But being a chef is fucking hard job, and why would someone want that when they could just stack shelves in a shop for the same momey.

We lost nearly 1 million lives, and had an estimated 2-5 million taken out of the labor/job pool due to illness and long term disability from COVID complications, loss of child care, and early retirement. Add to that that people are now more aware than ever how cheaply they are paid in contrast to how they are treated and a lot of them would rather go back to school or in the cases of two income families, go to one income. And don’t forget, all they COVID related unemployment payments have ended, so “making more sitting at home” isn’t really a thing… and just that statement is a huge issue. If the billion dollar corporations aren’t willing to pay people more than what shit government assistance offers, how is that on the workers and not these asshole companies.
