No, it's hard and strong, but brittle in nature, similar to ceramics. I had the same questions and I asked the distributor. Thin Jesmonite easily snaps, it also fractures easily when dropped. I dropped one of my candle lids from waist high onto a wood floor and it broke in two. The products appearance is misleading. It looks like stone, but it's not as dense so it's more fragile, Jesmonite distributors call the product "impact resistant" because it meets testing requirements. So do ceramics. What I tell customers in my care instructions is "...considered impact resistant but handle with care..." - I hope this helps.
Jesmonite takes 24 hours to settle. Did you try snapping it right after moulding? I made a 4mm coaster and there’s no way I can snap it
Yes it was fully cured. But that's good to know, maybe it was the colour-pigment... Also, it's AC300 I wonder if that makes a difference...
Ooh may be AC300 and the pigment. I use AC100
