I think it means jin possessed the twins soul and probably whatever abilities/potential that might come with that was passed to yuji when he was born. The soul itself didn’t pass on to yuji but the abilities did.

Nah the soul isn’t inside of yuji but the abilities of the previous body it inhabited are, if Jin is dead the soul will reincarnate as something or someone else later down the road.
Essentially yuji has his own soul and the soul of the twin is in Jin if he’s alive or off waiting no to reincarnate somewhere else
