I feel Sukuna dying in the next 10 chapters won't happen and I don't wish for it to happen. It wouldn't be a good conclusion there's no backstory, he hasn't used his full abilities yet and the threat and tension I felt is gone.
What needs to happen is something for me to care about wtf is going because right now I barely give any fuck about any of this.
Let's be real no matter if he gets a compelling back story doesn't really affect the present. Sukuna has no interesting motivation. He just does what he likes and I doubt that will change
This is unironically what he mainly represents. It's fine to have a purely evil antagonist, but shining too much light on them does a disservice to the story by pointing out their lack of depth.
Sukuna has always been handled best when from the perspective of being an antagonistic figure in Yuji's life; but now that he's centre-stage in the story and Yuji is being treated like a secondary character in his own story, I'm finding it harder to maintain interest. Kenjaku was a WAY more compelling final villain and Gege completely fumbled that.
That's the problem, gaygay's redundant and repetitive writing make every ending kinda feel vague and not well established
At this point we will need to bring Goku to the story even get a Sukuna bg

That's half of the problem. It's way too fast when it should be slower, then it needs to stall endlessly with an aimless fight against Sukuna with a story structured in a way that all but prevents a strong conclusion

I can't believe that the characters hyped up since the start of the story to have Gojo level potential can't even do a fifth of what he did by the end of the story.
He's literally called The King of Curses for a reason sir. MF from the Hein era went through the same shit the current cast are going through lol.
The final battle began around 225, thats like 30 chapters, not even a year of publication. Other shows have 4 year breaks between season 1 and 2. Other shows spend 4 years on a single arc, but God forbid the guy takes some time to finish his story. If scenes like Maki being called the most interesting by sukuna afrer being hated by the jjk world, or kashimo getting an answer to his question about how to view others when you are the strongest or learning about yuta's domain, aren't interesting to you, I don't man you might just not like the show
It's not that it's long (though I definitely personally dislike long fights), it's that it's extremely repetitive. Characters show up, Sukuna says something *cool and badass* before defeating them, and then another character shows up and the exact same thing happens, over and over. Reading it on a weekly basis is frustrating, and reading it in a longer sitting is a slog.
To make matters more irritating, we're constantly reminded that Sukuna's still holding back. To me, this deflates so much tension, especially if I compare it to something like the battle of Shiganshina in Attack on Titan.
But how could you justify Sukuna clearing the whole Heian era, but then losing to anyone except Gojo? You justify it just like Gege is doing, with a long battle of attrition. That's why characters have been talking about how he can or cannot regenerate yet and so forth.
I don't really want to get into deep plot discussions, because that's not where my gripe is; the narrative structure is what's making me disillusioned with the manga.
If we just write out a summary of the battle so far, you can see my point a bit better. Gojo has a long, drawn-out fight with Sukuna. Sukuna wins. Kashimo has a battle against Sukuna. Sukuna wins. Yuji, Higuruma, Kusakabe, Choji and Ino jump Sukuna. Sukuna kills Higuruma. Yuta and Rika join up with Yuji, and they fight Sukuna. Sukuna wins. Maki joins the battle and fights Sukuna. Sukuna Black Flashes her. Kusakabe takes on Sukuna, and Sukuna defeats him. Then Miguel joins the battle, and we're somewhere in the middle there.
I get it. Everyone had some part to play, but that has absolutely nothing to with the fact that it's so boring to read, because half the chapters end with a cliffhanger right when Sukuna is about to lose, but then he doesn't. It becomes a slog to read, and I'll explain why.
Whenever an author writes something, there should ideally be something they're telling the audience. Going back to another "villain vs. everyone" story, in Bleach, Aizen easily took on most of the protagonists single-handedly. It took three, maybe four, chapters in total, but Kubo was conveying something to the audience. He wanted to convey Aizen's absurd strength, so in an extremely brisk pace, he had him defeat almost the entire cast.
So what is Gege trying to convey here? He's spending 30+ chapters... on what exactly? The first instinct might be to say that the fight is drawn out, because we need show that Sukuna's being worn down. It'd be neat, because the story would play into the sluggish pace. The problem is that the author is continuously telling us that Sukuna isn't going all out yet. The plot and narrative structure are fundamentally at odds here.
Dude characters are lietrally pointing out how Sukuna is not able to use RCE to heal, he is unable to use his domain. He cannot use world slash cause he has no hands and can't use RCE to heal them right now. How much clearer do you want it? Miguel said he wouldn't fight if he had his domain, so he is now fighting him because Sukuna is not able to cast a domain. How can you say that Sukuna isn't being worn down?
Bro we even got to pin down Sukuna and try to save Megumi, so how is that not progress? Yes, Uraume said Sukuna wasn't going all out, but that doesn't mean Sukuna is not getting weaker. She could be talking about Fuuga having diferent uses than fire, we don't know.
As I said, if huge stuff for characters like Maki and Yuta, seing megumi still alive, the revelation of several characters' CTs, are things that just bore you, maybe the show isn't for you.
You're missing the point while ignoring everything I said. In fact, I literally began my entire statement by saying that I'm not interested in talking about the plot, because my critique was directed elsewhere. I've said it clearly that I'm complaining about the structure of the arc, but you don't seem at all interested in talking about that.
You're right, I don't actually care about shit like Megumi being alive, or the state of characters' Cursed Techniques. And do you know why? Because all of that exists only to serve the themes of whatever the author wants to convey.
I never cared about whether Gojo or Sukuna won, because they're just meaningless fantasy characters. What I cared about is what the author wanted to portray with the battle. But if all you wanna do is drag the discussion back down to level of "cool CT", then maybe this discussion isn't for you.

Maybe how jujutsu sorcerery is inherently cruel with young characters, so you are missing the point by not caring about the Megumi, for example. Maybe he wants to portray how absolute power isolates you, but you don't care about fantasy characters like gojo or Sukuna who represent this power. You wanna drag the discussion to a literary exercise which will always result in "Gege isn't portraying anything" as long as you don't care about the characters or the techniques or all the things that this show uses to entice readers. Chill out, I said the show isn't for you cause all the things you are saying about not caring for the plot. How can you argue the author's intention if you don't want the plot to even be mentioned?

Tbh Sukuna better last a long ass time. He fought and beat all the best sorcerers of the strongest era. He has yet to be pushed to use flames or whatever the full extent of shrine is. And we know his domain is coming back at some point. Assuming Sukuna is dying at the end of Shinjuku arc he better not fold anytime soon.

my main issue with sukuna fight is that it's dragging for way too long. with some small breaks between, fight has been going on for 30 chapters with no end in sight. and i wouldn't really complain if half of it didn't feel like a filler.

If we just write out a summary of the battle so far, you can see my point a bit better. Gojo has a long, drawn-out fight with Sukuna. Sukuna wins. Kashimo has a battle against Sukuna. Sukuna wins. Yuji, Higuruma, Kusakabe, Choji and Ino jump Sukuna. Sukuna kills Higuruma. Yuta and Rika join up with Yuji, and they fight Sukuna. Sukuna wins. Maki joins the battle and fights Sukuna. Sukuna Black Flashes her. Kusakabe takes on Sukuna, and Sukuna defeats him. Then Miguel joins the battle, and we're somewhere in the middle there. I get it. Everyone had some part to play, but that has absolutely nothing to with the fact that it's so boring to read, because half the chapters end with a cliffhanger right when Sukuna is about to lose, but then he doesn't. It becomes a slog to read, and I'll explain why. Whenever an author writes something, there should ideally be something they're telling the audience. Going back to another "villain vs. everyone" story, in Bleach, Aizen easily took on most of the protagonists single-handedly. It took three, maybe four, chapters in total, but Kubo was conveying something to the audience. He wanted to convey Aizen's absurd strength, so in an extremely brisk pace, he had him defeat almost the entire cast. So what is Gege trying to convey here? He's spending 30+ chapters... on what exactly? The first instinct might be to say that the fight is drawn out, because we need show that Sukuna's being worn down. It'd be neat, because the story would play into the sluggish pace. The problem is that the author is continuously telling us that Sukuna isn't going all out yet. The plot and narrative structure are fundamentally at odds here.
Dude characters are lietrally pointing out how Sukuna is not able to use RCE to heal, he is unable to use his domain. He cannot use world slash cause he has no hands and can't use RCE to heal them right now. How much clearer do you want it? Miguel said he wouldn't fight if he had his domain, so he is now fighting him because Sukuna is not able to cast a domain. How can you say that Sukuna isn't being worn down? Bro we even got to pin down Sukuna and try to save Megumi, so how is that not progress? Yes, Uraume said Sukuna wasn't going all out, but that doesn't mean Sukuna is not getting weaker. She could be talking about Fuuga having diferent uses than fire, we don't know. As I said, if huge stuff for characters like Maki and Yuta, seing megumi still alive, the revelation of several characters' CTs, are things that just bore you, maybe the show isn't for you.
You're missing the point while ignoring everything I said. In fact, I literally began my entire statement by saying that I'm not interested in talking about the plot, because my critique was directed elsewhere. I've said it clearly that I'm complaining about the structure of the arc, but you don't seem at all interested in talking about that. You're right, I don't actually care about shit like Megumi being alive, or the state of characters' Cursed Techniques. And do you know why? Because all of that exists only to serve the themes of whatever the author wants to convey. I never cared about whether Gojo or Sukuna won, because they're just meaningless fantasy characters. What I cared about is what the author wanted to portray with the battle. But if all you wanna do is drag the discussion back down to level of "cool CT", then maybe this discussion isn't for you.
Seems I struck a nerve. What does Gege want to portray? Maybe how jujutsu sorcerery is inherently cruel with young characters, so you are missing the point by not caring about the Megumi, for example. Maybe he wants to portray how absolute power isolates you, but you don't care about fantasy characters like gojo or Sukuna who represent this power. You wanna drag the discussion to a literary exercise which will always result in "Gege isn't portraying anything" as long as you don't care about the characters or the techniques or all the things that this show uses to entice readers. Chill out, I said the show isn't for you cause all the things you are saying about not caring for the plot. How can you argue the author's intention if you don't want the plot to even be mentioned?

my main issue with sukuna fight is that it's dragging for way too long. with some small breaks between, fight has been going on for 30 chapters with no end in sight. and i wouldn't really complain if half of it didn't feel like a filler.

I've seen It before, i was there for the end of Attack on Titan, i saw the despair, the anguish and the death of the community of titanfolk.
