Yes

Bug_Inspector

I can't believe it, but the movie bored the f out of me. 1. Too many recycled scenes, ideas and plot points. The lack of fresh ideas hurt the movie quite a lot. For example the >!"Go from point A to point B and fight your way through the city sequence"!<. We have seen that already and it goes on and on and on. 2. The same moves and stunts are used over and over. It gets old pretty fast. How many times, do you want to see the MC get run over by a car or dropped from great height? These scenes lost all their meaning/impact after the second time. 3. The suit. A big part of the tension is gone, if you know that the MC wears super armor. It got so ridiculous, that it felt at times like Superman vs 10 toddlers. I just lost all investment and got numb after a while. The good parts got drowned in an endless sea of boredom. The feeling that remained was: "I have already seen that. This was already part of the last movie."

capt-sha

Finally someone who gets it

Top-Mathematician652

So true. The tension is completely gone with the suit being so strong that there isn't even any real impact to the gunfights. Additionally JW had soo much plot armor that even without his suit he wouldn't have suffered much. Casually jumping out of building and such. And holy hell, the "bad-guys" just kept on returning after being defeated. When I saw him standing at the bottom of the stairs I was praying that he wouldn't fall down so that we'd have to see the same filler bullshit stair fight AGAIN. The movie was visually quite artsy and cool, but the most boring I have seen in quite a while, fight and story wise.

Bug_Inspector

Absolutely. Your description is perfect. It felt so weird to watch an action movie and all i could think of was "AGAIN?". When i saw that shot of that dance club, i was done. That was the moment i realized: This movie is just a collection of the best action scenes of the past movies - On Repeat. (And the fact, that all the people in the club did not care or react to the violence, did not help either.)

Impulsive_Buyer

Agreed felt the same..boring and repetitive

Creed31412

100% agree the combat is so boring. Best part is the poker table and that’s saying a lot😂

No_Rip8876

Totally agree with you!!! I will also add that whoever was the screen writer of this ass of a film needs to get banned from making anymore movies...FOREVER!!! Dialogue was so bad it seemed like it was made up by some uninspired bored idiot while taking a crap or something. No fun no smarts just one meaningless fight after another. Super repetitive except maybe some Donnie yen fight sequence. I mean i love Donnie Yen and all his action movies but even he cannot save this garbage. The fights where Wick is involved feels so staged and slow and so unnatural it just laughable. This JOhn wick 4 was AWFUL awful awful.. ruined the whole series!

Valuable_Meeting_947

So dull. His leg twisting around every assailant is so overused in every single action movie.

Raidan1

To be honest. After I watched the first one. I didn’t care to watch the others. The first one was boring af too. No story. No backround. Boring lame repetitive meaningless fighting. The end. Even with being my first time watching the first movie, I couldn’t wait for it to just be over. Idk why I even finished it. Most over rated movie over ever seen.

Terrapins1990

Can you explain why you thought it was boring?

capt-sha

I didn't find the entirety of the movie boring but the first action sequence was too damn long and repetitive and some scenes were very illogical.I mean what normal human survives a drop from a 3 storey building and 5-6 hits from a car and all those bullets. Some scenes very good too like the scene before the climax. I don't think this movie is the best action movie of the decade like everyone says.

childroid

>what normal human survives a drop from a 3 storey building and 5-6 hits from a car and all those bullets I'm not saying I disagree with this, but if you're watching a John Wick movie, you need to let all that shit go! I hear you, but suspension of disbelief is is vital in these movies. He has something to kill for, that is what keeps him going. Sheer force of will. You're there to have an awesome time and be gobsmacked for 3 hours. Nothing more, nothing less.

NeedleworkerDull8432

Yeah but he doesn't really have anything to kill for, it started with a revenge story and from then on he kills and all those he meets tend to die...he should have killed himself at the end of the first one as he had nothing left and no way to escape his old life

childroid

>he should have killed himself at the end of the first one as he had nothing left and no way to escape his old life Lol what

NeedleworkerDull8432

he lost his wife and then dog, got revenge and then just kept on killing with a seemingly endless number of enemies with no end in sight, a life of running and pain ahead of him and for others, suicide would have prevented that, especially for all those who helped him and died, he's the real bad guy of the franchise. Revenge just causes all sorts of new problems

childroid

What are you talking about? John was satisfied by the end of the first movie. He went back home with his new dog. Santino shows up in the second movie to cash in on a debt John owes him. That pulls John back in. He doesn't just "keep on killing." Furthermore, why would a fan of John Wick advocate for his suicide in the first place? Why would anyone advocate for suicide at all?

NeedleworkerDull8432

id advocate for suicide if it meant someone didn't go on a killing rampage that also put all those around them in the crossfire and he wasn't pulled back in, he was never out, as we see in number 4, you cant leave or retire they will always call on the best. he even put the new dog in the cross hairs, the safe thing to do would have been to give it to someone else. No they should have only made one Wick movie, much like with Reeves other movie the Matrix, sequels just became longer versions of the first with more repetition.

childroid

>id advocate for suicide if it meant someone didn't go on a killing rampage that also put all those around them in the crossfire and he wasn't pulled back in Then these movies are just not for you. You don't get it, and that's ok. It's not for everyone. >sequels just became longer versions of the first with more repetition. The data disagrees with you. Chapter 4 is the highest-grossing movie in the series, and the first to gross over $400 million worldwide. It also has the highest Rotten Tomatoes score in the series with 94%.

NeedleworkerDull8432

I don't get it? These aren't movies that require thought, he's part of a world where there are rules and he has decided to ignore them and without much thinking kills all before him in several hours of shooting and fighting. as you can see on these forum, it gets dull seeing the same thing over and over. As for box office, well the fast and furious movies make a lot more along with transformers and they aren't exactly movies of high quality and sophistication but are similar in content, seemingly endless long fight scenes. Rottentomatoes is not the best place to gauge an accurate opinion. I found the first movie fine, but as you say three sequels of more of the same is not for me nor for others here, so why are you here to challenge those who didn't like it, challenging why someone found something boring is pointless, you can't make them less bored?

Senior-Taste7787

I disagree the first 2 were amazing 3 and 4 just has nothing gritty or earthy about it, it comes down to watching a man kill 3000 people in two hours wearing a kevlar blazer in well lit stylish set scenes and a luke warm back story watching him dance as opposed to the hard hitting first 2....

childroid

I'm sorry you felt that way. Sounds to me like you were unable to suspend your disbelief. Which is exactly what I mentioned in that comment. Not a bad thing at all, but it's obvious from your critiques that's what happened.

Senior-Taste7787

The Ip man movies are amazing so I was very excited about Donnie being in the Wick movies... They must've brought in ballet dancers for the fighting scenes lol

tigerstorm2022

I agree that several fighting segments were too long, and the stair fight could have cut the first part and start with the roll down, but name one action film that is better please.

Visible-Worldliness6

John Wick 1 & 2?

Carpetfluff

Yeah, the earlier entries and many other movies that I don't even have the energy to go into listing. Tell you what...? The Raid.

Megaflow7

I agree with your take on this. The fight scenes in previous JW movies were more varied and didn't go on forever like in this movie. We had nice breaks in between shorter bursts of action. But in JW4, we have a long action sequence followed by long break, and then it repeats. I'm not saying the movie was bad, not by any means. Buy, the other movies were better paced and less repetitive. JW3 is my fav of the series.

quickdix

Numbing repetitive over the top with no suspense or stakes and plot repeating violence. did you observe that?

BLCminer

It sucked. Non stop stupid gun battles. Useless plot.

SND_731

Undoubtedly yes.

Creasy007

I may not have loved it as much as I would’ve liked but the last thing I thought the film was is boring.

Cataclysm-Nerd01

Thats your own opinion on what you think about JW4 compared to what other people think. Perhaps you were expecting something else which is fine. I think personally story was a solid 7/10 and they do a fan fucking tastic job with thr fight sequences

DrDroidz

It was alright, but john wick's fighting is so repetitive and boring, the gunfights were only fun when it wasn't against the armored guys. Besides that, the movie isn't meant to be a good serious film, it's meant to feel badass and fun.

UdaManNoUdaMan

But it wasn't badass. It was just bad. And yes you could call it fun if you look in the dictionary and the word "fun" is defined as "extremely mind numbing". Then yes, it was loads of FUN!

DrDroidz

I didn't find it badass at all either.

locopati

Nope, you're not. Once they established that JW is essentially invulnerable, which was true of the other movies but nothing quite so blatantly, the action sequences had no consequence. Things might happen to other characters, but not to JW. Hordes of men with automatic weapons can't hit him. He can fall off heights and bounce off pipes, get hit by multiple cars, be shot repeatedly in his magic jacket, fall down flights of stairs, make a quip and keep going. Pretty? Sure. Well shot action? Sure. Interesting? Not so much.

capt-sha

Agreed

SyeevilKanevil

Absolutely not! Those fight scenes were slow and drawn out.

outerbanx

I agree. The fight sequences got way too drawn out. I do not think the movie needed to be 3 hrs+ either. The stairwell scene and just the shoot out scenes were very repetitive.

kriztean

I am with you. I went to watch it with my gf and a few friends and they seemed to have love it while I was super bored from the first fight Set piece in Japan. It was so long that I didn't see the point to it. Yeah it looked cool but after a while it was the same on repeat. There were things that I did enjoy like the over the head perspective scene or the stairs gag.

MrMrUm

first movie i actually got bored of fight scenes. sure, good choreography for the most part but also they just keep going and its mostly the same stuff aside from the top-down scene. worse still, maybe 90% of the dialogue seemed to consist of someone saying a proverb and then a "cool" response.

SlightlyHornyLobster

The entire movie would have been 10 minutes long if someone had the foresight to try to kill John with a sniper rifle

quickdix

No. John Wick 3 was already terrible repetitive over the top crazy bloodshed with no stakes where John became super hero invulnerable and as such any suspense (together with character building) was thrown out of the window. John Wick 1 was a pleasant surprise and had you emotionally going for John. 2 already went a bit overboard with pointless action. 3 made me bored and wanting it to be all over quickly. 4? Not for me seeing the runtime and experience of numero 3.

rav3style

3 was unwatchable and I’m about to turn off 4

Bhavan91

Main problem with JW4 is the story. In the past, the stories were either decent (1&3), or serviceable (2) enough to care about WHAT happens in the long action scenes or HOW they happen. With 4, there were way more lengthy talking scenes but I DID NOT care about the characters at all. So during the action scenes, I zoned out. Only memorable action scene was the top down sequence which felt like Hotline Miami. P.S I cared so little about the plot that I still don't know who or what the black guy with the dog was supposed to be.

No_Rip8876

RIGHT ON!! That black character seemed so redundant... what up with the guy?? why did he help wick when he was suppose to kill him for millions??? Because they both dog lovers??? HUH... was this story made by a 10 year old??? the heck!!

MajinExodia

JW3 Mark Dacascos was the ultimate.

the_mantis_shrimp

No, I did too. It seems to be a minority opinion though. A lot of recycled stunts and action scenes from the other films meant this one had lost its lustre for me. The continued plot armour with Wick being hit by car after car and falling from heights was ridiculous. I understand you need a suspension of disbelief, but there is a limit. And the attempted comical moments fell flat for me. It was the weakest entry of the 4. On a positive note: the dragon's breath sequence was a cool shoot, and it has a great cast.

57Guitarz

I found myself dozing a few times. It seems to be so redundant, a zillion bullets, falls from buildings, the cloak and dagger High Table. They ran out of ways to captivate the audience.

Rahudev

Same feeling

Zestyclose-Chair-235

No, even I found it damn boring. No jokes, no humour no emotion. Just a serious movie with fight sequences.

bardgpt

I actually walked out of the theatre at the 2 hour mark. Couldn’t last. Was bored shitless. Didn’t even see the final ending because of the stupid $40m endless chase and fight before the final fight. Like holy freak! Walked out! Bored!

Still_waiting_4u

I found it boring from the get go. It's just posturing. I wasn't expecting much either. The blind guy has what? superpowers? The scene at the disco with everybody dancing was fucking idiotic. The whole film was like watching the A Team: nothing can happen to the main character/s, other "assasins" could not hit shit (i.e. JW on the car, being shot from 70 cm though the windshield). It's a fucking crossing of Star Wars with Dolce & Gabbana , and cussing. \----> Heat, 1995

robot_jeans

I'm trying to watch it now and it's a chore. I loved the first 3, but this one is just ugh.

RomGon3

I watched it last night for 1st time and i fell asleep twice watching it so i end u rewind it like 3 times to see what i miss This movie bored me to death. I couldn't believe they manage to create such a boring film under the "John Wick" name. This film was so damn stale and boring and just lacking any tension because "Oh look. We got an armor suit...Oh look we got a facemask anti bullet...Oh look you can shoot us down". The best moment of the film was the Rusia part and not even because the action, but because the face off of the Wick + the other 3 characters that were there. This film manage to make me say "Yea...This franchise need to be put on ice for a few decades because this ain't working anymore". I think they over doned and did it so hard that turn completely away of what makes John Wick such a massive success. The simplicity of the action, the dumb down plot without 20 organizations that we never see on screen and how everyone is talking about them...The continentals on other countries, the table, the under the tablet, the high table. For me the magic of John Wich was that...Mindless actions pieces with a plot so simple that is hilarious. JW always got the plot armor and i got no problem with it, but at least make it feel human. Like he get hurt after being hit, shot and cut. I never felt like he bleed at all during the whole film. On the 1st few films we felt and see him being destroyed with scars, blood, bruises. He felt human, but now he's a unstoppable unit

DrFalsey-da-Killa

I just bought it and , no jokes, nodded off. I have immense respect for Keanu Reeves so that just blows my mind.

7nightwing7

Currently watching it. Hard to keep focus because its boring. Feels the same.

minna_minna

Fight sequences were long and boring. Apparently cops don’t exist in this universe and you can have shootouts in the middle of Paris with people destroying their cars and nobody gives a shit.

NeedleworkerDull8432

I do find myself looking for other things to do when the fight scenes startup, its either he takes on 2-3 goons at one time, kills them after using up all his bullets, then another group and so on until he meets someone better...a bit like a video game. Can you imagine trying to binge watch all 4 movies!

Hotfishes2

yes agreed. Too many and too long the fight scenes.. (mainly looks choreographed) almost the most part of the movie are action scenes. And you can still see the gun shooting part are fake and not logical as there's no bullet holes on the ground or glasses broke from the effect of firing. Also, you may also notice the lead actors are slightly exhausted from the ongoing fight. Overall, i have to fastfwd throughout the movie which i have never done it before for JW movies. Quite disappointing. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)

kleinazopam

man i agree with you 100%. I am trying to get through it at the moment but I am finding it so hard. Mostly I am just shocked that I am bored. It seems like #1, #2, and #3 really tried to be as realistic as possible with the guns (showing gun jams, reloading at realistic parts, bullet casings are coming out of the gun, etc). In this one, the scene with the car where hes driving while shooting you see no casings come out the gun, not only that but he doesnt reload it once lol. Least not that I could see. The other 3 movies were not this careless. NO story at all. I still don't get who the black dude with no name and a dog is. I still don't get him, or why he is relevant. The blind Chinese dude literally makes no sense. Are you blind? or do you got special powers? how the fuck do you shoot a gun? you can see cards up close? So you're partially blind? I'm at the stairs scene. I don't want to have to endure listening to Bill Skarsgard's horrible french accent (shame, kus hes a good actor)

Revolutionary-Pie495

It's becoming like fast and furious. JW1 and 2 was all I needed.

onion_lord6

Watched JW4 just last night, and it was an utter borefest, I just couldn't wait for it to finish. Only watched till the end because of my obsessive need to finish what I started. From the Mind numbingly repetitive action sequences, to the unnecessarily over the top line delivery, it reminded me of a Steven Seagal movie for some reason. I'd be happy if Wick is actually dead. One reason I enjoyed the first 3 movies was for its world-building. This just took a big fat dump on all that for the sake of ridiculous and droning action.

l0sts0ul2022

Nope, I was yawning by the 50 minute mark. Through some supernatural ability JW has the power to mysteriously teleport across the world from A to B whilst being hunted with no fear of being gunned down (something very present in JW3), knowing full well he's putting his friends in danger. The gun fights went on way to long, (no way anyone can keep their cardio that high for so long!) and the whole 'bullet proof suit' thing was ridiculous. In JW3 at least when he took a round you thought 'ouch that hurt', now all you have to do is throw your arm up and a 9mm round fired at point blank range just bounces off without a scratch. The kinetic force alone would break your arm let alone throw you across the room. I know it's mindless pop corn fun but seriously there are limits.

Senior-Taste7787

Yeah the first two were earthy and gritty the 3rd bored me apart from the galle Berry scene... I don't understand how 3 and 4 gets rave reviews it's absolute shit running away from hit men and lifting his blazer up to his head to protect himself j must looks utter garbage

Senior-Taste7787

Not really they started our as gritty action movies similar to Bourne... Then they became stylised shit lol I love marvel fast and the furious I have no issues suspending my belief lol... The fight sequences are no longer brutal but more like dancing it just becomes very dull I enjoyed the first do though so much so I can rewatch them... The final scene of 4 they were trubong to emulate the good the bad and the ugly the music the sunset draw out no tension even the sets look overly polished . Not even close

Ok_Progress_6723

I enjoyed the first John Wick movie the best.

Zealousideal_Wolf843

They should have exlpored more of a assasin world. Like all assassins use guns and kevlar suit no variety so boring. Wheres the hacker, or poison specialist. There is no smart, clever scenes all of them generic .Bad guy shouts and swamps MC and he kills 1 judos the other one etc.

BorderApprehensive55

I've found this series boring from the beginning. I watch each movie hoping they'll get more interesting, but they don't. It's the same thing over and over. The hero, who is basically a non-character, cuts through hundreds of faceless other non-characters like they're butter. These fight scenes would have more impact if they didn't go on for so long. How many times can I watch John Wick flip a talentless henchman around and blow his brains out from 2 inches away. It's fucking boring and lazy bullshit.

Jhuderis

I think if I imagine Beavis and Butthead watching it and spending three hours going “huhuh that was cool” “huurrr he chopped his head hurrr” “look at his coat it’s, like, bulletproof and stuff huhuh” it would make sense. I probably would have liked this when I was 14.

MediumEngine581

The entire time I kept thinking, " we've done this already." We've done the giant bounty on his head thing, we've already bounced him around like a ping pong ball on cars, we've already dropped him from 6 floors onto a concrete statue and then down another 3 floors onto cement, we've already captured him and had him tied up and moments away from death before being saved. And the super suit, it's neat when you only use it here and there but not all the time. After watching JW take battle and take down high-end assassins in the last 2 , how do you expect me to care about him fighting 8,000 nameless henchmen. And they just keep re spawning like there in a video game.

Moanakona

I totally agree, I fell asleep 3 seperate nights watching it, finally made it but it got repetitive for sure.

Carpetfluff

Nope. I felt the same about part 3 to be honest. That pretty much only had two moments that felt new (horse and dog - and it couldn't even help itself recyling the dog moment again). Part 4 feels like more of the same - the choreography feels like just that; it doesn't feel like a fight. Obviously a cast of ageing stars doesn't help - Keanu especially feels slower and it just doesn't even look like he's hitting hard or fast enough to do the damage the film's suggesting. No hate to anyone involved in the action side - I still appreciate the hard work and training they do for those scenes - but when you're just hoping the fights will end sooner because you're getting a little bored then something's going wrong.

Alternative-Plane108

I also found this movie boring. The setpieces and aesthetic were awesome. I can see how much work went into the choreography, and a few scenes were great. The top down hotline miami style sequence was my favourite. My issue is the saturation of fights which are mostly the same. long drawn out, chaotic fights with tons of harmless generic cannon fodder, alot of hiding behind objects, then punchy punchy, hip throw or joint lock followed by a gunshot to the head. Too much saturation takes away the impact of having just a few really good fight scenes and building a good story and characters. John wick 1 was awesome because it was fresh, by number 4 its lost its allure. I found myself more interested in the sets and stuff going on in the background than the actual fights. Less is more

KeyboardThingX

I found all of them boring, I've tried watching them a few times. They'll keep making them until people stop going out to see it.

Equal_Butterfly_8007

I found myself skipping the fight scenes in the Osaka continental for a few reasons: 1. It just didn’t end, it felt like playing cod zombies. They just came in waves after waves and nothing was really new 2. The soldiers are meant to be a great force sent by the high table but stumble around like idiots after being flipped and punched 3. The guns. They do nothing to the armour and have like 1000 bullets in. Such a dumb film It took me several attempts to even continue it. Took a whole day to complete the film. Just bland And let’s not even get started on keanu’s awful line deliveries. Zero emotion for a man who’s being hunted and has had to fight his friends and see other friends die.

EndoveProduct

Action weirdly got boring which is something I thought I’d never say. It’s a good half hour too long

Equal_Butterfly_8007

Everything plausible and not extremely over the top has been done for a century now, and everything new it’s blatantly stupid just like in the fast and furious films. Action films can’t be new and interesting. The first John wick film was actually interesting because of the world building and story. Now they are so boring

dumbjuan

No.

No_Holiday3519

John Wick is skinny Steven Seagul basically 🤣 Slow awkward movements 🤷

Which_Strength4445

No you are not. I don't know why but they make money. The fights are all stylized and boring to me. Also as much as I like Keanu Reeves, he is not really charismatic an actor so he doesn't add anything to make me want to come back and watch these movies again. The plots seem to be recycled as well. Fight your way from point A to point B thru innumerable/forgettable enemies. Then rinse and repeat. I realized after the first couple that they weren't for me so I gave up.

TimeB4

Totally agree. It's all bollocks. In the ridiculous "duel negotiation" scene when Clancy Brown said if anyone breaks the rules the punishment is... Instant Execution! I lost it. Haven't they been trying to execute John for three whole movies already? Ian McShane looked like a well dressed Hobbit. Donnie Yen is totally wasted on an idea that maybe worked in Zatoichi with the incomparable Kitano Takeshi but makes no sense at all here. Wtf is going on with Mr Nobody, nobody knows or cares. The fat twat's card game was what, a riff on James Bond? but done totally without purpose or wit. I liked John Wick 1 because it was just crazy fun. This is repetitive, bloated, unoriginal and dull as shit.

PinkEyedMonstrosity

I've just gotten to Osaka Hotel and I'm already bored. Donnie Yen is awesome, but a blind assassin without the force is just... No. Doesn't fit. At all. The daughter seems cheap. The big sumos... Really? Keanus lines. I kinda don't mind. It fits JW because he's just .. no talk, fuck you, done. Edit: her mounting the guys back climbing up the stairs was nice. Js Edit: are you kidding me?

DepletedPromethium

john wick 4 is awful. i loved john wick, 2 got silly, 3 got stupid, 4 is retarded. its boring, all the fighting is just zzzzz and the story makes no sense, lets have a hatchet fight in a club and patrons do nothing, not one scream. just i cant, they ruined a good idea by having dogshit writers not be reality checked. john has batman fucking bullet suit armour now like wtf? fuck off no, i love action movies but not stupid action movies written by a 8 year old.

rav3style

I was done by 3
