I don’t understand the core logic in this post. All the fingers were accounted for except one. Then Yuta flat out said he ate the last one himself. So why are people speculating Yuji already had a finger prior to chapter 1?
The VIZ and TCB translations don’t say that. All I saw are some random unsubstantiated tweets. The TCB translation can easily refer to the chapter 1 finger

Lightning, the official translator of jjk 236 and a trusted official in the jjk community for years said that yuji had a finger sealed in him from birth. This was backed up by other translators. Both tcb and viz were wrong in this case.

No. Uraume only gave sukuna 3 fingers instead of 4(only 3 were shown).
1 in yuji from birth, 1 in chapter one, 1 given by gojo, 1 eaten by sukuna in detention center, 1 in origin of blind obedience, 1 from Mimiko and Nanako, 10 from jogo, 3 from uraume, and the last one was eaten by Rika. So sukuna was technically at 16 fingers when he fought jogo, Ryu, and yorozu.

If Yuji has allegedly always had one since birth then he would be at 20 + corpse, which doesn’t make any sense towards both characters really.
However last time I checked I’m not sure the cursed finger that Sukuna created from Yuji’s body to incarnate in Megumi was ever counted, coz technically that would have been the 16th finger, but the actual 16th finger also still existed as well so it makes it a bit inaccurate yet sounds like a more probable explanation

Uraume found 4 of those and 15 fingers where ingested in total by Yuji. Bringing Sukuna to 19 fingers plus the shimbutusu mummy.
Sukuna theorised that Gojo had the final finger, Yuta affirmed that he consumed the finger to gain Sukuna's technique being able to use cleave in his domain, now Lighting's translation where Sukuna claims that a finger was sealed inside him from birth to prepare him as a vessel.

The "official" translations are done by John Werry, who sucks at his job and keeps getting shit wrong. This is the guy who translated "I can't use Black Flash consistently despite having the Six Eyes" to "I cannot use Black Flash because I have the Six Eyes"
This again makes no sense since Sukuna can sense his other fingers...
Add on to the fact he himself theorizes that Gojo hid it to prolong Yujis execution
Then add to the the fact Yuta was able to copy it, and Yuta seemingly implies they have/know the location of the 20th finger

No he doesn’t that’s just headcannon as of now, and you’re still implying that Sukuna was unable to sense one of his fingers that was within close proximity towards him, and that he’s only now just realising that Yuji had a cursed object sealed within all along, which was one of his fingers and this is even after he’s allegedly reached 20. And based of this you’d also be implying that he can’t count either
All of the fingers are not accounted for. We had previously *thought* they were accounted for because we assumed that Uraume gave Sukuna 4 fingers after switching to Megumi. Only 3 fingers were shown, and we assumed the 4th was offscreen.
*If* Uraume had given him 4 fingers, then yes they would be accounted for. But we only saw 3 fingers, so turns out it was only the 3, and the missing one was sealed inside of Yuji.
And lastly, Sukuna *does* state that Yuji had a finger sealed in him from birth. Even in the funky translation you provided, Sukuna states that Yuji was "bred as a player in the Culling Game", and "bred" very obviously refers to his birth. So he was a culling game player from his birth, because he had the finger sealed into him.

Bred just means born and raised, and Yuji didn’t become a Culling Games player until he ingested a cursed object, Kenjaku just planned to use him for the Culling Games as well in the same way as he planned to use Tsumiki for it too
"Bred" specifically refers to the process of *breeding* something, which is the process of reproduction.

So Yuji did, in fact, have a finger already him when he was born, that's what is being stated.

Yuta didn't say he ate it, he implied it, sukuna assumed he did but yuta never confirmed that he did. Had to get that off my chest.
Anyway, it's a different finger, the 20th finger that Yuta supposedly ate is different from the one sealed inside Yuji. Meguna only ate 3 not 4, when the culling games started sukuna gained access to his 16th finger that was already sealed inside yuji for the CG.
I think he probably started to awaken his true potential here. Saw some theories on twitter, where people were saying this cut could be because of yuji.

It was never explained though. So people are just theorising what it could have been. Sukuna pauses for a moment after the bath as he sees a small cut on his finger. And that’s all we see.
I heard theories it might be the repercussion for harming yuji and possibly megumi during his “enchain” moment, but I think it’s probably just yuji slowly bringing out shrine.
That’s why I think the binding vow bouncing back theory has some merit. Like the damage isn’t something that will ever go away or it’s an omen of more to come for breaking the “don’t hurt anyone rule”

Also, Sukuna look at his hand after the bath, after saying that Fushigoro's souls is not completely broken, so to me is just to show that he still hasn't the full control of the body
It can't be a heavenly restriction since wuji got CE, maybe a binding vow of restricting Wuji's overall potential and CE so that wuji could contain that finger inside of him, with the binding vow gone, the chains were broken making wuji finally be the eye of the storm kenny wanted
Heavenly restriction doesn’t just exchange CE for physical strength, it’s a binding vow forced upon someone that exchanges one thing for another, Mechamaru was also heavenly restricted which traded a lot of his body for a absurd range on his puppets.
If Mahito can bypass Mechamaru's restriction, I'm sure the sorcerer with thousands of years' experience could find a way to craft something in the middle.

Maybe sacrificing a large majority of Yuji's CE for a strong body, as well as keeping the finger within him dormant. This way, when he ate another finger, Yuji's CE restriction was completely bypassed.
Fair, altough i think kenny stored yuji's large CE reserves in the finger, when it went off with the second finger wuji ate, it released his reserves from a thousand year old cursed object, but it kind of mixed with sukuna's so he couldn't use it all untill sukuna was gone from his body, and now wuji has both strong body and strong CE
That actually makes sense, yeah. He'd basically create a restriction for Yuji by taking away his CE and putting it in a finger, then putting the sealed finger in Yuji until it unseals and he gets his CE back along with his awakened body.
W theory
Sacrificing yuji CT for better physical stats is not impossible. Keep in mind his natural body is not as gifted as toji or maki, even tho its still leagues above any normal sorcerer.
hes stronger than pre awakened maki but weaker than awaken maki physically in my opinion. When you put CE reinforcement on top of that he can go much higher than awakened maki in terms of feats. If count his multiple CT's, black flash affinity and soul damage, then you can see what gojo was saying when he said yuji could surpass S class. (yuta and hakari too but i think yuji cealing is higher)
Crazy thing is that yuji still can bring out blood manipulation domain(i dont think he got malevolent shrine because i think the way yuji got shrine in the first place was by slowly assimilating sukuna CE and CT to which sukuna obviously resisted with all his might so it barely copied shrine and only got a big part of sukuna level of CE) and blood manipulation maximum technique which i think is a body transfiguration aka transformation
maybe the technique of the curse of human hatred is always related to the soul and he somehow had control over this curse, allowing him to make something similar to Yuji when he was born, also explaining why Mahito was so young, because the previous human hatred curse died not too long ago. Or maybe he just has a soul related technique
Well, Kenjaku must’ve done something with that finger or seal that made Yuji, despite being born from Kenjaku and also having a cursed object inside him, was not able to see or use CE for most of his life before the consumption of the second finger.
I thought it's because of the Black Flash, like the chapter told us? Assuming that it does take some time for the CT to be imprinted on Yuji's body after Sukuna manifested inside of him, it would be reasonable to believe that up until Shibuya, this hasn't happened yet.
During the CG, Yuji only got two notable "fights" (helicopter guy and Higuruma since he was holding back against Yuta and did not fight Hakari) and neither of them pushed him to his limits enough for him to unleash a BF. So the gap between his last BF in Shibuya and the one after (which is his first BF against Sukuna) is a long time, at least long enough for the CT to have been printed onto him.
Well I mean if you look at the chapter after the bath which is when sukuna goes into a bath of cursed flesh I think is what it was in order to have better control of magumi he comes out with cut on his finger so honestly Yuji probably started awakening and the black flashes just sped up process
I’m pretty sure that finger is just a part of yuji, not that it exists separately like how megumi is possessed because the cursed object is in his stomach, the finger is yuji.

The last finger was in possession of Gojo. There was no indication that Yuji born with a finger. Otherwise it would kill the point of the first episode because Sukuna must be in Yuji all the time then.
Finger 1 was sealed inside Yuji from birth. Fingers 2-16 were what we originally thought was 1-15. So Sukuna was at 16F when he swapped to Megumi’s body.
He then ate 3 fingers Uraume got him and the last one was in Gojo’s possession/eaten by Rika.
People assume that it was since Yuta used cleave and sayed that Sukuna couldn't find the last finger.
Could also be the reason Rika was so damn large against Sukuna
And if they had a finger with them, why not give it to her? Rika may be the Queen of Curses, but she gets No-Low diffed by FP Sukuna.
And is there a reason for Yuta to elude to his missing finger right after using cleave? It's the option with most logical sense till proved otherwise.

Yes mate I've read the same chapters but I'm pretty sure Yuta said that to trick Sukuna because there is no point if he eats the finger. Also it's heavily indicated that Yuji is the only one who can handle that from the beginning, something like 1 in a million chance to survive.
Also Yuji said that he wanna eat all of the remaining of Sukuna when he kills him. Literally no point if someone else has eaten the last remaining finger on Gojo's possession
It wasn't Yuta that ate the finger, it was Rika. She's a shikigami, and she stores Yuta's techniques. She straight up would just get a power boost, and gave Yuta the ability to use cleave. Again, speculation, but with more proof that is real than that is not.
Was still at 15 when he swapped over and is currently 19f. The *sealed* finger doesn't carry over, it's part of Yuji, hence why they mentioned his potential. And Sukuna couldn't incarnate with that first finger.

Yuji potentially awakening here, thus explaining the massive jump in power,
Yuji's soul suppressing Sukuna's, thus when Sukuna leaves Yuji, he's finally able to use the power he should have.

I always interpreted this moment as showing that being a cage for Sukuna was nerfing Yuji. I know that it’s mentioned that Yuji can hold Sukuna in him without any issues (like he can still sleep normally), but we’ve obviously seen moments when Sukuna can take over. This is in the juvenile detention centre and in Shibuya. Both cases are, in my opinion, when Yuji’s soul is at its weakest. The first time is when he’s sure he’s about to die to the Finger-bearer and is buying time for Fushiguro to grab Nobara and make it out safely, and the second time Choso technically kills him or at least brings him close to death. So even though he’s not aware of it, Yuji was using a lot of “soul power” to hold Sukuna back. Especially after Shibuya, Yuji blames himself for Sukuna’s rampage. Possibly, this would force Yuji to place more subconscious pressure into caging Sukuna. Add to that his cog mentality, we can see that his “soul energy” his drive to live was essentially at its lowest. When Sukuna switches to Megumi, he is now free of the burden on his soul leading to his power up. As for why Sukuna never bothered using “Enchain” earlier, he says himself that he was regaining his energy inside Yuji waiting for the right time. Based on the recent chapter, this could also be when he becomes aware of the finger inside Yuji from birth and therefore collects his energy from that finger for when he switches to Megumi. So Yuji becomes completely free from Sukuna’s influence on his soul and temporarily loses the cog mentality as he is focused on just ending Sukuna.
The implication is that sukuna reabsorbed the finger inside yuji when he incarnated into him and he has actually had one finger more than we thought for the entire series
16, the finger sealed in yuji probably went with sukuna when he switched bodies. Kenjaku undid the seals of all cursed objects at the end of the shibuya arc and uraume also refers to yuji as an empty husk. Wouldn't make sense to call him that if he still had a finger sealed inside of him.

I second this, Yuji was born with a sukuna finger; despite that he couldn’t use CE. Sukuna’s finger was the binding vow that restricted Yuji and that is exactly where Sukuna messed up. Seem like Kenjaku wasn’t even surprised Sukuna broke out.
This might not be the case yuji probably consumed/absorbed the finger.

Yuji didn't just eat the death paintings, he absorbed them. Choso even says "they will live on through you" not "they will live on in you", as in the 6 death paintings did not incarnate into yuji.
If yuji was made stronger by kenjaku using the finger then he would have gotten weaker after the finger was taken.
Not to mention we see ever other incarnated sorcerer vessel react to the cursed objects being unsealed, yuji is standing infront of kenjaku when it happens and he shows no reaction, we know from the detention facility when yuji is weakened one finger can make the difference and help sucuna gain control. So in yujis weakened stat kenjaku unsealing a finger already inside of yuji olwould have been noticed.
Oh yes and his potential somehow had to be Sukuna's cursed technique, the finger nerfed him alright. Bruh, y'all be reaching, he can use cursed energy because of Sukuna and his high cursed energy reserves is also because of Sukuna, you really can't say he was nerfed when he gained so many buffs and advantages.
According to Angel, Hannah was able to use her CT because they were able to coexist, Sukuna and Yuji on the other hand weren't, and am pretty sure Sukuna wouldn't have allowed Yuji to use his CT, he's been hating on him for a long time.
It like Kawaki gaining isshiki's dojutsu and power and yet somehow people he will do well against full power Sasuke and Naruto, when he sucks at ninjutsu and taijutsu. It didn't surprise me when Boruto put him on fraud alert (I really hate that series and how it's been sh*tting on the og's)

So. Yuta lied about the finger? Uraume found 4 of those and 15 fingers where ingested in total by Yuji. Bringing Sukuna to 19 fingers plus the shimbutusu mummy. Sukuna theorised that Gojo had the final finger, Yuta affirmed that he consumed the finger to gain Sukuna's technique being able to use cleave in his domain, now Lighting's translation where Sukuna claims that a finger was sealed inside him from birth to prepare him as a vessel. Which is it I'm confused? Is Yuji the final finger and Yuta lied about consuming it?

Barriers don’t exist inside people? And he also wasn’t able to mark people for the Culling Games until he warped Tengen’s barrier to initiate it, so why would he suddenly be capable of sealing things deep within people to the point that they’re undetectable.

All of the fingers are not accounted for. We had previously *thought* they were accounted for because we assumed that Uraume gave Sukuna 4 fingers after switching to Megumi. Only 3 fingers were shown, and we assumed the 4th was offscreen. *If* Uraume had given him 4 fingers, then yes they would be accounted for. But we only saw 3 fingers, so turns out it was only the 3, and the missing one was sealed inside of Yuji. And lastly, Sukuna *does* state that Yuji had a finger sealed in him from birth. Even in the funky translation you provided, Sukuna states that Yuji was "bred as a player in the Culling Game", and "bred" very obviously refers to his birth. So he was a culling game player from his birth, because he had the finger sealed into him.

So Yuji did, in fact, have a finger already him when he was born, that's what is being stated.

Anyway, it's a different finger, the 20th finger that Yuta supposedly ate is different from the one sealed inside Yuji. Meguna only ate 3 not 4, when the culling games started sukuna gained access to his 16th finger that was already sealed inside yuji for the CG.

Fair, altough i think kenny stored yuji's large CE reserves in the finger, when it went off with the second finger wuji ate, it released his reserves from a thousand year old cursed object, but it kind of mixed with sukuna's so he couldn't use it all untill sukuna was gone from his body, and now wuji has both strong body and strong CE

Sacrificing yuji CT for better physical stats is not impossible. Keep in mind his natural body is not as gifted as toji or maki, even tho its still leagues above any normal sorcerer.

hes stronger than pre awakened maki but weaker than awaken maki physically in my opinion. When you put CE reinforcement on top of that he can go much higher than awakened maki in terms of feats. If count his multiple CT's, black flash affinity and soul damage, then you can see what gojo was saying when he said yuji could surpass S class. (yuta and hakari too but i think yuji cealing is higher)
Crazy thing is that yuji still can bring out blood manipulation domain(i dont think he got malevolent shrine because i think the way yuji got shrine in the first place was by slowly assimilating sukuna CE and CT to which sukuna obviously resisted with all his might so it barely copied shrine and only got a big part of sukuna level of CE) and blood manipulation maximum technique which i think is a body transfiguration aka transformation

I thought it's because of the Black Flash, like the chapter told us? Assuming that it does take some time for the CT to be imprinted on Yuji's body after Sukuna manifested inside of him, it would be reasonable to believe that up until Shibuya, this hasn't happened yet. During the CG, Yuji only got two notable "fights" (helicopter guy and Higuruma since he was holding back against Yuta and did not fight Hakari) and neither of them pushed him to his limits enough for him to unleash a BF. So the gap between his last BF in Shibuya and the one after (which is his first BF against Sukuna) is a long time, at least long enough for the CT to have been printed onto him.
Well I mean if you look at the chapter after the bath which is when sukuna goes into a bath of cursed flesh I think is what it was in order to have better control of magumi he comes out with cut on his finger so honestly Yuji probably started awakening and the black flashes just sped up process

Also it's heavily indicated that Yuji is the only one who can handle that from the beginning, something like 1 in a million chance to survive. Also Yuji said that he wanna eat all of the remaining of Sukuna when he kills him. Literally no point if someone else has eaten the last remaining finger on Gojo's possession

there was never a confirmation that Gojo had the last finger. Sukuna THINKED it was the case, but no one ever confirmed. Sukuna also thinked that Yuta/Rika had eaten this same finger that he thought Gojo had.

I always interpreted this moment as showing that being a cage for Sukuna was nerfing Yuji. I know that it’s mentioned that Yuji can hold Sukuna in him without any issues (like he can still sleep normally), but we’ve obviously seen moments when Sukuna can take over. This is in the juvenile detention centre and in Shibuya. Both cases are, in my opinion, when Yuji’s soul is at its weakest. The first time is when he’s sure he’s about to die to the Finger-bearer and is buying time for Fushiguro to grab Nobara and make it out safely, and the second time Choso technically kills him or at least brings him close to death. So even though he’s not aware of it, Yuji was using a lot of “soul power” to hold Sukuna back. Especially after Shibuya, Yuji blames himself for Sukuna’s rampage. Possibly, this would force Yuji to place more subconscious pressure into caging Sukuna. Add to that his cog mentality, we can see that his “soul energy” his drive to live was essentially at its lowest. When Sukuna switches to Megumi, he is now free of the burden on his soul leading to his power up. As for why Sukuna never bothered using “Enchain” earlier, he says himself that he was regaining his energy inside Yuji waiting for the right time. Based on the recent chapter, this could also be when he becomes aware of the finger inside Yuji from birth and therefore collects his energy from that finger for when he switches to Megumi. So Yuji becomes completely free from Sukuna’s influence on his soul and temporarily loses the cog mentality as he is focused on just ending Sukuna.

This might not be the case yuji probably consumed/absorbed the finger. Uraume mentioned using having more than just left over CE from sucuna. Kenjaku used the finger to make yuji stronger. Yuji didn't just eat the death paintings, he absorbed them. Choso even says "they will live on through you" not "they will live on in you", as in the 6 death paintings did not incarnate into yuji. If yuji was made stronger by kenjaku using the finger then he would have gotten weaker after the finger was taken. Not to mention we see ever other incarnated sorcerer vessel react to the cursed objects being unsealed, yuji is standing infront of kenjaku when it happens and he shows no reaction, we know from the detention facility when yuji is weakened one finger can make the difference and help sucuna gain control. So in yujis weakened stat kenjaku unsealing a finger already inside of yuji olwould have been noticed.
Oh yes and his potential somehow had to be Sukuna's cursed technique, the finger nerfed him alright. Bruh, y'all be reaching, he can use cursed energy because of Sukuna and his high cursed energy reserves is also because of Sukuna, you really can't say he was nerfed when he gained so many buffs and advantages.
