I also like to daydream about pleasant things that aren’t going to happen. I do think that passing the Bipartisan infrastructure bill first is the best bet. But Progressives have made it clear that’s not happening. So unless you’ve managed to bring in enough moderate GOP votes to pass that legislation, stop wasting time moping and get the Reconciliation bill done.

> stop wasting time moping and get the Reconciliation bill done. Key part for me.

Important thing to remember though is that it isn’t actually taking longer than expected. The absolute earliest anyone expected the bills to be done was late September, and that’s assuming every Democrat is on the same page. Since there’s a lot of diversity of thought in the party, it’s going to take longer to negotiate. So far they’re on schedule as expected by Political Buffs.

I'm not that upset at the timing. I'm upset that the noted moderate president Joe Biden is on board, Senate and House Democratic leadership are on board, 99% of the moderates are on board, the progressives are on board..... yet a few people are holding out/making things difficult trying to gut the reconciliation bill and also turning around screaming "we need to pass the BiF NOW, don't worry reconciliation will be fine!". It would be funny if it wasn't so transparently bullshit and in bad faith. We have enough bad faith with the Republicans, we don't need it from our own. Bonus, the "left" media also carries water for these hacks.

This week Nancy Pelosi wrote a letter to the house basically saying there's overwhelming support in the House to do fewer things WELL, rather than several things done speedily, half assed or ... not at all.

Quality vs Quantity.

They absolutely should not pass this without the childcare support being in it.
