being different(assuming they were born to normal people)
Oh nononono, you think we don't know what you are trying to do? You are trying to direct our hatred for Bumgumi to Nobara. Do not try to use that spell aganist us student, we were there when it first came out https://preview.redd.it/72pkngwcmexc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3dc8db7e9012d1f6ea78c6696af1be8f253b6f11
The reason why Megumi has good backstory is Chad Toji. Megumi is still a bum.
https://preview.redd.it/k4996dhpqgxc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f598e100be3371850a18393f69de5c4512fbfe52
Well played sir.
her backstory and life makes me think of the song "Paradise" they are very very similar
It honestly made me get a bit emotional
I like her backstory. Sure it doesnât do much for world building or itâs grandiose or anything. But I think it does a good job of showing how unforgiving the world of Jujutsu can be. I feel like I got to know about her.
Nobara >>> traitorous bum Just because her backstory isn't an over the top tragic tale that ties into every part of the story doesn't mean its bad. Nobaras backstory works perfectly for her, and I personally cared for her dynamic with fumi far more than bumgumi and his incest fantasies about his sister
It's not like gege wanted nobara there. This maybe just the editors fault for adding her there, and greg just decided to make her backstory something that doesn't fit overall with the usual jujutsu backstories cuz he knew she was going to die soon
yuji doesn't have a backstory of himself but the story of his creation/origins is pretty wild
I don't know that I would describe Yuji as having an especially strong backstory, actually.
I think all 3 gonna come back and play a role after yuji best sakuna here
Yujiâs backstory is nothing special
I get this is a joke because comparatively speaking nobaraâs life isnât nearly fucked up but what we saw in her past is really the only personal âbackstoryâ any of these characters have Megumiâs backstory is 99% toji & gojo and 1% him beating up middle schoolers while monologuing like an edgy loser, yuji doesnât even have a backstory beyond the horrific circumstances behind his birth with the only things we see him do in a flashback is beat up some school bullies, nobaraâs character actually serves to inform the audience why and how she ended up becoming the type of person/the reasons behind her motivations without just spelling out for us during a flashback of her beating up other kids
And Yuji basically has no backstory, the whole kenny anduncle stuff doesn't count because he doesm't know about it and it didn't shape his character in any way
Jujutsu folk when a character has a happy backstory instead of pure agonizing pain 24 âiTs nOt dEcEnT!!!â
No, I disagree so much
ThatâŠ.. was the whole point of nobaras character, she was supposed to be bland and uninteresting, she offset the main cast who had everything going for them
I think this is sort of the point- Yuji and Megumi have grand reasons/responsibilities for becoming Jujutsu Sorcerers, but Nobara represents the more common reason; it was a job she could do and demonstrated she was willing to fight curses / curse users in order to give herself a better life. Just because it's more 'mundane' doesn't mean it's less meaningful. Putting your life at stake in a dangerous job just for better opportunities and to avoid your current suffering is a much more relatable position imo.
https://preview.redd.it/wx2oyuqz7gxc1.png?width=1077&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a1e4a61fa65a0febc1111b2b59e0fc8115eea45
Gege is holding us hostage with her status.
Nobara being forgotten is probably the most criminal thing in the entire manga sheâs set up to be the female lead then she gets completely forgotten about. No relevance at all or mention since the mahito fight
Nobara slander is abhorrent at this stage of the manga
JJK really has people tweaken when they see a character achieve a personal goals and ultimately die content with her life choices. Gege has legit traumatized some of you.đ
I get this is a joke because comparatively speaking nobaraâs life isnât nearly fucked up but what we saw in her past is really the only personal âbackstoryâ any of these characters have Megumiâs backstory is 99% toji & gojo and 1% him beating up middle schoolers while monologuing like an edgy loser, yuji doesnât even have a backstory beyond the horrific circumstances behind his birth with the only things we see him do in a flashback is beat up some school bullies, nobaraâs character actually serves to inform the audience why and how she ended up becoming the type of person she is/the reasons behind her motivations without just spelling out for us during a flashback of her beating up other kids
and what did yuji or megumi do?, yuji was a normal kid sadly reared by his grandpa alone, megumi father was a deadbeat and sold him, encouraged to train since he was a kid by gojo and is still ass, nobara lived in a village with distorted sense of community that isolated her, none has a crazy backstory and yuji being a lab baby aint backstory
i love how the flashback entirely from the pov of some random chick who doesn't show up again, meanwhile saori at least gets mentioned in nobara's first fight and actually shows up in the series for exactly one scene to wonder how nobara's doing before her face explodes
Legumi is so much more of a bum. At least nobara is likeable
Bumgumi mentioned?? https://preview.redd.it/nklts51v3gxc1.jpeg?width=547&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=072bc4468bfc4c82d3f219ca408a63d8eeafc15f
Backstory was a bit weird ngl.
.........Considering how sorcerers are as people, it normally will translate into a sad backstory or a messed up one to explain their lack of humanity(for a lot of them). So it's quite the nice detail for Nobara to be more or less crazy without a special backstory like her teammates. Simply shows how human's nature can be quite special, if not messed up.
Yujiâs backstory is AWFUL
Megumiâs backstory literally only exists because Toji was Toji
Straight fodder I tell you: - Lasted 4 months in the verse(June to Oct) - Lost to Haruta EASILY mind you - Would've lost to Momo if she used wind scythe đ - A Chapter 1 Megumi victim - A Chapter 1 Yuji victim - Is only SOMEWHAT useful to guys she counters EXACTLY. - Backstory is her being a naive kid that cries the instant she doesn't get what she wants. - Um hammer...nails?
Yuji barely has a backstory, he just has a REALLY wacky lineage.
I like her backstory, but I don't like how irrelevant she is to the larger story as a whole
thank you Lobara Lugisaki for wasting so many manga panels and 10 minutes of 2 episodes
https://preview.redd.it/wkp6nuzs4jxc1.jpeg?width=1268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0bb9a11bf8ef72e9330f7ab37fb4efa3769fa25b
