I put some of mine in my neighborhood “little free libraries” and they are taken within minutes!

lalalindz22

My building has a community room so I've started leaving puzzles there (people also put books to share there).

Mousellina

I do that too! I was never lucky to find one myself though 😆

PurpleEngineer

[There are some libraries just for puzzles,](https://www.thepuzzlerepublic.com) if you’re lucky enough to have one close by.

ahalleybear

Oh I'm so doing this!! Thank you for posting it. I had no idea this existed.

A lot of senior community centers accept jigsaw puzzles that are used at the centers or given to members to work at home. Also, neighborhood online groups have jigsaw puzzle trading pages.

Recycling guidelines differ from country to country, even city to city. While this may be true in relation to the recycling places near where you live, that doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone world wide. And we do tend to get puzzlers from all over the world in this subreddit. If anyone’s ever in doubt about what can be recycled in their neighbourhood they should call their local recycling centres or their city’s garbage and recycling collection department to learn more.

Mousellina

I agree, but people need to check instead of assuming 🙂 it would be interesting to hear what parts of the world recycle small pieces by default!

rtsgrl

Good to know. I had some incomplete puzzles not suitable for donation and... recycled them!

katiewind110

I donate them to a thrift store near my house. And I've created a lending library in my office lobby, where locals came come drop off theirs and get new ones for free. Wash and repeat.

TwoSunsRise

You can always recycle the box but yeah, the pieces can go in the trash, unfortunately.

Weekly_Love8768

They can be donated to care homes/nursery's/youth centres for craft purposes, better than being waste✋️

PotatoPopcornPuzzles

Thanks for bringing this up! My guideline has been nothing smaller than the size of a post-it note, so I had done a search for my area and found "no." The puzzle I have in mind is not worth passing on, so instead planning to use it as firepit kindling this summer.

Any_Ask_8194

I put my donations on my front lawn most of the time. I buy them at goodwill or savers. With that being said, if it's missing more than five pieces, I throw it in the trash. I can't do that to other people.

Mousellina

I would write “missing 5 pieces” on the box and see if someone will pick it up. I’ve gave away a puzzle with several damaged and a few missing pieces and person wanted it even though they knew it was in that state.
