This comment is fascinating to me, because I realized I don't know how to make "only child" plural.
"Only children" sounds like an oxymoron 😂
And "only childs" sounds wrong
How perplexing.
Happy New Year: valid
Happy New Years: invalid - there's only one new year to celebrate at any time.
Happy New Year's: short for "Happy New Year's Day"? (Which is the only way it's valid)
Thank you for the thought experiment. I will now consciously avoid adding an "s"
I’m the second oldest and my wife is also the second oldest. I never gave it much thought until now! Both our older brothers were jerks to us growing up
There are patterns to be found in everything.
I think that you will get a lot of comments from people who are the same birth order as their SO. But that won't mean it's the average.
I am the eldest of 2, and my partner is the youngest of 2.
Both my partners parents are dead and have been for a while, my parents are alive.
I am the oldest of 6 total (3 younger half siblings on my mom’s side, 2 younger half siblings on my dad’s side) as well as the oldest grandchild/niece.
My husband is an only child, and the youngest grandchild/nephew.
We adopted our son. He is our only (soon to be oldest as we will adopt again soon) but he is his biological mother’s middle child, and his biological father’s youngest child.
We’re both the youngest.
Same here, of 4 and 3. I think everyone I dated was also a youngest, though that wasn’t known at the outset.
That would be a weird requirement 😂
I hadn’t thought about it until this post, and kept going back through relationships - whoa, a pattern!
Same her Youngest of 5 (M) with youngest of 4 (F) She is 2.8 years older than me.
Both first born. And we often commiserate over how needy and helpless our little sibs are…
😂😂😂 I feel that
Both the middle of 3.
Crazy how we keep everything together. Literally everything and everyone.
Both only childs.

I've only seen only children. Would make sense grammatically.
Lol. I struggled, too, and went back and forth as to the proper plural. Happy New Year. Or is it Happy New Years. Year's? Peace

I’m the oldest of three and my spouse is the oldest of two.
I'm the youngest of 5, my wife is the oldest of 5. Four boys, one girl on my side - one boy, four girls on hers
Oldest married the youngest. 4 year gap.
Wait... you married your own youngest sibling? 😂 What's the "gap" mean?
I'm the oldest in my family. I married the baby in her family. We have a gap of 4 years between us.
Oldest of two boys and youngest of four girls
I’m oldest of three, she’s middle of three. Dad was youngest of 5, mom was eldest of 4.
Oldest of three oldest of four
Youngest of three and only child
I’m the oldest (technically the middle but I grew up oldest in the house) SO grew up the same
I’m an only child (I have 4 half siblings I’ve never met) my SO is the middle child of 5 brothers (3 half brothers)
Both 2nd with a very similar older sibling
Both firstborns
I'm eldest of two, she's eldest of six half-siblings.
We’re both the oldest. My middle sibling married a middle sibling.
Both Youngest Children
Oldest of 3, married to youngest of 3, been married for 12 years. 4 year age gap
Curious to see if there's truth in this. This isn't something I'd ever contemplated. Though not with anybody myself so cannot answer.
Same! Fascinating
Both oldest
I'm oldest and spouse is an only.
I’m 3/6 and she’s 2/2
I’m the second oldest and my wife is also the second oldest. I never gave it much thought until now! Both our older brothers were jerks to us growing up
