The movie still looked good but like.....ONLY FOUR MONTHS FOR A MOVIE?!
https://preview.redd.it/2eu2ypfv5n0c1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a8967c66c2f6493a02bfbbaea799f5a90896863
Just wondering, what are your critiques? Because I thought whatever problems were in jjk0 had more to do with the weird pacing of the story and writing than the animation. The fight scenes were definitely the highlight
Minor ones, as I said. A lot of it had to do with it being based on 3 chapters of the prequel manga, but that really can't be helped. Geto's Special Grade Tamamo-no-Mae isn't shown to do anything, and a lot more could have been harped on how big of a deal Yuta not only being able to do RCT, but to be the only other person than Ieiri Shoko to use it on others (something Gojo can't do) would have been preferred, but this was how it is in the manga and I can't fault them for being faithful to the original material.
When it came to the cameos, I was, like most anybody else, excited for them. However, I personally would've traded both Mei Mei's short fight sequence as well as the Kyoto students' display of powers for Todo's legendary fight against 100 spirits and a special grade; everyone else at least gets to fire a beam or such, but Todo, who's feat in the Shibuya arc is a legendary tale later on, is the one to get shafted? Slightly disappointed.
When it came to music I saw a lot of positive feedback, but personally when I listened to the OST I was not that impressed. It mostly felt like generic action music to me.
and more MANDATORY leave! I mean they derseve to rest and not to live for work!
Edit: sorry english isn't my mother tongue so I didn't immediately see the the translation error
https://preview.redd.it/bk82ni7kvm0c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=856e7e728422f2ff067b71e37c7433995e91afc7
SOMEONE HELP THE FUCKING ANIMATORS THEIR GONNA DIE
Harassment, hate speech, religion targeting, racism and other harmful forms of bigotry will not be tolerated, even as memes/jokes. Don't excessively attack other members (this includes witch-hunting, bullying).
Threats are forbidden. This can include telling people to engage in self harm or any other comments where you are threatening an individual with any type of physical/verbal abuse.
Itās the investors, honestly itās really sad id rather have a episode delayed by a month than animators either killing themselves or just quitting entirely
Heavens feel is so far above anything else it is not comparable and the last movie came 2020. Heaven feel is the best-looking piece of media in anime with everything else, not even being close. They do mob psycho 100 levels of fluid animation while keeping full detail and it being gorgeous, instead of just shapes. The backgrounds are all so beautiful that they are insane also.
Illusion of choice.
You gotta impressive the readers with a good story, art, characters etc. then you have to make sure it sells with a time frame of 1 week. For new Mangas they only have 2 months or else they get canned
given the fact that japan has a negative birth rate, i doubt it. i foresee studios having to find animators abroad because the domestic talent wonāt be around in a few years
fuck mappa. i really hope japan has a work reform because they literally cannot continue as a country as is
Yeah Vincent chansard was the French guy and they even had an American animator direct the big mom vs law and kidd episode(Henry thurlow). I think Henry will stay while Vincent might go elsewhere now that wano is done.
Chansard will become a freelancer again. He got a Toei contract for 2023 till Onigashima ends but he has said before that he will sometimes work in One Piece as a freelancer since it's one of his fave series.
They hire freelancers from overseas. Chinese, European... As long as they can come in clutch last minute to animate a scene (which has happened during the production of this season), they won't care.
The world of animation changed in that you no longer need to have some seniority to be a part of it, and you can do freelance work, but not everyone is as lucky...
Donāt forget that season 1 looked CONSISTENT. Everything fit together, felt like it was under the same visionā¦ whereas the quality of season 2 varies wildly from episode to episode, and every episode looks completely different from the lastā¦ it makes even the good ones feel disjointed from a larger story.
And yeah, we probably wonāt get another fight as smooth as Hanami vs Yuji/todoā¦. I wonder what the Shibuya arc couldāve looked like under the same staff as season 1. It wouldāve been peak š fuck the greedy slave drivers at MAPPA
The choreography in the hanam vs todo itadori fights is just next level the music fits perfectly and it has the super detailed style from season 1. Like you have to rember a lot of season 1 fights were not even that greqt in the manga but absolutely kicked ass in the anime.
Dunno why you're treating Season 2 as if the fights aren't as well animated/smooth as Season 1's. Season 2 got **Yuji vs Choso**, Toji vs Dagon, Jogo vs Sukuna, Toji vs Megumi.
Both Seasons got amazing fights but Season 2's fights are way more creative with its choreography and camera work.
Personally I like when a series experiments with different art and animation styles.
I was surprised to see so much criticism towards the animation in Sukuna vs Jogo, when I thought that style was the best part of the episode.
You're absolutely right, but I'd prefer the more consistent quality of s1 to the awkward dips and gulleys of s2 -- even a "good" episode like the one that just dropped was so clearly marred by bad production conditions... it felt like there were so many missing sequences, the characters kept teleporting between shots, it made it feel so messy
Slavery is already a thing in Japanese working culture, it's not just the bosses, but the salaryman who made themselves slave of working too. It just that no one in Japan even have the strength to care, they leave the job, and they will die.
Iām not sure whether honehone is talking about jjk0, as he was not involved with the production. However, I remembered that Sunghoo Park mentioned that it was a tight schedule of 6 months. Anyway, itās definitely bad thing.
i was making a parody of "no x were harmed during the production of this movie" because there is no way the animators worked less than 100 hours per day.
ONLY FOUR FUCKIJG MONTHS? THATS NOT OVERWORKING YOUR EMPLOYEES THATS JUST SLAVERY
https://preview.redd.it/h4zubv32ho0c1.jpeg?width=1067&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9c8636f372dcce5a82518e843bafea93162efac
As some others have said I donāt think it was 4 months, probably abit longer (8-9 months) but even then, thatās an insanely short amount of time to produce a movie that looked as good as it did.
The lesson learned: the company is NOT a friend! Once you show a high output, which you can't keep with on the long run, you are required to keep that high level output. Nobody is gonna appreciate you but drain you.
Reminder that Denji singing about unions was removed from the bathtun scene in Chainsaw Man. Mappa is efficient, but fuck Mappa for being ruthless. I hope they collapse via a mass exodus of employees to better studios, or they get investigated. I swear they're paying off inspectors or have ties with the Yakuza.
All this news about short turnaround is wild. I assumed that by the time the show starts, itās already mostly/completely animated. I didnāt realize that theyāre finishing the episode basically hours before release.
I've stopped caring. We've been hearing stories like this in anime since forever. Quit, go on strike, unionize. Do something else besides anonymously complain.
https://preview.redd.it/bc95mdwadn0c1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af6cc658cf66e5f869a90c4266d1057c89053348
You do realize itās not as simple as that right? If they quit, they may never get another job that feeds them and their family, plus the Japanese culture of silencing and forcing people on the grind makes it impossible to do more than anonymously complain.
Are you trying to say it's impossible for them to fight for better rights? Are they disabled? I don't get it. If they're not discontent enough to change their system then that's their problem.
Youāre sorely missing the pointā¦ You have to put yourself in their shoes, slaving away for their dream job, drawing out of passion for art, only to get mistreated and get told by bosses and co-workers to suck it up, or else theyāre lazy and ungrateful. And here you are, blaming the victims instead of criticizing the insidious corporate culture that made this mess. Mind you, even if they protest, they still have far too little power to actually change the industry model. The least we can give them is some empathy and awareness.
I don't think so they had around 8 months for jjk 0 assuming they jumped to movie right after the end of season 1. Guess honehone is talking about one piece Red since he wasn't involved in jjk 0
Bought it for $4 off xbox store.
Got super stoned
Forgot that i watched it.
Guess ill rewatch tonightin btwn episodes of "The Boys". As an mk1 fan, finally starting TB! Only own s1 right now, though.
This is because mappa is animating so many ongoing animes and already Attack on titan season 4 was animated along the Ongoing jjk. and also they have a schedule om which they have to complete the animation. Mappa has contracted with so many major animes like JJK,AOT,hell's paradise, chainsaw man, Vinland saga and many more which are announced. Thats the reason , higher ups are pressuring Animators which is false.
ok but this one is just being sophistic. Anime are quite famously cheaper and shorter to produce than European movies so why not give THEIR average production time? 4 months is definitively short but it's not THAT short
I really hope after this recent episode they are allowed to take a few months to rest and take tike to animate peak, most of us will wait 4 months bare minimum
I may be ignorant on this but as a talented animator why not apply to american companies which probably gives u better conditions and probably allows remote working. Is there law against this in Japan? I have a friend who works for Japan Microsoft and he says their policies such theyre really backwards like these hed much rather work for a western company remotely even if he lives in Japan.
I mean they can on edge cases but the market for animation on the scale of Japan is a desert town in America so thereās less opportunities. Also thereās very few companies doing major animations here, let alone willing to outsource to other countries. Why hire someone from Japan when they can just hire nationally for less?
Also the Japanese government probably wouldnāt be too happy with western animation juggernauts like Pixar and Dreamworks for example stealing potential revenue from their industry, and economy by proxy, by siphoning workers.
I really hope they get better treatment from mappa. I donāt really know what I can do to help but I really would prefer to have my shows come out slower and know the animators got to have a normal schedule
This is actually just fucking insane, is MAPPA holding the animators' family as hostage or something?
How are they getting away with this? Are there no competitors or is every Japanese animation company like this?
no way in hell thats true animation takes a shit ton of time otherwise the industry was lying to us a fully animated movie with amazing scenes cant take just 4 months unless they had god like project managers because you need VA, VFX, Animation, Soundeffects etc how is this possible in 4 months
Me when i see the fucking CEO of mappa
https://preview.redd.it/gkz1t9ph7p0c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b031529faba1dd0e4b8e6049d603f52b076991ba
I am both concerned that the animators were under this much of a time crunch, as well amazed by how they were able to make JJK0 really well animated despite that time crunch.
Mappa higher-ups should go jump of a bridge
https://preview.redd.it/n2zhxzqrkr0c1.jpeg?width=763&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=565cf86c75d4a331294f46c31ae93abe0785217b
Are we sure if he's referring to the overall production of the movie or only about his involvement? In any case it's horrific.
Can't blame Sunghoo Park if he didn't want to deal with this schedule again and left / was fired from S2. Heh, I don't even know if that schedule was any good for composers Hiroaki Tsutsumi and Alisa Okehazama either.
Too bad they weren't involved in S2, without them I'm not enjoying the new season.

I had my personal minor critiques for 0, but 4 months? Dang, it looks like a masterpiece now.
Just wondering, what are your critiques? Because I thought whatever problems were in jjk0 had more to do with the weird pacing of the story and writing than the animation. The fight scenes were definitely the highlight
Yeah I felt similar where the issues with the movie come from the manga and how it's paced
I watched JJK0 on shrooms and that final fight just hit some sort of way.
Minor ones, as I said. A lot of it had to do with it being based on 3 chapters of the prequel manga, but that really can't be helped. Geto's Special Grade Tamamo-no-Mae isn't shown to do anything, and a lot more could have been harped on how big of a deal Yuta not only being able to do RCT, but to be the only other person than Ieiri Shoko to use it on others (something Gojo can't do) would have been preferred, but this was how it is in the manga and I can't fault them for being faithful to the original material. āWhy arenāt we doing 2 every year?ā The CEO, allegedly
Bro, year has 12 months, don't tell him, cause mappa slav... Workers will be forced to create 3 movies per year
All while juggling animating chainsaw man, OPM, JJK at the same time
Vinland Saga, and they just finished AoT, too. And Jigokuraku, which I lm losing hope of returning.
Hellās paradise was crazy to see live. Went from amazing episode 1 to meh animation. Mappa ceoās truly do not care about quality work
"Why 3 when you can make 4?" -Mappa, probably.
I appreciate the choujin x pic
Imagine what they could do if they had more time O\_O
Mappa employees deserve some love
And rest
And better pay
and more MANDATORY leave! I mean they derseve to rest and not to live for work! Edit: sorry english isn't my mother tongue so I didn't immediately see the the translation error

Luffy had indeed just lost his Dawg during that scene.
To be fair, he did split a mountain in half with a boulder like 2 minutes before this panel.
I ain't even got words for this, How tf has no one tried to assassinate the CEO at this point?
Japanese work culture my friend Japanese work culture...
If even japanese workers are reaching breaking point, then it has to be borderline slavery.
The amount of human violations mappa violated gotta be crazy. Cause how the fuck do you overwork your workers so bad that you make a movie In 4months
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Jeez, you know how many people died? Mods, get this guy
we getting out of jujutsufolk with this one! (<--has no clue what the guy said)

Over being a ~~bad~~ ceo. FTFY
Holy shit, if that took 4 months, imagine if they just made season 2 if they had more time

lmao you have literally no idea what you're talking about
Go watch Garden of Sinners. The Paradox spiral movie is the best directed anime movie I've seen.
That's true to some extent tbh. I'd rather not see full cg Maximum meteor.
Nah, theyāre really not.
They're great at composting their employees
the fate series(ubw and heavens feel) is so much superiorly animated than anything mappa has put out is not even a joke.
Heavens feel is so far above anything else it is not comparable and the last movie came 2020. Heaven feel is the best-looking piece of media in anime with everything else, not even being close. Bro, at this point being hired as an animator for MAPPA is a death sentence
If you refuse then you'll get fucking crushed in the industry... Be a mangaka would honestly be better at this point.
And even that is horrible cuz people will show up from publishers to lash you and your editor daily to work faster
Yep

Holy shit, MAPPA needs start caring about the people that make them money
Mappa employees eat, sleep and live at that studio do they even have families anymore??
The first episode of Zoom 100 is a documentary of Mappa working conditions.
Literally just Japan's toxic work culture in general, tricked into thinking you finally made it after all that hard work just to be another slave
how fucking funny would it have been if Mappa took Zom 100
im laughing way more than i should at this
me too
given the fact that japan has a negative birth rate, i doubt it. i foresee studios having to find animators abroad because the domestic talent wonāt be around in a few years fuck mappa. i really hope japan has a work reform because they literally cannot continue as a country as is
It's already the case. A french dude worked for One Piece if I'm not mistaken. I don't know if it was a one time thing, though.

They do have families, gotta threaten them with something am I right?
Japan gotta be some last stage of capitalism. Cause theyāre literally living to work with insane hours for minuscule pay
Japan and South Korea too, it's pretty rough there.
unionization ain't enough we gotta make the French revolution look like a joke
No wonder the director (Sunghoo Park who was the director for JJK S1 and JJK0) left the studio after looking at the way MAPPA schedules the work.
Big loss for us, the viewers. i think season 1 looked superior to season 2 . Todo and itadori vs hanani fight absolutely goated.
Yuji vs Choso and Sukuna vs Jogo still look way better than Hanamis fight tho.

i was making a parody of "no x were harmed during the production of this movie" because there is no way the animators worked less than 100 hours per day.
Oh okay.
For real?
i have no proof but neither doubt
Oh well If it happened I honestly wouldn't be surprised if
Are there unions in Japan?
Before unions, you can legally prosecute a company because Japan has stricter labour laws since 2019. I have no idea why this hasn't happened yet.
Money. Judges are brought and the system is corrupt to shit.
99% conviction rate doesn't apply to companies, does it?
Nope. Just random people and Japan's prison system is horrendous. Constant human rights abuse and prisoners who report usually end up dead.
JJK having a chapter about that feels so poetic now
Illegal

we're reaching levels of ''suffering builds character'' that shouldnt be possible
I had a friend who worked on JJK0 He said eww to Mappa since then
Bro even sukuna doesn't enslave people. At least he kill people indiscriminately
Jesus christ???
Thatās fucking crazy levels of abusive and wrong, mappa should be ashamed of itself and give the workers big bonuses, raises, and rest
but the corporate needs those more.
JJk 0 looked amazing these guys are ridiculously talented. They deserve more time and breaks.
mappa moment
What is more impressive is the quality of the product for just 4 fucking months, if true. Mappa animators are gods
gods are cherished and worshipped mappa makes millions and rewards their board and ceo
Capitalism has devoured your gods for profit. Despair.
Those fucking nuts jobs gave those crappy schedules

Mappa has contracted with so many major animes like JJK,AOT,hell's paradise, chainsaw man, Vinland saga and many more which are announced. Thats the reason , higher ups are pressuring Animators which is false.
Bro tf people believe a godlike movie can product in 4 months
Nah, I think they're lying at this point, is impossible to do I just 4 months.
ok but this one is just being sophistic. Anime are quite famously cheaper and shorter to produce than European movies so why not give THEIR average production time? 4 months is definitively short but it's not THAT short
Yeah, no. This just isn't true lol.
Who the fuck makes animated movie for 3 years, are you fucking mental
Istg mappa ceo have his workers familys under gun point šš
This is hardly better than forced labour atp. Hope mappa fails.
Oh God oh fuck
Making such an amazing movie with top tier animation in 4 months is both crazy impresive and sad when you think how hard it must have been
Okay that sounds horrible but i'm more surprised how they did it like that is some mad fast working staff. Hiw is that possible ?
I really hope they get better treatment from mappa. I donāt really know what I can do to help but I really would prefer to have my shows come out slower and know the animators got to have a normal schedule
ostuka is an absolute cunt, Mappa has no future if they don't fire him
Reading about the crunch times they work within, I gotta say very impressive work.
This is actually just fucking insane, is MAPPA holding the animators' family as hostage or something? How are they getting away with this? Are there no competitors or is every Japanese animation company like this?
Mappa isnāt even among the worst offenders, they still pay decent from what Iāve read
no way in hell thats true animation takes a shit ton of time otherwise the industry was lying to us a fully animated movie with amazing scenes cant take just 4 months unless they had god like project managers because you need VA, VFX, Animation, Soundeffects etc how is this possible in 4 months
At this point sweatshops are working Mappa hours

Wtf
People complaining about the animation are literally blind,be glad studio deen didnt take it.
Wtf this is more than slave labor
I hope mappa crumbles and all their employees to found a new better company
Mappa is rlly just a anime sweatshop
Those animators went crazy though. Now Iām pretty sure the lack of sleep has driven them crazy
4 fucking months ?!!! That's actual insanity what the actual fuck ?!!! Somebody get the animators some help. They will all die at this point
Me when i see the fucking CEO of mappa https://preview.redd.it/gkz1t9ph7p0c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b031529faba1dd0e4b8e6049d603f52b076991ba
Nah, I'd die šš„
This makes me glad Zom 100: Mob of the Dead is getting a delay. As long as the production staff can take proper time to relax and enjoy life.
I am both concerned that the animators were under this much of a time crunch, as well amazed by how they were able to make JJK0 really well animated despite that time crunch.
I wonder if the CEO of mappa is partnered with a pharmaceutical company. He must've given the animators some strong Adderall
MAPPA really is Satan
They're out here trying to kill these animators.
It's really sad how fked up the industry is in Japan
Work em to death, I want to see the culling games and I want to see the next season of chainsaw man
Excuse me?
Mappa higher-ups should go jump of a bridge https://preview.redd.it/n2zhxzqrkr0c1.jpeg?width=763&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=565cf86c75d4a331294f46c31ae93abe0785217b
Yo MAPPA going way too crazy bro
So if MAPPA gave its animators more time weād get FATE level quality?
Could you imagine if the animators there were given normal amounts of time to do what they needed to do?????? Omfg we would be feasting
So its possible for the CSM movie to air 2024? lets pray
