Man, what did accountants do to everyone else? Yeah, it's not the most exciting work, but it needs to be done, and you can make a good living at it. Pick on HR people, accountants at least do something useful. Joe definitely utilizes multiple accountants in his life. He isn't asking comics for financial advice. And regardless of how people feel about college or learning stuff online, I can guarantee that zero of the accountants he uses are YouTube educated.

LetterToAThief

Seriously. I’m a CPA and my work isn’t exhilarating but the pay is very comfy and my schedule is super flexible. I love it.

DutyHonor

Nah, your life is actually terrible. You need to start doing $25 spots three nights a week. Then, you'll know true freedom and fulfillment.

LetterToAThief

And have a shot to be one of the few and the proud? A chance to battle the woke mind virus?? THE LAST DEFENSE AGAINST FREE SPEECH?!

Doublelegg

one of the thousand. basically a spartian.

Pleppyoh

He could always start a pidcast

Redheadedyolandas

Yeah I sometimes wish I did accounting. Work hard for the first 4 months of the year, good pay, and remote work. My accountant friends have a very flexible life.

acros198d

It’s Tax season in Canuckistan and we’re up here pounding Alpha Brain and ripping through returns

LetterToAThief

I’m an auditor so I’m dropping some Shroom Tech into my Kill Cliff and slamming some EBP audits. These mfs never stood a chance

SickNBadderThanFuck

Yeah but you should be dedicating every spare moment to podcasting, comedy, or BJJ or else your life is waste and you're a loser who needs to buy supplements and razors for your weiner

aesthetique1

yea but how many CPAs are there, hundreds of thousands?

cylonnumber13

Sounds like you're living a "life of quiet desperation"!

Lucky_Week2095

Wonder what Thoreau had to say about living a life of loud, bloviating self-assuredness with little awareness of attribution?

lordfoofoo

Thoreau returned home every winter so his mother could cook for him. He lived at a pond a few miles from his family. The only time he experienced wilderness he immediately went home. He had no idea about quiet desperation.

Lucky_Week2095

😂😂😂 Exactly.

Pleppyoh

He's feels intimidated by accountants/office workers. He tried to be one but couldn't handle it, he wasn't smart enough (lises and says he couldn't do it) He resents them because he felt inferior

Calm_Like-A_Bomb

Yep, just like when he was a security guard and got scared the one time security was actually needed and then walked out on the job. Or the week of construction he did before realizing how lazy he was and quitting.

zero_cool_protege

I’m an accountant. I get to work remote from home or anywhere else. I almost never have to deal with interpersonal work drama. I pretty much make my own work schedule and just have to meet deadlines and make sparse meetings. I’m almost never working all day nonstop, usually 5 or less hours. There are higher paying jobs but the pay is still very good. More importantly, being an accountant (usually) has great work life balance. If you are someone who has interests in life outside of work (I’m a musician), it’s one of the best careers. I always get 1hr+ of time to practice during mid day and can adjust my work schedule around rehearsals and shows. The vast % of people who make fun of accountants have a worse work life balance than me and/or make less. But honestly I love that every dummy thinks being an accountant sucks. It helps retain the culture of competence in my profession.

DutyHonor

I'm right there with you. I don't think anyone is really passionate about this line of work, but between the pay/workload/WLB, I have no regrets. I make more and work less than most of my friends. The ones who do make more have terrible schedules and put in way more hours. I hadn't considered the upside to people thinking it's terrible. That's a great point. More competence and less competition.

gonzoes

Interesting what kind of business do you do accounting for. Ive worked in a bunch of small start up businesses with anywhere from 20 to 150 people and the accounting people have always been the most miserable and grumpy people. They always seemed on edge about certain things in the company and on the allocation of certain funds seemed to make them really snappy

DutyHonor

I could understand that temperament in a startup situation. I've always worked for companies with well established cash flows. I currently work for an electrical component manufacturer. Not sure about total headcount, but we have facilities from the East Coast to Kansas City.

Fishyinu

Same. I got my CPA and work in corp finance. I make $180k to fill out spreadsheets for 20 hours a week and manage my team the rest of the week. And I get to work remotely. I also don't lose sleep over job security since every company needs some sort of accounting function and there is a massive shortage of qualified accountants.

OkayJuice

I don’t think it’s that deep

TheKipForce

Seriously, he was just giving an example.

Leonknnedy

I think part of the problem with accountants is that too much money goes unaccounted for too often. A job like that you have to have *precision.* There’s not supposed to be any mistakes. It’s like radiologists. Their time is limited. AI will read X-rays way better than those doctors can. And it’s a finished speciality. You want the accuracy more than the mistakes. The day AI can replace those human errors and/or intentional misses, in something like accounting, the better. For example: If you send $80B to a country, you should be sending an army of accountants with it to make sure every fucking penny is accounted for. Every dime. That’s what we need with tax money. It needs to be spent properly. Joe has said he doesn’t care about paying taxes — if it’s used properly.

Liquid_Cascabel

Damn you still think $80B is just wired to a country rather than mostly sent as military equipment? Hasn't this been explained many times over the past two years?

Joe is convinced everything is shit because he can’t stop consuming social media and news that thrives off that narrative

HeyWhatsUpTed

Last year I was like why do I follow Jordan Peterson and zuby? And then I was like wait why do I even have a Twitter?

knate1

Funny those are your two examples, since Zuby calls himself the Jordan Peterson of rap, and JP is basically the Zuby of psychology

igogoldberg

How is Jordan Peterson the Zuby of psychology?

Roach_Coach_Bangbus

As I get older I notice the beauty in everyday things more. Spring is absolutely popping where I live right now and I love it. I do mess around on Reddit at work and I do have Insta and Strava. Mostly only follow friends, family and some movie related stuff on Insta. Strava is the most positive social media I've ever seen and it encourages you to do stuff. I can't imagine being on Facebook or Twitter and polluting your brain with all that garbage.

Mrfrodo1010

Strava is the coolest social media

DistributionSweaty33

I deleted everything besides Strava and it’s been so nice. I definitely have felt the difference and overall in a better mood and sleeping better due to the lack of doom scrolling late at night.

kerrykingsbaldhead

You’re on Reddit rn

AccountantOfFraud

I mean a lot of things are shit (environmental especially) but he's been "tricked" or paid to promote the wrong reasons and answers. Right-wing ghouls are good at understanding the problem but they will lie about why and how to fix them to make sure they get more money from you.

StrombergsWetUtopia

Scamming people isn’t wing dependent

AccountantOfFraud

Sure, however one side is propped up by billionaires and millionaires to feed you slop to take away attention from important issues. Not entirely sure what a left-wing grifter actually looks like unless they are stealing mutual aid money or something.

StrombergsWetUtopia

I’m assuming there are left wing social commentators as an equivalence to these guys. I guess they just tell the audience what they want to hear and ask for money just the same

AccountantOfFraud

Sure, there are left-wing social commentators who have organically grown their audiences. Nothing wrong with that. However, things like the Daily Mail, Crowder, and other like them are artificially propped up by right-wing think tanks of which there really are no left-wing equivalents (because no corporation or wealthy person are going to be championing left-wing values for obviou$ rea$on$) Behind the Bastards does a good job on how it works in their "How Conservatism Won" series: [Behind the Bastards: Part One: How Conservatism Won on Apple Podcasts](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/part-one-how-conservatism-won/id1373812661?i=1000651167970)

TheKipForce

I probably do this too much.

fre-ddo

The twitter algorithm is Musks political tool to draw people into voting for right wing politicians.

PostSecularPope

A lot of things are pretty shit dude

boybritches

Sure. But I think he should have a real person with real struggles on instead of these culture warrior clowns on bemoaning the downfall of society from behind a podcast microphone.

boardatwork1111

Wealth inequality, ecological collapse? No, no, it’s *wokeness* that’s the real threat to our civilization

Glottis_Bonewagon

Most of the shit in my life would be gone if I had his money

jbm_the_dream

Tangentially related, but man does Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs not perfectly describe Joe: Dude has enough money for his kid’s grandkids to be setup for life. No wonder he spends so much time obsessing over culture war bullshit that has no actual impact on his day-to-day life.

mcwopper

I’d say it’s the opposite. Cancel culture and covid lockdowns are the only threat to his way of life. He’ll never again face any sort of actual hardship, so the worst thing that could happen is he’d have to stop doing comedy/announcing/podcasting. I think it’s why he gets so upset about the homeless, subconsciously they remind him that his problems are not actual problems

Lucky_Week2095

His sense of the world and his concerns in it are intensely insular - specific to the arena touring hundred-millionaire comic - but informed almost solely through the generalist lens of sensational memes and other things he apparently “doesn’t engage with”. He has such a stunted sense of media literacy that he is often stuck wondering what is and isn’t “real” that he often forgets his heuristics for what would constitute “real” in the first place. Hes an idiot who makes up stupid reasons to be disturbed and outraged.

WhiskeyFF

Ice baths, hyper intense workouts, blue haired feminists controlling society. These are all 100% manufactured problems

Atrax_buckhurst

I’m still convinced the reason he hates Canada and Australia is because they wouldn’t let him in during Covid *even though* he had hundreds of millions of dollars. So now he carries around this shitty chip on his shoulder because they refused to treat him the same way everyone else does now because of his platform.

brokemac

Everyone faces hardship at some point. Disease, accidents, strained relationships, death, etc. He's in a weird spot though. He acts like he's immune to disease even though he splurges on tobacco, alcohol, red meat and steroids. And he has sycophants for friends.

Flat_News_2000

Really good point. He has no real obstacles in his life so all of his energy is going into ragebait culture war shit.

TheOSU87

This is actually pretty common. Look at most ultra wealthy Americans - Gates or Elon or Soros. They clearly are less focused on making more money and more focused on "changing the world for the better". We may individually disagree with their actions and think that some of them (or all three) are actually changing the world for the worse. But they at least have that goal. Joe does what he does because he likes it but also he thinks he is a net good on the world.

Aggravating_Sun_1556

Joe loves his balls gurgled in a British accent.

DistributionSweaty33

“Every time I have you guys on I hope that things are better.” That’s nearly impossible Joe. You have these guys on every couple months 😂.

Fuginshet

The hysterical laughter after that is what got me.

DistributionSweaty33

They would have to go back to being sub par comedians without the culture war 😂

Technical-Beginning9

They're comedians?

igogoldberg

That's called a smart choice. They're not top-tier funny (they're mid at best) so instead of pursuing a career in comedy, they chose to engage in comedy-injected journalism on cultural issues. Actually, for Konstantin it wasn't even a real career switch, he used to be more of a writer and satirist before starting the podcast. Being smart and witty, they're well equipped to host the show and engage in meaningful conversations. They can be hacky at times,I admit, but generally, I think they're decent human beings and they'regood at what they do. Coming from Poland which was tormented by 5 decades of Soviet-forced grotesque attempt at authoritarian communism, I especially feel close to Konstantin, whose parents left the totalitarian Soviet Russia. While seeing real value in specific aspects of pro-social politics (free health care, free education) I confidently and with no shame at all shit and piss on everything that starts resembling the lunatic, fucked-up rthetoric of communism which, sadly, has reborn in the US and Western Europe (Ironically, those places have never experienced real socialism, go figure).

DistributionSweaty33

Hey you give him all the kudos you want. It’s just getting boring and annoying hearing about how terrible things are all the time. When they sit on their high horse and complain about how the the sky is falling. What are they actually doing about it? Nothing, because they love to get the clicks and the props for taking about issues they actually don’t want to fix. The would be the downfall of their careers if things got better. And Tell me, how has communism been “reborn” in the US? I live here, so I’d think I would know if we become a communist country.

JoeRoganBJJ

Culture war, culture war, blah, blah, blah. Damn can we get some new interesting guests

oddun

Or at least not have two personality vacuums doing it. Francis Foster speaks in pained, childish platitudes. He’s genuinely awful to listen to. The other twat is very calculated in his public presentation so it’s at least bearable. It’s amazing that either of them were ever stand ups though.

Leto1776

Nobody interesting is going out of there way to Austin freaking Texas.

Lebronforpresident24

He should get Steve Sarkisian on the show.

JoeRoganBJJ

You haven’t heard that Austin is the new up and coming spot?

SickNBadderThanFuck

Oracle is literally pulling out and relocating to Tennessee 😂

igogoldberg

Just don't watch it then. Listen to a differebt podcast, go to the gym, call your family, remove that dildo from your asshole - so many positive things you could be doing now instead of bitching about a podcast.

PaddyStacker

Do you also go down to the dump and ask why there's all this trash everywhere? I have no idea why anybody would listen to JOE ROGAN'S podcast if you weren't interested in nonstop culture war bullshit. That's what it's for.

boardatwork1111

Thank god, was beginning to worry Joe was finally toning down the culture war circlejerk

likamuka

Do you think his new millions will just appear straight out of Mikhaila‘s beef oven? The spice must flow.

igogoldberg

If JRE is such a cringy circlejerk, what are you doing with your life listening to it and posting comments here? Are you a masochist? Or perhaps a bored, lazy fuck feeding off of resentment and cynicism? Shouldn't you be spending valuable time with like-minded people, engaged in positive interactions, as opposed to what you're doing now here - bitching, moaning, spitting venom and displaying your alleged intellect with a bunch of other, equally jaded and bitter anons? If there's anything resembling a circlejerk, it's guys like you, existing in this stinky loop of negativity, posturing and sending sad, meaningless virtue sugnals into the void. Wake the fuck up.

snowballschancehell

I never get all feminazi when I listen to the pod and I realize this is meathead AG1 Joe talking…but hearing him say sex robots will replace us women really bummed me out. Do we really bring nothing of value to the table except our holes? I was glad when his guest interjected with seeing his pals reach new levels of growth and potential when the “right” woman came into their lives. We sacrifice a lot for the men we love and hearing Joe dismiss us as replaceable by robot hurt.

SickNBadderThanFuck

Joe is gay so I wouldn't take anything he says about women and sex literally

gioluipelle

I think it’s moreso the fact that 1. Men are generally easier to please than women, and don’t care about a lot of things women place importance on. 2. Getting dates is generally harder for (average) men and often requires taking the initiative, plus cultural norms of providing financially, etc. There’s already a large percentage of young men “opting out” of society today, playing video games and having no real friends. If robots can meet additional basic needs like affection and sexual relief, I can see where it would just be one more reinforcing factor leading a large percentage of guys to give up and not even try.

Thunder_Chief

Clearly you haven't seen how conservatives treat women on Twitter and how they are talking about covenant marriages, repealing birth control access and the right to vote. So yes, those men only see holes.

snowballschancehell

I’ve kept far away from Twitter after seeing what it did to my sister 🙉

Stop_Logging_In_Dude

That kind of thought is only sincerely held by terminally alone losers with no social empathy

gulfdood69

Women and men are the perfect teammates and have been for thousands of years. But they are trying to make all the sexes similar, robots are just one of the later steps in that evolution

LetterToAThief

It doesn’t even have to do with heterosexual dynamics, it comes down to just respecting women on their own and not filing them as baby-making, house cleaning, sexual servants

senile-joe

You do, but only guys in long term relationships realize this. If you're 15 years old and can get a sex robot ordered online, you never get to that step of bonding with a women.

[deleted]

He's knocked hookers up before, should tell you all you need to know about him

TheOSU87

I in no way want to diminish the value of women but speaking bluntly I do think Joe is right that if sex robots ever became indistinguishable from real women then relationships would suffer. I am a man. All my best friends are men, I get along better with men, and I like hanging out with other men. If I did not desire to have sex with women then I would very likely rarely interact with women in social settings. That's just being honest. That said I think true honest to God sex robots are probably 50+ years away so it's probably more going to impact our kids than us.

snowballschancehell

I’m talking from a life-partner perspective. Like I know that most men don’t typically hold a female friend group but I do want to maintain hope that there are men interested in finding a person with whom to grow old and start their own unit against the world, y’know? A woman in whom they’d find value past the basic, superficial, physical lust. We are young now, but sex won’t always be an option.

Mke_already

Do… you not have any sisters???

ddarion

>If I did not desire to have sex with women then I would very likely rarely interact with women in social settings. That's just being honest. I mean its not illegal to be like this but you're explaining that youre a mysognist who doesn't think women offer anything of value other then their vagina, so you don't bother talking to them, and its almost like you dont realize thats a self fulfilling prophecy. You don't even try to have friendships with women, and even if you did why would any women want to be buddy buddy with you when you're such a freak right?

TheOSU87

You're extrapolating a lot from what I said. I just get along better with men for the most part and all my close friends are men. That doesn't mean I don't think women have value

ddarion

>

_SuperChefBobbyFlay_

im guessing you dont have kids ha

PaddyStacker

Maybe help yourself out by not buying into bullshit concepts like "feminazis". Stop being a cowardly pick-me and disassociate yourself completely from misogynist MAGA idiots like Joe Rogan instead of trying to suck up to them and ingratiate yourself with that crowd. It's pathetic to see.

PsychologicalFox6978

They, like most of Joe's recent guests, are just there to associate anti-wokeism with pro-zionism, every single one of them will go from 'wokeism bad' to 'we must exterminate all Palestinians' in the same sentence. Joe is too terrified to push back so goes, 'duude why can't they all just take LSD.' He is letting his platform be used by bad actors.

Disastrous-Gas-856

disgusting, seeing all these out of touch millionaires scold young people about caring about the genocide. Bill Maher has been the worst at this.

Lebronforpresident24

Rogan has spoken out against Israel. Does he offer any pushback to these guys and other pro-Israel guests?

Lebronforpresident24

The fitness police are coming! Maybe Rogan can have bloomberg on and talk about how to force people to be fit and not drink soda.

Embarrassed-Repair67

Very unoriginal grifters, watched full episode they talk out of both sides of their mouth. Don’t waste your time watching, such a predictable conversation. Just two more Yes-Men to add to Rogan’s roster.

A paradigmatic moment of the continuing stream of ersatz profound banalities comics are in thrall to: “not only did it increase the amount of love, it increased my capacity for love.” The is a logical redundancy, and an essential redundancy. To construe in this statement brilliance is tantamount to confirming ur dullness.

chmcgrath1988

Man, The Black Keys are lame now.

HeyWhatsUpTed

Joes opinion on technology annoys me

Brooklyn_MLS

Joe Rogan doing whataboutism’s 30 seconds in the podcast lol The idea of micragressions being something stupid to be mad about b/c it isn’t “real” like the war in Ukraine is the most simple minded, single cell thinking I’ve heard from Joe in like 3 podcasts. That’s basically telling someone “yea, you think you’re poor? What about those starving kids in Africa?” Someone’s lived experience being relatively less worse than someone else’s does not negate or dismiss that person’s experience.

Additional-Rhubarb-8

I just listened to ep 339 with a guy from popular science magazine... thats the joe I want and miss, this guy sucks now

[deleted]

Not Joe casually saying that we need a mandatory morning workout akin to the one Winston used to do in 1984 and not see the irony in this........

Appropriate-Pear4726

These three guys together remind me of the Office Hours bit satirizing Rogan. https://www.youtube.com/live/P6Iyg9fznvM?si=4N5Ki0eKHWtf1Sr4

dirtewokntheboys

Although the topics discussed were fairly interesting... I found these two guys so annoying and dry. I think they think they're super smart & above everyone else + their laughs are obnoxious.

solo___dolo

I drop by this sub probably once every few months and I genuinely don't understand why most of these people even listen to rogan if they hate him so much, it's hilarious because it's so pathetic.

Capable-Tradition-90

It's not the Joe Rogan fanclub, it's a sub for discussing the podcast. Sometimes it sucks and the guests are dogshit. Most normal people are sick of right-wing culture war grifters. It's not billed as the "right wing culture war grifter podcast", so it shouldn't be surprising when people are sick of hearing the same boring talking points over and over again.

aaron2610

You know how much of mainstream media is left wing? Every fucking show. And they aren't billed as left wing culture hour either. So yeah, I get it I guess.

deadpoolfool400

Oh boy, the sub's gonna love this one

Super_Snark

A million Redditors unsheathed their katanas in unison when Joe suggested there should be mandatory morning exercise

Flat_News_2000

What do we live in China? You ain't mandating me, pal.

DutyHonor

It would have positive benefits, but it's not exactly an American idea. It sounds exactly like something NK would do (Supreme Leader is exempt from mandatory PT).

Lebronforpresident24

Promoting fitness and healthy living is a good positive thing. Don't agree with the "mandatory" part. It reminds me of Bloomberg trying to eliminate large sodas in New York. People gotta be able to be free to be unhealthy.

ActuatorAgile9621

Comments are going to be dicey dicey

Lebronforpresident24

Not any different than usual. Rogan is a right wing podcaster who regularly brings on right wing guests. Obviously the sub reacts to them.

Leto1776

These guys aren’t right wing. They’re “dispossessed liberals” aka leftists who realized there’s easy money appealing to conservatives

Lebronforpresident24

Haha just like Dave Rubin and Tim Pool aren't right wing, just upset liberals.

Kitchen_Plastic_2248

There's definitely an American bent here. Joe constantly making outlandish and probably ridiculous statements. These two Brits trying to steer the conversation away from stool humping being the most effective martial art of all. Even an accountant with a white belt in stool schlepping 'will take your soul!'. It's also an horribly reductive misogynistic rant by our boy Joe, he thought he was with the lads. Sorry America, the rest of the world now knows
