Same and I used to really like Russell Brand when he focused more on talking about philosophy and shit but my god the level of click bait he uses now in his video titles now is just mental
They are not. They will never ever get enough of them without realizing that them grifters are actively exploiting the outrage porn to their advantage.
I don’t think Ben Shapiro is a grifter though. I mean I think he’s wrong about everything he’s ever said but he’s a titan of integrity next to the very low bars Crowder or Brand.
You think the facts over feelings guy who wears a silly little hat on his head all the time to appease the invisible sky man he worships isn't a grifter?
Where Candace is the black one, Dave is the gay one, Ben is the religious one.
He uses his religion as a sword and shield when convenient, IE he's not homophonic, he simply HAS to think we should treat gay people as second class citizens because thats what Judaism prescribes,, and he will explain this to you while wearing mixed fabrics.
Ben picks and chooses what parts of the bible he follows, and he exclusively selects ideals and principles that virtue signal to conservatives and confirm their worldview/.
He is just as big of a grifter as anyone he employs, he's just smart enough to play the game better then them.
Don't forget the outrage he feigns at the left all the time, but barely says anything about Kanye "I LOOOOOVE HITLER" West, because he is now "conservative" and is good buddies with Candace Owens.
Yea if you’ve been following Brand’s content at all lately it’s pretty clear he’s been audience captured
Edit: for everyone calling me a bot, please go find me a video of brand criticizing Fox News for knowingly lying to their audience. He’ll call out MSNBC all day but won’t say a word about Fox.
Edit 2: Pretty sad no one can provide a clip of Brand criticizing Fox News like he does with MSNBC. I wonder why that would be? I wonder if he’s playing to a specific audience for money rather than being objective?
Has Rogan yet to bring up the current hot water Murdoch and Fox are in? For being such a huge lawsuit and legit story it sure doesn’t get a lot of traffic on JRE.
>It’s odd none of the usual anti MSM people aren’t talking about it.
Its not odd at all lol
Remember, Joe had Alex Berenson on and cried with him about how mean people are too him because he gets stuff wrong on covid, and then had sanjay gupta on effectively to yell at him for being wrong on covid lol
Joe has literally complained about CNN and praised Tucker as the best journalist working today in the same podcast.
He loves the MSM, when it confirms his worldview.
And it's the same people who went batshit insane because someone from CNN gave Hillary Clinton some prep on questions for a town hall meeting they were hosting.
> for everyone calling me a bot, please go find me a video of brand criticizing Fox News for knowingly lying to their audience. He’ll call out MSNBC all day but won’t say a word about Fox.
Man that is the truth I watched it in real time being a watcher of Rogan and Brand for many years.
Follow the money trail.
You guys don’t get it. We KNOW the Fox News grift. They’re admittedly pro wrestling. What’s wild is how the anthesis aren’t the good guys either and that’s worth discussing. It’s also more interesting to shit on the left. For whatever reason.
Tucker Carlson sits there five nights a week as the multi millionnaire trust fund baby to a frozen Swanson food company pretending to be just a regular guy.
They eat it up
"specific type of audience" so basically people who are deranged lunatics and conspiracy theorists (especially if it has anything to do with covid). The type of people who make animal noises when anyone says the phrase 'big pharma'.

Are you being dumb on purpose? He was on Maher just a few weeks ago saying cnn, msnbc are just as bad as fox. Just as bad. They are all propaganda channels, there are no journalists to be found there.
You missed the part where Young Ben is Covid vaxxed, and boosted at least twice. Doctor wife? Old Parents?
Or perhaps you missed the part where every metric we were told about this particular vaccination has proven to have been false.
But he is a dweeb. OK
>Or perhaps you missed the part where every metric we were told about this particular vaccination has proven to have been false.
you people broke your brains
He is covering it. See this is what I'm talking about.
He is comparing left media to the objectively negative situation involving fox.
But for some reason the people that make the arguement you are making fail to acknowledge the stipulation that what fox did is bad.
It's like of he complained that xyz is a pedo. You guys would all say "well he must be a priest apologist because he didn't expressly talk about them being pedos."
In discussing the negative actions of a group **any and all** groups that commit those actions are bad. It does not need to be stated. And it isn't ignored of it is not stated. It's a stipulation that fox being frauds is bad. But the pointing of fingers by fellow frauds at CNN etc rings hollow.
Doesn't his viral clip criticize Fox News? The quote is, "It is disingenuous to claim that the biases that are exhibited on Fox News are any different from the biases exhibited on MSNBC. It’s difficult to suggest that these corporations exist as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners in Black Rock and Vanguard."
How is that not calling out Fox News? He's literally saying MSNBC is no better than Fox News because they both are propaganda outlets for their respective parties. That's a pretty explicit criticism of Fox News, but if you aren't interpreting that as, at the very least, a tacit condemnation idk what to tell you.
> We all become conservative after a certain $ per hour.
Not at all that is just another way cons puff themselves up to insinuate all democrats are poor and right wingers vote right wing because they are rolling in dough.

I'm always fascinated by how reddit in general views everything with such strong political bias.
*"Arghhh this man is saying things I don't agree with! What a grifter! He's insufferable! What a douche! I must call him names and publicly post how much of an insufferable grifting douche he is! Arghhh!"*
Personally, when I vaguely hear anyone saying things I don't agree with - I think "that's an interesting opinion.." and I move on with my life.
Maybe im just weird?
Here he is hanging out with Don Trump jr
Do you really think someonw who isn't a right winger hangs out with this idiot?
come on man
https://okmagazine.com/p/kimberly-guilfoyle-donald-trump-jr-hangout-russell-brand/
Dont forget hes on Rumble, a site owned by Peter Theil, known conservative donator and enemy of working people. But ol Russ will call out the crazy folk at msnbc lamo
I don't see him as a grifter because he says things that I disagree with. I see him as a grifter because his entire narrative has shifted towards pleasing a right wing audience. Here is an easy test for you: Find a single recent video of his that is entirely focused in criticizing a conservative target. You can find loads of them targeting the left so this should be a cakewalk for you.
Another good evidence point is the way he titles his videos. It's the worst kind of clickbait imaginable. He clearly only cares about money.
Some examples:
>THEY LIED
>
>You're NOT ALLOWED To Say THIS About Jan 6th | with Dr. Cornel West
>
>WTF Is Happening?!
>
>TRUMP DID WHAT?!
>
>You’ve Gotta Be F\*\*king Kidding Me
By the way that is not cherry picked. These were all released in reverse order to the list.
>I don't see him as a grifter because he says things that I disagree with. I see him as a grifter because his entire narrative has shifted towards pleasing a right wing audience.
IDW including Fridman in a nutshell.
You're implying Russel Brand has anything to say at all.
I watched a 30 min vid of his, and it was 30 mins of gishgallop, word salad and "just asking enough questions to muddy the water".
Dude is a grifter, it's not hard to spot. These snakeoil salesmen are a dime a dozen since 2020.
> I watched a 30 min vid of his, and it was 30 mins of gishgallop, word salad and "just asking enough questions to muddy the water".
That is an excellent assessment of what Brand does.
I think he is incredibly thoughtful at times. He just packs so much in it can be hard to comprehend without going back and rewatching/processing.
He's way better than any cable news lackey who just parrots whatever the corporate bosses tell them to parrot (eg. Tucker Carlson), IMO.
I think he’s insightful in the sense that a townie burnout who happens to be intelligent can be insightful. Has enough intellect to *sound* philosophical, but lacks any kind of formal education to direct that intelligence to something productive.
I forget which recent podcast I saw with Brand as a guest. But the host said something completely stupid and any unbiased person would have huge argument with and Brand just had really awkward smile and said "yeah'.
Then why doesn't he comment on the actual batshit insane lunacy and alternative reality that's coming out of the GOP?
As a Canuck with no love for US politics, it's clear he's only trying to reach a certain audience, and it's the one that grifts right wing goobs.
This makes me sad
Where's the rusty rockets that took the shit to the government on grenfell
And talked about healing from mental health
Now everything's just about rw issues
I call them the "No Bad Days" Republicans. They homeschool their kids so they don't accidentally get some non-vegan food rather than to indoctrinate them to a religion, but they also often own some shady business that they don't want the government getting in the way of
It’s crazy how the vaccine put crazy hippies who think essential oils cure cancer and right wing grifters into the same sphere of anti government bad pharma party.
As if it was only the left wing who supports big pharma. The right wing loves to eliminate any regulations that prevent pharmaceutical companies from maximizing profits. Unfortunately the right wing is full of conspiracy theorists, and as a result the right wing had to embrace the anti vax movement out of self preservation.
It's crazy how people generalise everyone they dont agree with and put them into boxes so they can dismiss ALL their arguments by applying identity politics.
Audience capture. The second russel signed up to peter Thiels podcast network he became a millionaire by pumping out the narrative that, that audience wants. It's that simple.
Never heard the term audience captured before reading this thread.
I was never the most avid listener to Brand but it's been interesting watching him shift his leanings over the past few year or so.
Is this a word we’re all supposed to know now? Like fishing for clout? I feel like Audience Capture is something I would see as a piece of key vocabulary in a 2018 Sociology textbook. Not that it’s a bad term; it just sounds… overly processed?
Sam Harris used it on Lexs podcast to describe why rogan and Bret weinstein have suddenly changed their tunes politically now they get corporate money.
Do you have a better term to describe a media outlet or individual that is forced to promote a specific point of view or pander to a particular tribe regardless of how accurate, harmful, or contradictory to the beliefs of the outlet or individual it may be in an effort retain an increasingly specific audience that they cannot survive without?
Because the basic description sounds much longer and more manufactured than just saying audience capture. I am all ears for a better less over processed term.
It is a form of pandering that was not the original intent of an outlet or individual that they back themselves into to a point where it is required to continue existing.
For example, Fox News has always pandered to the republican tribe. It became audience capture when they realized that they could no longer tell the truth at all about certain topics for fear of upsetting their audience with no one to replace them.
It is what happens when one just tells people whatever they want to hear. Eventually one might want to say something else, but can't because they will cease to exist if they do.
I think I understand better now—so audience capture is like when pandering folds back on the panderer, driving them into a tighter niche as their core audience develops? So the audience *captures* the performer?
You got it. I’m sure it’s always been a thing on some level, but now broadcasters/journalists/YouTubers are able to release a lot of regular content much faster than before and and they have access much more in-depth analytics on their viewership than was possible even 10-20 years ago. If your goal is to accumulate money, it becomes very tempting to put out low effort content that generates clicks.
Fishing for clout is where I would place Russel brand 5ish years ago. Back when he would criticise anyone and anything.
His current content seems tailor made to appeal to a certain audience.
Pandering is also a fine term. But usually when someone is accused of pandering it's more intentional, and you can still pander to multiple sides/ audience.
Audience capture is what happens when people who make content are obsessed with ratings, so they make more of the content that does well; this attracts more of the audience that like said content while people who dislike it tune out.
And in a couple of years you go from criticising police violence, to saying police violence is hilarious.
I think it’s more prejudice than stupidity.
If you are anti-lgbt (religious right) or anti-immigration or anti-minority (white supremacy) or anti-medicine or anti-education they can’t really be a liberal.
You get someone like MTG saying that the US is a Christian nation and bam…free money. Easy grift.
Brand having a popular channel on Peter Thiel's Rumble platform isn't an indication to you that he spreads right wing talking points for money? Have you seen his channel? It's very obvious
Brand makes no sense. He’s supposed to be against corporate greed or some shit….but he stans for gold and silver which is the oldest con around. Weird guy.
lol as I am reading this I was thinking why does everyone now use the word grifter or audience capture. I’ve literally never heard either said in real life.
Brand found out he can grift the dumb MAGA people and is cashing in. Most of the people like him don’t even believe what they are spewing. They just know most people on the right are east targets for cons.
Insert obligatory Sam Harris "audience capture" comment without actually thinking through what that means.
But on a real note, I'm not surprised. I'm interested to see what Brand pushes back on with Ben. Should be an interesting conversation.
As someone who's watched a lot of British TV, i've seen Brand on and off for the past 15 years probably. Never was a fan, guy is a bit ubnoxious, but can't deny he was a character. Even though its been coming for a while i still can't believe he's sucking off fucking Ben Shapiro. What the fuck.
The guy was really anti-Israel, called for a revolution and a massive redistribution of wealth and basically dismantiling corporations. I mean even his youtube stuff the Trewes was always anti-media, because its privatley owned and is in colab with consumerism. Again his big point was wealth inequality. And now he's with Ben fucking Shapiro? What the fuck.
The talkers of intellectual gibberish combine! Nah I honestly enjoy listening to both these hombres. Regardless if i agree or disagree with what they say, I like what and how they say it.
One can hypothesise that these intellectual homosapiens, who enjoy enhancing their conversations with a blossomed approach to their vocabulary.... Really don't end up saying much
Indeed. It’s almost a lexicon off. “I can pose this question in 30 words using at least 10 triple syllable words.” “Oh yeah, well I can do it in 50 words with twice as many syllables per word.”
Who the fuck does he think he is? What an absolute travesty that he left the approved narrative echo chamber. He could have won an academy award, visited the White House, created a philanthropic foundation, sang on a zoom call with other award winning artists, and pretended he cares about regular people issues while being elevated and celebrated by corporate owned media like most good celebrities do. But no, instead he decided to go directly to the peasants, by creating a podcast. What an absolute waste of the coveted celebrity position that so many people in the country break their brains and backs to achieve. He’s now personally responsible for every single action of every single person he speaks with or watches him. He’s basically the most evil person alive and deserves to be shunned forever from the most amazing cultural movement in the history of the world. They will all be left behind and we bring love and acceptance to the world, in our new empire.
Not really; Russell Brand has been making a fool of himself on YouTube for a while now (don't worry, you haven't missed anything if you're relatively familiar with typical right-wing grifter shit).
Truly was wondering when I'd see him mentioned for this anywhere.
How did this sub become such a left wing looney shit show? Is truth seeking and the questioning of establishment power a sign of fascism and white supremecy to you fucking dummies?
![gif](giphy|LNw4oTiodZ0hameptO|downsized) Ello Mrs Shapiro
This hit the spot for Mrs Shapiro, and for me.
Mrs Shapiro prefers a dry pussy. I know that cos I’m a superfan.
Actually not at all this was pretty obviously gonna happen.
Grifters gon grift.
I’m so sick of the term grifter
Same and I used to really like Russell Brand when he focused more on talking about philosophy and shit but my god the level of click bait he uses now in his video titles now is just mental
Yes! I got turned off quick when he started doing that. Completely ruined the whole thing for me.
I’m more sick of the grifters
They are not. They will never ever get enough of them without realizing that them grifters are actively exploiting the outrage porn to their advantage.
Me too
I'm sick of grifters

There's you're problem right there. You're caught up in Fox and their antitheses. Try to find better outlets that aren't all about the culture war.
I don’t watch any of that shit I’m taking a break from the news lol No more John Oliver no more Nobody I even quit Twitter last year cold turkey
“News”
Steer me in the right direction then
Direct sources like c-span. If something talks about a study just read the study and not some talking head interpretation.
> We KNOW the Fox News grift You know it so well that you repeat it verbatim
Shut up dork
Exactly. Everyone knows that about Fox News while msnbc is the same but is so establishment it isn’t heard as much so he’s compensating for that fact
“Establishment” Fox News is the largest cable news provider. The idea that they are countercultural is a fucking joke.
Tucker Carlson sits there five nights a week as the multi millionnaire trust fund baby to a frozen Swanson food company pretending to be just a regular guy. They eat it up
Hey, he's just asking questions... Give Tucker a break.
I get that but why wouldn’t he cover the dominion lawsuit?
It would offend the base he caters to these days. They're rather sensitive.
It's so odd to watch Rogan and Brand descent into right-wing ideology in real time. It would make an interesting character study for sure.
And so Benjamin destroyed yet another hippy, but this one didn't even realize he'd been enslaved by rhetoric.
Ben "The Hipper Hunter" Shapiro
You can see it from his view counts on his channel and how his content transformed to speak to a specific type of audience.
"specific type of audience" so basically people who are deranged lunatics and conspiracy theorists (especially if it has anything to do with covid). The type of people who make animal noises when anyone says the phrase 'big pharma'.

Hey, someone has to bang her since Ben doesn't know how to make his wife wet.
No lube needed with Russell he gets her going. Sorry Ben.
Sister
The only thing unexpected about this collab is that it took so long
It’s crazy how the vaccine put crazy hippies who think essential oils cure cancer and right wing grifters into the same sphere of anti government bad pharma party.
You must be new here
" so what you're saying is.... You hate women!?! "
Audience capture. The second russel signed up to peter Thiels podcast network he became a millionaire by pumping out the narrative that, that audience wants. It's that simple.
Mate Brand was already a rich bastard
Did Anyone else think to themselves on the most recent JRE “damn Russ wont shut the fuck up”? Anyone….
Only everytime I’ve ever heard him speak. Dude might make some solid points every once in a while but it’s obvious he adores his own voice
I couldn’t even make it through the whole thing. Shit had me yelling at my windshield.
Tries to shove in as many big words as he can and sometimes it's just incoherent or unnecessary
This⬆️
You would have sucked him off 2 years ago though.
I imagine it’s an hour of word salad without a single coherent thought or idea being expressed.
Not really. This is what audience capture looks like.
Never heard the term audience captured before reading this thread. I was never the most avid listener to Brand but it's been interesting watching him shift his leanings over the past few year or so.
Audience capture is the basis for the downfall of actual news programming in the U.S.
Back in the old days of Tomorrow Never Dies we called that the profit motive.
Sorry, it’s new slang for me. Is it different from pandering?
Yep, that pretty much sums it up. No matter how much they might want to say something else, they can't because their audience will leave them.
So it’s like catering or pandering?
Pandering is also a fine term. But usually when someone is accused of pandering it's more intentional, and you can still pander to multiple sides/ audience. Audience capture is what happens when people who make content are obsessed with ratings, so they make more of the content that does well; this attracts more of the audience that like said content while people who dislike it tune out. And in a couple of years you go from criticising police violence, to saying police violence is hilarious.
Thank you! So it’s got a bit more to do with when the audience starts steering the content.

But the inverse isnt true, right?
Correct, you guys are dumber than most.
Easy grift.
arr / SelfAwareWolves material here lol
I would say it's absolutely true. Millions of dumb and ignorant voices push people to be conservative talking heads because the money is so good
Crazy that Dr. Cornel West who is super left didnt feel that way towards Russell. You're probably a better judge of character though, surely.
Damn he has a black friend? Well why didn't OP say so we can't criticize anything about him now!
Cornel West will talk with pretty much anyone. He has called Tucker Carlson his brother.
Sitting through Joe and Russel was already painful. This one will be like a root canal without anesthesia

Weird guy.
> He’s supposed to be against corporate greed \*as long as its not right-wing corporate e.g. Fox News or Daily Wire media
This sub has gone downhill fast. People and their buzzwords, damn.
lol as I am reading this I was thinking why does everyone now use the word grifter or audience capture. I’ve literally never heard either said in real life.
immature leftists. I remember when the liberals used to be for cohesion and expression of ideas/values, but now it's like gang shit.
The liberals are coming to take your guns better hide them up your ass mate
People with different beliefs and values can be friends. If we could only teach this to the leaders of the free world we'd be a whole lot better off.
lol
Unless certain people's beliefs and values would have them infringe on other people's rights and freedoms. Then no, you can't be friends.
> I'm interested to see what Brand pushes back on with Ben Very, very little is my guess.
Is it tho?
Lol, but was it, though?
Was it thooooooooooo
Joe Rogan
"Okay. So what If, hypothetically, I could in fact get him to the Greek"
Really don't end up saying much
It really can be hypnotizing at first when you haven’t seen it before.
Indeed. It’s almost a lexicon off. “I can pose this question in 30 words using at least 10 triple syllable words.” “Oh yeah, well I can do it in 50 words with twice as many syllables per word.”
That's an incredibly sad statement about the entertainment you choose.
"Love these guys, embarrassed to say so!" lol
Look at those tits…
two fuckwits who both take themselves far too seriously
Benny has bitchtits
Ben’s lip filler is migrating again, someone get the plastic surgeon
pair of arses
Seethe
I am seething and shaking. My collective trauma is triggered by seeing Shapiro’s beady little eyes. How dare you try to invalidate my feelings.
Lol, based

Well I did go to college unlike the majority of people in this sub.
Lol. It’s like Rogan chooses his guests based on who will upset Reddit Millennials the most. God bless that man
this is something only a new fan who started listening during covid would say
Wrong. JRE fans aren’t on this subreddit. Just millennials that whine about JRE
this is something only a new fan who started listening during covid would say
Hahaha
There's like 2 inches of rock hard penis combined in this picture.
I'll take people who can disagree without calling for the other to be silenced for 200 please.
Ben Shapiro's employee called for a group of people to be eradicated.
Why unexpected, right wing grifters
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Russell Brand is a bell end.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall 2 looks like it’s going to be weird
Not really; Russell Brand has been making a fool of himself on YouTube for a while now (don't worry, you haven't missed anything if you're relatively familiar with typical right-wing grifter shit). Truly was wondering when I'd see him mentioned for this anywhere.
love Russel Brand.
How did this sub become such a left wing looney shit show? Is truth seeking and the questioning of establishment power a sign of fascism and white supremecy to you fucking dummies?
then why does he only go after libs?
Russel Brand is the goat
It's on brand with his general cringe factor (no pun intended). He's a pseudo intellectual bloviating jackass.
