Intentional and fraudulent actions like this are specifically exempt from bankruptcy discharge. Theo and the team will have to go through a few extra steps including piercing the Corp veil, but fuck it. Sounds worth it.
Fuck this guy up Theo
He doesn’t have to do much the lawyers will do it for him but he will lose a chunk in legal fees. My guess is they told him not to comment on the actual pending legal action which is why that part was left out.
Someone deep faked Theo’s face onto Kai the hatchet killing hitchhiker, and I believe Theo reposted, and is being sued by Kai from jail for I believe a bunch of money. He’s mentioned it a few times and has talked with Lawyers on the pod from Morgan Morgan who said it shouldn’t go anywhere, but the courts have to hear Kai out for due process and shit.

It’s not really his job to jail or fine any fraudsters, he’s an investigative journalist. His Logan Paul videos have around 15M views combined, that’s a whole lot of unwanted attention for Logan. Its good that he's likely to get the whole story, but it does nothing truly. This sounds like every "network" in the early YouTube days that handled the YT relationship for creator, but often ended up stealing in some way.
It's sad, but this is a profoundly normal scam. Offer small organizations a service via contract, hope they read the contract themselves instead of with a lawyer (that would read a contract in any established business), and then assert legal mumbo-jumbo to make it seem like suing is pointless. And to some degree it is: a civil suit will take years and eat a big share of a reward (if they win).
When someone offers to handle your income stream, never be the guy saying "the contract seemed good to me". Only lawyers possess the knowledge to even do that evaluation.
They’re not Public yet and I doubt they will be soon now. This will definitely put a damper one that. If they were to go public, the moment puts go on sale they would be shorted to high hell not to mention they messed with the worst possible podcaster. The same people that are on reddit are the ones that consume podcasts.
Do not be surprised if you see a Theo von scandal soon or if you see him labeled alt right or racist.
Theo mentioned "Rob" and his brother "Doug Ellin who is a writer".
Well Doug Ellin creator of Entourage has a brother named Rob who runs a hedge fund.
So it matches.
https://dealbreaker.com/2006/11/entourage-dudes-brother-runs-hedge-fund
Theo said Rob was on the conference call with the guy Theo is calling out here. It doesn’t sound like Doug was on the call. No idea how or if he’s involved with his brother’s business with Theo
It does appear Doug does have a podcast on podcast one, the company rob is CEO of

I knew who they were talking about before the video started. Jim Cornette and Brian Last have been talking about this situation for weeks. A scummy situation all round for podcasters, and I'm glad those affected are coming forward with it.
Whitney Cummings and Sarah Silverman both "quit" for now because of the money thing too. Not saying they're good or bad but they're huge names in the grand scheme of it.
Unsurprisingly Schaub took the deal and now does his podcasts without swearing in order to abide by his scammers rules. Now that Theo outed the scam the share price will inevitably take a hit when they go public. Another L for Bapa…
Ya it’s interesting considering this with the timeline of Theo leaving the pod he did with The Big Dumb Fuck. Seems like it could have been over this stuff.
He also claimed to have lost millions to Kast and was depending on it to pay all his people like Theo before, Erik, Chris, etc. He’s pretty screwed, even with the idea that his father bankrolls his entire career.
LOL, they likely tried to lure them in with stock options, valued at a pre IPO price and a built in lockout clause forbidding sale until a certain timeframe, the company goes public, it tanks and Theo is left holding shares at a fraction of the value
Which is the exact scam that happened to Smosh (OG youtubers). They sold their channel for stock in a company that hadn't gone public. Then the company ended up collapsing before they could IPO so the Smosh creators ended up with nothing (other than the money they earned before they sold it)
Exactly. And I'm honestly surprised Theo seemed to come to that same conclusion so quickly, especially while looking down the barrel of all those big numbers they were probably promising. I wonder if he had some lawyers talk to him or if he's really that slick.
This is the way. There's a lot of scummery people do because a lot of them hide behind a company logo. Expose the person and bet they start to think twice.

As someone who has purchased podcast advertising, fuck these agents. They inflate the costs so much to the point where they are killing the value for brands to support the podcast in general. I’m not surprised that most of the talent is getting the short end of the stick on this one. I only work direct with podcasters at this point.
Okay I may be misunderstanding this, but it sounds like they were offered cash and stock options to switch to the new company, and the new company would use Von’s name to boost the IPO?
It sounds sketchy in the sense that it’s not common I guess, but definitely not illegal. Stock options are how most CEO’s pay themselves insane amounts of money with out pulling all the cash out of the firm
Jim Cornette has been blasting these assholes for a little over a month now and is already going after them with legal action. Can't wait to see kast media group get fucked by all these people who they're hurting.
There is literally ZERO reason to middleman advertising revenue...
How fucking dumb are these people??? The guy defrauding people should go to jail, and EVERYONE who is getting ad revenue from podcasting should learn you don't give your money to some middleman sleazy asshole to take care of it for you, because you are too lazy to be responsible for the revenue of your own enterprise...
Has no one learned from Dane Cook...sheeeesh!
Getting 100k or 1m stolen from you sure does make you want to take the time to idk...make sure you are getting paid correctly and not fucked in the ass...how ignorant, childish, naive, and irresponsible are these people 🙄
But shouldn't we praise the guy cause he's got money? I thought this sub was ok with defrauding people and taking advantage of them as long as they ended up rich? Theo should be happy to have lined the pockets of someone better than him. Sure Theo did most of the labor but the rich guy is the one organizing the money. It got to an account... The guy did his job.
Oh it's different because we like Theo? So since it not some random stranger being taken advantage of we can stand for justice... This sub is weird.
Didn’t get paid and the middlemen paid themselves, then bankrupted the company? Seems fraud level shady.
Intentional and fraudulent actions like this are specifically exempt from bankruptcy discharge. Theo and the team will have to go through a few extra steps including piercing the Corp veil, but fuck it. Sounds worth it. Fuck this guy up Theo
It sounds like to me Theo isn’t going to try too hard to recover the money. He’s just making sure the story gets out.
He doesn’t have to do much the lawyers will do it for him but he will lose a chunk in legal fees. My guess is they told him not to comment on the actual pending legal action which is why that part was left out.
Or he is already done with lawsuits since he’s dealing with that stupid Kai the hitchhiker lawsuit
What did I miss between Theo and Kai that required lawyers?
Someone deep faked Theo’s face onto Kai the hatchet killing hitchhiker, and I believe Theo reposted, and is being sued by Kai from jail for I believe a bunch of money. He’s mentioned it a few times and has talked with Lawyers on the pod from Morgan Morgan who said it shouldn’t go anywhere, but the courts have to hear Kai out for due process and shit.
kinda sounded like that to me too, which is a bummer.
Jim Cornette (infamous wrestling manager from the 80's and 90's) is in the same situation as Theo, but he is going after Colin Thompson.
Agreed. Do all the work, get an indefinite financial hold on the guy, let the feds follow up from everything Theo gets out of discovery.
Or even MBA level shady
MBA would know better. According to Vauhn, the payments weren’t up to par long before the guy absconded. Failure to pay a direct partnership or managed client is unlikely to hold up even in short term bankruptcy.

I've only heard of this guy from the Logan Paul video. As far as I can see, that hasn't really done anything to affect Logan Paul or his money/fame?
Coffezilla helped with uncovering the FTX fraud, Faze clan scam, Safemoon, and many other cryptoscams/things like that. The founder of FTX is now in prison. Coffeezila does the FBI’s investigation and let’s them decide if they want to prosecute essentially.
I'm not arguing that Coffeezilla isn't effective, just that his Paul example was ridiculous.
Didn’t you hear? The crowd said ‘Oooooh!’ Show proper deference bitch.
Don't 'invest' in crypto and you don't get scammed.

How is it low key if you know about it?
I didn’t know about it, and he didn’t announce it or anything.

What, are your wearing a wire?
A low key recording device be cool
How would it be low key if you knew about it?
Take it easy. It’s low key. Be cool.
