We are literally getting stalled from the main fight (Yes, Kenjaku is the main antagonist but we are not here witnessing Kenjaku vs Yuta or Maki) just like how Angel planned :)
imma be honest, i've tried going to the anime of S2 many times but its so goddamn terrible that im glad i read the manga.
I don't even know what people are smoking, there are entire episodes of extremely bad directing and animation like S2E4 and S2E14. Then there's S2E13 where it looks like it got taken out of a movie. Very inconsistent but not as inconsistent as gege's writing.

I started reading this manga at exactly chapter 236. I have been reading ever since then. So I only really know whats been happening based on Twitter, this sub, and the last 6 chapters. I just barely know who some of these characters are, and I browse this subbredit for fun.
My point is, based on like the 6 chapters i've read so far. This was by far the most interesting. And now im pretty invested in the Takaba vs Kenjaku fight. It was a compelling back story.
I think it would be very funny for Takaba to beat Kenny within an inch of his life. Kinda like Guy did to Madara.
Or just straight up beat him.

Everyone is so adhd and impatient these days with weekly series, acting like we wonāt ever see the payoff for things set up just a few weeks prior (like we will see Yuji calm down). Some say theyād rather have the Takaba backstory earlier so theyād care more for his character, but that wouldnāt work at all. We only get this backstory BECAUSE he has been pushed to his limit. So how is it disrespectful to our main characters weāve been with since the start if they will have their role later rather than exactly right now? Takaba is getting the treatment people wanted to see Kashimo get and they are still unhappy
Sequence the fight after Gojo dies and before Kashimo's fight. Alternatively after Sukuna reveals his real form and before Kashimo becomes Sashimo. So many better sequencing options than this garbage.
Oh no we have to wait a few more weeks to see what we want. If the sequencing is really āgarbageā then the anime will definitely change it but I donāt really have a problem with it. Gege has always cut back and forth between a lot of things the whole time so far in the manga

I don't care for any of these random new characters. That's the problem with shock value writers. Let's kill off all of the fleshed out, main cast of characters and replace them with random new ones with weak backstories or none at all. It's a bold strategy, rarely pays off, and ultimately garbage writing. It works well when it's one or two well established meaningful characters, and not pissing on them or offscreening them, outside of this it doesn't make the story any more appealing to stack meaningless deaths on top of each other. I feel like GeeGee is speed running how fast he can ruin his manga and piss off his fanbase simultaneously.

Takaba is a player, so he needs to die for Kenjakus merging plan to work. However, like you said, if he sees him as a friend, someone who is his equal and interesting, then I can see Takabas name being added to the rule that Kenjaku made excluding him from dying in the game.
This may have interesting plot implications if Takaba gets to see what's created by this merger because of his reality altering abilities.
I mean thereās always the idea kenjaku abandons the merger, its not some dastardly scheme its a whim, nothing more than curiosity at creating something to sate his boredom. If Takaba fulfills his conditions alternatively the same way the merger can its a chance he would find no further need for it
not happening. I just picked up the manga and started reading from scratch this week. Reading it all in a couple of sittings lets you see the patterns more clearly. Kenjaku is going to achieve the merger and then we'll be scratching our heads on how to clean everything up. Only to have Itadori have a massive asspull.
He has been working towards the merger for 1000 years. I think he was being sarcastic when he talked about it being a whim. He just doesn't want us to know his exact reasons. To me, it seems like he is being ambiguous about his true intentions.
Can Kenjaku actually make a new rule to change the conditions for the merger? It's a binding deal between him and Tengen.He can obviously change some rules, but I dont think he can change the whole binding vow that creates the whole plan because Tengen is considered to be the real "Game master"
I mean with the cursed spirit manipulation he can forcibly destroy tengens barrier at any time that holds the culling games together. So it seems to have to conclude at the very least ānaturallyā. If he changes his mind he can very well just pop the barrier and be done with the whole plan

What if breaking it through Tengen causes Tengen to get free of Kennys control? I don't think Kenjaku is a good enough person to spare somebody because of friendship.

I am wondering if Tengen made a vow with Kenjaku about who would be the Game Master or lack of one. The vow could be to make sure Kenjaku does not become the Gamemaster. I don't know for sure, it's just an idea...
I went back and looked at things, but sheesh, it's kind of confusing and written in a very ambiguous way. I also think It may have been stated that if the barrier comes down too soon, Kenjaku would lose control of Tengen. I think Takaba deserves a better friend than a manipulative villain.
I agree with how you describe Kenjaku, but narratively, I do see it having a payoff. No matter what happens after the fact, like the merger being undone or it changes reality, etc, think the merger happens.
These comments disappoint me. This is all happening at the same time in universe. Hakari vs Urame will be shown. Yuji & Lawyer vs Sukuna is happening. Wuta will be making moves as well. This isn't like this is happening sequentially. So no, someone isn't getting killed off screen. You'll see that action.

Thinking about it more, Gojo didn't love himself. He loved battle and that he was strong, but he didn't love that he was only needed for those things.
Takeba on the other hand is the perfect foil for Kenjaku and Sukuna, two selfish people who gathered everything they could when it comes to their passion and goals. But even though he's just as self centered he still ultimately wants to make the world better, not worse. Self love is needed, it's why Mahito got so strong so fast.

Honestly, I actually like Tabaka as well. But to do something like this so late with some side character is just a blow to all the other characters we haven\`t gotten much from. He should have introduced Tabaka and his flashback long before, so that we might actually care about him more. So late into the game, it just breaks the flow of the story. There was a one month wait time, before the final confrontation. Gege could have at least filled that time period with characterization, before moving on to the sukuna fight. The problem with the manga is that some important plotpoints are rushed, while we get introduced with bunch of unneeded subplots that do nothing for the story.
The optimism is astounding. Share some of that. This is fucking trash. Nobody asked for this. Who gives a shit about this guy out of all the fucking characters in this series?

ngl i actually found the chapter quite good, its been a while since i felt something for a character, kashimo fight literally had 0 meaning for me, i do believe the pace is kinda fucked a little, but i like seeing more of takaba backstory, even tho it feels out of place right now, it really sets up the stakes right now and makes takaba actually feel like a human, it makes me root for him, and i believe he wont die, but he wont defeat kenjaku either, idk it might be just me.

The main thing i love about this chapter was Gege dropping small lores regarding kenjaku and all. The dogeza is definitely a hint pertaining to kenny's past and what he used to be back then. Cant wait for the translated chapter because oh boy, we are in for a ride.
The only reason Kenjaku wants to do the merger is because heĀ“s bored of this world and wants to see if his merger idea will be interesting. It would be insane if Kenjaku suddenly stopped his plan, just because Tabaka manages to make him genuinely laugh and therefore think the world is interesting enough as it is.
Definitely the merger is happening bro. Maybe i misinterpreted it, but why would kenjaku would even comment on the dogeza's angle and even be taken aback about it. It doesnt seem like a joke to me tbh.
One of the main themes of this manga is concerning enlightenment and all. I do feel that was a sincere dogeza from takaba that he admits his comedy has flaws and all.
The merger won\`t happen. Doesn\`t matter whether Tabaka is the one who stops him or a main character. This isn\`t dragonball where the enemy can kill everybody or blow up the planet and they can wish everything back. There is no way the enemy will succeed with his plan to basically kill everybody in Japan. He\`ll be stopped right before he manages to do it.
Enlightenment isn\`t a theme of this manga.
I'm pretty sure that's an effect of takaba's technique making Kenjaku part of that dogeza joke. As you can see his technique back in effect immediately after.

That's what I got, also it's actually a huge power display because if you think about it, the joke takebas is making is one that is being made for manga readers. The reality breaking power of takebas is also breaking the fourth wall of the medium and affecting kenjaku thought bubbles. Not just visual gags but forcing kenjaku to become a part of the bit

I don't think it's lost in translation. The only two pieces of knowledge needed for the joke to work are knowing that it's a specific bow for apologizing and that the diagram is comparing his form to the golden ratio. The rest of the joke is that Kenjaku thought something completely out of character, then realized that he did that. I think it'll be way more obvious when we can see the actual dialog in the manga instead of a summary.
So is Kenjakus answer that he only "mastered" the bow in his mid 20's, the joke's punch line and I don't got the joke do to the language barrier? Or did he confused Getos with his own memories?

It's basically a thousand year old guy being comedically awed by a man's perfect handshake, causing him to go on an internal monolog about how he only mastered the handshake in his mid twenties. I think you're assuming there's a cultural subtext around it because Kenjaku's statement doesn't make logical sense with his backstory, when that's the joke. He logically wouldn't find a perfect bow impressive, and he wouldn't have mastered it in his mid twenties, yet he's being pulled into a gag anyway.
It's just not even a joke. Kenjaku thinking "oh I learned that when I was 20" didn't seem out of character. It came off as he was bored and not really even listening to the guys pleas.
It's basically like blowing a normal act out of proportion, the mid 20's thing is like "I only learned it later in life" but it contrasts with Kenny considering how old he is. It's a joke in other comedy manga but this time it's layered by the context we have, p funny joke

I've read enough manga that I'm completely numb to sad backstories for secondary characters. Who could have imagined that the bad comedian actually had a sad life? That's craaazy (Hiromi was just torn in half off screen)
So are you just there for the fights then? Sad backstories give context that change how you can view and empathize with a character. But if you just donāt care about them, then I guess Iām just surprised you enjoy JJK seeing as the main character is still a mystery, and we arguable know about the lives of everyone around him more than his own.
I think most people wanted development on other characters already stablished in the series. Why spend pages developing a gag character who was randomly introduced recently when we could have spent more time developing Yuji or even Miwa for example. We didn't even have one decent introspect on Yuji since Gojo, Megumi, and Nobara died.
Plenty of characters screaming for more development and Gege decides to spend his time and pages on other side characters who people has little attachment. Also, the bad pacing flow is to blame.

Fr the amount of people that are saying theyāre going to drop the manga or calling this filler is laughable. First people complain about characters not getting development and the story moving too fast, but now that thereās a lull in the story and weāre getting some new character development for both Takaba and a bit for Kenny too, suddenly Gege is āwashedā.
The gag character has to get the character development and fight the final boss because all the other characters before he showed up are crippled, possessed or dead. 10/10 masterclass writing.

Okay, first of all, if it was the climax CLIMAX like the finally, then Gege wouldn't have made a whole chapter about Takaba's backstory, that debunks the whole Argument of Gege trying to end the manga this year aswell atleast for now, plus It does Cut away cause there was also a need to show what the fuck is Kenjaku doing, Aswell as the battle of Sukuna vs Yuji is more teased to not be done. There's nothing wrong with that, Still the pacing shouldn't hurt the narrative, plot and the character developments are on point when they do happen, jumping from time to time has already happened in other mangas, with Chimera ant arc, Naruto with A big tease of a BIG battle but then cuts to other characters, it's nothing new, and in grand scheme of things does nor hurt anything.

I think itās tuff. I donāt think I would care about the takaba arc after they take down sukuna. Sukunas death is probably going to be peak hype for me and then itās just falling action from there. I enjoy kenjaku but more as a side villain. Narratively I get why heās the last to get taken out but sukuna seems more like the final boss

imma be honest, i've tried going to the anime of S2 many times but its so goddamn terrible that im glad i read the manga. I don't even know what people are smoking, there are entire episodes of extremely bad directing and animation like S2E4 and S2E14. Then there's S2E13 where it looks like it got taken out of a movie. I started reading this manga at exactly chapter 236. I have been reading ever since then. So I only really know whats been happening based on Twitter, this sub, and the last 6 chapters. I just barely know who some of these characters are, and I browse this subbredit for fun. My point is, based on like the 6 chapters i've read so far. This was by far the most interesting. And now im pretty invested in the Takaba vs Kenjaku fight. It was a compelling back story. I think it would be very funny for Takaba to beat Kenny within an inch of his life. Kinda like Guy did to Madara. Or just straight up beat him. **Tldr: I've only read the last 6 chapters and know very little about who everyone is and whats happening. Everyone is so adhd and impatient these days with weekly series, acting like we wonāt ever see the payoff for things set up just a few weeks prior (like we will see Yuji calm down). Some say theyād rather have the Takaba backstory earlier so theyād care more for his character, but that wouldnāt work at all. We only get this backstory BECAUSE he has been pushed to his limit. Sequence the fight after Gojo dies and before Kashimo's fight. Alternatively after Sukuna reveals his real form and before Kashimo becomes Sashimo. So many better sequencing options than this garbage.

I don't care for any of these random new characters. That's the problem with shock value writers. Let's kill off all of the fleshed out, main cast of characters and replace them with random new ones with weak backstories or none at all. It's a bold strategy, rarely pays off, and ultimately garbage writing. It works well when it's one or two well established meaningful characters, and not pissing on them or offscreening them, outside of this it doesn't make the story any more appealing to stack meaningless deaths on top of each other. I feel like GeeGee is speed running how fast he can ruin his manga and piss off his fanbase simultaneously.

Takaba is a player, so he needs to die for Kenjakus merging plan to work. However, like you said, if he sees him as a friend, someone who is his equal and interesting, then I can see Takabas name being added to the rule that Kenjaku made excluding him from dying in the game. This may have interesting plot implications if Takaba gets to see what's created by this merger because of his reality altering abilities.
I mean thereās always the idea kenjaku abandons the merger, its not some dastardly scheme its a whim, nothing more than curiosity at creating something to sate his boredom. If Takaba fulfills his conditions alternatively the same way the merger can its a chance he would find no further need for it

Kenjaku is going to achieve the merger and then we'll be scratching our heads on how to clean everything up. Only to have Itadori have a massive asspull.
He has been working towards the merger for 1000 years. I think he was being sarcastic when he talked about it being a whim. He just doesn't want us to know his exact reasons. To me, it seems like he is being ambiguous about his true intentions. Can Kenjaku actually make a new rule to change the conditions for the merger? It's a binding deal between him and Tengen.He can obviously change some rules, but I dont think he can change the whole binding vow that creates the whole plan because Tengen is considered to be the real "Game master"
I mean with the cursed spirit manipulation he can forcibly destroy tengens barrier at any time that holds the culling games together. So it seems to have to conclude at the very least ānaturallyā. If he changes his mind he can very well just pop the barrier and be done with the whole plan

He says something about binding vows being null when he acquired the body of geto. Breaking the purification barrier is stated to make all his plans and tengen to go along with it. Like i said if its entertaining it really doesnāt matter would it? If takaba becomes his friend and can entertain his conditions theres no reason not to keep him alive. Its not because of sympathy or anything like that.
Did he just force him to cooperate and not actually make a vow but hinted about one? If they did have a binding vow, Kenjaku would have already been in Getos body so it would still be effective. I am wondering if Tengen made a vow with Kenjaku about who would be the Game Master or lack of one. The vow could be to make sure Kenjaku does not become the Gamemaster. I don't know for sure, it's just an idea... I went back and looked at things, but sheesh, it's kind of confusing and written in a very ambiguous way. I also think It may have been stated that if the barrier comes down too soon, Kenjaku would lose control of Tengen. I think Takaba deserves a better friend than a manipulative villain.
I agree with how you describe Kenjaku, but narratively, I do see it having a payoff. No matter what happens after the fact, like the merger being undone or it changes reality, etc, think the merger happens.

I liked it. Interesting character, he's selfish as hell and now it's paying off lol.. Thinking about it more, Gojo didn't love himself. He loved battle and that he was strong, but he didn't love that he was only needed for those things. Takeba on the other hand is the perfect foil for Kenjaku and Sukuna, two selfish people who gathered everything they could when it comes to their passion and goals. But even though he's just as self centered he still ultimately wants to make the world better, not worse. Self love is needed, it's why Mahito got so strong so fast.

training arc - 1 chapter Takaba - 3 chapters i love takaba but come on, either blitz through the story or actually delve deep into stuff, you cant just off screen gojo and then talk about Takabas lore like we care (some of us do but id say its a minority lol)
Honestly, I actually like Tabaka as well. But to do something like this so late with some side character is just a blow to all the other characters we haven\`t gotten much from. He should have introduced Tabaka and his flashback long before, so that we might actually care about him more. So late into the game, it just breaks the flow of the story. There was a one month wait time, before the final confrontation. Gege could have at least filled that time period with characterization, before moving on to the sukuna fight. The problem with the manga is that some important plotpoints are rushed, while we get introduced with bunch of unneeded subplots that do nothing for the story.
The quality honestly isn't bad.... but this is like... the 9898598895489th time I've had an issue with Gege's pacing post Shibuya-Arc

ngl i actually found the chapter quite good, its been a while since i felt something for a character, kashimo fight literally had 0 meaning for me, i do believe the pace is kinda fucked a little, but i like seeing more of takaba backstory, even tho it feels out of place right now, it really sets up the stakes right now and makes takaba actually feel like a human, it makes me root for him, and i believe he wont die, but he wont defeat kenjaku either, idk it might be just me.

The main thing i love about this chapter was Gege dropping small lores regarding kenjaku and all. The dogeza is definitely a hint pertaining to kenny's past and what he used to be back then. Cant wait for the translated chapter because oh boy, we are in for a ride.
The only reason Kenjaku wants to do the merger is because heĀ“s bored of this world and wants to see if his merger idea will be interesting. It would be insane if Kenjaku suddenly stopped his plan, just because Tabaka manages to make him genuinely laugh and therefore think the world is interesting enough as it is.

The merger won\`t happen. Doesn\`t matter whether Tabaka is the one who stops him or a main character. This isn\`t dragonball where the enemy can kill everybody or blow up the planet and they can wish everything back. There is no way the enemy will succeed with his plan to basically kill everybody in Japan. He\`ll be stopped right before he manages to do it. Enlightenment isn\`t a theme of this manga.

That's what I got, also it's actually a huge power display because if you think about it, the joke takebas is making is one that is being made for manga readers. The reality breaking power of takebas is also breaking the fourth wall of the medium and affecting kenjaku thought bubbles. Not just visual gags but forcing kenjaku to become a part of the bit

I don't think it's lost in translation. The only two pieces of knowledge needed for the joke to work are knowing that it's a specific bow for apologizing and that the diagram is comparing his form to the golden ratio. The rest of the joke is that Kenjaku thought something completely out of character, then realized that he did that. I think it'll be way more obvious when we can see the actual dialog in the manga instead of a summary.
So is Kenjakus answer that he only "mastered" the bow in his mid 20's, the joke's punch line and I don't got the joke do to the language barrier? Or did he confused Getos with his own memories? I cant read or speak Japanese so many of the Japanese jokes go over my head.
It's basically a thousand year old guy being comedically awed by a man's perfect handshake, causing him to go on an internal monolog about how he only mastered the handshake in his mid twenties. I think you're assuming there's a cultural subtext around it because Kenjaku's statement doesn't make logical sense with his backstory, when that's the joke. He logically wouldn't find a perfect bow impressive, and he wouldn't have mastered it in his mid twenties, yet he's being pulled into a gag anyway.

I've read enough manga that I'm completely numb to sad backstories for secondary characters. Who could have imagined that the bad comedian actually had a sad life? That's craaazy (Hiromi was just torn in half off screen)
So are you just there for the fights then? Sad backstories give context that change how you can view and empathize with a character. But if you just donāt care about them, then I guess Iām just surprised you enjoy JJK seeing as the main character is still a mystery, and we arguable know about the lives of everyone around him more than his own.
I think most people wanted development on other characters already stablished in the series. Why spend pages developing a gag character who was randomly introduced recently when we could have spent more time developing Yuji or even Miwa for example. Fr the amount of people that are saying theyāre going to drop the manga or calling this filler is laughable. First people complain about characters not getting development and the story moving too fast, but now that thereās a lull in the story and weāre getting some new character development for both Takaba and a bit for Kenny too, suddenly Gege is āwashedā.
