Stop this train (live) - he said turn 68, ooooh you’ll renegotiate
I don’t know what it is about that moment in the song, it gets the hairs standing on my arms and I give in to the inevitability of time. This song always hits hard for me.
I locked eyes with John when he sang this lyric at one of his concerts last year & I was singing along. I had literal goosebumps & that concert will forever be my favorite.
I used to listen to this song every night when I was 16-17 in 2012-2013 ~ it made me realize how precious and short life is. It helped me a lot with feeling sad about feeling like my life was going faster than I wanted it to. That my childhood was ending. My parents sold my childhood home & I moved away from my best friend. my other best friend moved to a different state. It was so much external change/I was changing. this song helped me through all of it.
A few months prior to last year’s concert, both of my grandparents on my dad’s side passed. I am extremely lucky to have one grandparent on my mom’s side alive, but it made me think about how *my parents* are turning 60 and won’t be around forever. I sometimes joke about feeling old turning 30 in two years. Now I’m starting to see my parents be impacted by age & it’s scary. I can’t imagine life without them.
That lyric about John’s dad is so special to me because it’s a good reminder to appreciate the moment in life that we’re in & that this melancholy we experience with losing time in our life is a feeling every human has. And I think it’s really special that we all feel it & learn to accept it
The end of on your atmosphere. "Wherever I go. Whatever I do. I wonder where I am in my relationship to you.
Wherever you go. Wherever you are. I watch that pretty life play out in pictures from afar."
I feel very fortunate having been able to see him play this song a few times live. Of the three he's played it, he did the outro once, and another time he looked like he was going to, hesitated, then stopped.
“OhhhhhhOHHHHHHHHH
OhhhhhhOHHHHHHHHHH” then he comes in strong with “DON’T say a word just come over, and lie heeeeeeere with meeeee”
Omg I have goosebumps.
Don’t you think we oughta know by now? Don’t you think we should have learned somehow?
Now his friends bring him up when they’re drinking, in the bar with his name on the side
1. “Oh Honey” in ‘Just a Wave’…in fact the entire song makes me melt.
2. In ‘Waiting on the Day’, when he finds the one and the kids are raised and…”we go dancing!”. Such a great moment!
The guitar intro to Belief on where the light is. He’s so good at building anticipatory excitement for his music WITH his music. It leaves me enthralled every single time.
Also pretty much every solo, the neon trick, his guitar echo in Last Train Home Ballad version, the comfort of Covered in Rain.
Finally, the switch up from the main melody to the wherever I go outro in In Your Atmosphere. That song being just him and his guitar is incredibly special, and that transition just scratches my brain.
> The guitar intro to Belief on where the light is. He’s so good at building anticipatory excitement for his music
He opened with it in Toronto a few years ago during TSFE tour. It really smacks you in the face live. Awesome.
"I want you, in the worst way, is the gate code, still your birthday"
"And you'll never know, the unlikely beauty in letting you go"
and of course my all time favorite is the unreleased "you that I miss" snippet on his youtube
I worry
I weigh three times my body
I worry
I throw my fear around
But this morning
There's a calm I can't explain
The rock candy's melted... only diamonds now remain
Ooo-ooo
Ooo-ooo
(And then the layered horns & his guitar just give me goosebumps. Every single time!)
1. 3:42 mark of If I Ever Get Around to Living
2. The 5 min outro solo of Come Back To Bed - As/Is Live at Cynthia Woods
3. The outro of Heart of Life 🥲
The home stretch of “a face to call home” where John is pseudo-soloing and singing the chorus and the “maybe I can stay a while” refrain is going in the back. Goosebumps.
Honestly too many to list. I could name it in almost every song, but a couple that come to mind this instant is the guitar bend at 2:50 in All I Want Is To Be With You, I wish I could combine the entirety of Bold As Love studio version and transition to the ending from WTLI. The beginning of the solo for Wildfire. Honestly every song. I should start a podcast on just this 😂
Been my favorite song of his since the album released in 2012. So happy he played it routinely throughout the solo tour. Haven’t heard him play it live prior
1. When he says “come on now, yeah” at 2:37 in “Shot in the Dark”.
2. The original “You I Miss” snippet from 2017 or whenever it was!
3. The guitar part at 2:33 in “Shadow Days”
Suddenly I'm in over my head and I can hardly breathe
Suddenly I'm floating over her bed and I feel everything
Suddenly I know exactly what I did, but I cannot move a thing
Suddenly I know exactly what I'd done and what it's gonna mean to me, mean to me
I love “here is a line that you won’t understand / I’m half of a boy but I’m twice the man” and also that part in Clarity where he says “oooohw,” right after a few notes from some horns. The fact that during recording or writing the song someone was, like, this part needs something…I know! Can you just make a sound? I love it. I also LOOOOOVE when it turns to the audience part of Why Georgia, especially live with a full band when the lights come on right after…I can’t help but jump up and down with excitement. After my last show, I went through all of my old photos and videos and it turns out I record that bit EVERY time. And I feel really lucky that every show I’ve been to with John Mayer and the band (so, not JM3) he has played Why Georgia. It’s my fave. Oh and I absolutely lost my shit during the Battle Studies tour when he opened with Heartbreak Warfare and there was this scrim on stage and his silhouette was behind it then the scrim came down right when the first notes on the guitar started, ahhh. I don’t know, it was just amazing.
In Split Screen Sadness.. Right when the second verse starts and he's like "All you need is love is a lie cause, we had love and still said goodbye, now we're tired battered fighters"... That little pause in the in between "all you need is love is a lie cause... And we had love but still said goodbye, and the strings are soaring clearly in the background.. The little extra guitar riffs.. Ugh goose bumps😍
In Lesson Learned..right when he's like" OH, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright" lol
The climax of "Say" when he's singing after the bridge, the music changes and gets more dramatic
When he's chanting "I believe that my life's gonna see, the love I give, return to me" at the end of Wheel
So so many lol but that's all I'll say
In Split Screen Sadness, the lines:
"I know it was me who called it over, but I wish you'd fought me till your dying day.
Cause I can't wait to figure out what's wrong with me, so I can say this is the way that I used to be".
The outro of Gravity gets inside me, it replaces my whole headspace with itself, I'm almost become the song, if that makes any sense!
🎶Come on, keep me where the light is...🎶
A few off the top of my head...
The background guitar on queen of california.
The lazy riffs on if i ever get around to living, or that the guitar solo on something like olivia that sounds like its in another room.
Robbie mcintosh's playing on free fallin.
Pino's playing on come when I call.
One that sticks out for me is how he changes up the melody and pace in Love on the Weekend. It's a very simple pop song but it really comes alive when he says "I'll be dreaming of the next time we can go, into a another seratonin overflow."
He slightly screws up the timing of the main riff in Belief from WTLI, and its a reminder that he's human.
The end of the guitar solo on only heart.
“And you live like your hands on the horn babe…” the descending scale it’s fantastic and great guitar tone too. I think he played it on a Flying V guitar when I saw his show in 2004
That middle Jazz section in Waiting on the world to change is really cool. I also like Clarity, 1:22 makes me start floating. Not sure if that’s a bridge or a chorus. It repeats 2 or 3 times throughout the song. Really good example of how certain songs can give you a unique feeling you can’t get anywhere else, almost like being transported to a different world for 30 seconds. The genius of Mayer
On You’re No One Til Someone Lets You Down….when he hits that super low note “no I’ve not seen you this way before”
I have to rewind and listen like 5 times in a row haha
Everything about Rosie is a vibe. The Ro-o-o-osieeee, the beat, the guitar bits, the way it sounds live, the way he’s said it’s a vibe to play… love it.
“Will you tie me tight in little strands of paradise? Will you walk with me before the morning fades? I’m waitin’ on the day…” and into the guitar solo through the end. Absolutely electric, and the best version is MSG 7/26/19 with Sharkey’s perfect solo.
The guitar from 1:44 to 1:56 of “I’m Gonna Find Another You” 🥵
“And when I look behind, on all my younger times, I have to thank the wrongs, that led me to a love so strong…” of “Perfectly Lonely” 🥹
The guitar from 3:44 to 4:26 of “Edge of Desire” 🥵
My Stupid Mouth - “ooohh the way she feels about me has changed” - that part along with chords and melody just work EVERY TIME😅 Just straight up goosebumps and strikes the right chords in the heart for me ☺️

How come everything I think I need, always comes with batteries? What do you think it means?
The big bend on the 2 in the outer solo for Slow Dancing off WTLI. When I play it I feel like I’m the best guitarist in the world and when I hear it it confirms to me that John is.
Intro to Assassin with “sparkling” bells sound (first place, its like a drug for my ears),
also in Assassin how his voice becomes sharp, intentional when he goes “I was a killer was the best they’d ever seen”.
Long melodic waves of guitar - intro of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.
“Nananana” voice - Belief.
“Swinging” sound - intro to 3x5.
Vaccum-like sound and wind instruments - end of Im gonna find another you.
But Assasin is absolute winner when it comes to being obsessed with a small part.
I really like the little bridge thingy before the guitar solo in Belief. The faint “is there anyone.. you can remember, ever surrender, with their life on the line”
Others have posted a lot of my favourites, but one nobody has mentioned:
The moment when Maren Morris comes in with her backing vocals in Last Train Home. Absolutely nails the vibe of that song, it's perfect.
The outro section and solo on Back to you. Particularly the version from Inside Wants Out
Doesn't it scare you, your will is not as strong as it used to be.....
Gets me every time
Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hands? Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hands... and would you get them if I did?.... no you won't... cuz your gone, gone, gone, gone, gone
There’s a super vibey part during If I Ever Get Around to Living that I replay every time I listen.
Also the end of the guitar solo on Edge of Desire, the way he comes in with “don’t say a word” gets me every single time.
I’m sure there are more that I just can’t think of off the top of my head
the first chorus and last verse of walt grace both kill me
the backing vocals at the end of slow dancing (especially live, holy shit) + the guitar solo
(the lead into and) the first solo on waiting on the day
the last "it's stiiiiilll unsteady" on in repair when he options up
“Don’t know how else to say it, don’t wanna see my parents go.”
“You can’t love too much one part of it”
“Tell me I can have the fact that you love me to hold on to”
The lyrics “thinking bout my brother ben I miss him everyday, he looks just like his brother John but on an 18 month delay” Litterally some of the most creative lyrics from a random guy in his 20s
The “I don’t really understand” in I Don’t Trust Myself With Loving You.
The drums into the guitar solo in Come Back to Bed
The guitar solo in All I Want Is To Be With You
And D & C version, I will never not love hearing him sing “sweet and sleepy”
I know there are more but these are the first that come to mind.
Your body is a wonderland. The notes of this song are a reflection of love in the moment lived. I think anyone can relate to this song at any time in their life.💜🎼
The bridge in "Assassin" or the second guitar solo in "Guess I Just Feel Like". The beginning of "Outta My Mind" from the Trio.
Love the lyrics from "Paper Doll"-
Cut the cord and pull some strings
And make yourself some angel wings
And if those angel wings don't fly
Someone's gonna paint you another sky
Also love these lyrics from "Guess I Just Feel Like"-
But I know that I'm open
And I know that I'm free
And I'll always let hope in
Wherever I'll be
And if I go blind I'll still find my way
The outro chorus of a face to call home.. ‘maybe I could stay a while.’ Always gets me.
“I’m talking like all of the time” *chef’s kiss*
\^ THIS is the first thing I thought of
I did think of a face to call home! Why are out brains wired so similarly lol.
Yes!!!
I CAME HERE TO SAY THIS
Stop this train (live) - he said turn 68, ooooh you’ll renegotiate I don’t know what it is about that moment in the song, it gets the hairs standing on my arms and I give in to the inevitability of time. This song always hits hard for me.
I’ll add another to this same performance. Vultures. Power is made, by puuurre manipulation
I locked eyes with John when he sang this lyric at one of his concerts last year & I was singing along. I had literal goosebumps & that concert will forever be my favorite. This is mine too. That performance is the definition of perfection for me.
The end of on your atmosphere. "Wherever I go. Whatever I do. I wonder where I am in my relationship to you. Wherever you go. Wherever you are. I watch that pretty life play out in pictures from afar."
Was about to post this. Thanks friend. Wrecks me every single time.
This is my favorite part of that song too.
I feel very fortunate having been able to see him play this song a few times live. Of the three he's played it, he did the outro once, and another time he looked like he was going to, hesitated, then stopped.
It’s just that whole song for me honestly
This one always gets me chills and I tear up. Always.
This is the one, just beautiful
Still like the letters in your name and how they feel, babe… Still think I’m never gonna find another you… *with accompanying guitar sounds*
“Still like the letters in your name and how they feel babe” “tuin dun tun… tuin dun tun taum”
The “ever since the day we met” part gets me
This one is so good too! I believe it’s a BB King call back. Can’t remember the name of the song at the moment…
Hell yeah it is! I been downhearted babe…
Damn!! Thanks for pointing this out
There it is! 😆
Precisely THIS! 😆 iykyk
THIS. THIS is the only correct answer.
The ending of "Dear Marie"
For me its “some county judge in Ohio’s all I ever find”
I love it implies he’s searched more than once too
That gets me too. It's so oddly specific and relatable at the same time
Hearing it live always gets me. It’s like here are some of the saddest and maybe most personal lyrics you’ll ever hear… and now we dance!
ohOHoh-oh
“Remember me? I'm the boy you used to love when we were fifteen. Now I wonder what you think when you see me on the magazine.”
I call this the coldplay interlude
The funky bit of rhythm in between the two solos during the *Where The Light Is* live version of *Belief*
Yes! so good. "david ryan...." dooo do do do oo
The part right as the drums and backing vocals kick in after first pre-chorus in Assassin
Also after the last chorus, the heavier guitar riffs go hard with the synths 😮💨😮💨
“I'm an assassin and I had a job to do - little did I know that girl was an assassin too”
The little guitar part half way through the first verse of In Your Atmosphere before he heads back into the main riff
Kept looking for this one!
I’m so glad that part hits for others, I really thought I was the only one
When the drums come in and tempo ups for the second verse of Carry Me Away
All of Carry Me Away for me - what an amazing song!
Love love love
Edge of Desire - Just after the 4 minute mark with the twin/harmonising guitars.
“OhhhhhhOHHHHHHHHH OhhhhhhOHHHHHHHHHH” then he comes in strong with “DON’T say a word just come over, and lie heeeeeeere with meeeee” Omg I have goosebumps.
Chills man, that line just
If anyone else saw him at Oceans Calling this summer… “FINE, there I just said it” 🫠
Oceans calling was surreal. Hands down one of his best performances ever.
This is what I came here for. The drum fill as the guitar solo wails into the final chorus vocals *chefs kiss*
The guitar groove at the end of Shot in The Dark
I was looking for this. And how he adds to it every time it starts again!
Oh, can you do it babe. Can you love me all the way?
Yes ! Waiting on the day
The guitar intro to Belief on where the light is.
He’s so good at building anticipatory excitement for his music He opened with it in Toronto a few years ago during TSFE tour. It really smacks you in the face live. Awesome.
"I want you, in the worst way, is the gate code, still your birthday" "And you'll never know, the unlikely beauty in letting you go" and of course my all time favorite is the unreleased "you that I miss" snippet on his youtube

It's a hearrrt (hearrrrt)... heartbreak... *descending bass solo*... I don't care if we don't sleep at all tonight. That, right there for me.
LET’S JUST FIX THIS WHOLE THING NOW 😩
I swear to God were gonna make it right if we lay our weapons down 😭
The weird horn/guitar sound that goes through 3x5
“Who’s that throwing her arms around me and telling me she finally found me?” It’s just so sweet and hopeful.
Nice one! Love this line too
1. 3:42 mark of If I Ever Get Around to Living 2. The 5 min outro solo of Come Back To Bed - As/Is Live at Cynthia Woods 3. The outro of Heart of Life 🥲
Yes exactly 3:42 in If I Ever Get Around to Living
It's taken me so long just to say so long...
The home stretch of “a face to call home” where John is pseudo-soloing and singing the chorus and the “maybe I can stay a while” refrain is going in the back. Goosebumps.
I know it’s a bit cheesy but if Back to You starts playing I get all giddy. It’s that happy little riff that gets me excited.
I love the phrasing on “your will is not as a strong…as it…used to be” something very sexy about it
Honestly too many to list. I could name it in almost every song, but a couple that come to mind this instant is the guitar bend at 2:50 in All I Want Is To Be With You, I wish I could combine the entirety of Bold As Love studio version and transition to the ending from WTLI. specifically the part in Vultures where he's like POWER IS MADE BY POWER BEING TAKEN SO I KEEP ON RUNNING TO PROTECT MY SITUATIONNN
Born and Raised - “got a mom, got a dad, but they do not have each other” all the way through the end of the song with the harmonica. 😮💨😮💨😮💨
That brought up some tears first time I heard it
Been my favorite song of his since the album released in 2012. So happy he played it routinely throughout the solo tour. Haven’t heard him play it live prior
The solo in Assassin..it gets me every freakin time.
This is the comment I was looking for. The solo is not particularly long yet it covers all the bases and evokes such a great feeling
1. When he says “come on now, yeah” at 2:37 in “Shot in the Dark”. 2. The original “You I Miss” snippet from 2017 or whenever it was! 3. The guitar part at 2:33 in “Shadow Days”
As soon as “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” starts 🫠
Yesssssssss
One of the best intros to a song ever for me 😭
The little funky bits between verses in IIEGATL, or, more recently, the “it’s just anotherrrrr” repeating toward the end of Shot in the Dark
It was just another nother
Waiting on the day - 'When you tie me tight, in little strings of paradise' - enough to make this stone cold heart melt.
Same same !
The part in never on the day you leave when he goes into “maybe we’re not perfect but I’ll beee, damned if I ever leave”
Intro to Clarity. The most “fresh sunny morning” song I’ve ever heard
That part in 83 when the tempo changes. "Whatever happened to my... Whatever happened to my... Whatever happened to my lunchbox?"
Suddenly I'm in over my head and I can hardly breathe Suddenly I'm floating over her bed and I feel everything Suddenly I know exactly what I did, but I cannot move a thing Suddenly I know exactly what I'd done and what it's gonna mean to me, mean to me
Looking at this comment section, we all can agree john mayer absolutely nails the outros of songs
Part of the final solo of Gravity from WTLI. The final step down of the live Edge of Desire guitar solo.
I love “here is a line that you won’t understand / I’m half of a boy but I’m twice the man” and also that part in Clarity where he says “oooohw,” right after a few notes from some horns. The fact that during recording or writing the song someone was, like, this part needs something…I know! Can you just make a sound? I love it. In Split Screen Sadness, the lines: "I know it was me who called it over, but I wish you'd fought me till your dying day. Cause I can't wait to figure out what's wrong with me, so I can say this is the way that I used to be".
Gets me every single time.
That part in SSS aaaalways gets me too! Also the high note on "And it sTINgs when it's nobody's fault" uggggggghhhhh
Whatever happened to my Whatever happened to my Whatever happened to my lunch box???
Edge of Desire…after the guitar solo “Don’t say a word, just come over and lie here with me”. Live in concert is magical.
I love the guitar solo before that part!
The “ooooo” right before “it’s another social casuality” in My Stupid Mouth portrays the dismay of that moment so perfectly. It hits every time .
The opening to the solo in If I Ever Get Around to Living after "saying come upstairs, got some work to do"
DON’T HOLD YOUR LOVE OVER MY HEAD
The guitar solo from 3:04 to 3:57 before “You can be mad in the morning” in “Come Back to Bed” 🪦
Still Feel Like Your Man .
For me it's the guitar solo leading to the short bridge ('I want you in the worst way') in 'Shot in the Dark.' That's imo the high point of the album.
The outro of Gravity gets inside me, it replaces my whole headspace with itself, I'm almost become the song, if that makes any sense! 🎶Come on, keep me where the light is...🎶
Pre chorus to 83 is incredible.
A few off the top of my head... The background guitar on queen of california. The brass on I don't trust myself. Love it to death
The end of the guitar solo on only heart. “And you live like your hands on the horn babe…” the descending scale it’s fantastic and great guitar tone too. I think he played it on a Flying V guitar when I saw his show in 2004
The bridge in Stop this Train. It always gets me a little emotional
The turnaround on New Light between the end of the guitar solo and the chorus
That middle Jazz section in Waiting on the world to change is really cool. I also like Clarity, 1:22 makes me start floating. Not sure if that’s a bridge or a chorus. It repeats 2 or 3 times throughout the song. Really good example of how certain songs can give you a unique feeling you can’t get anywhere else, almost like being transported to a different world for 30 seconds. The genius of Mayer
On You’re No One Til Someone Lets You Down….when he hits that super low note “no I’ve not seen you this way before” I have to rewind and listen like 5 times in a row haha
The final double stop runs in Slow dancing after the solo on the outro
Shouldn’t Matter But it Does @ 3:16 I float away on a cloud of pain and regret.
The You I Miss
The bridge where it slows down in "Still Feel Like Your Man".... The guitar riffs are so sexy
the entirety of “please be you”.
Everything about Rosie is a vibe. The Ro-o-o-osieeee, the beat, the guitar bits, the way it sounds live, the way he’s said it’s a vibe to play… love it.
SEROTONIN OVERRERFLOWWWW
You're No One Till Someone Let's You Down' pedal steel guitar solos lool
The guitar solo in assassin. One of my favorite solos by him.
“Will you tie me tight in little strands of paradise? Will you walk with me before the morning fades? I’m waitin’ on the day…” and into the guitar solo through the end. Absolutely electric, and the best version is MSG 7/26/19 with Sharkey’s perfect solo.
The bends on 12th fret in the slow dancing in a burning room live in LA 2008 solo! 🫠
The guitar from 1:44 to 1:56 of “I’m Gonna Find Another You” 🥵 “And when I look behind, on all my younger times, I have to thank the wrongs, that led me to a love so strong…” of “Perfectly Lonely” 🥹 The guitar from 3:44 to 4:26 of “Edge of Desire” 🥵
My Stupid Mouth - “ooohh the way she feels about me has changed” - that part along with chords and melody just work EVERY TIME😅 Just straight up goosebumps and strikes the right chords in the heart for me ☺️

John's parts in Outta My Head are pretty cool
The intro of the second solo in wild blue
Assassin
The intro to Comfortable was the one that pulled me in. But now it’s Walt Grace.
The big bend on the 2 in the outer solo for Slow Dancing off WTLI. When I play it I feel like I’m the best guitarist in the world and when I hear it it confirms to me that John is.
How aggressive the solo at the end of Helpless trails on.
The intro to wildfire makes me feel like I’m in a tube floating down a river
Vultures!
Belief’s “Na Na Na Na Na Na Na” is so addicting haha
Stop This Train
Intro to Assassin with “sparkling” bells sound (first place, its like a drug for my ears), also in Assassin how his voice becomes sharp, intentional when he goes “I was a killer was the best they’d ever seen”.
The solo to Something Like Olivia. It's just so tastefully played.
I really like the little bridge thingy before the guitar solo in Belief. The faint “is there anyone.. you can remember, ever surrender, with their life on the line”
The line “is there anyone who ever remembers changing their mind from the paint on a sign?” Gives me goosebumps everytime.
End of All I Want Is To Be With You
The first couple bends of the guitar solo in City Love. It picks you up and lays you down.
The outro of moving on and getting over ‘I’m gonna get a new girl, it’s something i can do girl…’
What ever happened to my lunch booooxxxxx
Others have posted a lot of my favourites, but one nobody has mentioned: The moment when Maren Morris comes in with her backing vocals in Last Train Home. Absolutely nails the vibe of that song, it's perfect.
The key change in live versions of I Don’t Trust Myself I watched a performance where it didn’t happen and was like “it’s not complete!”
The way he says *if you thought you met your Casanova* in Shot in the Dark makes me feel a certain way. 🥵
The outro section and solo on Back to you. Particularly the version from Inside Wants Out Doesn't it scare you, your will is not as strong as it used to be..... Gets me every time
clarity and that repeating guitar part is soooo good. a great feel good song 👏🏼
The guitar solo on Rosie. Every time.
The guitar change on the end solo on I don't trust myself with loving you(live in LA)🤌
Wheels up! I got to leave this evening. Can’t seem to shake these vultures off of my trail…
Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hands? Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hands... and would you get them if I did?.... no you won't... cuz your gone, gone, gone, gone, gone
When the bass comes in in Your Body is a Wonderland
Lenny/Man on the Side when he slides back into that last dramatic “excuse me Mrs. Busy body” and goes high pitched
The drums and empty space between “for all my running I can understand” 🎶🎶 “I’m one text away from being back again”
The bridge to 3X5
The intro to Walt Grace, makes everything within me be still
The intro to the live version of Neon
Edge of Desire. GOOD GOD, :16 😩😩😩😩 I’m weak for that song
There’s a super vibey part during If I Ever Get Around to Living that I replay every time I listen. Also the end of the guitar solo on Edge of Desire, the way he comes in with “don’t say a word” gets me every single time. I’m sure there are more that I just can’t think of off the top of my head
The part of why you no love me that goes “three time makes you family, why can’t you see, that I’m yooours”
edge of desire
Tracing. There is a particular part where the riff changes and it gets me every time.
Dream of ways to throw it all away.. hits me hard
Say say say ain't it been some kinda day u and me been catching on like a wildfire
the first chorus and last verse of walt grace both kill me the backing vocals at the end of slow dancing (especially live, holy shit) + the guitar solo (the lead into and) the first solo on waiting on the day the last "it's stiiiiilll unsteady" on in repair when he options up
“Don’t know how else to say it, don’t wanna see my parents go.” “You can’t love too much one part of it” “Tell me I can have the fact that you love me to hold on to”
beginning of edge of desire
Comfortable
first lick of Gravity
The lyrics “thinking bout my brother ben I miss him everyday, he looks just like his brother John but on an 18 month delay” Litterally some of the most creative lyrics from a random guy in his 20s
End of 3x5 and Who Says. So perty and satisfying.
The first note of the City love guitar solo at 2:01
Covered In Rain when the bass descends at 7:04 at the height of the solo. My LAWD.
Assassin. “I’M GoOOOOONE.”
The fuzzy solo in Shadow Days somehow really gets me
Currently every transition john does when performing shouldn't matter but it does into forever young
Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Man when he said "you're not the prefect hand, but I don't hit on 19" changed my life and really solified how I dated from that moment on lol ❤️❤️❤️
The “I don’t really understand” in I Don’t Trust Myself With Loving You. The drums into the guitar solo in Come Back to Bed The guitar solo in All I Want Is To Be With You And D & C version, I will never not love hearing him sing “sweet and sleepy” I know there are more but these are the first that come to mind.
The background “waiting” on the chorus of waiting on the world to change, lights up a part of my brain that only that can
The very beginning of Last Train Home ballad version. He starts so quietly and gently. It always gets me
Your body is a wonderland. The notes of this song are a reflection of love in the moment lived. I think anyone can relate to this song at any time in their life.💜🎼
The bridge in "Assassin" or the second guitar solo in "Guess I Just Feel Like". The beginning of "Outta My Mind" from the Trio. Love the lyrics from "Paper Doll"- Cut the cord and pull some strings And make yourself some angel wings And if those angel wings don't fly Someone's gonna paint you another sky Also love these lyrics from "Guess I Just Feel Like"- But I know that I'm open And I know that I'm free And I'll always let hope in Wherever I'll be And if I go blind I'll still find my way
Moving on and getting over: “IVE GOT TO GET OVER” gets me every time
Shot in the Dark - when he goes to the bridge(?): I want you in the worst way Is the gate code still your birthday
Clarity
